Thank you for responding!

Yes it is a blu-ray source without aacs (anyDVD), I can demux without issue from tsMuxeR and Handbrake. Tried several smaller m2ts from other blu-ray disks with the same results. I have never had Ripbot264 successfully demux *anything* which is why I am assuming I booboo'd.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

If you are wanting ac3 audio in an mp4 file to play on Apple TV then I think Handbrake is your only option. Apple TV needs 2 audio tracks to play AC3, the first a stereo aac track (can be low bitrate) and the second the AC3 track. The file needs to be saved as m4v. Unfortunately Ripbot is not able to do this yet.

hoju3508

That's not true.

If i set in low priority i'll encode it in a week...i think! (i never try it!) :D

Use BDInfo to locate the main movie. Pick the right m2ts file and Ripbot264 will do the rest.

What particular Blu-ray are you having issues with?

@hoju3508

Determining the movie is not a problems, since I can play it back without issue prior to attempting to use RipBot264. Besides, it's HUGE so rather easy to spot. The two sources I have tried without success with RipBot264--remember tsMuxeR and Handbrake demux without issue, are Kung Fu Panda and RocknRolla. I have a few more in my library to try, but no reason to believe they will work, but will give them a try since I am just thrashing, anyway.

Anyone else have suggestions. *frustrated*

I think so, since I can play and demux the m2ts elsewhere. hmm.. how to validate.. how this?

I hope you are teasing?!

Of course I do, but since you were asking, I felt like I needed to validate it by showing you. Again, I can remove the aacs encryptioin without issue and play the m2ts without any further changes, however, I would like to use Ripbot264 to reduce size from the sources 18 to 20 GB, use with PS3 Media Server and PS3, HTPC, or whatever. I have been able to reproduce the problem using different sources from different workstations. There must be a common factor, but I am not seeing it. /don't point at me!/ Well, I could be doing something retarded. If so, enlighten me.

Umm, in your pics it says "Please Wait..." So, are you waiting for RipBot to finish preparing the streams? This takes a long time!!!!

DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT OGG and AC3 are allowed in .mp4??!?! (However some claim that AC3 is supported in mp4)

Ya, sorry, I figured it out now. I didn't realize that you coded the program to limit the profiles based on which codec was selected... pretty smart of you! But ya, I'm positive that AC3 is supported in MP4 natively... and I just looked up info on OGG and found that it is not supported. So you might want to consider at least allowing for AC3 in MP4.

Oh, and is there any reason why 2.0 AC3 isn't supported? I've come across many videos that only contain a 2.0 audio track...

Thanks!

That did occur to me even if it was unusual to not show any progress after several hours. At the point "Demuxing selected streams... 32%" CPU Utilization is typically less than 1%. Only process I can attribute to RipBot264 is Ripbot264.exe and eac3to.exe of which both are at 0% CPU utilization. There was really no reason to leave it at this point, but I did. More than twenty-four hours the dialogue continues to display no further progress past 32% nor does the CPU show any increase in utilitzation.

I am sure it is going to be something silly, but I am willing to throw myself out here to be embarassed and get this bloody app to work. I am even OK with asking me questions like I am a neophyte, since clearly I do not know the solution.

Feel my pain?

History:
week and half trying different sources with consistent failures, using other applications without issue (tsMuxeR and Handbrake), trying a second workstation, pull down the installation packages to ensure the culprit is not a corrupted package, wiping a workstation to provide a clean and base build. failures continue and symptoms do not change. Post for help.

Ugh. Well, this may help in solving the mystery. After Ripbot264 stops processing (audio?) duing the 'Please wait.. Demuxing..' and I kill eac3to.exe process, ripbot264 moves forward to 'Gathering Information' and allows me to encode the m2ts to mp4. It's encoding as I post.

Any insight on why eac3to.exe may be 'hanging'? Is it hanging? Ugh. You get the idea.

Here is the log.txt, and I am selecting #2.

The log you posted doesn't help, because this command
command line: "C:\Program Files\Ripbot264\Tools\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "C:\Media\noaacs\Appaloosa.m2ts"
tells eac3to to output the tracklist for that file

Agreed. Not suggesting I know root cause. Hoping someone can give me direction on next step to determine it. Assuming eac3to.exe is the culprit, how do I get it to generate an error or log to determine the problem?

Love this software thank you for you hard work and support!!

I have been using for over 12 months without a hitch but suddenly will not demux bluray vc1 ac3 in m2ts container . It writes to temp folder and stalls at 1%. The only change I have made is RipBot and data reside on a new 6tb array mounted in windows XP with 4k block size to overcome >2TB limit. Is this problematic?

I chose [Base 3.0] iPOD . iPhone and 2.0 CT AAC-LC 128 kbps. Resized it to 320x240 in Properties and added subtitles. Encoding and muxing went fine, everything was in sync. I added it to iTunes but I couldn't copy the file to my iPod. I have 30GB iPod which is capable of playing

H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;

Here's what iTunes shows,

Check the folder where eac3to should demux/reencode the streams. It usually creates a log file with same name as the first stream it outputs. You can also try to demux/reencode the streams manually with eac3to to see if the problem actually lies with this program or has another cause.

would it be possible to add variable framerate to ripbot's options? I have a guide (for megui) from someone helping me out with a particular encode if it would help

This is the script I'm using for blahblahblah (avs);
(requires Avisynth (http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/Main_Page) installed, vfr mod of Decomb (http://webpages.charter.net/falconx/decombvfrmod.html) and megui (http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/MeGUI) as encoder)
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Decomb521VFR1.3_P4-Athlon.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\dgdecode.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MaskTools-v1.5.8\MaskTools.dll")
Import("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\AntiAliasing.avs")

DGDecode_Mpeg2Source("C:\PL2\Vol1ep6\VTS_03_1.d2v")

Telecide(order=1,guide=0,vthresh=40,dthresh=5,blend=true,ovr="frames.ovr")
Decimate(mode=4,threshold=1.0,timecodes="timecodes.txt",vfrstats="vfrstats")

#DupMC(log="blah.dup1.txt")
DeDup(threshold=0.3, maxcopies=10, maxdrops=3, log="blah.dup1.txt", times="blah.times.txt", timesin="timecodes.txt")

AntiAliasing(th_luma=25, th_croma=25, aath=27)

In order:
DGDecode: Creates a d2v project file that refers directly to the vobs, so no need for imtermediate files, find it in MeGUI's Tools-folder(DGIndex/DGIndex.exe). Allows to encode only parts, but sometimes if you start with wrong frame it will cause bad frames/combing issues en masse even with sane settings, shift the "[" (starting position) with one or more frames and try again. Folder will also include the manuals for it;
DGIndexProjectFile16
3
C:\PL2\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_1.VOB
C:\PL2\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_2.VOB
C:\PL2\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_3.VOB

Stream_Type=1
MPEG_Type=2
iDCT_Algorithm=5
YUVRGB_Scale=1
Luminance_Filter=0,0
Clipping=0,0,0,0
Aspect_Ratio=4:3
Picture_Size=720x480
Field_Operation=0
Frame_Rate=29970 (30000/1001)
Location=1,55460,2,585

d00 5 1 715325440 0 1 31 b2 b2 92 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2
d00 5 1 715522048 0 1 31 b2 b2 92 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2
d00 5 1 715776000 0 1 26 b2 b2 92 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2
d00 5 1 716009472 0 1 26 b2 b2 92 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2
d00 5 1 716238848 0 1 26 b2 b2 92 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2
d00 5 1 716460032 0 1 26 b2 b2 92 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2 b2 b2 a2
etc...
Then you load it to an .avs with DGDecode_Mpeg2Source("C:\Path\insertname.d2v").

Telecide/Decomb: Will decide which frames to deinterlace, guides in the folder so look up the parameters. The mode above allows the encode to have both video (30000:1001) and film (24000:1001) after decimating. 'order: Unlike TFM (another deinterlacer) it doesn't automatically detect if the field order is 0 or 1, so if the encode (you can run the avs in most media players, just comment dedup/antialiasing/other intensive filters out (but not Telecide/Decimate, or the lines in the beginning)) has 'hacking' isssues even at sane settings try changing from 1 to 0 or vice versa...
The timecodes.txt will contain the timecodes, it is used either with DeDup below, or omitting that, it's the timecodes file to be muxed with the final encode/mkv...
Ovr is simply the overrides file, just set the threshold low enough for deinterlacing and you won't need this, otherwise there's a good explanation in the guide included in the zip...

Dedup (http://akuvian.org/src/avisynth/dedup/): (see the readme on that site) Doubtful how much use it would be with Macademi as it will hardly decrease a significant number of frames, but this is how it operates: (note; threshold determines how alike the frames must be to be considered duplicates, if set higher the less total frame number, but unique frames might be lost...)

You need two passes for this, for first pass have either only the first line in the avs, or comment the other by placing a '#' in front of it; (concerns only these two lines, leave Telecide/Decimate etc as is)
DupMC(log="blah.dup1.txt")
#DeDup(threshold=0.3, maxcopies=10, maxdrops=3, log="blah.dup1.txt", times="blah.times.txt", timesin="timecodes.txt")
blah.dup1.txt in this case will record the differences between all frames
But you don't want to actually encode this pass, so click 'encode analysis pass' in megui
(timesin will import the timecodes file from Decimate, and output a new one, blah.times.txt, to be muxed with the final encode/mkv...)

Now reverse that;
#DupMC(log="blah.dup1.txt")
DeDup(threshold=0.3, maxcopies=10, maxdrops=3, log="blah.dup1.txt", times="blah.times.txt", timesin="timecodes.txt")
...so it looks like the script like in the beginning and open it again in megui (to enable anamorphic encoding remember to adjust the screen in the megui preview window)
and you can finally start the encoding in megui :)

AntiAliasing (http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/AntiAliasing) One of many antialiasing filters, just don't set deblocking too low and you won't need this...
If you're interested, check the internal/external filters section on the Avisynth page, Macademi might perhaps benefit from a slight sharpening...

...I'm pretty sure I've missed some crucial bits of info, but I'll check back tomorrow after work so just send pms if you decide to try this and run into problems...

I realize parts of that don't have anything to do with just VFR, but I'm still learning avisynth, and wasn't sure what to trim out

Blender -
First thing I'd do is update to the latest release of EAC3to, if you haven't already.

Next, try this:

Open a CMD window (this is basically a DOS window)
Change to the drive and Ripbot directory (mine is C:\temp\RipBot264, so the command is "cd C:\temp\RipBot265"
Change to the Job1 (or Job2 or whatever job is hanging for you) The comamd is "cd job1"
Run the Blu-Ray_ExtractStreams.cmd file in that directory by just typing in "Blu-Ray_ExtractStreams.cmd".

You'll be able to see EAC3to in action and perhaps see where it is getting hung up.

nice answer Atak, this really show your "HIGH KNOWLEDGE"!

...anyway, in low priority, i'm testing now, your program say this:

2-pass without low-priority (about 7/8 hours)

Hi.

I have the latest ripbot264 and ffdshow (beta6_rev2527_20081219), and ripbot will not detect ffdshow. I can get it to run by disabling the check, but I am wondering why it won't detect it.

The registry settings are there for ffdshow, I've tried unchecking the black list, and checking the whitelist adding ripbot264, but it still won't detect it at startup.

Anyting else I can check?

*sigh*

As I stated earlier with my problem using Ripbot264, it was going to be something silly.

First, how do I specify the temporary directory used to process? Not seeing where it is configurable. If this is not a current feature, love to see it added.

Ripbot264 appears to be looking for "temp" on the largest available (local?) volume. As such, when I have an external USB drive attached to my host, it is using it instead of my RAID 1 volume. That is a problem in itself.

So what is the problem? The external drive I am using has a sleep mode and other 'features.' None of them seem to be terribly useful. For some unknown reason, I do not pretend to completely grasp the problem, when Ripbot264 is using the external USB drive it halts during demuxing. Disconnect the drive and begin anew, it completes demuxing and creation of mpeg or mkv without further problem.

I am re-encoding my second source that was giving me difficulties, now, without issue thus far.

@Nurbs & Hyrax
Thank you. I have walked away from this with more knowledge about Ripbot264 then I started. Also, if you had not had me hunting for the temporary work directory, I may not identified Ripbot264 was using the external USB drive any time soon.

Hyrax,

Thank you for the great tips. It appears Eac3 is hanging with error "Writing the destination file failed""
"Aborted at file position 13731102720"
Screen shot attached.

I have tried on all three drives raid and otherwise, same problem.

I am very frustrated.

Thank you all.
Problem solved. EAC3 will not write to 4k block size on my 6tb raid 5 volume. Moved temp file to a standard 512byte block size array and all is good. Back to tedious VC1 conversion for ps3.

Now that mkvmerge supports TrueHD will RipBot264 add this audio format as "supported" under the audio drop down?

ouch, look at all these replies, poor Atak...
all I can say is...calm down and cool down, it helps, sometimes...:P

anyway, I just found something that I called it a "bug"...
Let's say I add 4 videos and have it start encoding and then I abort on 3rd encoding for some reasons
the next time I click Start it would re-encode from the 1st video instead of 3rd one...

Is it normal?

Thanx again.

Atak, Thanks for your work on this project. Would you consider the ability to add in subtitles in the Vobsub (IDX/SUB) format to be merged into the final MKV? MKVMerge GUI can do this now, and it would save a step. Thanks!

Anybody running Linux/Wine with RipBot264?

I tried and it failed miserably.

I'm trying to convert a blu-ray rip to mkv and I'm having an issue.

If I select "5.1 Aften AC3" for the output audio then start the job, Ripbot sits there at "Please Wait... Initializing..." and goes no further. I have to abort, and unfortunately this does not create a Ripbot job1_log.txt file.

If I select "xx COPY STREAM xx" (the audio from the Blu-Ray is "DTS Master Audio"), Ripbot finishes within a second, obviously not creating the .mkv file. In the job log, I get this:

D:\>"C:\Program Files\RipBot264\tools\avs2yuv\pipebuf.exe" "C:\Program Files\RipBot264\tools\avs2yuv\avs2yuv.exe" "D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\job1.avs" -raw - : "C:\Program Files\RipBot264\tools\x264\x264_x64.exe" --crf 18 --stats "D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\job1.stats" --sar 1:1 --level 4.0 --aud --nal-hrd --vbv-bufsize 25000 --vbv-maxrate 25000 --filter 0,0 --ref 3 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --b-adapt 1 --weightb --direct auto --subme 7 --trellis 1 --partitions all --8x8dct --me umh --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim --fps 23.976 --frames 173544 --output "D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\video.264" - 1920x1080 : 4

Avisynth error:

#DownMix
Import("C:\Program Files\RipBot264\Tools\AviSynth plugins\Scripts\DownMixAudio.avs")
audio=DownMix2Stereo(audio)

Either way, I can't get this rip to encode. I'm using Ripbot 1.13.3 on Windows 2008 x64, ffdshow 2857, Haali Media Splitter 1.9.42.1, and AviSynth 2.5.8. I do have UAC turned off in Windows 2008, and I'm running Ripbot as Administrator.

If I had my choice, I'd rather use Aften 5.1 AC3 for audio, but if anyone can solve either issue I'd be happy.

I have waited as long as an hour for the encode to start, but it still sits there.

What did you do step by step?

For this particular movie, I chose the DTS master audio track, no subtitles. On the Edit Job screen, I'm choosing video profile 4.0, Copy Stream for audio, CQ 18 for compression, and ENG as the language. I then name the .mkv file, click Done, then hit start at the Jobs screen.

I'm going to try and find another one of my Blu-Ray discs that uses DTS Master audio to see what happens with encoding.

Oh, one last thing...I have checked the ffdshow video decoder configuration several times, and even though I set VC-1 to libavcodec, something keeps setting it back to disabled! I do keep setting it back, but I don't know if this has anything to do with my issues.

For VC-1 FFDSHOW should be configured to wmv9 not libavcodec.

Hi Atak_Snajpera and Hi everybody,
First of all congratulation for this wonderfull tool.
Do You think to build a version that support 64 bit and/or multicore CPU?
it is possible, and how is it, to upgrade all single software of ripbot (i.e. ffdshow, x264, ecc.ecc. )?
Thank You in advance and thank you for your good work.

thank You Alfeus for Your reply.
I've seen that x264 is 64bit edition, but I've also seen that there are other software that are required in 32 bit version even if 64 bit is available too.
I.e. ffdshow. The 64 bit version is not detected by ripbot,
It is possible to upgrade any software used by ripbot?
Thank you again

You can update the software used by RipBot264, however in many cases the multi-threaded 32bit versions are less problematic and faster.

Atak,

Just a suggestion for implementation: If the user selects Blu-Ray as the output, shouldn't the recommended crop be to Blu-Ray specifications, i.e. 1280x720, etc? Thanks...

I don't think you can run 64 bit code from a 64bit codec in to a 32bit frame server like avisynth then back into a 64bit codec.

Suppose its hard enough to make 32bit avisynth go to 64bit x264. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144140 Though they managed to do it the speed increasing by only 10% is not enough to influence most developers to give a crap.

:D Look until your willing to build and maintain a working copy of 64bit avisynth and convince a load of other developers to rebuild their projects as 64bit. The whole ordeal would be to bothersome to do at the moment and otherwise a waste of time. It works right now as it sits. Your 64bit system will not suffer at all from running 32bit code.

P.S. the Developer of ripbot has only one project and its entirely contained in Ripbot264.exe and ini...;)

I have recently started creating batch queues in RipBot and have run into some rather bizarre behavior. RipBot will not complete all of the projects in the queue. In fact, most of the time it only does every other one. So if I have six projects queued, it will complete three.

What is really strange is that RipBot starts the projects, but stops after the audio encoding process. Unfortunately, I just cleaned out my log files so I can't attach one of the uncompleted projects for perusal. I know there is nothing wrong with the project itself because if I tell RipBot to retry the project it will complete it, but not necessarily when in a batch queue. I will run another batch tonight and attach a log file tomorrow.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there is a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Which isn't very apparent. Took me a while to find this information too. Atak should add it to his first page post.

I was also searching for days trying to find why my long and tedious encodes would give me no video on my PS3 with perfectly fine audio. Turned out I had the reference frames up too high. I'm a nub and accidentally had the r-frames set to 5 with my 4.1 avc profile. Ooops, only wasted a few bd-rs before I looked at the log file and saw max supported frames warning LOL.

Great program though Atak, super-simple ui and all the options I need.

I see no reason. Ripbot always disables libavcodec for vc-1. (reason: lack of interlace support)
