Windows Defender should support exclusions (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26).

Thanks LigH,

I got close to those settings, but didn't find that one...I will have to remember that.

Cheers.

What I did was open Defender, Then Virus and threat protection, Manage settings under Virus&threat protection settings, scroll to bottom and hit Add or remove exclusions under Exclusions, +add an exclusion.

I just excluded the ripbot folder. You can exclude files of folders from there.

Yep, that's what I ended up doing, I just wasn't 100% sure where this option was.

But we really shouldn't need to do this, it shouldn't have happened in the first place :(

Hi Atak,

An interesting request (problem / dilemma)...

I have some .mov files created with DaVinci Resolve (below, MediaInfo)

I can load them into RB, but they do not encode with DE. (haven't tried them in single mode)

Not sure if it's an x265 limitation (or it needs specific commands)

x265 [FLAW]: unable to open input file <->

OR

y4m [FLAW]: bad sequence header magic
x264 [FLAW]: could not open input file `-'

But how could I retain that very high Bitrate ??

Video
ID : 1
Format : CineForm
Codec ID : CFHD
Codec ID/Info : CineForm High-Definition (HD) wavelet codec
Duration : 1 h 20 min
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 1 110 Mb/s
Width : 3 840 pixels
Height : 2 160 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 60.000 FPS
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:2
Bit depth : 10 bits
Scan type : Progressive
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 2.230
Stream size : 621 GiB (100%)
Encoded date : 2024-07-11 03:50:31 UTC
Tagged date : 2024-07-11 03:50:31 UTC
Color primaries : Display P3
Transfer characteristics : PQ

Not sure what "DE" means in your case...

DaVinci has a CineForm codec to export videos in CineForm HD format. But RipBot cannot use the codec which is built into DaVinci to decode that CineForm video again; you need a source filter for Avisynth which is able to decode the CineForm HD format, which may not be the case on your system. So you can probably not use the CineForm HD video format as intermediate exchange format, but a different one which is also supported by Avisynth source filters.

anyone getting a microsoft virus scan come up when updating to 1.27.3?

Hello, how can one obtain 1.27.3? In the starting post, 1.26.0 is the latest. Though auto-update has updated Ripbot into version 1.26.1 at some point but doesn't update further anymore.

Your first post in almost exactly 5 years....

You need to read thru this thread a little more thoroughly, as this virus alert has been discussed (but you've edited your original post)

Also, if you want v1.27.3 check my "sig".

As for auto updates, there is a BIG issue, and is not connecting to the update url.

I haven't had any virus alerts.

Thanks for the latest version. It doesn't seem to be available in any official website or link directly? This page http://atak-snajpera.5v.pl/ (looks official page to me) only mentions old v1.19.2.

In addition to this I also have another issue - Deinterlace option is completely greyed out. I have a video I should deinterlace but that option is not available.

You might get virus alerts when using v1.27.3, tho. If you do, just go down to rlev11's post on how to "fix" that.

The link on page 1 should work again, now, and you could have also got v1.26.0 from here:-

https://www.videohelp.com/software/RipBot264

I still can't for the life of me, understand why Atak doesn't update page 1 & VideoHelp....(I need to bite my tongue, here)

As for the deinterlacing, even tho you might think it need's it, if RipBot264 doesn't think it does, then there's a problem.

You'd probably need to create a custom script so you can force it to, or use a different app.

i'm using ripbot264 version 1.27.3 and lately no matter what I try some movies I try to encode from mkv to mp4 don't seem to encode properly and are not recognized by my tv. After movie encodes I transfer file into my portable hard drive as I always do and my tv will say file unsupported. Other movies encode fine it's just some of the other movies and tv episodes that don't work.

Interesting, could you provide a small sample of one of the movies that "don't work" ??

So, it all worked OK before v1.27.3 ??

I noticed problem after installing to newer versions from 1.26 so I did fresh installs of newer versions and problem is still there. I'm not sure on how to provide small sample of movies.

I can also tell which movies will not encode properly by opening file with ripbot and it will tell me please wait probing file and it will take 15 sec or longer to probe file.

Great movie, btw :)

Well done..

OK, to recap, encoding this sample (or the movie the sample is from) from .mkv to .mp4 using x264 doesn't play on your TV with v1.27.3, BUT used to with v1.26.0, correct ??

Why .mp4, not staying with .mkv, and maybe why still using x264 is your TV doesn't support x265 HEVC....

What make, model & age is your TV, just for interest sake ??

I tend to encode to mp4 since it is a more friendly codec for most tv's and is more widely used. I noticed this problem even on 1.26 so I really don't know what is going on. I have been using Shutter Encoder because of this problem. My tv is a Samsung 4k and is a little over 2 years old and supports all types of codecs. Most newer movies do not work properly with ripbot so like I stated I have been forced to use Shutter encoder which has been flawless thus far.

Have you tried .mkv, and is the Samsung a 4K TV ??

Still strange that you are having these issues, tho.

But I have found one problem with encoding that complete sample as an x264 .mp4...there's an issue with one of the subtitles, if I remove the troublesome one, it's fine, but that actually caused a "proper" ERROR, and didn't complete the encode at all !!!!

So I have encoded several variants that I try on my LG TV a little later.

Have you tried StaxRip, or even Handbrake ??

I use handbrake as well and it works fine but only problem I have with handbrake is the inability to set my file size like ripbot gives you the option to do. Hmmm I wonder if the subs are what's causing the issues.

Is there a way to completely remove subs from mkv files before encoding with ripbot?

You can do it with MKVToolNix, OR after loading the file into RB, you can remove/disable under the Subtitles tab (MKVToolNix is easier, and it can also "freshen up the video)

So here's the error msg I got, (and it ONLY happened when encoding to .mp4

Funny that it didn't encode for you. When I encode any troublesome file it completes like normal but will show as an unsupported file on my portable hard drive when connected to my tv. I never get an error after the encode completes but sucks really because I won't know file is unsupported until after I transfer it to my portable hard drive and hook it up to my tv.

Maybe you need to send a sample of the unsupported encodes...

I just test played all the files, and they played with no issue.

So there must be some annoying issue at your end.

First subtitle is just an empty file. It contains 3 bytes of data( Byte Order Mark). MP4 muxer does not like that. MKV is more forgiving.

Also I do not like that resolution in your file!

Width : 1 918 pixels
Height : 802 pixels

This might be a reason why file is reported as unsupported. Resize to 1920x800 before encoding. General rule is that width and height should be divisible by 16.

You'd probably need to create a custom script so you can force it to, or use a different app.

I uploaded the video here in case someone is willing to investigate: https://www.mediafire.com/file/m7b0oldwibvyx45/pieni_testi.mkv/file

There are two issues:
- Ripbot doesn't allow to deinterlace
- Duration of the video is detected incorrectly. Ripbot halves its duration. Duration should be 5 min but now it's 2 min 30 s.

Can't help with Ripbot, but your clip is at 25fps and it is progressive, ie, not interlaced, so the metadata is incorrect.

Problem with your video

Select no audio
Press Avisynth button, go to Output speed, select 25 fps
Encode the video
Use mkvmerge to manually join the audio

Well, you know where to go, if there's a next time :)

Strange it was subtitles, tho.

I couldn't even load it until I removed the audio track
So you encoded it successfully?

I uploaded the video here in case someone is willing to investigate: https://www.mediafire.com/file/m7b0oldwibvyx45/pieni_testi.mkv/file

There are two issues:
- Ripbot doesn't allow to deinterlace
- Duration of the video is detected incorrectly. Ripbot halves its duration. Duration should be 5 min but now it's 2 min 30 s.

Your file is incorrectly muxed.
Remux that file with added fps value

That's just a different way to what slalom suggested.

If you fix fps directly in mkv container then audio will work fine as well. Deinterlace option will also be available in ripbot.
That's the proper way of dealing with incorrectly created mkvs.

Didn't know that, good tip!

Remuxing and setting 25fps manually in mkvmerge seemed to help. Thanks for everyone.

I have noticed that I am getting random glitches in some of recent encodes.

I just finished GoT, and in all those episodes, I only had 1 or 2 instances, in the early going, but I figured out what was causing that, and didn't have any problems.

I have started encoding some movies, and they have returned.

I'd be interested in what part of the process could cause this, would it be the initial demuxing, or the encoding (x265 / ffmpeg, etc) or the muxing of all the chunks

Here's a sample of what I am talking about:- (thanks to the segment feature of RB, made this easy :) )

Note:- the originals are good to go....
