I still get random Encoding Client drop out's, and have to force everything closed.
Then it will go for however long, and do it again, it's VERY random :(

I still have not had any issues since I turned off auto updates and copied back in the EncodingClient.exe version 1.18.3.0. Anything past that version I always had the same issue with the client window just dropping out for no apparent reason. Rock solid with the older version.
Everything else in Ripbot is the latest versions that are part of the auto updates. I periodically turn auto updates back on, see if anything updates, then turn it back off and copy back in the .exe again.
I believe the latest version that still failed for me is 1.19.2.0, so if I do see a newer version in the future, I'll try that out first just to see. As long as 1.18.3.0 keeps working, I don't really care that much....

Good to hear from you rlev11, it's been a minute.
Yeah, I am currently using the latest, and 95% of the time it works well, but then you have "those days" where everything seems to go wrong, and it's annoying (thank goodness for DE, at least it's not ALL lost).
Like yesterday, I was watching all the screens, then just like that, the EC window just disappeared, so I let the 2 ES screens finish, then forced everything closed, and started again.
No updates since last August, unless you do them yourself.
I have been thinking it would be great to have a Dark Mode option, I think RB in Dark Mode would look great.
Cheers.
PS:-I have been running EC 1.19.2.0 in Windows 7 compatibility mode today, just to see what happens, after all RipBot IS created on a Windows 7 machine, as far as I know.
So far. so good.
Oh well, that hasn't worked for long enough....need to look for a 1.18.3 build.

Are you running W10 or W11? (not that that should make too much difference).
Thanks for the response.

Funny story...
I recalled that you posted a collection of .exe's for many versions some time ago, so I went looking, and found the post
https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=2012363#post2012363
However, Google reported that the file had a virus, and only the owner could download it :(
Sorry, this file is infected with a virus.
Only the owner is allowed to download infected files.
But, I knew I had to have 1.18.3.0 somewhere, as I'm a hoarder, and I managed to find 1.18.3.0 & 1.18.4.0, ready to try tomorrow.
So I appreciate that you went to the trouble of posting a "fresh" 1.18.3.0.
Cheers.
UPDATE:- For whatever reason, neither 1.18.3.0 or 1.18.4.0 did not work, I had the dreaded Authentication errors, and it wouldn't/couldn't connect.
I remember this happened way back when W11 24H2 dropped the WMIC support, can't remember exactly what transpired, but I think Atak worked a bit of magic, but maybe "we" need a bit more magic.
Bizarre how random it is, not only for me & you, but other users that don't seem to have the issue.
Of course it ONLY happens when using DE, but RB without DE, is like Handbrake.

I'm getting so sick of these random Encoding Client drop outs, and having to force everything closed.
It will do several jobs without issue, then it will drop out several time on another job...
I MUST have something installed on this PC that RB just doesn't like, but I don't know what it could be.

1.18.3 probably still works for me since my client machine is an upgraded Win11 box so WMIC is still on it from the earlier versions. Not sure of any software that could be doing the issue, I have tried setting up a bare install box to use as a client and the encodingclient still drops out periodically with a newer client version.
My understanding is that WMIC will be completely removed in the next Windows feature update which may break my setup. So if a newer encodingclient version still is giving me issues, I'll just use one of my older and slower machines just as a client, load a pre 24H2 version, and just turn off updates, or I might even just load Win10 on it as all it would do is serve as a Ripbot Client. Just the client running uses minimal system resources.

Yes, I remember all this WMIC crap that went on a while back, and Atak did something that worked (for some users), but like you say, if the future Windows are getting rid of more stuff, we're going to end up not being able to use RB at all, in the end.
Not too many users want to stay on "ancient" version of Windows, just for one app.
It would be greatly appreciated if Atak was able to take the time and refresh RB, so that it works hassle free, in the future.
I have however thought I might go back to either W10, or pre W11 24H2, but again, that's not a long term fix :(
I wonder if there's some sneaky way of adding WMIC from a version when it still worked, and put it where it's supposed to live, and try and get it to work.
I might spend a little time, and see if I get a favourable result, there's YT clips about it, but you never know how legit they are.
Again, as you said even if you install an earlier version, when WMIC still worked, and then updated to latest version (if possible), will that process work on even later builds of Windows ?!?!?
I did read that Powershell now does "WMIC" type functions, not sure if that has any relevance here, though.
It would be advantageous if other RB users that are running W11 chimed in, to make a comment.

Surprise, surprise, surprise, "we" have an update.
Changelog:-
v1.27.6
Fixed: Audio delay not applied if COPY STREAM was selected
Fixed: DownloadPoster application
It seems ES & EC are unchanged. :(
The next day:-
I installed all the new updates, hoping beyond hope that it might fix the EC dropouts on W11 25H2...I started the queue (which currently has 425 Jobs), and only having the one PC going, it got thru 3²/³ jobs, EC dropped out right before my very eyes :(.
It seems that the ONLY course of action, for me, is to install an earlier W10 or W11 version, and use EC 1.18.3 as rlev11 is having to do (but we need WMIC for even that to happen).
So I happy to see that Atak at least posted some updates, but unfortunately did not resolve this ongoing problem.
It's just dropped out again, after going for about 5 minutes :(

FYI rlev,
Since this post, I installed a fresh W11 23H2, did all the available Windows updates for 23H2.
Then running RB with 1.18.3. and it worked flawlessly, so I went to 1.18.4. and it's also working flawlessly, not game to go up any further, just in case the newer builds might conflict with the massive queue of jobs I have atm.
Now, Windows update wants to install 25H2. fortunately, I can stop that from happening (for now).
Concerned that will completely remove WMIC, and again I don't want to risk it. Maybe once I've completed the current queue, but I have hundreds more to run, so maybe not for a long time, at this stage.
Shame really, we can't be running old versions of Windows just to keep RB & DE happy.

Create Custom script with these lines.
Hiya,
Great seeing you again, mate. Still a fan of your brilliant work. So, here’s the issue. If the source only has 2.0 audio, the audio encoding settings never show 5.1 choices like 5.1 FHG AAC-HE. I end up having to set it manually like this:
ffmpeg -y -i "input.mkv" -fflags +bitexact -map 0:a:0 -c:a libfdk_aac -af "volume=7dB" -profile:a aac_he -ac 6 -ar 48k -ab 300k -afterburner 1 -signaling explicit_sbr 6ch.m4a
So, would it be possible for you to add an option for that? Thanks a lot.
Cheers,

What is the point of encoding stereo audio as 6 channels? Also WHY 300kbps with AAC-HE?!?

Hiya,
So sir, my audio profiles can be seen at: https://katb.in/awoficekeva. As you can see there, all of these: 5.1 OPUS CODEC, 5.1 FHG AAC-HE, 5.1 FHG AAC-LC, 5.1 FFMPEG AC3m, and 5.1 FFMPEG AC3 will not appear whenever the source only has 2-channel audio. With the option I requested, I could simply choose whichever one I want to use, instead of manually encoding it every time. Another point is home theater / tv compatibility. Some platforms are simply more "comfortable" accepting 5.1 formats. I truly hope you can consider adding this feature. Thank you very much, sir.
Cheers,

Hiya,
Ah, ic. What I actually already said was "compatibility". So sir, what I'm trying to convey is more about achieving a consistent 6-channel sound experience across all devices, not because the devices don't accept stereo audio. The simple logic is that the OTT services like Netflix would never bother providing 6-channel Atmos if there were absolutely no difference in sound experience compared to 2-channel audio. That's what I mean, sir. Btw, I still genuinely hope you might consider fulfilling the feature request I mentioned earlier, even if perhaps you may not be too keen on it.
Cheers,
D

@dipais
You can create whatever encodings you like, but you can't ask for them to be recommended, or even suggested, in the software presented here.
I agree with Atak_Snajpera that your proposal makes no sense:
- Stereo is always more compatible than 5.1
- volume=7dB distort by clipping normalized audio
- aac_he is also less compatible
- 300k is a lot for an AAC-HE with 4 empty channels, even for an AAC-LC

ALL updates are governed by what Atak wants to update !
There are many "tools" or components that have not been updated for a long time.
As he says, "if it ain't broke......"
You can very easily update as many as you like, manually, by simply over writing the existing ones, just make sure that they are in the correct folders, and named the same, especially x264 & x265 .exe's.

Could you kindly consider adding an Audio Volume Adjustment in the Batch setting's page.
I have a huge amount of TV series video's that need a little volume bump, and Batch hasn't got the option.
Maybe it could replace "Normalize", which I have actually noticed causes an error (if I remember correctly).
Adding any type of audio adjustment as a "Custom" script doesn't work !!!. I have tried it many times, either causes an Avisynth error, or doesn't make any difference.
