Hi Atak,

This has probably been asked before, sorry.

I have just done a fresh Windows 8 Pro set up, on an IVY 3770K, installed Ripbot, and the other things it needs, and during the 1st "test" encode, using DE, and a couple of extra servers, I keep getting this error :- "H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) encoder has stopped working".

Now I know that you aren't using Win 8 yet, but is this a separate issue ??? Do I need to install a Codec pack ???

Any suggestions :o

Might have to go back to Win 7 (which isn't such a bad idea)

Cheers

EDIT:- FIXED, it appears that I had it just a little bit too much overclocked..I went to your 1st page, and there's a "note" about x264 crashes. But I did also get the latest x264.exe (that didn't make any difference)

Hey everybody

I have audio sync problems

I have a m2ts (VC-1) file and I just want to get a mkv file with best quality.

But everytime I do the preview the audio is at the beginning like 3 seconds ahead and by the time the delay gets worse and worse.

Can anybody help?

For me win8 is worse than Win7 in almost every aspect.
- ugly theme (where is my beautiful aero glass?!)
- lack of normal more useful start menu (now you have to pay for star8 or startisback)
- lack of desktop gadgets!
- schizophrenic interface (some apps open in desktop some in metro ui)
- mess in start screen after installing many programs
- switching from desktop to full screen start menu is annoying as hell (atleast for me)
- no performance increase in games or programs (see tomshardware.com review)

I guess I will stay with win7 for looong time.

Hi Atak,

I have to agree on nearly every point you made about Win 8.

One good thing I've noticed is the start up time, so much faster than Win 7.

I have been able to get a few "fixes" so I can run gadgets, and can also get a "fix" that makes it look like Win 7, with start button, "normal" start menu, but if you're going to change all that, you might as well stick with Win 7.

Having no Aero Glass is sad, and as for the messed up start menu after installing stuff, takes a lot to tidy it up, but you'd get use to it.

It IS very different initially, but behind all that messed up metro stuff, it's just like Win 7, only "different".

Cheers

Ok, I know, Atak has no Win8, so he can't help,
but maybe another has found a solution.

I installed RipBot264 1.17.4 Preview under Win8Pro 64bit.
newest Haali, newest ffdshow (4499) and so on.
Several encodes went fine.
Issue with new Storage Space feature of Win8Pro (similar to Raids) still exists, but I switched back to Intel (BIOS) Raid, so it is solved.
Now I tried to encode a BluRay with DTS (15xx) to an AVCHD AC3 (640), with temporary use of FLAC.
When in preview, I see error that flac isn't recognized in avisynth.

To resolve Issue, I tried Codec-Pack from Shark007:
Now Flac is recognized, no problem. BUT Video ist topdown!
After deinstalling Sharks Pack and reinstalling Haali and ffdshow video is fine, but flac isn't recognized again.

Any suggestions?!
With Win7 this issue doesn't appear. I have several computers to test, but I want to have at least one with Win8 to test, even when I don't like Win8.

Fantastic program....just one quick question: Is there a guide to some of the settings in the second part of the "Properties" area please? I know I need to deinterlace my file. I just don't know what "TFF", "BFF", "Decimate" etc mean. Not asking for someone to hold my hand....if someone could point me to a manual I would be grateful guys! Thank you! :)

You need the settings TFF or BFF for interlaced material.

very true

I installed Server 2012 (windows 8 based) on my server, which also is used to encoide clips.

and now bepipe won't work, but this was broken by latest .net 3.5 update, problem is windows 8 doesn't allow you to uninstall .net updates :(

can anyone point me to who made bepipe? maybe we can fix this?

I am a BIG FAN of RipBot264 ... absolutely great work.

I was wondering if there was any plan to move the initial demux to the actual processing stage. Right now, you choose an input, and a chapter, and then the computer proceeds to do 5 minutes of processing before presenting you with a screen which lets you choose a filename and options.

The default options work for me just fine, which means that it is a 5 minute wait to enter a filename. When ripping multiple TV episodes, this can be hours just to set up the queue.

Is there any way you would consider allowing a way to enter the filename and accept whatever default would have happened if it went through the 5 minutes, and leave that initial processing to the actual transcode?

Thanks!

Are you sure that you have enough space on C: partition? Is your movie correctly decrypted with latest version of AnyDVD HD?

I have over 500 gb space on my C drive. The movie was decrypted with latest version of DVD fab. Is that an issue? As I mentioned others are working fine, just a few recent new ones. Perhaps different audio streams? Still kinda new to all this. Thanks

Atak_Snajpera:

When I encoded the video (framesize of source video=704x480) always remains at 4:3, then I put in the command line --sar 1:1 to avoid this. It should be the default value 1:1. With other programs as TX264 and Bencos the result is fine.
Another thing: once more ask please check the duration of the audio when muxed with video, can be cut and only with YAMB to separate and reassemble to correct the problem. Thank you.

Hello,

I have a problem with Ripbot. I cannot encode anything, when I load a file and press encode it encodes the video instandly without an output. I downloaded the program several times reinstalled all codecs and required programs, everything on default but the same problem every time. I tried several different video files. I'm using windows 8 X64.

ripbot always checks source aspect ratio . in your case madiainfo detected your file as 4/3 . in order to have correct aspect ratio during playback ripbot calculates correct sar value . in your case --sar 0.909:1000.

when you use 1:1 your video file will have incorrect proportions 1.46:1 . that kind of aspect ratio does not exist in movie industry.

:thanks: Post a link to the first 100MB of the m2ts file. Use mediafire.com or some other reputable upload site. You can cut it with DGSplit.

With that, I'll be able to determine if the issue is with the stream or your processing. What VC-1 decoder are you using?

For the last two days, one encoding client can't connect automatically. When I force it to connect, it starts encoding and then all clients freeze.
I have to abort and restart without that one and it works fine.

Has someone faced this before?

What's that error "Socket error # 10054 Connection reset by peer" ???

Atak_Snajpera

wild guess. maybe firewall breaks connection?

slalom
22nd January 2013, 22:41
Never touched firewall.
After that error, I manually executed muxfiles.cmd, since all parts where encoded. Then I loaded another file to encode and started it.
On the nonresponding machine Ripbot264 was still running and I didn't notice until moments ago that it was encoding too.
A new job has just started with all three clients running, so I don't know what caused the "freezing" problem two days ago.

So, problem solved!

I have a problem of low cpu usage, in the first pass. With my old CPU (AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4Ghz), no problem, but i've update to the X6 1090T, and now my CPU usage on the first pass is between 28 / 40 % (with FastFirstPassin2passMode=1).

my avs is :

#VideoSource

video=DirectShowSource("D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\video.mkv",audio=false).ConvertToYV12()

#Crop
video=Crop(video,0,140,-0,-140)

#Resize
video=Spline36Resize(video,1280,534).Sharpen(0.2)

#Subtitles
Loadplugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\RipBot\Tools\AviSynth plugins\VSFilter\VSFilter.dll")
video=TextSub(video,"D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\French_Forced.srt",-1,23.976)

#AudioSource
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\RipBot\tools\AviSynth plugins\NicAudio\NicAudio.dll")
audio=RaWavSource("D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\audio_French.dtsma.w64",1)
audio=ResampleAudio(audio,48000)

#Delay
audio=DelayAudio(audio,0)

#Normalize
audio=Normalize(audio,1)

#AudioDub
audio=ConvertAudioTo16bit(audio)
AudioDub(video,audio)

#AVSameLength
Trim(0,169561)

I've tested with the MT version of avisynth, and added the parameters "SetMTMode(2,0)" at the beginning of job.avs, but it's more slowest (~ 13/14 FPS).

For the second pass i have no problem, the CPU usage is between 90/100% and FPS ~ 14.

It's not my HDD because i've tested with parameters slower rather than veryslow for x264, and the first pass run at 47 FPS with 60 / 65% CPU usage.

Do you have an idea to how fix my probelm and have a first pass more fast ?

Thx in advance :)

(My OS is Win7 64bit, i use the 64 bit version of x264, just for information)

How do you customize the audio settings to adjust the kbps. Please would very much appreciate a answer.

Can someone please answer my question is there anyway that the user can customize audio settings in ripbot264

One suggestion

In 2-pass, using DE, last chunk is always the biggest. And I suppose everyone (including me) hates having the slowest machine encoding the last chunk.
So can we encode the last chunk first, and then all the others?
Server 1 is my fastest machine, or we could set an IP to always do the last chunk first.
