Topaz Video Enhance AI does not offer CPU MPEG Encoding - depending on the hardware installed, the GPU Encoders are used for AVC and HEVC.... This is only usable for quick and dirty encodes or if bitrate is not important and you can crank it up..... to be bold - the implementations are not very good, only bitrate encoding is offered...
but you could bake your own json file and use any encoder setting you like...
most people output either prores or single images and encode later... in case of a crash, the single image method is the most robust....
I beg to differ...

@Atak
I got three requests:
- Enable Ripbot to pass through attachements of MKV Containers. For example stored fonts for subtitles - these are left out at the moment.
- Enable Ripbot to process more audio-streams than the first one in batch mode (I get that if channel count is different, this is not possible in the current way, since only one profile can be chosen - but maybe the next one helps in this regard)
- Give the option of "bitrate per channel" in the batch mode - this way if a file has one 5.1 stream, one stereo and one 7.1 - choosing a profile like "AAC LC 64kbit/s per channel" would be choosable in batch mode.
Thanx for Ripbot once again. It really is a wonderful program :)
Regards
Some of these have been asked for, several times, over the years, and yet ....
It is a shame that "Batch" hasn't got the exact same options as loading a job "manually" :(

Due to licence issues, x265/4 is not offered in TVAI. Only the GPU Encoders are usable (unless you tweak your JSON Files or compile your own ffmpeg - enabling avisynth and such...)...
So I'm guessin' that you use Topaz ??
So what are these "tweaks" you speak of ?? (an example would be interesting)

you are welcome to do so - but you are mixing up "where to run the inference engine on" and the "video output encoding part"...

tweaks?
you can edit the .json files which include the output presets for ffmpeg encoding. the list of output formats and the settings behind each "encode knob" in TVAI actually gets its info from a JSON file where the ffmpeg call is described in more detail..
so you can add your own output format for encoding as long as ffmpeg supports it.
due to license issues, avisynth input is not compiled into ffmpeg bundled with TVAI - but you can compile everything yourself and include Avisynth. everything is on github.

@ ReinerSchweinlin
Thanks for your information, but as I don't use Topaz all that much, and possibly won't do so, so I don't know too much about where "things" are.
I can't seem to locate the .json files you speak of, so I can't open one and have a look at the info contained :(
I'm sure other's that might read this, and use Topaz more than I, might find it quite useful :)
I'm just a diehard RipBot user, but I do use the Pauly Dunne builds, tho, so I try and do everything I need, with RB.
Cheers.

Hi darkio,
FYI..
If you read this anytime soon, I have managed to get SVPFlow working with RipBot...it's a little complicated, but it seems to output a very nice smooth high FPS encode (well with the 4K HDR10 clip I tested it with).

I've been using ripbot for a while successfully, but when if use batch mode on bluray/M2TS files and select copy stream for audio, once I go into the individual encoding settings, there is no audio & the audio dropdown section just states: ---[NO AUDIO]--- I get this no matter what audio option I select, but I want to use copy stream.
I don't have the problem at all if I do each file individually though, but I'd really like to use batch mode to save a lot of time loading each file individually - is there something I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

Your 1st post was back in June 2015....and some time later, you also asked about this same problem...nice to get some help...not !
What if you ran the m2ts's thru MKVToolNix, you could remove any tracks that you don't want, then load the "new" mkv into RB....

of course, I'm very curious.
Hello,
OK, so on very much closer inspection, I don't think it does such a good job on certain scenes.
There is this particular scene I have been using to test, and if you freeze the frame at just the right moment you can see awful staggered "ghosting" or "haloing" (not sure how to describe it).
I have also tried ConvertFPS(), and ChangeFPS(), and change does it better, that same scene, frame by frame is quite defined, albeit the framerate has been increased to 60fps.
So even tho there is much hype about SVP, I doubt I will use it...might be OK for anime, but not for "live" fast moving HD video.
I think one of the problems might be the changes you have to make to the video for SVP to work (on certain types, at least, like 4K HDR stuff).
Slightly disappointed :(

:):) That's the thing, mkv's work fine in batch mode, ie the audio is recognized and appears, but m2ts's audio will only work if I add them individually, which is a pain when there's a lot of them to do. :( Just to clarify, if I open a bluray with Ripbot, I get the option to load/prepare the main movie itself and possibly some of the other files, but usually doing it that way leaves a number of smaller/shorter duration files that I need to convert to mkv, that Ribot doesn't 'see' when I open a disk, that have to be then extracted from the disk then loaded in manually individually to Ripbot, so I'd much prefer to be able to load the smaller/shorter duration files in via batch mode to save me having to extract them from the disk, then click each one individually to load it. Sorry if this was already obvious, just wanted to be clear!!

TBH, I have never tried to load an m2ts into batch, in fact I don't use batch very much at all, due to it's limitations...
if you need certain functions, you need to create custom scripts that do what you want, and then use that in batch.
But that won't help with your issue. :(
I also don't use m2ts much, as I don't rip disks, if you get my drift
And if I do, I generally run them thru MKVToolNix, as I only want the main movie file..it's only when the m2ts is split, then it's a bit of a pain.
I don't really like m2ts in general, they can be a complicated mess.
Good luck, and you just may have to do it the "long / slow" way :(
1 question...do you use Distributed Encoding ??
UPDATE:- I just happened to find some .m2ts files (Starwars - Solo.A.Star.Wars.Story.2018), and yep, batch just doesn't work with that type, does it :(
Why I asked if you use DE, is if you don't, then you could try other apps.
I just loaded that movie into Handbrake, and it took a little while to sort it all out, but it then displays ALL the available files, and if you knew which ones you wanted, then you could just process them.
Also tried StaxRip, and it only imports the Playlists, so that generally just the main movie...
And Fastflix doesn't seem to like them at all, one file at a time :(

Don't use Distributed Encoding, and have been using Handbrake for the for the groups of odd files that I have been having problems with, but I've noticed, and I don't know if it's me or something I'm doing or not doing (quite possible!) but I've found when using handbrake at the same settings as Ripbot, as far as possible (CQ 22, Slower, Film preset), that the Ripbot files seemed to look noticeably better than the Handbrake files hence why I was looking into trying to get Ripbot batch working for me again... But thank you you for your help, it's appreciated! :)

OK, so do you only have 1 PC ???, because if you have 2 or more, DE WILL be a huge benefit....
Even tho you can get the settings of both RB & HB, approx the same, their process is different, I think.
HB does things that RB can't, and vice versa...it's good to know both.
I generally go for CQ (CRF) 14 - 16 with no presets, like slower, or film, and I pretty much exclusively use x265, you can customise the x265 profile do to all sorts of amazing things.
But as for you being able to get batch to work the way you want, is not possible, AFAIK, it's the way the app has been "written", ONLY Atak could do anything about it. :(

You're welcome..
Yep, x265 is a lot more tunable AFAIK, than x264.
You could have a bit of a read here:-
https://x265.readthedocs.io/en/master/cli.html
I have a lot of custom x265 profiles, and it can change, encoding quality, speed, colourspace, compatibility, etc, etc....
Never too old or late to learn :D

it will only work with MKVToolnix Ver 19 or older.

I personally try not to use M2TS files as I loose chapters and other things. Not to mention that you might have 2 or more m2TS files that are chained together to make the full video file. I've been using MakeMKV to extract the episodes/movies from ripped disc sources. If you are ripping from discs, it would be beneficial to use MakeMKV to make the individual video files to import into Ripbot.

Hi, does anyone know if there is any way to run the Ripbot264 Encoding Server in a docker container? This would be very useful for distributed encoding rather than setting up a windows VM.
Any ideas please?

Any ideas please?
I'd just like to say that I think why you haven't had any response is either no one knows exactly what you need, or it's not possible.
I guess one important thing might be what kind of docker are you wanting to run, and what OS are you running that docker in ??
RipBot is exclusively a Windows based app !!
Why isn't a VM wanted ??
I must add, I have no idea either way, I'm just sayin'...
Good luck.

Hey guy's,
Atak had released a substantial update...will be really interested to see the changes :)
So updated :- core, ffmpeg, mediainfo, mpc, downloadposter, x264, x265.
v1.27.0
Added: Trimming option (Segments)
Added: Better support for mkv attachments
Added: Better detection of HDR video
Changed: Cosmetic changes to UI
Fixed: Various non critical bugs
:thanks: :thanks:
Comment:- I like the new "Segment's" option :) I was having an issue on how to use this new feature, but I've figured it out, and it seems to work a treat :)
Interesting that there is now a "slider" to change between the Avisynth settings pages (now there's 3 of them), and the video preview works quite differently as well,
instead of mpc-hc pausing at the midpoint of the preview clip, it now starts at the beginning, and you have to tap the space bar to make it play (and pause), and it also shows the "time" & "frames" (for editing)
Here's a basic "tutorial" on how to use the new Segment feature:-
https://i.imgur.com/2L7glmF.jpg
NOTE:- This will not "cut" (trim) subtitles, if you want subtitles to be cut with this feature, I think you will have to hard code them to the video prior to using this.
Or go to the trouble of re-timing them afterwards.

Hi TDS
Thanks for that great step by step post.
Its a pity there isnt an option to split soft subtitles.
I found the same issue in MEGUI.
There is a AudSub_Splitter( only for SRT I think) But i dont have the experience to get it to work:-(

OK, another autoupdate....
A new feature, "Cutsub".
Also an update to mpc.
:thanks:
More Info:-
So, CutSub.exe is semi-automatic, (can be enabled, or disabled) if you choose the to add subtitles it will cut them accordingly, when using the Segment Trim option.
And the update to mpc, the preview shows a LOT of info about the clip being processed. VERY nice addition.
===========================================
Basic instructions to add soft coded edited subtitles with new Segment option...
https://i.imgur.com/17hgAe4.jpg
UPDATE:-
I have been checking this Cutsub & Segment option, and I did 3 "trims" on a short clip, with soft coded .srt subtitles (as shown above), and it worked to perfection....
this is a bit of a game changer (sorry for the cliche), but for anyone that wants to edit tv series, or anything, with subtitles & wants to keep them all in sync with the cuts, this is about the best thing around !!!!
You will have to use the new "preview' with all its frame & time counters to determine where the cuts have to be...so a little time consuming, but once you get used to it, it'll be well worth it.
I also need to mention that if you use Batch to load multiple clips, and they require trimming & subtitles, you'll have to go thru EVERY single job, and edit them accordingly. https://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/traurig/d042.gif
Props to Atak, with this new feature & with the tried & tested DE, no other app comes close. https://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/froehlich/k016.gif
And dare I say it, all it needs now is the integration of SMDegrain filter options.
Att, Atak....
It's been a while since you've updated the main default decoder used in RB, for reasons only you know.
But there have been some updates in the past week, that you may be interested in.
The first release was this:-
https://github.com/HomeOfAviSynthPlusEvolution/L-SMASH-Works/releases/tag/20230430
but it had some major problems, for me it caused both decoding errors when adding a new Job, and x265 errors when encoding (with existing jobs).
asd-g was contacted about this, and he released some "test" builds, which fixed the problem...
Subsequently, he has released a newer build:-
https://github.com/HomeOfAviSynthPlusEvolution/L-SMASH-Works/releases/tag/20230507
And that's working as expected.

Is hardware decoding working now? I remember that newer version broke this feature.
Not 100% sure what you mean...if I leave the Default Decoding Options set to CPU in RB, it uses L-Smash...correct ??
I Googled it, Software Encoding is CPU, and Hardware Encoding is GPU....I don't use GPU.
It works for me...
The previous release I mentioned, when importing a new job, it ended in a Decoding Error, and that was that.
The newer "fixed" build, imports jobs no problem.
I guess the best practice is to try it for yourself.
I just wanted to let you know....
UPDATE:-
I swapped out L-Smash in RB, and imported a HEVC clip using CPU decoding, no problems, changed it to GPU decoding, and it imported the clip no problems.

Have you checked if GPU is used during decoding? You may use AVSMeter to verify if script is processed faster with lower CPU usage. Important! Do not use any filters.
Ps. I have AMD RX570 so I cannot test it :(

I think I have a solution to your question, but that sample you provided seems too short for RB to process.
Could you post a sample approx 2 minutes long...I know at that framerate, it will be rather large :(
But if you like, add this to your preferred x265 profile, and see what happens.

You could also give this modded x264 a try, it's still r3107...
x264_tmod_r3107.7z
https://github.com/jpsdr/x264/releases/tag/r3107
I'm not saying that it will fix your issue, but it at least works with RB...just a lot more info displayed in the Encoding Server window..
Good luck. https://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/haushalt/g030.gif
Any instructions on this?
On an update?

What instructions do you want ??
Simply download, unpack it, copy it into the x264 folder in RB...rename it as the one thats already in that folder.

Where's your sense of adventure ??
Don't worry about how much bigger it is than the original !!

You have to be kidding me... https://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/konfus/m010.gif
Since when is x264 for x264 and x265 for x265, you can do what you like with either !!
You couldn't even be bothered "testing" with x265, if only to see if the grey frames were still visible.
And it looks like you completely ignored Atak's suggestion.

@ Atak,
I realise why the audio needs to be re-encoded after a "Segment's" edit, but unfortunately, if the clip has a TrueHD, FLAC, (or other) audio track(s), then there is no way to retain that, it's either OPUS, AAC or AC3.
Without the "Segment's" edit, you simply use "X.X Copy Stream" to retain those types of audio.
Is there some way, somehow that these can be re-encoded, or retained ??

ok, as the work hours function doesnt work and using distributed encoding in 2-pass keeps undersizing, is there a way to manually input a schedule into windows schedular that will wake the PC then run ripbot and start encoding?
