Demux the HD audio track with TSMuxer or Eac3to. Check the size.

Re-encode video if necessary.

23830 MB - (HD audio size) -500 MB for padding = target encode size for Ripbot.

ReMux with TsMuxer.

unfortunately it's more complex than that.
star trek was 21106MB prior to muxing
after it is: 23074MB ( I fell a little bit under target size, but under is a lot better than over =) )
so it's a lot more than 500MB of padding. and it seems to vary depending on the length of the movie, maybe the audio track (bitrate & codec or something) and etc. if ripbot allowed 'copy track' for HD audio I would probably be able to get a much closer encode using the avchd output to gauge it, as it's structure is almost identical. right now I just kinda guess...subtract the size of the audio from my BDR size 23866MB, then allow for a gig or 2 of padding

i did scan though a few pages but didnt come across my issue: ripbot on my current pc setup (windows 7 64x enterprise) will only tackle a few blu rays, handbrake will, but Id rather use ripbot...

the two issues , errors i keep coming across are either related to DIRECTSHOW or AVISYNTH
any fix available for these reoccuring issues??

OK ripbot264 requires Avisynth and FFDShow to be installed.

Yeah it works great. now how do i get past the ripbot264 software check? CheckRequiredSoftware=0 doesn't work anymore. Is that not supported anymore? Is there a path I can change in the registry or .ini to tell ripbot where to look? I have the new Haali installed with Shark007 Win7Codecs, and no, I don't want to drop the codec pack and install ffdshow and an old version of haali.

I tested your Joy Park sample and PQ looked fine for those 10seconds however video sample did not stream well (I only run hardwire) and aTV struggled to keep up. I did not try syncing the content to the aTV to see if it played any differently as that defeats point of having a media stream imo.

Looking at mediainfo on the file, I see you have cabac on. That has been known to cause locks of blockiness issues on the aTV not to mention its not officially supported by Apple even though folks have got it to work.

Will be glad to do some other testing if you can post profile you are working on.

The strange thing is it was working the first time, but had a stupid autoupdate that restarted the PC. After that I was unable to do anything. I tried to just rerun the job, but it said it was already complete, but there was no file where it said it was. So I changed destination folder and it started again, but got the abover error. I have updated what I can and uninstalled and reinstalled AviSynth. Not sure what else to do.

I like your program but, some Flv files tend to crash avs2avi.exe or just don't encode nicely.

Also is it possible to save the avisynth script for use on every encode?

I know the TN article I listed in previous post mentions profile 3.1 but the tech specs here ( http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs.html ) specifically state CAVLC.

Now personally I dont know much about either other than the spec for main profile says you should support both CAVLC and CABAC however Apple is known for not playing by the rules.

On separate note do you think you could add 960x540 as a resize option for those of us that have aTV's and is only way to do hi res video at 30fps? :thanks:

How did you rip the BluRay?

I have used AnyDVD and MakeMKV both. Get the same error with ripbot. I have not made any config changes to anything. just standard installs of all required apps. I get the same error with another Bluray as well.

OK why is it in mkv if you ripped it from a disk. It should be m2ts.

MakeMKV will rip directly to MKV.

Makes enforcing rule 6 problematic. That's why I always give people the chance to shoot themselves in the foot. :)

One giveaway is the use of a standard torrent filename, which is not the case here. Looks legit.

@Atak - Pulled down your aTV profile and will give it a shot tonight. Pulling down Elephants Dream to test with in case you need a sample uploaded. Should have an update later tonight.

Using the profile you uploaded, I noticed weightp was enabled which resulted in serious blockiness. With CABAC turned on the aTV seemed to struggle playing the video back.

I did a second encode using same profile and turning off CABAC and Weightp and the video playback was much smoother and there was no blockiness.

I created two 50MB sample files but am having difficulties getting them uploaded to mediafire. If I can get them uploaded later on I will post the links.

I've been using your app for some time now and am very happy with it. Great job.

I know you probably get a ton of requests but I have one I'd like to get on the record. I prefer the mkv container for my encodes but also want the flexibility to use an external Dolby/DTS decoder when watching the videos. MKV can now handle Dolby True HD and DTS-MS audio streams.
Would you please allow for that in a future version?

Correction, DTS-MA is what I meant to say above and that is actually not supported in mkv yet. Only Dolby True-HD. Hopefully the DTS-MA
part will follow soon as well. Either way I'm actually fairly happy with the flac option. Just wanted to get my 2 cents in.

Error msg states file cant be found. Problem as I see it is where is your temp directory. Easiest thing to do is stop using auto in the ripbot ini file and specify a location. Keep it simple and make a directory like C:\Temp.

The old aTV profile has --no-cabac --weightp 0 It always seemed to work
fine for me. Then again the vbv buf size and max have changed to 14000 each
and so has the level from 3.0 to 3.1. I did as mmmmdonut did and got the
same results. Only I used independents day. :p

I don't think ATV was meant to play 30fps @ 720p.

Can somebody please tell me why this version just will not work for me.

If i use the inbuilt profiles its fine but im after great avchd quality.

can you take a look at my 1080p profile and see why its not working with this version, but works with 1.15.0

Over at the handbrake site there was a quick post about x264 dev's stating it was bad idea to use small vbv buf size. Now the profile Atak put together has always been good and through the numerous encodes I have only exceeded the 5000 buffer size once. I dont think bumping the buffer size up to say 10000 and leaving max at 12000 or moving it to 14000 would hurt anything.

As for 3.1 vs 3.0 there is zero difference there. Using 3.1 just cleans up the log files since it raises the bit rate limit.

I do like in the new profile the bump in ref frames. Also new is --aud --nal-hrd which I'm not sure what that setting does as I havent researched it yet. I know I've seen folks talk about it before in the PS3 profile.

change your working directory to tools\mkvtoolnix. Then run the following: mkvmerge.exe -o "C:\Users\KrazdKiller\Desktop\Julie & Julia.mkv" --title "Julie & Julia" --default-duration 0:24000/1001fps -d 0 -A -S "C:\temp\RipBot264temp\video.264" --language 0:und --sync 0:0 -a 0 -D -S "C:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\audio.mp3"


You might want to verify that c:\temp\ripbot264temp\video.264 and c:\temp\ripbot264temp\job1\audio.mp3 exist prior to.

My guess is the error "The system cannot find the path specified" is when it calls mkvmerge. Running the command by hand will help you narrow down where the problem is.

so how do i go about changing the working directory? i have RipBot264\Tools but no "mkvtoolnix"

i created the folder structures on c, and i created the mkvtoolnix folder. i am not finding mkvmerge.exe. i have checked both f and c.
