Guess what mate :) It didn't work. At first it crashed at the 2nd pass (never had that before), so then I replaced the x264_64bit version with the patched one you recommended; no crash but an error pretty much (see below). I run Vista x64

The errors are in the log:

Editing the ini file did the trick!

Now the first 5 seconds are cut off but the end is cut off as well (white picture for 10 seconds). You can try it yourself with the inglorious basterds trailer @ http://us.rd.yahoo.com/movies/hdtrailers/hdpage/inglouriousbasterds/1080/?http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/process/qtlHD.qtl?node_id=11988604&hdtype=1080p

I added Trim(121,0) to the avs script in the properties menu of ripbot

p.s. the audio is way out of sync, it doesn't seem to get trimmed :(

Has anyone had any problems converting 29.97 fps to 23.976 fps? I use a HD PVR to record movies to my PC (1080i, 29.97 fps, 5.1DD) & then convert them to Blu-ray @1080p (AVCHD) in RipBot...my rips have always come out near perfect until I started using 1.13.0 & the next couple of revisions...I load the .ts file, choose Deinterlace > Top Field First 29.97 & then Decimate > Restore to 23.976...the audio & video become completely out of sync & the video stutters...it didn't do this in earlier versions...I loaded up the same file I converted earlier today after updating to 1.13.2 & it played out of sync in the Preview...I went back to 1.12.0 & loaded up the same file & it plays perfectly in sync...I have no idea why...this is in Windows 7 x64bit on a i970 Quad Core w/6 GB of RAM...

New problem that I have had since getting over my first problem (last page)... this one happens in versions 1.13.0, .1 and .2:

http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?image=53979942pt3.jpg

This happens after the rip/demux phase hits 100%. I get this error whether I set ffdshow to wm9 or libavcodec. If I set it to libavcodec the setting will have undone itself (it will be set to disabled) after I have finished trying to demux the movie and have received this error.

I've tried using ffdshow 2633 and 2672 with the same results, my haali is updated along with avisynth. This error does not happen when I use 1.11.5. This is within a Server08 x32 windows installation on a phenom 9600 based computer. I set the use x264x64 setting to 0 in the config.

edit: I'm encoding fine right now using 1.11.5 so it's defintely some how related to the newer ripbot interface... or the programs that comes prepacked with it.

Hi Atak_Snajpera,

Just tested 1.13.2 in x64 X264 mode and still have the same prob on the Panny BD35 standalone but NO probs with PowerDVD i.e when playing a AVCHD DVD9 it hangs, then returns to the beginning of the disc went the skip forward chapter function is used.

But some good news the under file size issue is now fixed at just 4MB short on a DVD9 with DTS soundtrack.

I will test 1.13.2 in x32 mode at the weekend

v1.12.0 is still working

Now the TrueHD problem with TsMuxer has been sorted with a new version. It would be great to be able to keep all HD audio formats for creating 25GB Blu Rays.

for god sake. What is wrong with this player?!?!?!?!?!? 32bit works but 64bit does not??? Technically both use almost the same command line with small exeption. --fps xx.xxx and --frames xxxxx. I loose my patience. I will disable in .ini default support for x264_x64 in next version. Unless somebody will solve this mystery!

^^^
I can't make a sample with the newer version... it fails right after the demux phase when it tries to load up the newly created mkv file. I don't even get to the encoding phase.

For some reason it isn't working with ffdshow to decode the mkv file that the demux process created, if I try to manually bring in the mkv file after the first phase of Ripbot (the demuxing) it will pop up the no decoder error.I can't find any new logs or anything that can further explain this problem... only that the newer versions of Ripbot won't work with FFDshow (2633 or the latest) on my computer. 1.11.5 works reasonably well however...

I use those numbers depending on the quality of the mkv. If it's a 720p re-encode, I will change it to 4480 mb size. It will give a 4.37gb result. You can type any size in the box if you want, it's up to you. I just prefer to keep my 1080p encodes at 7.95gb if possible. The quality and size is just right for me, the look as good as the original BD in my opinion.

I leave it at 3 reframes to be safe. see below:
profile L4.1

Max macroblocks per second = 245760

Max frame size (macroblocks) = 8192

Max ref.frames 1920x1080 = 4

Max ref.frames 1920x816 = 5

Max ref.frames 1280x720 = 9

Max ref.frames 1280x544 =10

I have a quad core @ 3.6ghz with 4gb of ram. They usually take a little over 4 hours to do a 1080p 2pass re-encode. I found that setting it to "low priority" makes little difference in the time it takes, so I leave it on low priority so I can use the computer for other things while encoding. All 4 cores still are just about maxxed out while encoding.

I have both the 3D and 2D 1080p versions of Journey to the Center of the Earth that you're speaking of. The exact same release group I'm sure (HD1080 & BDiSC). And, I also bought the correct glasses - they need to be a special color, not the usual 3d glasses. This movie is amazing in 3D. My kid won't keep her glasses on, so I often watch the 2D version with her.

Kenrippy, once again thanks for all your help, input and explanation of the settings and why you chose them.
i have q6600 so only 2.4ghz (not oc'd though maybe i should) and also 4gb I believe though it reports as 3.25gb. during the 3rd try of reencoding it with your settings, my pc crashed though with only a couple hours left or less so I lost the file. At that point though I realized the original 3d 1080p x264 did in fact work (bdisc). I just really didnt' expect that because remuxed to .ts in tsMuxeR, it didn't, which if anything is usually the opposite (where the mkv doesnt' work but .ts almost always does 99.9% of the time)

as far as
"Max ref.frames 1920x1080 = 4
Max ref.frames 1920x816 = 5 "

it looks like that was the problem cus it was 1920x1080 and 5 ref frames when should have been 4. luckily the pch still played it probably due to fixes in the last few fw updates. the pch can sometimes even play stuff that is higher then L4.1 (which is kind of supposed to be scene standard) but if the file is way off it wont play. I'd still like to know why the .ts didn't play but I think ill stick to only remuxing files with dts to .ts cus the pch still sometimes has some dts studder issues with some files. but it looks the pch can play 1920x1080 mkv even with the incorrect 5 ref frames so as long as it doesn't have dts i prob dont need to be remuxing everything to .ts

As for the movie, yes I finally got to watch it with my wife and make use of the 3d glasses I bought. the movie was fake and cheesy but the 3d was fun. I have a daughter also but is too young to watch it but i like your idea of having the non 3d version as well for when she wont keep the glasses on.

thanks again and ill save your settings recommendations for future use.

Would make some chapter seeking a lot more like the original, especially with these long gops
But I think you'd want to use --min-key-int 1 with them just to be sure the exact frame is jumped to when seeking chapter

Here's a question, with a bit of nostalgia thrown in.

I recently bought a PS3, so I'm converting my HD-DVDs to BD-9s. I am having a very wierd situation with Superman Returns.

I load the main movie in Ripbot (1.13.2) and after it indexes and such, it shows a 480i video, 7 chapters, and only a bit over an hour long. I checked the main movie, and it is 1080p, 2 hours and 39 minutes long with around 41 chapters.

I rebooted, loaded again, same result. I went ahead and ran it, and ended up with the "making of" featurette.

If I manually load the video in eac3to, using eac3toGUI, it shows the same thing. If I use yraen's eac3to_and_more_gui (after I turn off my antivirus), it lists the correct video properties.

Any ideas what's up with this??

If it is 480i and mixed with the movie then it is probably PIP video. I use Clown_BD (along with TsMuxer and eac3to) to create a movie only BD then put the results through Ripbot. You should be able to use the right video and audio that way.

At least version 0.25b is needed for HD DVD or you will not get any video.

Mate I gave up. I ended up cutting the first 5 secs in quictime, then used RipBot. Thanks for the effort though, try doing it yourself, you'll see it's pretty weird
Haha! Do you know what was your problem?!?! VERY simple :) You selected COPY STREAM under audio profile that's why audio was out of sync. Video was trimed but audio was untouched. Here's a lesson for you next time. You must always re-encode audio when you add Trim function!

When this current encode finishes tomorrow I'll do a quick run to make 1.13.2 provide a video log. Thanks in advance.

for god sake.

SAMPLE PLEASE!!!

Hello Atak,

Please do not lose your patience with this issue!

I have now tested on both a Panny BD30 and BD35 running the latest firmware’s and both have the chapter skip/pause lockup issue on RipBot 1.13.0 and newer versions. These standalone players are the 2008 and 2009 multi award winning and popular selling BluRay standalone players in the UK and so a very good benchmark to get compatibility of RipBot working on..

Also please do not lose your patience to drop x264 64bit and not get it working as this can help to reduced encoding times from 25-60mins depending on movie length.

Important new update!
I now cannot repeat the 1 time success of 1.13.1 working in 32bit mode!! So it’s seems the 64bit issue was just a misleading fact and I cannot explain why it now does not work anymore.

I have now have had some time before the weekend to conduct a number of encodes and so make a number test to try and isolate where this issue is coming from. Here are my results findings:

Same movie used for all encoding projects: Bluray – DVD9 +DTS sound track

Software used in all cases:
- MS Vista X64 SP1
- AviSynth 2.5.8
- Ffshow rev 2653
- Haali Media Splitter 1.9.42.1

Results:
1.13.2 - 64bit = Broken
1.13.2 - 32bit = Broken
1.13.1 – 64bit = Broken
1.13.1 – 32bit = Broken
1.13.0 – 64 bit = Broken
1.13.0 – 32bit = Not tested
1.12.0 = Working !!:)

So compatibility stops after 1.12.0.

For the next test to I used 1.12.0 but upgraded the following tools with 1.13.2 versions of the tools:
Eac3to 2.87 --> 3.11
MediaInfo 0.7.8 --> 0.7.11
x264 r1066M --> r1114M

Results:

1.12.0 + Eac3to v3.11 + x264 r1114M + Mediainfo 0.7.11 = WORKING!!! :)

Conclusion:

This just leaves the remaining software different between 1.12.0 and 1.13.2:

RibBot264 v1.12.0 --> v1.13.2 coding
DGAVCDec 1.0.7 --> 1.0.8
DGIndex 1.5.3 --> 1.5.4
MKVToolnix v2.4.0 --> v2.4.2
Oggenc ?.?? --> 2.85
Ssatosrt r? --> r2

Atak: Do these findings now help you to tracking done this issue?

Should I also import the 1.13.2 versions of DGAVCDec, DGIndex, MKVToolnix, Oggenc and Ssatosrt into 1.12.2 and test again to isolate these software’s leaving just the RipBot coding difference that could be causing the compatibility issue with the Panny BD30 and BD35 units?

Please let me know how we can move forward with this issue?

Many thanks in advance for your time and effort put into Ripbot’s making and development... :thanks:

Atak

when I use the latest version of RibBot I get this error after I have added a *.ts file.
"DirectShowSource: I can't determine the frame rate of the video, you must use the 'fps' parameter."

Is this error caused by RibBot or TsMuxer?

replace new 1.13.2 with old one 1.12.0. Let's what happens.

also send me job1.avs and all .cmd (32-bit) files from both versions(12 and 13)

Hi ~bT~

I uninstalled divx but now I get this error "Directshowsource: Graph refused to run: cannot allocate memory beacuse no size has been set, getinfo.avs line 2".
Any idea of why this happens?
