Hi Atak, could you add the option to sleep when finished encoding, or even just the option to run a BAT file will suffice please?

Can't use the Sleep when idle option in W7, as MS can't seem to work out that 4 cores running at 100% is not idle, and it just goes to sleep whilst encoding, so i have to disable sleep when using Ripbot.

Hi, Atak,

thx for you work at first.
Please, why is ripbot v1.17 auto-renaming my Sony camcorder´s files from "anything.m2ts" to just "video.mkv" ?
Before it worked as expected from test1.m2ts to test1.mkv, test2.m2ts to test2.mkv etc...
I have usually 16 files from one recorded miniDVD, its boring to rename them back manualy.
Could you fix it for me, please?

Jimmy,I'll be interested to hear how you get on , I don't use home group either and have a Windows home server 2011, which is on 24/7 so old like to make use of it for distributed encoding overnight.

I'm excited to get it working. I imagine there are higher priorities right now, especially if it's working for non-domain people just fine. I'm quite grateful for the wonderful piece of software. I don't mind being patient and waiting for a while. :D

@james2432, that's correct. RipBot demuxes the audio, subtitles and video out into individual files for re-encoding. You can use mkvmerge to combine them again into a mkv container if that's what you want.

BTW, MPC-HC plays mkv with .sup files without any problems. I'm not sure about media players like Dune or Popcorn Hour.

The Dune HD plays perfectly subtitles(.sup) embedded in the mkv created with RipBot.

I'm using the latest update from January 20th, to encode both Last Man Standing and Last Boy Scout:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Last-Boy-Scout--and-Last-Man-Standing-Blu-ray/10754/#Review

Both use the VC-1 encodes. Both have pix-elated corruption every minute or so. I'm rolling back to 1.16.5 to encode these.

Is there any information I can provide to help solve the issue with this?

Yea, I know. I just didn't want to chop it up into 8 pieces and upload them one at a time. I thought I was doing something good by finding a site that allow 2GB files. I thought wrong. :o

Hello,

which profile would you prefer for encoding DVD-series like "Dexter" to mkv?

In the past I used [MAIN 4.0] HD but I can't hardly see any difference in the resulting files compared to [MAIN 3.0] SD, both with CQ 20 which produces smaller mkv's.

Any suggestions?

I'm a bit confused why the distributed part is not working right now. I'm running the latest code from the 20th. I just finished four encodes using 16.5 to finish up the VC-1 encodes.

I'm starting encoding the entire blu-ray series of Lost. 36 blu-ray discs (yea me :( )
According to Blu-ray.com, it's encoded in 1080i AVC.

The queue was completely empty. I just put the first disc in the queue. Queued up the four episodes. Told it to start, but it's encoding only by itself and not through the distributed tool. I've tried stopping and starting it a few times to no avail. So I'm at a bit of a loss. It was working a couple of days ago. Any ideas?

Edit: It started working again. Cue Twilight Zone Theme

The xbox360 does not support 5.1 sound using h.264. Only WMV files are supported with 5.1 sound. If you want to use h.264, it's stereo only with the 360. There are lots of threads on the Internet that spell this out.

My suggestion is to buy a Western Digital Live Media Hub and watch anything you like at that point. The 360 is not a very good media playback device.

I am a huge fan of Ripbot, and recently updated to 1.17.0.

2 questions:-

Can't for the life of me figure out how, and what is really the use for the distributed encoding...........:o

And also, checking the shutdown box, no longer works for me, I had it checked after I had installed 1.17.0, which should have turned the pc off approx 1 am, but to my annoyance, it was still idling along at 7 am, so it had be on unnecessarily, for 6 hours, it had finished all the encodes, but didn't turn off :(

Might have to go back to 1.16.5...no problems with that version.

Cheers

There was a bugfix update that cured this problem, there may be another bugfix update newer than the one below, have a look back over the last few pages.

I'd like a sleep option, others have also asked, but we get no feed back at all!

PS Distrubuted encoding allows you to make use of multiple computers on your home network, therefore decreasing encoding time. As to the how, the video guide is only half the instructions, you need to have the encoding server running on the other PC.

Added: MKV can also be used in Distributed Encoding Mode.
Changed: 1 min chunks for CQ mode instead of 10 min
Fixed: not working 'Shutdown when Finished'
Fixed: error message in batch mode. Broken video file will be automatically discarded
Fixed: EncodingClient was using Domain-Name instead of Computer-Name
Fixed: Incorrect number of frames between passes in Distributed Encoding. Now number of frames in last chunk will be limited according to stat file
Fixed: corruption at the begining of the chunk. (Encoding Client will first analyze video and then prepare chunks according to I-Frame (key frame) position.)

Still no luck. I've been trying to get this to work non-stop a little each day. Even though there is mention in one of the fix releases of the domain name changed to computer name, my version of the encodingserver.exe insists on using the domain name instead of the computer name. I've verified and re-verified I have the fixed version of the encodingclient.exe and the RipBot executable. I've also recreated a job from scratch with the new versions.

I've been trying to point the call for the domain to a share on the server hosting the domain with some "trickery" but it won't work.

I feel like I'm 99% there, but this one glitch is preventing me from having any fun with this!

I could not figure out how to do batch encodes for the ripped blu-rays I have on the hard drive. I'm doing the 123 episodes of the Lost TV Series right now. It would be nice to have RipBot batch convert every video on the disk that is greater then a certain time, with certain settings. Like CQ, Subtitles, Denoise, etc. As it is, I'm adding each episode one at a time.

Hi Atak,

when I add a job, select as output filename "testöäü.mkv", the name of the file is "test÷õ³.mkv". BTW, I´m using german Windows.

My job1_MuxFiles.cmd:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\RipBot264\tools\mkvtoolnix\mkvmerge.exe" -o "D:\testöäü.mkv" --compression 0:none --title "testöäü" --default-duration 0:25fps "D:\temp\RipBot264temp\video.264" --compression 0:none --language 0:ger --aac-is-sbr 0:1 "D:\temp\RipBot264temp\audio.aac"

The problem is, the job1_MuxFiles.cmd is saved in ANSI, but should be saved in DOS Codepage. I edited the job1_MuxFiles.cmd with EDIT from MS-DOS, saved, doubleclick and voilà, the filename is testöäü.mkv.

I'm assuming you've done the standard update FFshow stuff? If you haven't that may solve your problem. That being said, what are you converting them from? In the past I've had horrific problems with AC3 -> AAC, which apparently isn't that uncommon. When that happens I have to break down and get out MeGUI. That tool using NeroAAC which I find usually solves my sound issues. Usually. Ironically, check out my post that follows...

This is very similar to my problem. I'am trying to recode for android. source is mp4 avc/aac 6 ch. yes i have lastest ffdshow.
The no audio, in my case, comes from when ripbot264 demuxs the source. If you check the working directory and try to play the demuxed file there is no sound. ripbot264 encodes this 'blank' file ending up with a video file with no sound yet it does contain an audio track.

send me sample (source) to www.mediafire.com . 50 mb will be enough.

Fixed: EncodingClient will now try to restart chunks which did not start for some reason
Fixed: error message (Invalid Pointer ... ) in EncodingClient should not longer appear when application is being terminated
