why is there stuff about downmixing and resampling audio in the avs script when I select copy audio? I know something is happening with the audio cause I usually select Cut but is it actually re-encoding the audio? I don't want to re-encode a lossy format, I want to preserve the quality of the original ripped audio track.

Also, is there any way you could add support for unicode .srt files? I currently have to convert my subs from unicode produced .srt files output from suprip to ansi. not that big of a deal except that there are certain special characters i loose when doing that...like the music symbols that are in some subtitles (like eastern promises has them a lot.) What settings are being used in tsMuxer for subs? (Font, size, offset.) Is there a way for me to specify those settings used?

I've been having some problems creating a proper encode of Underworld Evolution from bluray. The bluray says the movie has a 2.40:1 AR which is displayed in the .ts that I created when I ripped the movie. However, once I load the .ts into ripbot and try to crop the borders automatically, ripbot overcrops. I've always used 'crop automatically' and have never had a problem yet. I suppose there's a first for everything.

I tried cropping manually by going back and forth between the preview and ripbot, but at some point the preview stops showing the cropping changes.

Originally I thought that the bluray was incorrect with the AR and trusted ripbot's analysis. However, once I looked at the mkv, the video seemed squished (--> <--) horizontally. I also looked the credits and they were not centred. Instead, they were more towards the bottom-right corner.

I will attach a sample of the original .ts and the final .mkv as soon as mediafire have completed their server maintenance. I have attached .jpg's of the problem I encountered. autocrop.jpg shows what ripbot automatically crops the movie to and autocrop.preview.jpg shows what the automatic crop looks like in terms of the video.

Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks.

Edit: I'm using v1.12.0. nocrop.preview.jpg shows what the movie looks like without cropping.

The reason I ask is because when encoding at level 4.0 and using --vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 24000 I get a warning about bufsize (25000) and maxrate (20000) level limit.

I just recently moved from Vista Ultimate 64-bit to Windows 7 64-Bit...I also updated my copy of RipBot from 1.11.5 to 1.12.0...prior to the update, everything worked correctly but since the update, I can't see a preview in wmp classic...the encodes still work, but when I attempt to preview them, I get: Cannot render file...using 1080p files or 720p...mostly using .mkv files (occasionally .ts or .m2ts files) all w/DTS or 5.1DD audio...I'm using a i7 920 quad core cpu w/6 GB of triple channel memory, if that helps...I believe its a codec issue, just not sure how to fix it...the research I did, it was suggested to install the K-lite codec pack (which I know I don't want to do using RipBot)

Try reinstalling AviSynth.

Yea, the entire movie is quite dark. No cropping required for left or right?

Thank you for the advice. I uninstalled Avisynth & ffdshow then re-installed them...using the newest build of Avisynth & for ffdshow, I'm trying the rev 2605, I read that it's supposed work well w/a fast cpu. I have a i7 Quad Core so I should be good w/that. After reinstalling these, I'm able to get the preview showing in WMP Classic. Now, my problem is the audio is out of sync when playing the preview. If I play the files in Nero Showtime, it plays in sync. Does anyone know what could cause this?? Thanks again for the help, it's much appreciated...

...I was using rev 2615 20090112 clsid but read that the mt version would give increased performance (speed) when encoding...you had mentioned getting like (correct me if I'm wrong) like 80 fps, is that right? That's amazing, I'm lucky to hit the high 30s during the 1st pass...I had an AMD FX-60 before I rebuilt my main PC (mainly to speed up my encodes) & I can do 3-4 jobs @ 1080p w/either DTS or AC3 (8150MB) in the time it would take me to do 1 on my older rig...if you have any suggestions what I can do to increase the speed, please let me know...thanks for all your hard work, Atak!!

I just tried Ripbot264 version 1.12.0 on Window 7. It told me I needed to install Splitter and ffdshow which I did. But when I add a video it does not index, it just sits there. No errors, it just does not index or return. The filename does not show up in the Video text box and no entry is in the status bar.

I did have the old version running on WinXP.


UPDATE====================================

I went into Ripbot264.ini and changed the DefaultOutputPath and StoreTempFilesin to point to locations that I knew Win7 could read and write to and then it started working properly.

There must be others like me who have never run across whatever was used the "compress" this executable.

Simple instructions would be nice.

I'm using the latest version..1.12.0.

I'm encoding some clips for my Walkman. which only plays Baseline L@1.3 files.

If I use CQ 22 (or any other number)...the file worked fine.
But if I use the 2pass mode...it won't work. So I decided to check why...

Upon checking with Avinaptic...I found out that by using 2pass mode, the file generated uses Baseline L@4.1 when I check with Avinaptic...Here's the data generated by Avinaptic

Ya, after I figured out that .7z was related to that. When I noticed that there was a link to MediaInfo.7z, the common .7z gave me the hint to try 7z with Google :D

I noticed that the .m2ts file was 93MB, which is wrong, as it should be a lot smaller and H.264. That seems to be a MPEG-2 compression of the original MPEG-2 file (200MB @ 37Mbps). How do I make it do H.264 for AVCHD?

After the .bluray folder was created, I just burned the contents of that folder onto a DVD (which contained two folders). Is that not correct?

You need to build an image. You can't just burn the contents to DVD.

The best way is to remux the cut movie with tsmuxer first - you can cut the movie to any length you want - then add the cut movie into ripbobt. Downside is that ripbot will sometimes then produce an OOS sound especially if the original movie files are multiple joined or if sound is trusound.
