Help! What's happening please?

I have just installed the latest version using Ajax's installer and on my first job, just before I get to the configuration screen Media Player Classic pops up with the following message: DirectShowSource : Timeout waiting for graph to start. (J:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\getinfo.avs, line 2)

Can someone advise what the problem is please?

Hey I just found this program BDSup2Sub v1.9 and it works great in conjunction with RipBot264 to get subs working. You must have Java installed. It is very fast and also supports commandline so maybe it could be added as a tool in RipBot264.

According to this page (http://www.osta.org/technology/dvdqa/dvdqa6.htm), there are 1,463,386,112 bytes in a miniDVD, therefore the number of megabytes is 1,463,386,112/1,048,576(number of bytes in a MB)=1395.59375MB

Since Atak has rounded down from 4482+ to 4480, and 8152 to 8150, if I were you I'd try rounding down to 1393 or 1394.

P.S. To be absolutely precise about your particular media, you should look at what ImgBurn has to say about its precise capacity in bytes, then divide by 1,048,576 as above. :)

i started getting error right after reinstalling win 7. i installed ffdshow , haali splitter and avisynth. then ran ripbot264 and i getting directshow error. however i got an error when doing bourne ultraim blu-ray but it works fine with converant blu-ray. bourne ultraim video is vc-1 and converant is mpeg2.
i can use ripbot with bourne with vista just not win 7.

Can you post the log. It should be in the log folder inside the folder that ripbot264 is installed. (ie ripbot264\logs\Log.log) (Ill bet it a security problem with Win7.) Are you running the latest build or the beta.

It might have something to do with the patched UAC...

Since i cannot send you the log.log because there isn't a log when i got the message. but i can send you the getinfo.avs and video-log.log file to see what is wrong with it. I installed windows 7 build 7057 right now. this is when i got the same error msg " DirectShowSource : Timeout waiting for graph to start. (J:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\getinfo.avs, line 2)." when i try to encode again.

i dont know if it is true, i just tried another vc-1 movies. Ripbot still say the same error msg about Directshow. is there anyway i can fix the error msg for vc-1.

Post the Video - log.log info... Attachments are don't work... Open up the log with notepad or other text editor copy whats in side then post it... Use the Tags.

I have no problems with vc-1 streams on my laptop (windows 7 build 7000). make sure wmv9 decoder is set in ffdshow for vc-1

vc-1 decoding should work even without ffdshow because Vista and Windows 7 have microsoft's decoder installed by default.

Ok, I have encountered some problem with the aspect ratio of a .mkv file I transcoded. The transcoded file has a wrong aspect ratio. I converted a h264 AC3 .mkv with softsubs to an AAC 2.0 h264 High4.0 profile .mp4.

Playing the original file in MPC HC ffdshow shows these values:

704x480, SAR: 213/176, DAR: 71/40

The job log shows the following two lines:

x264 [info]: 704x480 @ 23.98 fps
x264 [info]: using SAR=1/1

Playing the resulting file in MPC HC ffdshow results in:

704x480, SAR: 1/1, DAR: 22/15

I'm by no means an expert in this, but my guess would be that the original file seems to have some strange 22:15 resolution, which is stretched by the player to 16:9 because of some flag/information in the .mkv. And while converting maintains the resolution, it kills the aspect ratio.

While I realize that ripbot features the setting "Size" in the "Properties" menu where my setting was "Do not resize" and the resolution is actually the same, it makes me wonder whether .mp4 can't handle the "it's actually 16:9" Information or some kind of error on my/ripbot's side. With that in mind, shouldn't maintaining the original aspect ratio be more important then maintaining the resolution?

But I admit, that keeping the aspect ratio and omitting the information of 704*84 pixels (since the corresponding 16:9 resolution would be 704*396 instead of 704*480) seems like it's not the best deal either. So is there no way out, like e.g. the way it's handled in the original .mkv just as .mp4?

select 720x480 under size and everything should be ok. Your resolution is not DVD-NTSC standard resolution. Correct sar values are only applied for 720x576 , 720x480 ,1280x1080 and 1440x1080. Rest is treated as 1:1.

Your resolution is not DVD-NTSC standard resolution

IIRC 704x480 is a valid resolution for dvd.

The resizing trick worked! But now I noticed other issues. I guess I have no luck with video encoding...
I transcoded two different files. The first one is just 1 minute long (h264,2.0 AAC, .ass subtitles). In the resulting .mp4 the audio and subtitles are slightly off. The subtitles (dis-)appear a little bit to early. Same goes for the sound.
The other file is a 50 minutes long (h264, ac3, .ass subtitles) video, also transcoded to .mp4. Audio and subtiles are in sync but appear way to early. In the original the first spoken dialogue is at 01:10 (with the corresponding subtitle) but in the .mp4 it's at 00:23. As I said, subs and audio are in sync, but not with the video. Another strange thing: MPC HC shows a running time of 50:55 for the .mkv and the transcoded .mp4 shows only 50:08. strange.

Encoding was always set to .mp4, AAC 2.0, 1-pass CFR H264. Done on Vista buisness 64. I had the CCCP installed but deinstalled it in regards to the first post in this topic. I installed the latest ffdshow and haali media splitter manually.

I'd like to second that request! I know it seems like a small thing, but it would make a big difference in ease of usability. White against pale blue really doesn't provide very good contrast. :)

I am thinking about buying a PS3 for my next Blu-ray player and have a qouple questions. I read somewhere in hear that you own a PS3 and was wondering if you are able to stream blu-rays to it. If so, are you able to toggle the subtitles on/off or do they have to be burnt into the stream.

I have a home server with about 100 Blu-rays in .iso format and am looking for some type of streamer that will allow me to toggle subtitles on/off. I need this for my wife, she is hearing impaired.

I have a small observation to report here, don't know if its been said before. When I'm converting wide screen videos for my psp, it seems if I go to change the resolutions, they are a bit off. For example, for the PSP, it has a selectable resolution of 480x270 when the actual PSP screen resolution is 480x272.

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody else is having a problem doing two movies on que? Everytime i try and do two movies overnight the second one always fail. The first movie is perfect. When i do the second movie by itself, it works perfect. Happens to me on both of my computers. One is a Phenom x2, the other is a core i7 both with vista 64, and with the latest ffdshow, avisynth, and Haali Media Spliter. I have no codec packs installed. I have attached the log. Something about enoder errors which only happens when doing two movies.

Ok, I noticed something strange. Like I said the file shows 50:55 in MPC HC. That is the actual length. The transcoded file (via ripbot264) is 50:08. The difference is 47 seconds. Now take a look at the chapters list in the mediainfo log below. it says:

But when I play the file Haali media splitter shows:

Notice the starting time of the first chapter. It's 00:46. And the first 46 seconds of the original file (the "Cellphone Reminder" chapter) contain actually only video, no audio or subtitles.

Now I'm no expert at this, but I thought that maybe it's related to Matroskas linking feature, magically embedding the first 46 seconds from another file. But even if I turn this option off in the haali splitter and open the file with WMP (or MPC HC) they both show 50:55 as runtime.

Seems to me like the encoder of the original mkv shifted the audio/subtitle-stream by the length of the first chapter.
But seems like that is not all... the video in the transcoded version at 50:08 is somewhere around 49:58~50:00. Seems like everything is messed up.

I guess that's the result of the tenthousands of things you can do with .mkv. In theory it's all nice but when you start working with it, it's all messed up. Seems like I won't re-encode any files in the near future :)

do this:

in haali installation folder you will find mkv2vfr.exe (you can use windows search to locate the folder!)...copy your .mkv to this folder...open a command promt and run this command line:

mkv2vfr.exe my_mkv.mkv my_avi.avi my_timecodes_v1.txt

post the content of the .txt file here...

I had 2 jobs in my queue, and the first job said that it was done and it was working on the Job2 (2% first pass).

Job1=*DONE* 00251.m2ts -> 00251.bluray
Job2=00244.m2ts -> 00244.bluray

I clicked on "Abort job" and went to look for 00251.bluray folder and it wasn't there. I only had ~18 Gig of HD space left. Has anyone else run into this issue?

RipBot seems pretty cool. I currently use handbrake but handbrake needs an extra step to do bluray. One thing I would love to see in ripbot:

For the apple TV, it accepts 2 audio tracks, a AAC track and an ac3 track. This technically isn't supported by the mp4 standard wrapper, but the apple tv plays them back. I believe the ac3 track needs to be the second audio track. Any chance this could be added? Seems silly to have a apple tv preset without supporting the apple tv's ability to do ac3.

thanks for your help Atak_Snajpera and b66pak. Finally found the reason for the problem. The chapters in the original .mkv were messed up, but for some reason this doesn't affect any player during playback (guess we have to thank Haali for this) so I presumed that the file was ok and therefore the reencoding had to be the problem.

I'm sorry for taking up your time and trying to blame the problem to ripbot. Won't happen again. And a little anecdote at the end: While the file with the messed up chapters plays just fine with Haali's Splitter in video players as mentioned before, mkv2vfr.exe (by Haali too) created an .avi without the very first chapter :)

Is it possible to add the subtitles that are soft subbed on a mkv video when converting by a way other than having to extract the subtitles first from the mkv file? Doesn't seem you can select the subs inside the mkv file when converting.

But I have a simple problem in converting my blu-ray-movie. I've installed all the tools, and ripbots exits the process without any error. But the final movie has no sound. VLC tells me, that their is no soundtrack.

I think, the solution is only one click in ffdshow or in the other tools, but dont know where to click in the settings.

Can you Atak oder somebody help me?
Perhaps theire is a install guide for the tools ffdshow, Haali Media Splitter and Avisynth in this forum?
