You are just reducing degradation effect during lossy compression. Keep in mind that picture quality will be still worse than original due to lossy nature of compression. It is something like copying VHS tapes (worse quality) to BETA tapes (better quality) or audio cassette type-I (iron oxide) to type-II (chrome).

Wow, what has this got to do with what I asked...or is this replying to another post.

OK, so you told me what Ripbot uses to mux, but what is used to govern the bitrate of an encode ??? If not mkvmerge ???
I believe FFMPEG is the main engine but you also use the codecs.
What governs the bitrate is the settings you tell the encoder to use.

Atak,

Just discovered a very new version of ffmpeg 20180809

Yes if you select .m2ts file. COPY STREAM option will appear in Video profile combobox.
https://s22.postimg.cc/ec4n3qi1t/Untitled-1.png

So I tried this.....you could have mentioned that it removes the Avisynth options.

So, in this scenario, MKVmerge is better...for basic's.

When you're doing Copy Stream you're not encoding, you're just copying files

But I bet he can see the better quality ;)

Hint: if you encode to a higher bitrate without any filters, the resultant will will be lower quality.

In special cases you can encode with filters and result in a higher visual quality, but very high bitrate sources are not those cases.

This is just a case of confirmation bias.

Not sure why but RipBot is changing é to Θ when muxing the files after an encode.
The filename displays correctly in the queue.
I'm having this issue on a Windows 10 machine.
Using RipBot Core 2018.07.11
Example:
Pokémon XYZ - 0889 - From A to Z! [iTunes DL 1080p] (Arian)
Into:
PokΘmon XYZ - 0889 - From A to Z! [iTunes DL 1080p] (Arian)

mkvtoolnix & ffmpeg !!!

Nah, the MKVToolNix works and the updates to MKVToolNix are generally minimal. FFMPEG same situation.

As for Codecs he is almost always on top of it.

I was just trying to be cheeky.

The only thing in RipBot as far as features that I've been looking for is better queue management.

I know FFMPEG crashes sometimes but almost always doubling my Encoding Servers (ie slowing per thread FPS) seems to keep it from crashing as much when it comes up for some videos more than others.

since the new verison i cannot put "B" in ini to my hard drive. i forgot we have to pus b and not B that why when i changed the ini file that cause me problem! i just write if other person forgot like me.

question#2 what is this https://imgur.com/6MkjNLJ new option i want to know when the degrain filter and the other one are used ? if i encode a full bluray.because in the past this option was not their,by default it was at on or at off? in the past? for encoding full bluray. if the anser is no why you activate it by default in the new version 1.23 i test last night.

#3 by the way you broke the subtitle .sup bluray sub when you check convert to "dvd sub" the subtitle preview is broken now no more preview why you have and idea?!

the shutdown option is now confusing !!

and i dont have shitty codec pack im not a noob like you could think.

What do you suggest?

byteshare
13th August 2018, 17:19
What do you suggest?
First, I find it very manageable right now and again thank you for your work.

The main feature around queue management I'd like would be to more easily move one or more items in the queue up in priority, without having to turn off jobs in front of them. I don't want the queue to stop once the jobs I need are done (if I turn off the other jobs to more easily "move" the priority) if I'm not around to re-enable the other jobs.

I use a macro key board so what I've been doing for a while now is I have it auto click for me and I move 1 item at a time.

I might be an edge case because I tend to have 100 or so jobs at anyone time.

Right now I don't move things to the top of the queue every day but I believe that is mostly because I don't want to move 10-12 items 1 at a time most of the time. When I do it, it is because I really need something done sooner.

Thank you for your interest.

Do you not see it as an option in the settings in the GUI? I wouldn't directly edit the .ini file.

That new option ("Limit to the...") is to not use MT by default as it can be unstable with some filters...that said I have it set so it uses it with all of my filters and it does cause some issues but generally not that many...and a work around for my specific issues is usually start more Encoding Servers.
The option above that is to MT at all or not.

#3 by the way you broke the subtitle .sup bluray sub when you check convert to "dvd sub" idx,sub is not dvd sub by the way,the subtitle convert nothing and nothing appear in preview!
I haven't had issues with it. Might be specific to the files you're using. I did stop using it about a month ago and decided to just batch mux subs directly from source to keep title info in the MKV metadata.

#4 when you close ripbot you lose your files in queud !!!! another new bug.
Do you mean files in the batch file list? I haven't had that issue. I have had old jobs (ghosts) come back after closing and renewing, but I think that has to do with force quiting.

worst version ever since i use this programme!!
the shutdown option is now confusing !!
and i dont have shitty codec pack im not a noob like you could think.
Personally, the version have only gotten better and better in the last 3+ years I've been using RipBot.

Why do you use the Shutdown option?

You don't need a codec pack, what are you referring to?

@Atak_Snajpera, one Question. Would it be a big thing that the User can specify a temporary Folder and not only a temporary Drive? For Example c:\MKVWork\Temp? Would save me a lot of Folder Switching if i want to check some Things manually before the encoding starts :-)

Thanks

I could be wrong, but you should be able to specify where ever you want it, already...

In "RipBot264.ini"

Try creating this folder location first, (c:\MKVWork) then change the .ini, to suit, and it hopefully will then create the temp folder.

Have you tried right clicking on the job and opening the Job Folder?
It is what I do to not navigate to the temp folder directly first.

For anyone having issues with video and audio syncing up after an encode and have tried things like changing the frame rate in MKV tools, you might try copying the timestamp file from source to your encoded file. This is especially helpful with variable frame rate files.

Extracting timecodes (windows batch file):
FOR %%A IN (*.mkv) DO "C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix\mkvextract.exe" timecodes_v2 "%%A" "0:%%A_timecodes.txt"
^^ The above is for running the batch file in the same folder as the video files that you want to extract the timestamp info from (source)

Batch importing with Encoded files in the same folder as the extracted timecodes .txt files(windows batch file)
FOR %%A IN (*.mkv) DO "C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix\mkvmerge.exe" -o "%%~A-fixed.mkv" --timecodes "0:%%A_timecodes.txt" "%%~A"

If you're working with something other than MKVs you'd want to change that in the scripts.

If you need something in py (Linux) let me know

I'm considering trying Ripbot but I see there are lots of tools in there. Are any of them going to be installed into my system or do they run from the "tools" directory? I'm especially wondering about avisynth+ being installed and deleting my current version?

Atak_Snajpera
25th August 2018, 10:13
RipBot264 installs AviSynth+ MT if
a) AviSynth+ MT is not installed
b) Installed AviSynth+ MT version is lower than in RipBot264 folder (in other words newer version installed in system won't be replaced by old in ripbot264 folder)

You can always disable this auto installation by renaming install.cmd in \Tools\AviSynth

v1.23.0 (FINAL)

Added: Better queue management
Added: support for commandline switches in EncodingServer.exe
(/minimize , /port , /node , /affinity , /priority , /x264-opencl-device and /knlmeanscl-opencl-device)
Example: EncodingServer.exe /minimize /port 2000 /node 2 /affinity AAAA /priority low /x264-opencl-device 0 /knlmeanscl-opencl-device 1
EncodingServer will start in tray and start listening using port 2000.
Encoding task will be assigned to NUMA node 2 with affinity mask for CPU1,CPU3,CPU5,CPU7,CPU9,CPU11,CPU13,CPU15 in low priority.
Futhermore x264 opencl will be set for first device and KNLMeansCL filter for second device.
Added: Support fot 3rd audio stream
Added: Preffered audio language option
Added: HDR to SDR conversion directly in script (no bottleneck if used with prefetch)
Added: Automatic pre-indexing of all audio streams after demuxing
Added: support for PRORES as input format.
Changed: WatchFolder Mode now adds first unlocked file to queue instead of waiting for first detected file in folder to be unlocked
Fixed: Crashing in EncodingServer when other instance was being closed. EncodigServer also starts much faster than before.
Fixed: Various bugs reported since last major version

With new version you can assign each encoding server to specific NUMA node for better performance.

Holy crap, you should have called this 1.24.0..

I downloaded the new full install, from Mediafire.

Certainly a lot of the "tool's" have been updated :)

This program is getting away from being simple... :(

You're going to have to post a user instruction guide..

OK, so that NUMA stuff means nothing to me, is it possible to use this with older CPU's ?? eg:- X series XEON's, or i7's.

Well done, can't wait to give it a whirl.

Yes but in weird way. Set /x264-opencl-device to some incorrect value (non existing device index).

So I discovered recently that if I encode my movies in [HIGH 5.2] UHD, Progressive my Plex server doesn't like it. Takes forever to load movies and in many cases won't play the picture. If I go down to [HIGH 4.0] FHD, Progressive everything works perfectly.

Are the asterisk's the core count ??

So I did a **-c ** command, and it stated "No NUMA nodes", which this laptop would not have.

I'm guessing I'll get more nodes on the "old xeon's", once I've enabled NUMA in the BIOS....correct ??

Yes. If you enable NUMA in bios you will get two graphs in task manager like I showed you before.
