It seems that RipBot's calculator chooses a too-high bitrate for x264 to use, if including a DTS@1510 audiotrack (COPY STREAM).
Once again I encoded Avatar but this time I used DTS-Core 1510kbps. Resulted size was 4479,5 MB.

I did but there are some hard coded x264 parameters that I have to change every time - like

"--keyint 240 --min-keyint 24"

whereas I prefer "--keyint 24 --min-keyint 2"

Once again I encoded Avatar but this time I used DTS-Core 1510kbps. Resulted size was 4479,5 MB.I have ended up with 2 oversized encodes (locked to DVD5). Both with COPY STREAM for audio and they were about 3-5mb too big.

I don't think it has to do with DTS-core or not because one of my two oversized encodes used AC3 640kbps.

Could it be the version of the x264 encoder? While this is sorted out I keep a margin or 10mb just to be safe. Thanks.

why don't you check logs if set bitrate is the same with encoder's bitrate.

I'm encoding at least 2 files / day , and regarding the audio files , when select a DTS file to be encoded , the result will be - each time - an AC3..
Only ONE time a DTS file encoded and resulted a DTS encoded files and I didn't understand WHY ???

Which is the trick or the..secret ???
It requires different setings ???
The original DTS files should have special caracteristics to be encoded and resulted as ...DTS too ???

If you do not want conversions, use the Eac3to and More GUI to extract the core tracks contained in the DTS HD MA and HI RES.

It's right under the audiotrack selection, as one of the options in the Profile drop-down. If you don't see such a thing then maybe your audio is corrupt or something.

Another thing to consider... I believe that you cannot "xx copy stream" if you're creating an MP4. I know that was true in older versions, but am not sure about the 1.6 releases.

X.x.copy stream doesnt always show up instantly, i usually have to check avchd before it becomes available as an option


you may be looking for it BEFORE you do this, and so missed it!!!

Extract the core using eac3to or will have to convert the DTS-HD MA/HI RES for AC-3!!!

if you are using bd-r media you want to use bluray structure not AVCHD structure (there are hardly any differences but the things that are different seem to be of significance). and I don't know about you but I like to keep the original HD audio on mine. currently you can't do that through ripbot. you can only copy the PCM/decoded track (which takes up more space than DTS or TrueHD). I don't know why your source is mkv though http://i45.tinypic.com/hwdcli.gif but at mkv you usually need to be around 19GB to fit a BD25 (I assume you mean 25 as there wouldn't be any guessing or question of fitting if it were a BD50)

I think it might extract the core if you demux the dts track or something. I remember it doing it under some circumstances. but the best solution is just to use something like tsmuxer and demux the core, then don't choose an audio track in the first stream selection screen. after it's setup the video part just browse for your demuxed DTS.

The option you want is NOT available for what ever reason. So you must adapt and use the tools suggested to get the result that you are looking for.

RipBot264 is only a GUI front end for a mass of tools that work just fine independently.
If the GUI doesn't support what you want. You can ask the author to support it as a feature.
If he says no. Then you can always use the tools independently to accomplish what you need.

A question was asked about multiple audio tracks a few versions ago. The author did not want it as a feature so it was never added.
As dismayed as it made the person(s) that wanted it as a feature; they respected that the author of the program did not want that as part of his program.

Now it may be that this will be supported in future versions, but the chances are slim. If you want more options there are only two ways you can you can go about getting them.

(1.) Use the tools independently to yield the result you want.
OR
(2.) Use a different GUI front end that will support what you need like MeGUI.

I have a lot of TV shows that already have the proper video encoding on them and just want to down mix the audio so I can stick it on my iPad. I have yet to find a program to do this simply and it would be awesome if ripbot could.

I think this was noted on the mkvtoonlix site that a change was made with subtitle handling in 4.0.

Thanks for the hint. mkvmerge does not write values into the mkv header that are default anyway. So, is it a sole problem with the various media players that rely on the old behavior and did not handle the default values although specified by mkv?

I Really dont know. I've give that information to atak and atak was testing to install in every order. But personally i was using an french windows 7 genuine. Before i was in 120 days trial of windows 7. It's make me that issue more than 1 year. could that order can be an issued about windows version language?

I could'nt told you why it's make this and how i think to try this, but it worked. I saved that file into my bluray program folder so if i have that issue again,...

How long should the "please wait.... initializing" take to end when you begin an encode on average? Its been sat there for around 30 mins now. Running Win 7 64bit, 2.66 Quad Core...

Not supposed to take that long. 2-3 minutes max depending on the computer speed, hard disk speed, etc.

Personnally i was having the issue that if i set 4480 for DTS audio tracks, all the time the output projects are too large to burn it on a 4,7GB. i was set an 4425 MB size to fit them on a dvd5 and 8125 for DVD9 size. I should try again if that issue is not corrected in newer version. Since 1.10.X i was having that issue with all DTS audio tracks. If i was using AC3, sizing to DVD5 and DVD9 is correct.

I use tsMuxeR_1.10.6 to demux video from BlueRay, but in many cases the out file is just vc1 file (instead of .264 file)

But I can't add this .VC1 file to RipBot (RipBot264v1.15.1) because it is not listed as the supported file...

What should I do?

Please advise me if You use the RipBot and You managed to pass this step with vc1 files

Yes, I have tried redoing the project, it's an issue I have for some months, when prior to the last windows XP reinstallation worked well. That's why I dont doubt it should work well and the problem is in some part of Ripbot external applications like ffdshow, avisynth... don't know.

Ts muxer reports error when open these kind of files, I guess it is because it is not an mkv or ts, instead it is an .avi

If I pick the same file compressed with autogk, which is xvid video and mp3 audio, ripbot works fine. It has to be something related to the monochannel PCM audio track. In previous posts I showed what mediainfo logs from the audio track:
