I searched around the forums for this setting but was unable to find it.

I am looking to do a test encode with ripbot246 but I can't find the setting. All of my encodes are not cropping out the black screens even when I set it for each encode.

Yes I've read the first post. All it says in the first post is the latest Haali will not work with VC1 .m2ts files. However the source file is already remuxed into MKV, and the video codec is AVC not VC1. So therefore I assumed this advice was not applicable here.

i had the same issue you're having. turns out, you have to downgrade to the haali that is posted on the first page of this thread (i know, go figure?).

I tried every haali I found. Don't think I need it anymore. I use MPC HC to play video, DGToolsNV to demux BD & DVD audio+video, eac3to to demux chapters and subs. What should I use Haali Splitter to?

Hi atak,

After changing one hard drive and put into my server computer, ripbot264 has freezing to "Gathering Informations". I make some look up in the C:\Temp\ to check what's wrong.

- .264 file is not in temp folder, all subtitles and audio tracks are in job1. only 2 avs file (job1.avs and getinfo.avs). If i cancell the gathering information, the C:\Temp has been deleted.

I went to Windows Vista SP2 to make some test, and samething.

Could you help me with this case?

It's start from when i takeout 1 hard discs and modify ripbot.ini to change drive letter and output drive.

in Ripbot264 folder, go in Ripbot264.ini with notpad.exe;
Temporary system and Output Path. The first one has for jobs working files, and the other for done project.

not sure what guides you saw with this, I've never seen the button (maybe it was there on early versions?). possibly you've see the bluray button on TSMuxer though. just reencode your files to MKV and then mux to bluray structure with TSMuxer. keep in mind the file will be larger after muxing. for example: I reencode files to 7620MB to fit as AVCHD on dvd9 (a dvd9 is about 8150MB).
alternately you could encode to avchd and then just remux the m2ts into bluray structure.....or maybe just even leave it, your player might play AVCHD on bd25 (mine won't play bluray on dvd9)

I've been unable to determine the significant difference between AVCHD and Bluray structure (a couple index files are different sizes)

What Hali version do you use?
Is the source a VC-1 encoded video? Then use the Hali Splitter version shown in the 1st post.

Two Questions... and sorry if they have ever been covered before, but we are on page 340 here :) About subtitles.

1. Does Ripbot264 OCR subtitles before you burn them in? Or do you build in the image of subtitles from the bluray?

2. Would SupTitle work better for subtitles http://www.zachsaw.co.cc/?pg=suptitle_pgs_avisynth_plugin? It looks like it uses the SUP file directly to burn in subtitles.

Thanks man for the info. I guess I must have been blind when I was looking at that site. Would you be interested in it if he changed the license, or if someone else wrote a similar plug in, or are you pretty much happy with VSfilter for subtitles?

Alright I looked into and I posted a question to the author in his forum. According to his response, he does not mind if you use his plugin. Also it does not use OCR but overlays the subtitles bitmap right over the video. I think this would produce very good looking subtitles.

i posted this a while back

its a bug with the arcsoft decoder and 6.1 dtshd. set eac3to to use the sonic decoder and it processed the stream correctly. sucks that arcsoft cant handle it right. oh well hopefully this helps others with the same problem.

i just started encoding Stargate and this movie has DTS-HD HI-RES 6.1, it's not a MA track but it does the same thing as the 6.1 DTS-HD MA from X-Men Last Stand. audio has slowed down and has static present. I just decoded the track using the Sonic Decoder and it works fine. My question is, would you be able to add a check box to use the sonic decoder for 6.1 DTS-HD streams. I just dont trust the arcsoft decoder for 6.1 anymore and it would be nice not to have to do a separate step and remux later.

its no big deal if i want DTS i just use eac3to and demux it and then load that into ribpot

i don't know why it won't give dts core anymore

Hmm, according to Stasi :thanks: the "xx.copy stream" is available, when selecting the FLAC checkbox during A/V selection. i'll give it a try, but if that's true, i don't understand why the checkbox is named "FLAC" instead of "demux only" or something like that :)
Will try it out and post if it worked for me.

EDIT: Ok, FLAC checkbox just decodes DTS to multichannel FLAC instead of just copying the audio stream out of the M2TS, so the checkbox is named correctly, however it does not solve my problem ;).
The intention behind my question is, that i'm playing the transcoded videos on my popcorn hour C200, which is connected to a 5.1 receiver. The receiver should get the DTS signal for decoding, since it cannot handle multichannel flac, AAC, OGG etc. (of course "downgrading" to AC3 works, but i'd like to keep the advantages of DTS sound).

Sorry if you have to discuss this again, i have to admit that i didn't read all the 342 pages of this threat before posting my question ;)

However, concerning the bitrate of both codecs you might be right that one cannot hear much difference, however afaik DTS uses 24bits per sample, whereas A52 only uses 16bps, which results in better dynamic sound for DTS. Not sure if this is correct, as i could't find much (professional) info on this.

True or not, i guess you might have the point that the "listening difference" is not worth the much higher DTS bitrate. Might be a better idea to use the audio bitrate difference to encode the video in better quality ;)

this guy did a bunch of tests on dts vs ac3. some of his thoughts:
DTS 5.1 1538Kbps is a good source for transcoding & I consider it always far superior to AC3 640Kbps ... there is no competition here.
For me, the claim that AC3 5.1 640Kbps is as transparent as DTS 5.1 1538Kbps is a commercial lie. NO doubt here.
For me AC3 640Kbps clearly doesn't compete with DTS 1536Kbps, the dolby competitor against DTS 1536Kbps must be E-AC3, which I didn't tested.

oh and:
People at doom9 just don't care as much for audio quality as we do here on HA. lol

Don't take this the wrong way pacaveli211, but I don't see how one persons opinions/test prove anything? Both DTS and Dolby tout being more transparent/better than the other. This proves nothing nothing. Perhaps under certain conditions, but there is never a true winner.

I just had to format my HDD. What versions of Haali, Avisynth, and FFDshow appear to not have issues. I heard one of the latest versions of Haali had lipsync issues.

I have already encoded a lot of my movies to 720p for my media device but now there are two movies with a DTS 6.1 track. The finished mkv always end in an unusable audio (checked on PC).
Is this something already known or can be fixed? I am using the latest Ripbot version. Maybe someone is able to help me. Thank you in advance.

I've been having an issue lately when trying to convert h.264 formatted files (in a demuxed .264 file) using RipBot. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and other than CoreAVC (which comes with Haali), it's a clean install.

The issue is that some files convert fine, while others tend to error out after the 1st pass. It's seemingly random because if I try enough times with the same job, it'll work.

Below is a log file from a failed attempt. Any help would be appreciated! :)
