My complaint is for Small size of font (light silver font with white background) .. I can see it .. but reading this font is hard .. if some how I can change its color LIGHT SILVER to BLACK or change the font size 7px to 10px .. it will easy to read on 1366 x 768 resolution ..

I loaded a movie - in an MKV, with DTS
output is set to MKV as well
I have the Aften AC3 options

is your DTS in the container? or a separate file?
is it DTS-HD MA/HR or just DTS 1536/768?

Can somebody please advise me on how to deal with forced subtitles? I have a Blu-ray at present (Green Zone) that is based in the Middle East so have foreign speaking in parts of the film and I need to know how to get the subtitles to display at these points.

is there any way to get a custom aac profile so i can select a higher bitrate? i know i can edit the job batch file but anytime i do that it doesn't encode the audio and it also means i need to recalculate the video birate since i am using target filesize it just be nice to be able to select 256kb aac as a option or make a custom one similar to x264 custom profile

umm....DTS is rated higher than everything, excluding the ANC_Original
the test is useless though. find something that compares ac3 640 and DTS 1536. because that's the real competition
DTS-HD MA vs TrueHD might be nice to see too
although - since they're lossless, there shouldn't be a difference

sorry wanna ask abt mediainfo. im using vista x64 and your mediainfo gui, and recently i want to copy the encoding section only and paste it to notepad just for collecting information purpose. but when i copy those section (ctrl+c) seems windows having problem bcz 90% my pc will BSOD. im not save as text, just drag and copy the "encoding settings" part inside media info.

anyone having same problem as me? or anyone knows what happen?

Are you using the 64-bit version of Mediainfo and did you click on View -> Text?

no, im using klite codec pack which includes atak's mediainfo simple gui, not from the original installer. i guess i figured that this is my problem, not mediainfo's, bcz even if i copy encoding settings text from notepad or browser, i still got bsod. but if i copy the normal texts thats fine..

for example if i copy texts like
cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:-1:-1 / analyse 0x3:0x33 / me=umh / subme=9 / psy=1 / etcetc...... that will cause BSOD (i was typing them all, im afraid my pc will bsod again)

but for normal texts like
ID : 1
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : Baseline@L2.1
Format settings, CABAC : No
Format settings, ReFrames : 3 frames
etc.... thats okay.. (i was copied them here without any crash)
i dunno whats happening, looks like my clipboard doesnt accept those kind of texts which cause bsod. any clue? my 32 bit xp doesnt have this problem..

you've not provided enough information for anyone to accurately answer that. it depends on how long the movie is, what the AR of the movie is, what CPU you have, and what settings you're using in ripbot. there are lots of other factors as well, but these are the main ones.

I can do an encode - sourced from bluray, to BD25 in about 6hrs. this is an average and I'm using an AMD 1090t. longer movies and/or lower AR movies have taken longer. for example The Island took over 7 hrs, because it's 2:16 long. Avatar would take even longer yet, because it's 1.78:1 and like 3 hrs long.

Yeah, I've done short (~1hr) animated movies in 2-3 hours, and some long, grainy movies have taken ~14hrs. This is on Windows 7 running in a VM in Parallels for Mac on a MacBook Pro Core i7.

that movie is like 2hrs 40mins long
if you encode to 720p (vs 1080p) it'll go a lot faster
encoding with CQ vs 2-pass will also be faster

make sure your laptop is keeping good and cool. they're not exactly designed to be doing such things

Check also if you power management is in "Performance" or "Balanced"; it can affect the time too.

Normally, all windows, even a desktop is set to "Balanced" and not "Performance". You need to modifiy manually. A setting that is set in defaut in windows. lol!!

Hi all

Have tried searching the thread to see if this has been reported elsewhere, but couldn't see any reference to it.

I have a number of .wtv files recorded off-air from Canal Digital in Sweden. They are a mix of MPEG2 SD and H264 HD (720p and 1080i I think). The MPEG2 .wtv files work fine with RipBot, but the H264 HD stuff seems to fall over during the remux process from .wtv to .ts and the .ts files aren't created.

Is this a known problem? Should I be upgrading other components?

Through reading this forum and random guides, i'm pretty good at converting my blu-rays to mkv now. However, I think I want to start converting my DVDs as well, make everything digital. Are there any guides for SD/DVD and ripbot, or is ripbot not the best tool for DVD? I'd rather use x264 than xvid, and i'm familiar with ripbot already so I hope it works well with SD/DVD to mkv.

Converting blu-rays and DVDs are almost exactly the same with Ripbot. It is really easy to use with for DVDs of movies. I've never figured out the best way to use it with DVDS of TV shows (multiple episodes), so I first use something like DVD Decrypter or VideoReDo to extract the episodes.

While ripping any BluRay movie RipBot is stopping at Muxing 100%. Even leaving it running overnight does not help. The only posts I have found related to this say to try uninstalling and reinstalling everything or to try an earlier version. I have tried both of these suggestions. Neither solved the problem. The computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. What is causing this hang?

I'm trying to convert 1080p mkv files to a 4gb MAX 720 file, to try to get as high of a bitrate as i can get, using Ripbot, but there's a problem.

When I convert the original 1080p MKV to a 1080p MP4, setting the file size to 4gb gets me a bitrate of about 3500kbps.

Now, when I convert the original 1080p MKV to a 720p MP4, setting the file size to 4gb, it gets me a bitrate of about 3501kpbs.

What's the deal? I would think that the bitrate would increase a lot?

why should it increase? The filesize (4GB) and the duration of your movie doesn't change while changing the resolution! So you have even 3500kbps for 720p AND 1080p!! To help understanding thatt "kbps" stands for Kilobyte Per Second so "Same duration and same filesize = same kbps".

Unless Atak mentions otherwise (I don't think he is using the 10bit depth version) just download the 32bit 8bit-depth and 64bit 8bit-depth versions from that site under encoder (x264.exe):

but on my RB/tools/264 are 2 ( two ) - x264_64.exe and x264_x86.exe
If I not put there similar applications it doesn't work !!!!
On all sites I found , there are just One version : x264.exe....
That's my problem....I need two of them to work well

When you download the x32 version simply rename it x264_x86.exe and copy over (same goes for the x64 version). That doesn't work?

@benjyv, I left that dll file alone and replaced the old x264*.exe with a newer version and it works for me. I have re-encoded about 10 jobs now.

FYI, I used the binaries from BD-RB since I figured that jdobbs has done a lot of testing. You just have to rename them to like RipBot's.

There are two methods (that I am familiar with) ...

You can build these forced subtitles into the picture, or just leave them as an optional selection.


Once you have loaded the movie into Ripbot264:

Go to "Properties" -> "Permanent Subtitles" -> "Build Into Picture" ... select the FORCED english subtitles. This should build the subs into the picture.

The other option is "Selectable Subtitles" -> "+" -> select the FORCED english subtitle.

This makes the subtitle selectable without building into the picture...meaning, you can either use it or not use it during the movie.

For me though, I go one step further and when the movie is finished encoding, I use MKVMerge and give the subtitle a "forced" flag. This way its not built into the picture, but is forced anyway. (maybe ripbot gives a "forced" flag? but im not sure, so I just use MKVMerge)

I use bdsup2sub to add forced flags to subs - this is when keeping it in .sup form (avchd / bd5 / bd9 / bd25)
this does the same thing (with players) as crackinhedz was describing. it forces the subtitles to show, but they're not part of the picture and can be shut off
