Hello,

I know others have had trouble with this issue. But I have not been able to understand how to resolve it.

I am getting the "avs3yuv.exe has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you is a solution is available." error when trying to convert on of my blu ray movies. I copied my blu ray movies to my hard drive using AnyHDDVD first. Most of my conversions have worked just fine, but there are just a couple of movies that have given me this error. I use the same settings every time.

Any help will be immensely appreciated.

Assuming you were talking to me... it seems to happen at different times. In this case, The Dark Knight, it happens during the second pass.

I use 2-pass and lock the size to 4000 so I can load the movie on my PS3 or FAT32 HDD.

I found this excellent guide (http://www.thehtpc.net/htpc-tips-and-tweaks/ripbot264-distributed-encoding/) tonight for setting up distributed encoding, might be worth adding a link to it in the first post and to the actual download, will help stop a lot of support questions I would think.

Tonight's the first time I've used the distributed encoding option, after pressing start it took half an hour to copy the files to the share. The film in question was a 28.8GB bluray.

What's exactly happening during copying the files, as I thought the files were already on the share, once added?

Once it finished copying it then started indexing, again painfully slowly, 15 minutes and we was at just 5%.

During the copying and the indexing I'm seeing very little CPU usage (0 - 5%) and no network usage. So I've no idea what's happening, and at this pace it would be quicker to just transcode without using the distributed encoding.


Would the fact that I was adding another job slow the process down?

Now I realise something must surely be wrong, but quite what I don't know.

By the way I'm running this on a Quad Core i5 750 running at 4Ghz, with loads of spare hard drive space and 8GB ram.

Edit: I've aborted the other job I was adding, and the indexing does seem to have speeded up considerably.

Edit 2: We have lift off, and both servers working but trying to add another job slowed things down again, so I think I need to add all jobs before starting.

Any idea why adding another job cause things to grind to a halt almost?

Just in case anyone is interested I'm using two systems, the host system is a quad Core i5 750 at 4Ghz, the other is a Core i3 3220S 1155 Ivy Bridge 3.3Ghz, the Ivy bridge CPU is achieving a frame rate of about 75% of the quad core, just goes to show how much better these new processors are.

Too many jobs in your HDD. Don't try to do all things together. If you want to add a new video, stop the encoding process first. Use the batch button to apply same settings

:thanks: Thanks for the replies, I do have a good SSD but I use a traditional hard drive for the video files, disk IO was one thing I didn't think to look at. edit: (one of the better things with W8 is that task manager actually shows disk IO)

Also would like to say I've just set it up on my W8 Pro laptop and it worked without a hitch. Might have to set it up on the other PC's as well, got a total of six in the house + the server.

Could I request a couple of features.

1. Option to request username/password when starting encoding server job rather than storing them in a plain text file.
2. Option to sleep when finished - I have to change windows power options to never sleep as it goes to sleep when encoding with all four cores at 100% :mad:

The encoding client window seems to suffer from a nervous twitch, seen it do it a few times now - see video (http://www.mediafire.com/?tw22qndm45o5m), not sure if it's just a quirk of W7 or not as it seems to move when W7 decides it's not responding.

Here is a sample from a HDTV source. If I encode it, it becomes 50FPS (and runing kind of 2x times faster) I selected 25 FPS from the script but still having problem with the FPS. I tested older versions and still the same.

What do you think? It's a common problem for me with ripbot for this type of videos.

Hi -

I ran the test of my CPU and RAM and it came back with no errors.

Can you explain more about the first suggestion about uninstalling codec packs, etc.? Are you suggesting to uninstall AviSynth, Haali Media Spliter, and ffdshow? Because RipBot won't run without those installed, so I'm confused about that one.

That makes no sense. Why would your system ever go to sleep with all 4 cores are at 100%? Something is wrong with your rig.
The only problem I've ever hard with sleep and encoding is on external HD's that go to sleep during encoding and ripbot gets upset when the drive isn't available for the next job. Normally ripbot just finishes and then 10 min later my system goes to sleep.
There is a program that is great at reseting power issued & settings. It's called MST, MCE Standby Tool. You can set devices that will or will not let the system sleep or wake.

I use RipBot264 constantly and am generally very pleased with the program. There are a few bugs that are big issues for me, at least in v1.17.3:

1. HD content in 4:3 aspect ratio cropped to 1440x1080 encodes as 16:9, even when the profile is set to --sar 1:1. This is a bit irritating so generally I just crop to 1444x1080 instead, but would be great to have this fixed.

2. Using distributed encoding, occasionally it seems some of the chunks are missing in the muxed file - this happens generally with really long movies like Seven Samurai. The resulting mkv is shorter than the original video file and out of sync later in the movie.

3. Occasionally with 1080i content when encoding, regardless of whether I deinterlace, the resulting mkv has a strobing effect - a second or two of video is played, the movie advances a few frames and repeats the most recent second or so of video, etc.

4. The program trims the file when either the audio is longer than the video or vice versa (I believe) - this sometimes results in needless cuts to the audio or video but there doesn't seem to be a way to change this setting universally.

5. Not really a bug, but a feature request - 24bit audio in RAW/PCM format is reencoded at 16bit when ripped to FLAC. Would love to be able to retain the full 24bit quality when encoding. I see that DTS-HD and TrueHD demuxing have been added to the most recent version, which is fantastic.

hey, i got a very big problem, if I render my videos in sony Vegas with the Batch render option, RipBot264 won't demux the Audio stream, it always says ----[NO AUDIO]----. I hope you can help me, yesterday, everything went normal, don't know what happened :(

In case if you meant rendering using Frameserver mode then you need to check this option

This error means that indexer (ffmsindex.exe) finished work without creating .ffindex file in /Jobx/ folder.

So there is something wrong with file or with indexer.
You can try to update whole ffms2 package in /Tools/Avisynth plugins/ffms

Any reason that deinterlacing is disabled for some files (the dropdown doesn't work)? Manually copy/pasting "LoadCplugin("Yadif.dll") // video=yadif(video,mode=0,order=1)" works just fine :-o

Deinterlacing is only available if source fps is 25 fps or 29.97 fps

sry, but i don't render my videos with the DeBug mode Frameserver, but RipBot264 only failes to demux the audio stream, if i render the video with the batch render script option, if I render the video with the option "render as" everything wents fine in RipBot264, i don't know if this is a RipBot264 problem or a Sony Vegas problem :S

mediainfo will tell you whether file has audio stream inside or not.

If I Want to drip a NTSC 29.3fps DVD to watch it on Ipad/PC, which profile should I choose?
Base 3.0 SD or main 3.1 HD? and video bitrate should be 1000-1500kbps ?

both profiles will work. instead of fixed bitrate use crf 20.

btw. you may need to activate inverse telecine in order to restore original film fps 23.976

Sorry, the orignial film fps is 29.97fps interlaced, 16:9 ratio. I only use BFF deinterlaced option, everything else at default settings. I've tried CQ crf 20 and copy stream audio (AC3 stereo 224kbps), quality is great but the file size is end up ~3GB 3000kbps. Not sure if I should increase crf

Higher CRF value = lower file size and quality
Lower CRF value = higher file size and quality

Gentle denoising will also help to reduce file size.

Sorry, the orignial film fps is 29.97fps interlaced, 16:9 ratio.
Almost all movies on NTSC DVD are 23.976 fps but telecined to 29.97 fps. Check if you see duplicated frames after plain deinterlacing in encoded movie to be sure.

Sounds like the file is not Blu-ray compliant. Have you looked at Blu-Ray_structure_info.txt to see if there are additional messages?
