IS there any way, or any plan to support in the future x264 farm, or whatever the program is called? Even to a small scale, it can take hours on a quad core to convert a HDDVD or Bluray, any extra distributed power may help lower that time, plus I have access to a few dual-quad core machines in my lab at work, so I'd be interested in seeing this functionality added later.
awesome program regardless however, keep up the great work.

I do believe that this is a GUI that controls x264 codec not the x264 codec it self. So you might want to talk with these guys (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=89979)...:)

the Level 4.0 HD, Bluray, Consoles option is in the profile section under video on the main screen. just drop down the arrow to see other options. after making a custom profile, it will show up under the Level 4.0 option and say "custom".
2-pass mode is under the FPS box. it usually says CQ but you drop down the arrow to choose "2-pass". after doing that, look at the lower left corner of the main screen to find the box to check that says "lock size". then choose 8150 for a 7.95gb result.
kenrippy, thank you very much and sorry for my noobness. I guess I was in a rush and somehow and didn't see where to choose "2-pass" but once you said it is where it says CQ by default i found it. changing it to to 2-pass then opens up the "lock size" box so thats why I didn't see that.
looks like I will have to try this a third time and for some reason it takes 6 hrs even though I have a quad core and i uncheck low priority which i'm assuming makes ripbot not take up some much memory and cpu resources so you can do other stuff but i unchecked that to give ripbot high priority hoping that would make it faster.
hopefully 3rd times a charm. my only other question was why you dont change the default r-frame to 4 which i think is the more ideal for 1080p stuff while 5 is too high and 3 possible too low? and then i would think youd want the bframe to be 4 also to match since they are both 3 by default and sounds like you leave them that way. since you said you use those settings I guess i will leave them at 3 also just to be sure it works but i'm thinking 4 would be fine and possibly more ideal.
other then possibly upping the r-frame (which i'm assuming is ref frame as i see in the bottom info) and the b-frame both from 3 to 4, i will keep these settings now for future mkv encode.
I usually dont need to do it though as like i said running through tsMuxeR makes most any mkv even 1080p with dts work flawless on the pch because it handles .ts more easily even intensive ones. but this may come in handy again.
usually i just get another release but in the case of Journey to the Center of the Earth, there is only one 1080p release in 3d so i guess my 3d glasses for the woman and i will have to wait cus i have to encode this one again for another 6 hours in ripbot but now that i have the settings right thanks to you it should be good after this.
thanks again.

Don't worry about removing the codec packs etc. unless necessary. They will usually be listed under add/remove programs.
I have a popcorn hour also, and I use this often. Here are my settings...
Profile: Level 4.0 HD, Bluray, Consoles (I made a custom profile @ Level 4.1, 40000 buffer, 40000 max bitrate and left all else the same - I use it on all my encodes)
Mode: 2 pass & in lower right corner check the box "lock size" and choose 8150. that will give you a 7.95gb file (same as your original)
Output: MKV that will set the audio portion for you.
subtitles are off by default. you can snoop around in the other options, but nothing else needs to be changed. choose your save as location and name and you're done.
click "done" then "start"
though as i said, i hopefully wont have to do this too often but just in case I was wondering one other thing cus i noticed you said that choosing 8150 "will give you a 7.95gb file (same as your original)" so I was just wondering how you determine what to pick there.
You dont always pick 8150? i guess it will depend on the size of your file what you pick there if you want to keep it as unchanged as possible and just need to reencode like in this case to fix something. how do you figure out what to pick there? is 8150 in mb or something so thats as close to my 7.95gb file?
also are you sure about leaving the rframe and bframe as the default 3? orig file is 5 which was the problem but i'm pretty sure that the rframe setting is ref frame and that 4 is ideal, and i guess youd want to match the bframe as 4 also though i'm not familiar with what that is.
again though you did say you use these settings on 1080p stuff so i guess ill leave it but i'm thinking since its only aC3 sound and not dts plus once i remux it to .ts, that ref frame 4 will not only work perfect but maybe be better quality?
edit: well last one i did, i changed the rframe and brame to 4 but hadn't changed the bitrate to 40,000 like you suggested or changed CQ to 2-pass so this time I'm doing your exact settings and the good news, it only sayd 2hrs now instead of 6!
edit2: i guess just the first part of the reencode was 2hrs. now during the 2 pass it says eta 6hrs again. I'm letting it go but if didn't already mention, i tired the original mkv on a whim figuring no way it will work since the .ts doesn't (as usually if the mkv doesn't the .ts will but if the .ts doesn't which is rare to never, then the mkv def wont). I mean it will probably be better off reencoded with the proper 4 ref frames but I think even just reencoding it to mkv still is one step further form the source so if the original mkv works i'm best off with that. I just hope that remuxing to .ts doesn't dip or degrade in quality at all cus thats what I usually do.
i'm thinking the reencode now with 3 (according to kenrippy's recommended settings) or 4 ref frames and the proper settings will not only make a working mkv but also a working .ts (unlike the original mkv with 5 ref frames) if I took this reencoded mkv and remuxed it to .ts again but that probably wont be neccesary.

Hi Atak_Snajpera
Excellent software, for me it is the best, I congratulate you.
:thanks:
A request, it would be good, more tracks of audio are able inclur and to be able to select color of subtitles for format bluray.

in temp folder you should have audio.1.pcm.flac file. Use DGsplit to create 50 MB sample
@wakebrder and @Discoboy
Are you using windows 64bit?
Atak,
Here's the 50MB .flac sample (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=1ea994ced90e51b46e7203eb87368129e04e75f6e8ebb871)It's the first however many minutes. It's apparently a funky three channel mix that, as I understand, a L/C/R mix with very little going on in the left and right channels, mostly center channel dialogue.
Let me know if you come up with any solutions, which I know you will, because you always do ;) Again, the problem is that WMP Classic brings up the error "ACM Wrapper::Output" when I try to preview the job, and so far I have been unable to convert the video with the audio that RipBot demuxs and converts to .flac OR the .wav audio that I have demuxed from the original PCM stream.
Thanks in advance!

Ripbot has worked fine for a handful of movies but now I am getting this error that pops up when I attempt to encode another one. Media Player Classic pops up playing getinfo.avs and says "DirectShowSource: couldn't open file C:\Temp\Ripbot264temp\job1\video.mkv: The system cannot find the file specified. (C:\Temp\RipBot264tem\job1\getinfo.avs, line 2)
Anyone know what could be causing this error?
Thanks!

What type of video file is it (i.e., is it MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VC-1)? And do you have ffdshow set up to decode that codec? I know that ffdshow comes with VC-1 disabled by default, and that might be the problem...if your movie is VC-1.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate the reply. I should have been more specific in my earlier post. I am encoding to .mkv and that is what the ones that worked are too as I do have ffdshow enabled to play them (and have watched the ones I have encoded). As far as I can tell, nothing changed between one working and the next not working.
Any other ideas?

You are talking about the encoding stage, not the playback stage though, correct? In other words, you have encoded (ripped) other files to .mkv, but now you are getting this error message?
What, specifically, are you trying to encode?

I use those numbers depending on the quality of the mkv. If it's a 720p re-encode, I will change it to 4480 mb size. It will give a 4.37gb result. You can type any size in the box if you want, it's up to you. I just prefer to keep my 1080p encodes at 7.95gb if possible. The quality and size is just right for me, the look as good as the original BD in my opinion.
also are you sure about leaving the rframe and bframe as the default 3? orig file is 5 which was the problem but i'm pretty sure that the rframe setting is ref frame and that 4 is ideal, and i guess youd want to match the bframe as 4 also though i'm not familiar with what that is.

I leave it at 3 reframes to be safe. see below:
profile L4.1
Max macroblocks per second = 245760
Max frame size (macroblocks) = 8192
Max ref.frames 1920x1080 = 4
Max ref.frames 1920x816 = 5
Max ref.frames 1280x720 = 9
Max ref.frames 1280x544 =10
I have a quad core @ 3.6ghz with 4gb of ram. They usually take a little over 4 hours to do a 1080p 2pass re-encode. I found that setting it to "low priority" makes little difference in the time it takes, so I leave it on low priority so I can use the computer for other things while encoding. All 4 cores still are just about maxxed out while encoding.
I have both the 3D and 2D 1080p versions of Journey to the Center of the Earth that you're speaking of. The exact same release group I'm sure (HD1080 & BDiSC). And, I also bought the correct glasses - they need to be a special color, not the usual 3d glasses. This movie is amazing in 3D. My kid won't keep her glasses on, so I often watch the 2D version with her.

Yes I have encoded other files to .mkv, but now the error message pops up a few seconds after ripbot starts "analyzing the streams" just prior to when it would start demuxing.
I am trying to encode .mts files that I have ripped from blu-ray discs to a HD .mkv.

First off, great piece of software! I really makes ripping Blu-ray movies easy. I have a couple feature requests that I think might help the software. Please let me know if any of these are out of the question.
Move video.264 within job folder and don't delete until job is deleted. (I've had errors with MKVMerge that resulted in the video of a movie ripped during a batch overwritten by the next movie in line, even though the video was fine. So I had to re-rip)
Current MKVMerge does not support over 100 chapters 2.4.2 does. (I've replcaed my executable and it seems to work fine)
How many scenarios is AutoCrop using?
Can ripbot extract multiple subtitle files at once?
Can we have ripbot downmux TruHD and DTS-HD audio to AC3. (I know TSMuxer can do it)
Put the total time in the title of the Job Name after it completes.
Thanks, and keep up the good work!

!
Ripbot is just a GUI for other programs. You can already downmix TrueHD or DTS-HD to AC3 as it uses eac3to to do it. Just select the audio in the select stream then select 640k AC3 encoding in the audio section.

is it possible to configure ripbot264 so, that it lets the video untouched and encodes only one mpg audio stream to AC3? Or is there a different way, to do that with a command line?

I used tsmuxer to demux the following VC1 source:
Decoding VC-1 stream (track 1): Profile: Advanced@3 Resolution: 1920:1080p Frame rate: 23.976
Decoding TRUE-HD stream (track 2): Bitrate: 640Kbps AC3 core + HD data. Sample Rate: 48KHz Channels: 6
Decoding PGS stream (track 3): Resolution: 1920:1080 Frame rate: 23.976
Processed 184574 video frames
Demux complete.
I get a .vc1 (video), .ac3 (audio) & .sup (subtitle) file. When I tried to add the .vc1 file, RipBot264 doesn't support this.
Is this normal or am I missing something?

urrent MKVMerge does not support over 100 chapters 2.4.2 does. (I've replcaed my executable and it seems to work fine)
I will update this tool as well.
How many scenarios is AutoCrop using?
I use default settings. see autocrop documentation.
Can ripbot extract multiple subtitle files at once?
in future I will add this option
Can we have ripbot downmux TruHD and DTS-HD audio to AC3. (I know TSMuxer can do it)
eac3to tool is set to always extract only ac3 part from TrueHD/AC3 audio. The same rule applies to DTS. You always get DTS-core (1.5Mbps)
Put the total time in the title of the Job Name after it completes.
I will see what I can do later.
Is this normal or am I missing something?
is there any reason why you used TSMuxer instead of eac3to?

Ok, so for the .m2ts that you are ripping, what type of video is it? AVC, MPEG-2, or VC-1? Or you could just tell me what movie you're ripping, and I'll look it up.

That is a good question, and I honestly don't know. I was trying to do Kingdom of Heaven. Oddly enough, I think I found what was causing the problem. The subtitles menu when it first analyzed the disc defaulted to just "SRT". When I left it at that is when I had the problem. When I actually selected the English subtitles from the dropdown it is currently analyzing normally and I'm thinking it will encode as well. Will report back if not but could this be a bug?

Strange issue...
just updated to 1.13.1 from 1.11.5 and FFDShow to 2633 and also the latest Haali's I could download (1/11/09??). Now I'm trying to demux Eastern Promises (I did this HD disc before but forgot about the subtitled scenes so I'm redoing it). The problem is that for some reason with 1.13.1 it is taking forever to demux. I'm letting it go right now to see how long exactly it will take... but from what I can tell it's taking 2-5 minutes per % point and I know that isn't right... either I'm missing something or something just isn't working correctly and I don't know enough about this to fix it.
Ripbot has worked pretty decently for me for 2 months now excluding the random freezes etc. I would encounter from time to time (endless encodes etc.)... but this problem is just very strange since the demux portion should be pretty straight forward. I don't think it's the disc because I've already ripped/encoded this once over with 1.11.5... something is different and obviously wrong.
Edit: Getting worse - started around 2am... I'm only at 18% and it's about to be 3am. I'm going to sleep now this is definitely strange...

Hi Atak
There seems something wrong with the Trim function. In the application I edit the avs script to Trim(121,0)
But when I open the actual avs script it says Trim(0,2359)
Result: the first 121 frames are there, but the last 121 are cut off.
Can you fix this please?
Edit the script I edited in RipBot264:

Hi Atak_Snajipera,
Is 1.13.2 now fully upped to mediafire as when I tried to down although the download links states file of 18.22MB only 527KB gets downed and so file is indicated as corrupt?
Many thanks

I've tried 4 times to download it and each time the resulting file is a different length, each one less than 18.22 MB, although one was close. Maybe MediaFire is having problems at the moment. I'll keep trying.
