you don't need 4.1 to burn anything to disk. I've burned 100's of discs with 4.0
you only need 4.1 if you need bitrates higher than 20000.
to get 4.1 or higher in ripbot you have to create a custom profile
TSMuxeR should be able to demux any bluray stuff, I've not tried it on 3d....but I don't see it having a problem with it

I am using RipBot264 to convert from M2TS file to MP4 to play on PS3. My PS3 is connected to TV using component
video, and a toslink optical cable for audio.

The MP4 file does not play any audio on PS3 if ripbot264 audio output is set to:
5.1 CT AAC-LC 256 kbps [abr]
5.1 CT AAC-LC 320 kbps [abr]

It does play if set below these two, for example, it works fine if using:
5.1 CT AAC-HE 192 kbps [abr]
no other changes except this...and audio works.

I was wondering why this is? Or perhaps I am doing something wrong. Thank you for your help.

I just started using this program and found it to be the best by far for ripping BR to MKV when said BR has TrueHD sound instead of the normal DTS.

One question I have to ask is will it ever support DTS?
As in at the moment if I rip a BR that has DTS sound it converts it to AC3.

But I want to be able to keep DTS within the MKV without having to use a different program to extract the DTS track from the blu-ray and then mux it after RipBot has finished.

Ripbot264 is set to always convert DTS-MA to uncompressed .w64 instead of DTS-CORE. AC3 640kbps = DTS CORE 1536kbps in terms of quality.
So it is better to convert .w64 to AC3 640kbps. No need to waste space for bigger DTS-core.

I need a help , yet....
As i told above , recently appeared on the marked new type of BDs - 3D format .iso.
Ripbot ,of course ,cannot encode them.
What soft/s are necessary to be able to see internal files (.m2ts) and what soft can split and extract them???
I have a XP SP3 , Daemon Tools Pro but these are not enough....those who have installed Win 7 can easy process these files...
any idea or help ???
Someone tell me I need AnyDVD for seeing those files as .m2ts....

yeah, my bad. 4.1 is for 25000 and higher not 20000. must've confused it with the other bitrate wiki lists for 4.0

Mutant - probably not going to happen, for a few reasons:
Atak is an AC3 supporter
DTS stuff doesn't seem to be as open / free as AC3. i.e. you have to purchase special software for encoding it an such

benjyv - I answered your question already. And with retail media you always need some type of decryption software (such as AnyDVD)

bigggt - I don't see how the video codec could relate to an audio issue as they're both separate tracks
what type of audio does the bluray usually have / which audio track are you choosing?
is your source actually bluray?

hmmm, well I'm really not sure. make sure the full audio track is being demuxed to your temp folder. (should be somewhere around 3-6GB depending on bitrate and movie length)
if you haven't done so make sure everything is up to date / recent (ripbot / FFDShow / Haali)
you probably know as a work around you can demux and keep the DTS core or use eac3to to transcode it
otherwise wait and see if anyone else here might know

something I just noticed is that the file is EXACTLY 5MB
that might be indicative of....something, or did you split/cut it just for upload sample?

Yes i split the file to make easier to upload

I just deleted all my temp files so i can't check the size but will next time

what it also does is when i play the converted file it makes the playtime over 10 hours or something like that

I don't know if it makes a difference but i take all my bluray's and use Another Eac3to gui and save them as mkv to store them on external hard drives(hooked up to Popcorn Hour A-200).

when i load the resulting mkv into ripbot i don't get demuxlog.txt

I know you suggest to do it right from the bluray but this is much easier for me

I wonder if anyone can help me solve this most persistent and irritating of problems. I've been using ripbot to transcode my BluRays to MKV for my NAS for about 6 months now. Originally I got an error with VC-1 files:

The system cannot find the file specified.
(F:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\getinfo.avs, line 2)

We're all familiar with it. I eventually solved it by installing avisynth, haali and ffdshow in that specific order as prescribed here by 8ternity (thanks , btw :-)). Transcoding to MKVs was a breeze and the program worked flawlessly for about 100 blurays. However, I recently reinstalled the OS (Win 7 professional x64 ) and now I can't get it to work on VC-1s again. Same error. I've trawled this forum but no solution seems to get rid of the error. I currently have Ajax's latest installer's versions installed but no joy. (avisynth 258, Haali splitter v1.9.42.1, ffdshow rev 3516 and ripbot v1.16.2). I uninstalled everything first, restarted and then reinstalled as frequently recommended - but no luck. VC-1 is set to wmv9 - still no luck. Am now tearing out hair and swearing at computer, but that doesn't seem to help either. Windows is fully up to date and DirectX is installed and up to date.

The problem is mega frustrating as I know it can do it, but somehow I can't make it work again. Using the files I used the first time and in the same order mysteriously doesn't work either. I can see loads of people have had this problem - pacaveli211, 8ternity etc. What am I doing wrong?

Atak - it would be very helpful if you could add links to the latest proven compatible support files to your signature. That way we'd mostly all be using the same versions and singing from the same hymn sheet, so to speak. They'd only need to be updated when you bring out a new version, and maybe not even then. I know there are links from within ripbot, but these don't point to the most recent [B]compatible versions specifically - just to the latest versions. What does everyone think?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

CT-AAC encoder sometimes encodes at lower bitrate than specified in command line. I had to increase bitrate in order to achive more accurate bitrate.

Thank you very much for suggestions. Unfortunately, changing VC-1 to libavcodec made no difference - same error. I think RipBot now changes it automatically to wmv9 on startup. As for manually demuxing and remuxing...

a) I don't know how to do that (yet)
b) This was working 3 weeks ago on exactly the same bluray so I would love to restore the original functionality if possible.

It may come to manual demuxing and remuxing - but am not ready to admit defeat yet.

I'm sure it's a simple problem, but I'm damned if I know the solution.

Are you sure that your movie has been correctly decrypted?

Try this:
1) make sure that you have latest AnyDVD-HD version running in background
2) select .m2ts directly from disc in ripbot

This was an excellent suggestion. As it turns out I did actually have the latest version of AnyDVD-HD installed (6683) - but the problem didn't exist before I updated it...

So I rolled it back to 6680 - same problem...

So I rolled it back to 6660 - PROBLEM SOLVED.

My copy of AnyDVD-HD is fully legit, by the way, so there really is a problem with the software screwing up the video as it decrypts the Blu Ray disc, which seems to have arisen in 6680 and not been fixed in 6683.

I can't tell you how many times I've installed and reinstalled everything over the past week, thinking it was the original problem I had had coming back. Anyway, thanks a million for Jedi computer skills, and for great program. You rock.

Oh, and thanks to Ajax for his installer - it really makes it a LOT easier installing compatible versions of the necessary files for Ripbot.

Once again thank you for this great software. I am having one problem and it only occurs when I attempt to use normalize function. I am attempting using normalize as I am playing back on a samsung galaxy 2 (Sprint Epic) and volumes have been low. So attempting normalize 200% I am getting what looks like a hang up on "initialing please wait'. I had had version 1.15, where this also hung, and recently updated to most current to see if that was the problem. it is still occurring. This is a dts track being converted down to 2.0 ct aac-lc at 128.

Is there a known common issue? something I should check that commonly causes this problem? I do not see a log file generated after abort.

Sometimes it takes more time. I can only advise to leave it for night. If after such long time you still see "initializing..." then we have a problem here.

I haven't searched the entire thread, but from what I have searched I haven't found an answer.

Is there a way to use the "xcopy stream" method when encoding a blu-ray/m2ts? When I encode a dvd/vob, I can simply selec the xcopy stream and get the original DTS/AC3 stream which the receiver can decode. When I chose to encode a blu-ray/m2ts I have the option to transcode the audio or convert to FLAC. Is there no way to simply copy the original DTSHD/TRUEHD stream into the mkv? -or am I missing/misinterpreting an option?

I just installed Windows 7 recently and ripbot is giving me problems. Same goes for my friends computer as well. first off, if I try to denoise a video, it says "LoadPlugin: unable to load "D:\Program Files\ripbot264\tools\avisynth plugins\fft3dgpu\fft3dgpu.dll" (S:\temp\ripbot264temp\job1\job1_preview.avs"

and if I just try to do a straight up 2 pass encode without any cropping or any other tweaks, it just stops at the end of the first pass.

Any solution?

I have Flight of th ePheonix Bluray that has a MPV (MPEGII - 1080 video) & DTS-MA for audio.

When I use Ripbot 1.16.2, I get an avisynth error unless I choose, no audio and no chapters. In the past if a Bluray had DTS-MA, I would only have OGG & AAC options, no AC3 options.

Lastly, a poster above mentioned Atak is a AC3 guy, however, I understand DTS encoding might take other SW, but TSMuxer will strip the MA from a DTS file and make it a plain DTS 5.1 file. Then Ripbot could have the "copy audio" option.

Currently, I have to take my DTS-MA Blurays and:

Use TSMuxer to demux the DTS-MA to DTS
Use Ripbot to select the m2ts stream without audio
Let Ripbot encode the Video only
Open MKVMerge and combine the video and dts stream

No. Maybe try reverting to an earlier version of mkvmerge before you started having problems. Also, are you sure the problems are not related to header compression?

download the older mkvtoolnix if the new one gives you issues....(or figure out why, it might be a simple setting)

All of a sudden i get hardsubbed video output from ripbot264 1.16.2.
After checking, sources were .mkv with one subtitle track flagged 'default: yes', sometimes also 'forced: yes'.
No subtitle things set in ripbot, only video and audio parameters.

The only thing i changed on my system (regarding video stuff)
was to update win7codecs, which did not include a dvobsub update.

I do not remember if the files i encoded prior to this hardsub-error-happening had no default setting.

My temporary solution is to:
1) remux the sourcefile to a video+audio only mkv, no subs, therefore no confusing flags or settings.
2) This 'no confusing stuff in it'-file gets encoded then.
3) The resultfile gets muxed with the source file, replacing the source's video + audio streams

i guess this happens due to the fact that ripbot makes use of the mkv via directshowsource in 'job1.avs',
instead of extracting the video stream to job1 directory. (however, i do not question this decision, it's ok)

Here are my questions:
- Has anyone else this problem?
- Does Ripbot tell haali or vobsub not to use subs while encoding? If so, why does vobsub ignore it, matter of settings?
Or is this behaviour intentional?
- Any other help or tips?
