when does this happen exactly? after 'combing chunks' stage or before? it would be very helpful if you could record a video using camstudio or fraps. upload video to www.mediafire.com
I happens before combing chunks, just after the 2 machines finish encoding.
I would send you a video cap, but I gave up & just encoded the remaining videos separately, then deleted the sources.
But I will video cap the next time it happens.

Ive seen this problem. The issue is the location of the Temp folder that you are sharing out. It has to be on the machine you are running Ripbot.exe from. After that check your share permissions.

Ok, got a little further. It now starts the encoding client and connects to both the localhost and a remote server I have set up. Unfortunately both of them flip back and forth between encoding and idle. The status flips back and forth between Starting... and Queue (about twice a second). If I open the server it flashes Encoding Terminated... over and over...

@Balthazar2k4:
You have to run EncodingServer on the other machines too!
Because I have RipBot264 installed on all machines I don't know if you need all codecs etc. too.
Ripbot is self contained and will copy over what it needs.

With the new version I keep receiving a 'floating point' error. I have tried to different sources but receive the same error both times. On WinXP SP3 32 bit.
http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af10/Sayth_Renshaw/ripboterror.png
I get this problem only with certain(random) files. It's rare, but I just ignore those and don't encode them. I've encoded about 800 files with the new version and got this error about 4 or 5 times. If you have this every time, there must be something on your machine that ripbot doesn't like. (Personally suspect some codec.) Sorry, I don't have any more useful info.

maybe it is a sign to forget about xp. it is 2012 and last sp was released almost 4 years ago. windows xp itself is 10 years old. i have no access to xp so i can not do anything with that.
The last SP might have been 4 years ago, but the last update was two days ago and Microsoft has agreed to fully support XP for two more years because of it popularity.
If you have a old XP install, there are likely to be more issues with everything than with a newer install of almost any OS.
Most people think their NEW computer or their NEW OS has solved their problem, but a lot of times it is just a fresh install has removed the crap that was slowing/crashing the PC.
***At the end of 2011, "OVER half of the PC's had Windows 7 or Vista." That means the rest have XP or such. (Minus Linux boxes.) ***

I wish it were that easy, but all other encodes so far have worked just fine. I'm going to try remuxing the DVD into a bluray container & see if that fixes it.

Trying to encode Kill Bill Vol1 from Bluray to mkv 2pass using distrubuted encoding. On the second pass on the last chunk it stops claiming that the second pass has more frames than the first pass 15288 vs 15287. I tried a cq20 encode and it ran perfectly. Any suggestions to solve this problem ?
Will try a single machine encode to see if that works.

Can you try again with Usex264x64=0
Re-create job after that change!
Trayman
4th January 2012, 13:35
Ok will try that and let you know how it goes.
It's on it's way now indexing...
First pass finished...
Second pass started ETA 57 minutes...
x264_X86 has crashed 2 times already once during the first pass and once during the second on the Vista machine.
Update on the problem.
Using x264x64=0 the problem still exists. I changed the setting on both machines.
The movie has 159288 frames and the last chunk ends on 159288 so one frame is left out in the avs chunk creation it seems.
As for the lost episode i'm trying now has 61968 frames and the last chunk ends at 61967.
So i believe it will generate the same error.
No it didn't. stupid me it counts from 0 and not 1... so the previuos thought is invalid.
Will try direct from the bluray instead of the files on harddrive.

Thanks Atak for new version. I was obsessed with CPU utilization :) and now is everything OK. CPU is on ~100 % and encoding speed increase for me to ~200 %, but i also tune my CPU/RAM from 3,0 GHz to final stable 3,3 GHz, from nominal 2,5. In fps from 3,xx to 6,yy fps with 1080p content.

When are you gonna implement something into Ripbot that takes modifies the Cinavia Protection and PS3 or $ony standalone Bluray players. I am using AnyDVDHD and it doesn't work in resolving the issue.

All references inside the CHUNKS folder (avs & cmd files) refer to \\TRIWEST and not the actual machine name. TRIWEST is the name of my domain. How do I go about getting this corrected to my computer name which happens to be IT21229.
Example from CombineAllChunks.cmd
copy /b "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\1.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\2.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\3.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\4.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\5.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\6.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\7.264" + "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\job1\Chunks\8.264" "\\TRIWEST\Ripbot264temp\video.264"

Seriously. I went through the same thing with Atak. The instructions didn't make it clear to me where everything was supposed to be and what was supposed to be run where.
When I changed the location of the temp/ripbot temp folder it started to to work. The problem was the way ripbot wants to use the share. ie. If you make temp folder and share it out, you might be looking at temp/temp/ripbot temp, but you put something slightly diff in the .ini file. Once I got the shares lined up, poof, it was off.
I had a video that I sent Atak of the problem, but my sent files folder is empty her at Doom9.

Sure. NP. But like I said it's rare. It usually happens when I'm encoding some trash old file that's been cut/reEcoded/resized/etc.
It's never happened on a new properly encoded file and I'm over 1000 files encoded so far.:D

I don't know if it's a bug or it's supposed to work this way. The Keep Jobs In Queue feature; It's all or nothing. That is to say, if you clear the check box, ALL jobs disappear including UNprocessed jobs. (When you close/reopen) I expected that if the box was cleared, that jobs would disappear as they were processed, that way you could see only jobs to be processed, or at least when you close/reopen ripbot, only to be processed jobs would remain.

I assume you are talking about the AVCHD option.
Do you really have that many files you want to convert to AVCHD that you need that as an option?
Regardless, if you hit the edit button on any job, you can easily select AVCHD.

Managed to run 3 clients with Win7 64bit and distributed encoding.
When adding a Win2008R2 Server as 4th client, i get this "idle repeat" problem.
I Win2008R2 clients window it says, it can't load avisynth gpu plugin.
Win2008R2 Server has newest drivers (Radeon 6450) and newest DirectX installed, so it should work.
Maybe a security issue with Win2008R2, not able to run dlls from shares?!

I assume you are talking about the AVCHD option.
Do you really have that many files you want to convert to AVCHD that you need that as an option?
Regardless, if you hit the edit button on any job, you can easily select AVCHD.
The *.MTS files are coming from my video camera so yes, there can be quite a few at a time. I simply changed the extension to *.TS and I was then able to add them all at once as a batch.
@Atak_Snajpera: Could you add the *.MTS format to the batch please?
Thank you!

Some suggestions that at least I would like implemented.
1. Encoding settings/profiles. Lets say i want my movie dvds to be encoded to mkv with the CQ20 settings but my Tv-series dvds to be encoded to mkv with the 2pass settings and an output size 700Mb. Same goes with Bluray movies i want mkv 2pass with the output size of 4480Mb and 720p but my bluray tv episodes i want mkv 2pass with the output size of 1024Mb 720p. So the ability to create these "settings" in an ini like file would be awesome.
2. Subtitle support on dvds just like on blurays.
3. Default subtitle language to be used if available and if they should be forced or selectable.
4. Que managment in the Distributed Encoding Client for debugging purposes. If you have a problem with a certain chunk you don't want to wait several hours to see if the problem is solved. If it's the last part it takes a while to get there.
5. Support for the swedish letters едц in the output file. Maybe there is a workaround to this that i haven't found without editing the command files.
6. Support for more than one audio track.
Please at least consider some of these suggestions that i think would improve this already awesome app :)

Atak_Snajpera Ripbot 1.17.0 does not delete the temp folder when i press remove anymore. 1.16.5 did that with no problems. Also 1.17.0 will not shutdown the pc when i put a check mark in the shutdown when finished anymore and 1.17.0 also locks up when i encode a 24 minute anime using 10 bit x264

The problem with Kill Bill Vol1 on 2pass distributed encoding still there there eventhough i demuxed the movie directly from the bluray instead of copying the entire disc to my harddrive.
This is what the encoding server reports

Here the temporary folders are usually deleted and shutdown has already been resolved in the latest beta version.

Ok i managed to get Distributed Encoding sort of working to the point, where it tries to connect to my other computer in the homegroup, that's as far as i get. The Encoding Client will connect to localhost but wont connect to my server. Any ideas anyone?
Here is a video capture of the problem http://www.mediafire.com/?yvtnq3bq26q6e7o

It deletes them when you close/reopen ripbot. Is that what's not working for you?

Does anyone know of a switch or hack that can increase the volume during encoding? I see the normalize at 200%, but if I'm not mistaken that makes louds, less loud and the quiets, not so quiet and that's not what I need. I just need it louder. Please no need for jokes about playing with the volume output or turning up the speakers. :P

Either try the new client or read the solution a few posts back. It has to do with the share path with the new client attempts to resolve.
As for your avisynth plug in, You are using win2008. I assuming you are using it because it's different, so maybe there is your problem. Different means you get the headache. Good luck. Sorry for no useful advice on that.

When i press remove with the 1.17.0 beta it deletes everything but the jobs.list inside the temp folder and when i close ripbot the temp folder and jobs.list is still there and i have to manually delete the temp folder. 1.16.5 removed everything including the temp folder

That's not a very useful comment. If you want some help, there are several people who will try to help you out, but write a real question.
My question is:
Why in the 1.17.0 version I get Demuxing Error in the old 1.16.5 version Demuxing works fine.

@Atak The Kill Bill Vol 1 issue I've been having. I think i found what the problem is. The last frame is empty and i found this in the log
error: FFVideoSource: Insanity detected: decoder returned an empty frame occurred while reading frame 15287
Since I done this encode in "local mode" with the previous release of ripbot264 without a glitch. It ought to be something with the creation of the .avs and .cmd files for second pass. They don't catch the error and remove the last frame.
This is the last entry in the 11.stats file
in:15286 out:15286 type:P dur:2 cpbdur:2 q:16.57 tex:0 mv:0 misc:384 imb:0 pmb:0 smb:3600 d:- ref:0 ;
Since it should go from 144000 to 159287 which makes 15288 frames it only goes from 144000 to 159286 which makes 15287 frames.
I changed the 11.avs file and the 11.cmd files to one less frame and it seems to be running fine.
Will update you on the issue tomorrow when the encode is finished.
*Update* It ran perfectly after changing the number of frames in 11.avs and in 11.cmd. *Update*
