Thanks for the nice app! However, here I have some questions and problems:
1. If I replace the original x624 binary with daily builds from x264.nl, RipBot264 just won't work. So is it possible to manually update the x264 binary?
2. When a file is loaded, the audio sample rate is grayed out and cannot be changed. Is it possible to down sample 48kbps to 44.1kbps?
3. RipBot264 seems not to work with .vob file. When I load a .vob file it just sticks indefinitely showing "Please wait... Gathering information...". Is this a bug or RipBot264 simply does not support .vob file as source?

I just converted two DVDs to AVCHD. There were no problems with VOBs.
Maybe you have some misconfigured filters, some Codecpacks or something else...

Hi,

first of all: thank you ATAK for this massive peace of software. I use it for nearly 1 1/2 year. But I miss something. I try to explain:
I'm from germany and the BDs in german language have that feature that parts in the movie are translated using only parts of the german subtitle (pieces of labels, newspaper headlines or something different the movie itself contains). Do you know what I mean? So it must be defined in one of the files the BD contains that only some subtitles of the hole _german.sup-file will be used.
So i only want to know if there's any way to include this function in RipBot264. So that i don't have to clean the .sup-file containing only the translations. That would be great. If you don't know what I mean I could try to explain it in an other way!

The other question: is it possible to use RipBot264 in a complete x64-framework. I mean RipBot264 with ffdshow x64. I hope that the hole progress runs much faster with x64.

I'm sorry for my bad english but i hope anyone can help.

it would be possible but also very painful. You would need everything recompiled for 64 bits. Avisynth 64bit , Haali Media Splitter 64 bit , FFDshow 64 bit and AviSynth plugins (Yadif , audio plugins and so on ... and so on...)

Hi Atak,

I've retry conversion with the newest x264 files followed in previous post and that problem is the 3rd time i've seen this trouble.

After project done, the project are not writed on the disc:
Ex: E:\MOVIE FOLDER.AVCHD

I've manually try "job1_MuxFiles.cmd" and it's okay, BUT...

IF i have more than 2 jobs, the job1 is dead, not possibility to remux (due to .264 converted file in the Temp dir. *if my knowledge is good).

I've seen that trouble 2-3 times previously from the 1.14.5 version, and 1.14.6 just make that trouble right now.

P.S. the x264_64.exe new version is correct. It correct the trouble, but i've only convert 1 movie right now.

@8ternity I know when I tried the included 64bit version of x264 I was getting a ton of VBV Underflow errors in the log files and when time came to mux, frame numbers between the two passes didnt match so there was no file output. Not sure if your problem is the same but check your logs directory. For me I just reverted back to 32bit version since it has been very stable for me.

I currently have a problem when inputing any video file (be it avi, mkv or anything) in RipBot.

While it should be demuxing the audio in a temp directory and show the track in the audio part of the soft, it doesn't do it.

It keeps showing [NO AUDIO] in the Audio drop-down.

Any input on this?

Q: What does 4.1 profile do over 4.0 and would 4.1 be better for working with HD DVD/Blu Ray discs?
A: According to wiki maximum bitrate in 4.0 high profile is limited to 25Mbps. 4.1 is limited to 62.5Mbps. That's all!

As I said I am new to all this and cannot understand anything regarding terms used in ur tool ... I just want the converted video to be @ 35+mbps ... coz I recently downloaded a TS file that is amazing quality and uses HIGH@L5.1 Profile ... I don't trust my judgment on creating my own profile I want the Pros to do it coz am afraid to mess stuff up ...

All I need are 2 professionally configured profiles HIGH@L4.1 & HIGH@L5.1 .. That's all, for a conversion closest to original ;)

P.S : Didn't you like the installer I made ? You made one already ?

my problem with ChapterXtractor was fixed restoring my old system and now using ripbot264 v1.14.6.

But one problem unfortunately stays:

I ripped a HD-DVD with the Fox-Tool ;-). Now I selected the feature-film EVO-file and ripbot264 demuxed audio and video so far so good.

But the preview shows a green bar all over the encoded film on the bottom.

What can I do ?

But if someone tries to convert a 90 minutes HD film (from a BD50) to a BD-R25 and wants to archive full capacity of BD = 23500(?!) MB,
he will get a nice undersize with level 4.0!

Maxrate of 25Mbps for video would lead to 3.125 MBps and 640 kbps for audio to 80KBps = around 3.2 - 3.3 MBps
Would lead on a BD-R25 (23500 MB) to 7120 secs (around 2 hours)

A 90 minutes film would only take 17.4 GB at max bitrate of level 4.0
Thats why I changed my selfmade profiles back to level 4.1 and higher vbv rates:

Example:
--level 4.1 --preset veryslow --tune film --min-keyint 2 --keyint 24 --slices 4 --aq-mode 2 --aud --nal-hrd --vbv-maxrate 62500 --vbv-bufsize 32768
--profile high is default

Do you mean a new MP is not only necessary for viewing the encoding without green bar but for correct encoding?

I encoded in the past and the resulting mkv had a green bar too when played with my HTPC and a PopcornHour.

I think this is the most obvious thread in which to ask this particular question.Its an odd one,but there we go.

I want to change ordinary standard 2.35 Aspect Ratio to 2.45 in Ripbot264.
I can correct overscan on my LCD by using the AddBorders,however using this Avisynth command does not alter AR.

I have tried BilinearResize using various (WWW,HHH) but the preview script,although showing the AddBorders change,does'nt seem to alter the height,thereby changing the Aspect Ratio.

I know its an odd request,but its a personal thing,which I won't bore anyone with.Just my fascination about AR's fom my CRT days,when you could mess about with them using the service menu.

Just to be sure.I don't want to crop.I want to maintan the whole image,simply with the AR changed. I would add that this involves both SD and HD sources.

Can anyone suggest something I can pursue.

Why don't you use uncompressed audio if your target is BD-25???

Did you check if you can disable OVERscan in tv? Majority of todays tvs allows to not use stupid overscan .

Feature Request:
Option (say via RipBot264.ini) to not apply the Sharpen(0.2) to the resize in the job.avs file.
Whilst I respect and appreciate it is the developers preference, it isn't for all of us. Whilst it can manually be removed from the file before encoding, if can be annoying if you forget !

ps. Thanks for the ability in 1.14.6 to increment/decrement in values of 2 in the dialog boxes for crop/resize. Very much appreciated.

Man I have been trying to tell you I have no clue what I am doing, I am no video expert, plus visually I saw the MAJOR difference between Original and encoded ... Plus FYI Baraka is visually sensitive coz it has been filmed in 8K format which is huge, then downscaled to 2K and 1080p ... So you can imagine the quality ...

So please enlighten me as to what to do, in Media info on one of the files I recently downloaded says HIGH@L 5.1 in profile so it's possible to achieve that range of quality ... I am what you here consider a MEGA n00b ... And please stop telling me how HIGH@L 4.0 profile is enough coz I have proof that I cannot upload due to my upload limitations ...

If you accept to help a brother out, be precise and explain every step ... Explaining how to achieve better quality BluRay Rips, what options to enable/disable/change, and if higher bitrate means higher quality .. No good guide anywhere that's why am asking ...

Else just create the 2 Profiles I requested and you won't hear from me again ;)

I'm trying to rip blu-rays down to a size that I can live with. I've found that is in the 8-12 gb range per file. So far both 2 pass with 8 gb limit and CQ 20 usually meets that for me.

Can someone explain the main differences is between these two other than a hard limit with the 2pass?

I noticed that I was able to convert my X-men 3 Blu-ray and select 5.1 AC3 when using the new version of RipBot. Just finished converting the movie and the sound has come out all tinny. Picture is perfect but something happened with the conversion to 5.1 channel 640kbps AC3.

Question for the Gurus: I've been encoding a lot of movies recently using Constant Quality (CQ). Why are the output results always so different for similar length movies. I've noticed that some movies create a 5gb 720p file on CQ 15 while others create a 9gb file on CQ 18?

It's like some movies just compress MUCH better than others? Is there anything I can check beforehand to detect which ones will need a lower or higher CQ because I find myself re-encoding the same movie a lot using this option. I'm aiming for a 6GB 720 file.

It's like some movies just compress MUCH better than others. Is there anything I can check beforehand to detect which ones will need a lower or higher CQ because I find myself re-encoding the same movie a lot using this option. I'm aiming for a 6GB 720 file.

Typical reasons for the difference in compressibility among movies would include:

1. The presence of many high-motion scenes, indicating an action film, versus other film genres. Think "The Matrix" versus your run-of-the-mill chick flick :D
2. Tricky source material, e.g. noisy/grainy picture. Think Darren Aronofsky's "Pi"!
3. Not exactly having to do with compressibility per se, but definitely affecting the file size you are targeting: Different video duration. You wouldn't expect encoding the extended cut of, say "The Return Of The King" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167260/) to result in the same filesize with the normal cut, when using the same CQ value. There's a 50min difference

Hi

When I try to create a mkv file from a .264 file and one ac3 file using ripbot 1.14.5, I get a "All jobs finished" message imidiatly, but no file is produced. Why is that, and how do I fix it? I have also tried the latest version 1.14.6, but i get the same error.

Why do care so much about size?????????? Constant Quality is more imortant than stupid size! 2-pass use ONLY if you want to put your movies on DVD!!!

I use PS3 Media Server for streaming MKVs to my PS3. Unfortuntely, PS3 Media Server does not handle 7.1 correctly and mixes the channels up on playback. Is there a way to convert 7.1 to 5.1 FLAC?
