I dont know i just like the AVCHD format, also this makes dts playback working or multiple audio tracks.
@lance79
hello lance79. Why are you muxing in blu-ray profile after that ? You could just play the movie in the XMB. I thought AVCHD was used for the subtitle, + menus + chapters ...

find a bug not related to ripbot but to tsmuxer (unless the m2ts doesn't support ac3 256 kbs)
I convert the mp3 to ac3 to be in a m2ts container.
I try to mux .264 + ac3.. but it doesn't reconize the audio track. (this one in particuliar) with the version 1.2.8 I have a popup, but in 1.3.1.. it try to mux.. but never start.. stall at 0%
here the description

First pass uses less options therefore you don't have cpu usage at 100%. Friend of mine has Quad core @ 4.2 GHz and first pass uses about 2.4 core in first pass. Btw resizing and croping even on one core is extremely fast.
Resizing is very fast, but cropping is definately slow.
Not on low resolution sources, but I've been encoding my HD DVD backups (wmv VC1 format) that have a resolution of 1280x720 and 1920x800 and that is super slow
For example, if cropping is used on a source such as the above it will cut encoding speed almost in half
Go from 80fps to around 40fps with cropping enabled on a high resolution wmv-hd file...
If I check task manager its using a low less if the 4 cores than it would without the cropping, I'm just thinking if you could do 2 of these types of encodes at the same time, the cpu utilisation would much higher :)

install AviSynth MT and add SetMTmode(2,0) at the very beginning
Ripbot264 only uses one core on my Intel Core(TM) 2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00Ghz on both passes.
Got something to do with hrd patched x264?
Cos megui let me encode with both cores, and output when used ps3 profile with tsmuxer works like a sharm on my ps3(muxed to blu-ray profile) with tsremux.
I have always 100% in both passes on Core2Duo@3Ghz.

is it a 2 CPU or 1 dual core ?
I have a dual core, and it takes 100% CPU when I encode

@ajak. How can I encode a mkv that have softsub to m2ts with hard subs ?
I have a anime .mkv when I play it with ZoomPlayer I see subtitle, but I don't see them with automkv. I try to reencode the mkv -> m2ts.. but still no subtitle.
I extract the .mkv and I only have .h264, ac3, chapters.txt
where are the subtitles ?
the video : ([SS]_Mai-Otome_Zwei_-_04_(h264_AAC)_[44371F87].mkv) can get it from here : (http://www.staticsubs.org/releases/torrent.php?id=559)
look like it's soft subs. but I didn't be able to extract the subs from the mkv.. if someone can help ?

Your mkv doesn't have softsub!!! English subtitles has been build in! (hardsub)

but ya it's soft subs because hard soft are in the vidoe stream, you can remove them, so they all always shown. my problem is that they are shown only with filters. I'm in contact with SS. THey will give me a way to extract them from the mkv and add them back in the avs script.
Will keep your inform, if you want to know how.

@Atak_Snajpera
2 questions
#1 - do you plan to add : --me-prepass in your command line ?
#2 - I have a mkv, that contain a 2ch AC3 448kbit. When I import it in ripbot and I choose m2ts, I only have to option : copy stream and AC3 192->256 ? not 448 ?
want to point that out. I dont' want to choose copy stream, because I want to normalize it first.
# suggestion : in the properties beside the bitrate : you should add 1/4, 2/4.. and remove the first back <- and the latest -> :)

256 kbps for stereo is even more than enough.

Hi,
I love RipBot264. I have been using it for almost all my h264 encodings. It's a great program.
I am trying to make a small video that runs smoothly on my little Nokia N810. I am trying to use the baseline profile 2-pass and have tried both level 1.2 and 1.3. But on both levels, the max video bit rates are still way too high for my little N810, so then the scene gets busy, the video becomes choppy. It looks like the level parameter has no effect on the h264 encoder.
Ideally I would like to specify a max video bit rate of around 400-500Kbps. I thought I could achieve that by using the lower level 1.2 profile (as wikipedia says the max bit rate for L1.2 baseline profile is 384 kbit/s). But with RipBot, the max bit rates I get on both level 1.2 and 1.3 are way above 600-700 Kbps (my specified average video bit rate is 160Kbps). Do you think the the reason is that the max number of macro-blocks has not reached yet, so the max video bit rate setting does not kick in?
How do i constraint the max bit rate generated by the 2-pass h264 encoder?
Thanks alot!

don't be fool by there name :) They exist before .mkv. Before that time, you had the choice of creating a .avi with hardsubs or .avi + .str but few groups stole the .str of others and that's why the all started to use hardsubs.
here for fun.. a screenshot of MPC (no subs) and ZoomPlayer with subs. I have to take a picture because Zoomplayer use OSD and not MPC (with the config that I have)

I have a rather simple question. I use the program "mediainfo" on a vob file and it says it is a Interlaced NTSC file at 29.98 fps.
If I want to get to 23.976 fps should I set both DeInterlace and Decimate or just Decimate?

Deinterlace top field first, and TDecimate.
(if the source is coming up as interlaced that is)
You can preview how the output will look anyway, so you might want to try the preview button without deinterlacing applied, then during a part of the clip that has fast motion, pause it and look for ghosting etc, then try with deinterlacing and see if you can tell a difference.

the audio filename came from the movie .avi
something like this

I tried a recode of a broadcast hdtv stream to m2ts-PS3:
Audio is AC3, but wasn't recognized correctly by RipBot (didn't offer stream copy)
After I upgraded MediaInfo Lib to 0.7.5.9, RipBot recognizes AC3 and offers stream copy.

I've got the latest FFD (I think), and Ripbot264 is displaying the error " is not a valid floating point value. It seems to happen only to mkvs though. I've only tried avi and mkv files and that's the case. If relevant, all mkvs have subtitles, and the error happens after ripbot's demuxed the audio and is gathering additional information. Any help appreciated.

Example:
Old Version You can select Multiple VOB's:

New version you can only select One VOB

I've got CCCP installed, so it'll be a bit of a hassle later on if I go and update the components separately. Should FFD r1739 work with the current ripbot? I also get the error saying bepipe.exe failed to initialize properly, when I try to encode the avi.

I believe version 02-06-2008 r1846 is the one this version of ripbot264 was built off of you will need at leased this version to have it work with no prob...
My installer holds the latest Version 02-26-2008 r1873 which also will work...
PS. I would not install any codec packs because they are usually built a month behind the updated codec's...
If I were to use a codec pack I would go with K-lite Mega pack though its always recommended to install the latest codec for the video project that you will be undertaking...
If you wish not to Reinstall ripbot264 with the installer you can get the download from this link (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-tryout/ffdshow_rev1873_20080226_clsid.exe?modtime=1204043394&big_mirror=0)

I'll say like Atak_Snajpera. If you really need to change it, run ripbot and cancel the encoding process and edit the command line manually and launch them in the command line. I always do that the add "--me-prepass" in the command line.

ATAK any thoughts on using copy stream option for the m2ts output? I would like to keep DTS instead of converting it to
ac3 before running the m2ts with tsremux to create a BD structure. Can i set this with a new profile?
also add borders would be nice to add to resize options so i can get BD compliant video for cropped mkv sources or allow importing of avisynth scripts.
