Update, I ripped the DTS-HD file with tsMuxer and it seems to be real poppy and scratchy, is there something I can do to the DTS file to make it just DTS or downsample it?

Once again thank you for your help. I dragged over my movie folder "The Soloist" and chose the correct selection from BDinfo and get the following:

I want to use the number 3 track but do not have a system that will do TrueHD at the moment. What would be the next best option for me to convert this to and how would I go about doing that with the options provided in eac3?

Got one more quick question for you if you can help and are still around. In the cropping section of ripbot264, if I am going from a 1080p source to a 720p downconvert should I even worry about cropping? I see that if I do select autocrop on 1080p it does remove the black bars but on the 720p it just adds them back when I select that resolution.

Also if I did keep it at the 1080p and cropped out the bars, would it look wierd on my tv since cropping the bars changes the resolution of the video, ie 1920x1036.

what is your end goal clownzer? if you're going to be playing it on a bluray player you need to keep full 1280x720 or 1920x1080

you want to crop so x264 uses all bitrate for the movie and not waste them on the black areas you dint remove by not cropping
but as far as resizing goes i dont know much about how RipBot264 handles that department but many factors come into play in this area but i use StaxRip for my encodes and there are many settings to help in this department RipBot264 users have to chime in here sorry i cant help :(

I noticed that if I did crop the borders the resolution does drop, then if I use the resize settings the borders are readded, is this by design?

Hmm... on my first attempt with 1.15.0, I noticed a much different result than 1.14.6:

1. I use eac3to to demux BD video and audio into .mkv and .dts.
2. If the video is AVC, I use mkvtoolnix to merge them into an mkv.
3. If the video is VC-1, I use RipBot264 to re-encode the video to AVC with a COPY STREAM of the audio, muxed into an mkv.

Normally RipBot264 with a CQ=18 will produce a near 1:1 size/bitrate and quality copy of the video. With 1.15, however, it decreased the bitrate from 21.2Mbps to 4.2Mbps. Same 4.0 profile, same CQ=18, same stream copy for audio. What's changed?

yes, the resize auto adds the borders to preserve the AR (you wouldn't want to stretch a 2.35 to 1.78). if you want to crop and resize you may want to see if you can use the custom resize. I'm re-encoding right now so I can't check any of those options to see if it might work =\. Keep in mind if you do crop the letterbox bars off that it won't be compliant with bluray players and will have to be readded if you want to burn it as a bluray / avchd. if it doesn't seem to properly allow you to do the custom resize with the crop you may have to run it through twice to achieve the desired results

The Popcorn Hour C-200 can player 24bit FLAC, at the moment I'm using eac3to on the audio to get a 24bit FLAC audio track and then muxing the video output of Ripbot264.

I know I asked before but this was before the Popcorn Hour C-200 was upgraded with FLAC audio support, it's becoming quite popular standalone player so would make sense imo.

This is probably due to the update in the X264 executable. X264 had some internal changes that affected the way CRF values are applied. All you have to do is lower your CRF value until you reach a form of quality that is comparable to your older encodes.

I posted with the same issue earlier. Originally I used CRF=18 to get close to a 1:1 bitrate from VC-1 to AVC, but until someone hashes out the change to x264, I'm going to use 2-pass settings with the desired bitrate set to the original bitrate.

Hi I'm having a problem with mkv's and ac3 audio. I'm converting some tru-blood eps to mp4 to play on my ipod and everything goes great with no errors. The problem is that i have no sound after the first 50 secs or so. After its shows what happened on the previous episode I get no sound. I don't know what the problem is but the original works find in mpc.

In the ripbot temp folder it has the audio.acc file which is the same way. There is a 2_audio_Undeterminded.ac3 file in the job1 folder. I'm assuming thats the ac3 file that was demuxed from the original mkv. I'm using the latest ripbot. I've tried several eps and have the same problem with all of them. Can someone anyone help? I've search for answers but not having any luck. I've been trying to figure this out for days now. I'm not sure what I need to post so that you can understand whats going on but here are a couple of files.

Typically I rip with eac3to and then I take all the english subs I ripped and open them in bdsup2sub. It tells you if there are any forced. If there are then you export just the forced and import the idx file into mkvmerge(or build them in the image with ripbot). Then you get just the forced and none of the other subs you don't need.

FYI I've been using Ripbot264 for years now and this is the first time I've had a problem. Well its not that big of a deal since everything else works just fine. Its just really weird to me because all the eps of TruBlood that shows you what happen 'previously' exhibit the same problem and stop playing audio right afterwards. The first two eps in the first season encode to mp4 perfectly with audio. Wish I could figure it out. Maybe someone is kind enough to seen a PM with suggestions.

This happens if stream has mix of 2.0 and 5.1 channel audio. Commercials are encoded in stereo but main show is in 5.1. Decoder will add silence if number of channels is changed. Blame that guy who encoded that file.

Granted 24 bits represents a noise floor well below the hearing range. 16 bits has a noise floor down at the bottom of the range of human hearing as well.

Yes, I know that movies MAY have fake 24bit audio. But not all do.
With harry potter and the half blood prince when ripping the truehd to flac with eac3to it recognized that it was 16bit + 8 empty bits and removed those 8 bits and ripped as 16bit. Which is fine. Obviously nothing lost there.

But i'd rather ripbot didn't take a real 24bit recording and downmix it.
It's nice to have choice instead of it being decided for you.
Though with the positive review for clarkdale and the upcoming ATI 5670 and lower end cards I may just go back to bitstreaming.

Is there anyway to tell Ripbot to process a series of files. I've got about 30 files I've moved from my Tivo (and converted to MPGs) to my PC that I'd like to turn into MP4s. Each show is between 8 and 16GB, and adding them individually to the job queue makes you wait while it indexes each file. I'm wondering if Ripbot allows one to do something like prepare an input file with a list of files that it could read and process.

Atak cannot change how EAC3TO functions it can only imput a different command line parameters. Remember, Ripbot264 is simply a GUI that controls many different programs.

I just converted BR disc Santa buddies that my kids got for christmas. eac3to automatically reduced depth from 24 to 16 without errors and no empty bits text was shown, it's something that just automatically happens with eac3to with everything I've ever converted.

Yes. I use fft3dgpu. Make sure that you have latest DirectX9.0c installed!

Thakns again for the software! So far I have been able to test a few things out without any errors. I do have a question for you about how this should work or if there is a work around for the issue.

When doing a 1080P encode I have no issues cutting out the black bars, but when I do a 720P encode with Auto crop on and chose the HD for 720P setting, I get the blackbars readded.

Is there a workaround for this?

Question for those who convert SD material. After producing an mkv it looks like the video is interlaced but not sure why. I tried to redo the file with interlacing options but nothing worked. This only happens with SD material (aka DVD rips). If I convert with Handbrake it does not happen. What setting do I need to adjust to get it to work on Ripbot? Thanks.

I uninstalled divx but now I get this error "Directshowsource: Graph refused to run: cannot allocate memory beacuse no size has been set, getinfo.avs line 2".
Any idea of why this happens?

I think I figured it out, I just used the custom resolution option keep the ratio the same, 720P with no bars came out to: (1280x534). If this is not how you would suggest doing it your input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Does that mean you don't intend to add support for 24bit FLAC?

Personally I think it's mad to not do it (forget my own bias, it's not like I can't do it by just doing the audio manually). My point is that FLAC is a lossless codec, why even bother having a lossless encoding option at all if its going to be fettered by downmixing it to 16bit for no reason.

I don't have the highest end equipment in the world but I can generally tell the difference between a 16bit FLAC file and a 24bit version that hasn't been downmixed.
