Thanks for the help Discoboy. I still have the demuxed video.264 and job1---.dts files made by Ripbot . If i can make a .ac3 from the .dts I can probably figure out how to remux them together. I've looked into the the dos help file of eac3to which doesn't give any examples on how to convert a HD .dts to .ac3. If possible please could you give me the commandline to do this ? Thx again.

there is a way to detect it in ripbot ?

It seems that NicAudio plugin does not like when audio contains two different streams (2.0 + 5.1). How to avoid that in future? Simply check if you have sound in preview.

Jamd1 if you send me DTS-HD samples I will try implement automatic DTS-core extraction in RipBot264.

This will help you to cut small samples. (20 MB for example)

OK here is HD dts sample from opening of fantastic 4 - 20mb - sorry so small but at my speed this took over an hour to upload. http://rapidshare.com/files/112619293/F4.dts - Hope this is enough to work with. Tested and plays ok in Windows Media player -( the only one that will play these files on my pc)

Hi Atak,
New version out, great am off to try it out now.

Did you have anytime to add the chapter function of tsMuxer this time round to the Ripbot GUI so as to save having to remux again after Ripbot completion so as to add some 5min chapters to my AVCHD projects?

:thanks:

PS. Anyway of making a donation:)

Nice update - checked the core dts extraction - works well - also it converts HD dts to ac3 and keeps it in sync ;-)

I see you are using the CQ default - Is there any way to run CQ pass and also fix the file size ( dvd5 or dvd9)?

thanks for the new release.

Can ew expect in 1.9.4 multiple audio track ?

I'll check your screenshoot.

did you try FFT3GPU . It work well too, but like most of the time.. I don't know which filter to use. I had a combinaison for anime, but now most of the time, the release came from HDT or bluray and the screen are really good.

Thanks - I always use the 2 pass Bitrate method - I just wondered if there was any way to force a file size on a CQ encode.

Adub
7th May 2008, 05:24
There isn't. In order to keep with the "Constant Quality", every frame is the same general quality, but not the same quantizer. Thus if the quant varies from frame to frame, they have different sizes, resulting in a unpredictable file size. The only way to predict is to encode it atleast one or two times, and check the file size. Then adjust the crf value up or down, resulting in less or greater file size.

Sorry if that was a little fuzzy. Essentially you can't predict file size with CQ, only with n-th pass encodes.

Sharc
7th May 2008, 06:53
Size / crf predictions could possibly be made by producing sample clips using every 10th frame (or similar) of the movie only. This would shorten the time needed to estimate the final crf value.
Same method is used for mpeg2 1-pass encodes to find the appropriate Q value btw.

This is what I get for a getinfo.avs script upon adding a simple vob.

ugin("C:\Program Files\RipBot264\Tools\dgindex\DGDecode.dll")
video=MPEG2Source("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\job1.d2v")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","Framecount")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","Framerate")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","AudioRate")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","AudioChannels")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","AudioLength")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","Width")
WriteFile("C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\info.txt","Height ")

I have a problem with v.1.9.3, when I select any of my divx tv episodes to convert them into mp4 (iphone ipod profile) the audio string is void and the audio profile string says: "0.0 NO AUDIO". I tried to convert a file anyway and as I suspected there was no audio.
Reverted back to 1.9.2 and everything is fine. I just noticed the same thing happens with ripbot 1.9.3 to all my divx files (movies and tv episodes), while it happens on 1.9.2 only with Divx with Ac3 audio.
Is this a pc related problem or ripbot problem?

hi,
i just tested your app for the first time, 1.9.3 simple extract from 7z file

i'm a Megui user but i'm looking for a good powerful Gui but simple enough so i can recommand it to other people.

ripbot looks great.
i just opened one of my hdv clips, applied deinterlace, film denoise and encoded (2 pass).
the preview looked great but the encode failed during the 2nd pass (but doesn't report the error)

i looked at the log, it says this :
x264 [error]: failed to rename "C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\job1.stats.temp" to "C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\job1.stats"

Could it be because my default temp folder is located on an other drive ?

Later i installed the 1.9.2 version from installer and it worked (without the denoiser, obviously)

i also didn't find the way to tell ripbot that i wanted my output to be anamorphic (hdv is 1440x1080i anamorphic 16:9, i'd like to keep the ratio without resizing)

i hope the feedback helps making your little software better

Most likely it is problem with the latest x264 encoder

arrarro try new version

I gave it a try and I did different tests. there is still something not working properly, I think.
Now the audio section of most of my divx movies and tv episodes is correctly processed but it takes a loooooot of time (well at least compared to previous ripbot versions!). After adding a divx file ripbot says: PLEASE WAIT DEMUXING AUDIO STREAMS... This takes about 30 seconds to complete sometimes and in some cases it does not complete at all and after a long wait a warning window tells me:

FILE COULD NOT BE OPENED! (C:\Temp\Ripbot264temp\job1\getinfo.avs, line 4).

The same divx file opened with ripbot 264 v1.9.2 works like a charm and audio is processed very quickly.

hope this helps and thank you for your efforts and patience

In previous version only AC3 audio was demuxed from avi. I had few avis with mp3 where audio duration was not reported correctly so therefore I decided to always demux audio.
h264tsto didn't work well , mp4box didn't work either. Let's try with ffmpeg :)

ok i tested again with 1.9.4 (from installer, overwritten in the same folder) i used the same source (hdv file).

It seems like the denoise filter doesn't work well during the encoding process :

with filters : deinterlace and old film denoise
result : only 1 image was encoded (the 1st one) and copied over all images. The video is just a single picture with a sound track.

tried again with only deinterlace (denoise off)
the video is correctly encoded.

I've been having problems with MeGUI & AVCHD. So i'm moving onto RipBot264.

But i'm running into some problems!

I get this error as soon as i run RipBot264

http://i26.tinypic.com/2e5mf0j.png

I tried feeding RipBot264 the .m2ts file, but it just crashes for me.

Then i tried feeding it this .avs script:

DirectShowSource("F:\BluRay\BDMV\STREAM\00000.m2ts",fps=23.9760431376968,audio=false)
trim(69847,70447)
crop( 2, 132, -2, -134)
Lanczos4Resize(1280,544)

And i get this message:

http://i25.tinypic.com/2090oxh.png

I even tried feeding a mpeg-2 vob file, and it still gave me the "floating error"

i feel none of this denoise stuff shudv been added to this wonderfully simple prog.
most noobs ain't got a clue and most advanced users can edit the .avs file by hand.

Denoiser should be only used with old noisy source. (see screenshots) It helps alot to lower bitrate in CQ mode. Anime clip without denoising had almost two times higher bitrate @ CRF22 and looked worse.

i am also getting errors with certain input files using v1.9.4.
cant extract audio (ac3@384), and same m2ts (mpeg2) error as above.

Atak,

version 1.9.2 could accept .sup subtitle files. These are the source / raw subtitle files on HD-DVDs. The newest version 1.9.4 only accepts .srt files. Can you bring back the .sup feature?

Also, New Features I would like to see in 1.9.5:
Custo
Custom/ import Chapter List - like the .txt file created by eac3to.exe
Allow custom matrix - esp. prestige for very grainy/old sources where keeping grain is desired
Include FGO - The newest modified x264 builds seem to be including a Film Grain Optimization feature. Increases compression, while preventing banding.
m/

The Prestige and FGO are suggestions based on this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=137117
I normally like to clean up grain, especially since the smoother the image, the better the compression will be, allowing more detail for the same file size. However, on the 5th page, there is an example of a 17Mbps source (300) with a 13Mbps copy, and a 9Mbps copy. The 9Mbps copy used Prestige and FGO, and resulted in a copy that fit on a DVD9 and still maintained the origional look of the film.

Honestly, the biggest request I have is for the chapter import, using the chapter list created by eac3to.exe.
Please! :thanks: Please!!!!!

This happens for alot of files not just a perticular one. Is there a known problem when encoding to 1080p. Alot of the times i am down sampling the audio from DTS to AC3.
Any help would be really appritiated.
Many thanks again for such a great program.

Ok... I am using MKV files that are 1080p. I am encoding to BluRay. I have to add borders using the option in the software and then i set ripbot to encode. Now when complete the file is usually around the 7.6gb mark and ends up with part audio missing. If i try to run it through tsmuxergui to add chapters it comes back as buffer overflow. Possible container streams are not syncronized.
Also some times when re encoding to bluray i get a windows error box pop up saying x264 has encountered an error.
Does this make sense ??? :)

Having a problem with audio from a camera-based MJPEG (avi) with PCM audio.

Programs says it's demuxing, says it's converting LPCM to FLAC and then when it gets to it, says NO Audio. I have also tried converting audio to a number of different formats with avidemux but RipBot still says No Audio.

I did, in desperation, try SUPER which worked flawlessly but have since uninstalled which may be causing some issues. I have reinstalled the latest 1.9.4 installer and avisynth 2.5.7 since then.

Anything I can do to fix the problem?

Also, I am trying to convert a 1080p vc1 source to a 1080p h.264 source (using RipBot). Everything seems to work fine. But, after a large number of hours (8+), the x264.exe process drops to 0% cpu utilization, while using over 1GB of system ram. The processor is in Idle and has been for over an hour. It looks like the program has stalled out. Any idea what to check to see if it stalled out or is just working VERY slow?

Show me log.

Make sure that you use wmv9 decoder instead of libavcodec

Ok, thanks. It's not me then.

Happened to try Staxrip in the meantime, the encoded file came out with slowed down audio (something else to sort out )but it left the .wav file handy so I'm now trying RipBot with it. Encoding atm.

I assume new version will be when it's done?

Edit2: Cutting the track out with avidemux (as I use it as my initial clip editor) works a treat it seems. Besides the little audio problem, everything looks sweet. Nowhere to donate?
