You don't hane to manually close any application. Just have RipBot264 running on all PCs and add their IPs in the DE window that appears. And it works

invy
21st February 2013, 10:09
I will try that (about having RipBot open on client as well as server, but I have currently have one other concern. Is:

StoreTempFilesin=C:\Temp\Ripbot264temp\

that a proper value? Or does it have to be like either:

StoreTempFilesin=C

or

StoreTempFilesin=TEMP

And obviously I will have to share that directory. But that is my concern.

v1.17.4
Added: EncodingClient will now automatically share Ripbot264temp folder

The video was the very first thing I followed to try and set this thing up. I've seen it over 50 times and i'm no longer getting any more useful help from it.

That's why I am at the point of desperation, that I'm asking questions that may seem silly/stupid because nothing else is working.

invy
21st February 2013, 11:08
You pointed out that it automatically shares the Ripbot264temp folder, but that doesn't appear to be true for me. It created the Temp Folder in C:\, as well as the RipBot264temp inside the Temp folder, but I don't see it shared it at all.

Also, would having installed the AVISynth MT version have anything to do with my problem? I had installed it for MeGUI recently but I installed back the normal version of AviSynth 2.5 on both PCs. I just feel like there might be some files lingering around in my System32 folder that might be messing things up.

Yeah... well did I do everything right as far as you can tell?

One thing not seen in the video that I remembered is that both PCs are in the same workgroup "HOME", and also, I can access shared folders from each computer just fine.

1) first thing! Where do you see .mpg as supported input format in DE mode

// Supported input formats AVI / FLV / MP4 / MKV / DVD / HD-DVD / Blu-ray
UseDistributedEncoding=1

2) second why do you manually execute EncodingClient.exe? Where do you see on my tutorial that you have do that??? Did you really watch that video 50 times?

1. Well I was under the assumption that HD DVD was the same thing as DVD, which is essentially MPEG II, just in a different container. Well then... excuse me for my lack of knowledge here.

So this is the reason why it doesn't work, for sure?

2. Like I said earlier - it was desperation to try anything. But, does it really matter, since it wasn't going to work, regardless? No need to sound upset. Geez...

I guess it's back to MeGUI and MT'ing for me since MPEG is all I ever encode.

Hi invy, it IS a shame that DE doesn't support .mpg....I use to do everything in .mpg, but once I got the hang of using DE, I changed everything I encoded to .mkv, so I could use DE.

Quality isn't really affected, and generally the file size is a lot smaller.

It's worth it, in the long run.

I'm trying to prevent demuxing of DTS-MA and TrueHD streams in 1.17.4. Is there an INI file option for that? I'm using an MKV container and never have used a previous version of RipBot264. When I open a file with a TrueHD stream it's always converting it to FLAC, which is worthless for me because my receiver can't decode 5.1 channel FLAC. I'd just assume stick with the original.

Thanks much!

Edit: DTS-MA seemed to be fine, it was TrueHD that got converted to FLAC.

I posted a while ago, because RipBot264 won't open AVI files, i have the same problem for now.
(Direct show source: the filter graph won't talk to me etc.)
Do you have any advice? please, my Let's play videos have got a, well, bad quality (the quality changes from good to bad very often).
Want to render them in AVI and then encode them to MP4 with RipBot so the Video does not loose the quality.

not sure if I understood... you're saying you encode everything twice?

not sure if I understood... you're saying you encode everything twice?

You could say that I do it 3 time's.

My process:- run files (whatever type they are) thru Ripbot for resizing, denoising, etc, etc.

Then edit in TMPENC Mastering Works for color & volume, etc adjustments (this is what I use to do in mpeg), and the created mkv is still quite large....(using high bitrate's create's large file's)

So generally a final run thru Ripbot, to mkv (again).

Done !!!!!!

Is it possible to bind RipBot264 to an interface? When I start a VPN connection, either using PPTP or Fortinet's SSL VPN, RipBot then seems to try and send the information down this new Interface when trying to connect to agents for the DE. The default route never changes as I'm only doing split-tunneling and routing the appropriate traffic down the VPN tunnel.

This only happens on initial launch of the Encoding Client on the host machine. If I start a VPN after the Encloding Client is already running it works fine. But as soon as it finishes a job and starts a new one, it only find the host machine and not the DE clients.

Any suggestions?

I'm having a problem with up scaling. Whenever I upscale with any settings it knocks the audio out of sync when the encode is done. But before the encode when I preview it within ripbot264 everything is fine.

Not sure what's wrong or how to fix it.

Thanks

adjust audio delay in ripbot. Check synchronization using Preview Script.
Execute jobx_EncodeAudio.cmd from C:\temp\RipBot264temp\jobx

I'm thrown by this part right here..lol. And it seems the delay is 23 seconds. And I couldn't put in 23 seconds in the audio delay portion of ripbot...10 was as high as it went.

Was doing Schindler's List Blu-Ray (long movie).

There are 195 chunks in D:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job12\Chunks for this movie, and due to the full path being in each chunk, the job was too long for the command line CombineAllChunks.cmd.

I was able to work around it by removing the path information and running the batch file that way, which worked. I'm not sure how to get it to not split up into so many pieces though.

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been covered but 612 pages is a lot of thread to sort through. Can I use Ripbot to make an mp4 of one of the extras on a blu-ray? In this case, I want to make a file just for the Paperman short that comes on the Wreck-It Ralph blu-ray. Whenever I load any video file of the ripped bluray in Ripbot, even those of Paperman, it analyses and then pops out playlists for the whole Ralph movie and two or three of the longer extra features. But no Paperman! I need help.

My guess is that since Paperman is short RB decided not to include it as part of the pertinent playlist.

Find the correct playlist with BDInfo. Then use tsMuxeR to output a new Blu-ray folder for Paperman, and then you should be able to use RB.

I'm trying to encode my TNG Blu-Ray episodes which are 1.33 Aspect Ratio.

Auto crop takes down the left and right by 240 each side making it 1440x1080. When I do a preview script, everything looks fine.

However, the resulting .264 video ends up still having a 16/9 Aspect Ratio, and then stretches it to fill the window. I've even tried Custom Sizes, to no avail.

I can't even Merge them manually with mkvtoolnix by forcing 1440x1080 or 4/3 aspect ratio - it's still stretched. I can override it with MPC-HC but I'd just assume not do that -

Any ideas?

Yes! I was about to say, through continued experimentation, simply removing --sar 4:3 worked.

Normal 16:9 material (e.g. Game of Thrones) already had --sar 1:1 in there.

Should I simply edit jobXX_EncodingClient.meta directly while it's in queue or is there some other place it should go?
