Question: I run RipBot264 after installing prerequisite programs and it keeps telling me FFDSHOW is not installed. I installed FFDSHOW-TRYOUTS (the latest December build), rebooted computer, etc. still a no-go. When I play back an XVID or x264 file in windows media player, FFDSHOW video and audio tray icons are there, and I'm able to tweak settings and everything so ffdshow is clearly installed and working.
Any idea why RipBot264 continues to detect it as "not installed"? Pretty much all defaults were chosen during ffdshow setup wizard, and its installed to C:\Program Files\ffdshow
thanks

I think RipBot wants a pretty new version of ffdshow. The december build is definitely too old.

Hey Atak,
I just tried to use your program to compress a mtst file that had 7.1 dts, when it was done demuxing I wanted it to goto blu-ray. It only allowed me to choose 2.0 ac3 audio. is there a problem or will the software not do 7.1? Also I thought of a suggestion, how about a lock in size for 25gb.
Thanks

I saw some references to using mkv2vob to get PS3 compliant files from Ripbot-encoded mkvs. Has anyone gotten mkv profile 4.1 encodes through ripbot264 to work with mkv2vob without requiring a transcode in mkv2vob? Is there something in the 4.1 profile configuration that needs to be checked or unchecked?

Ive been enjoying the program, it makes the whole process alot easier for batch jobs, but Im having a little issue.
I wanted to post about a question I had regarding the way ripbot handles subtitles.
The subtitles that Im working with are in the .ass format. Now when I open an mkv file and then add the subtitles (the saved .srt file that ripbot created during its demuxing process), the resulting file plays fine and the subtitles are displayed, but the font settings were not transfered to the srt file, specifically thier size. The subs are far too small to be read easily, so Im wondering if there is any option within ripbot to adjust this prior to encoding, or if its just a limitation of taking a .ass sub and converting to .srt
Edit: I didnt realize the subs werent being hardcoded into the video, so I know I could adjust them from vobsub, but Im wantign to have the subs hardcoded to video, is there a specific option I need to use to achieve this? thanks

pointless. I see no reason to compress 12 GB movie to 25GB! Wouldn't be easier to just copy everything to new disc?!?!

Srt format it self does not support custom fonts. However if you want manually change font or size you can just edit Default.style.

I can't send a sample the file is too large.
I have run into 2 of the movies I have that have been bigger then 25GB (Pirates of the caribbean 3 & 3:10 to Yuma) after I took out the extra sound and other junk. That's why I had interest of a 25gb lock in.

I got myself an iPod Touch a few days ago and wanted to check out its movie playback capabilities.
I used RipBot264 and chose the iPod/iPhone profile, then resized to PSP resolution, then remuxed as MP4.
I can drag and drop into iTunes, and I can also sync it to the iPod Touch. On the Touch itseld I can see the thumbnail in the movies section. However when I play it back, the picture is garbled and after a few seconds it stops playing.
Currenlty, I am trying the "Convert to iPod" in iTunes and it's taking a while. It's running as I write this post.
Is this step neccessary to get RibBot264 created MP4 movies on the iPod Touch?
Thanks!!!

OK, I will try that.
FYI, the convert feature in iTunes did do something because now I can play it back on my Touch. However the quality seems to suffer because of this extra conversion.
So I shall see with 1-ref frame, what kind of results I get.
I think the iPod Touch specs state that it can do 3 right?

I am using an appletv as a video player on my tv and I convert HD mkv to a format that this device is able to support using ripbot. In the process, unfortunately I loose the AC3 tracks most of the mkv do have :helpful: I know that the mp4 container does not officialy support AC3 audio stream but Apple was inventive enough to allow it some time ago on their devices. My request is : could you please add an option to do AAC+AC3 (two streams) as an audio output when reencoding to the mp4 container. Thanks !!!

Make sure that .evos are in untouched HD-DVD structure.
When I originally tried this it only recognised one of the evos so I combined them with tsmuxer into one m2ts file. It was then that the audio wasn't recognised even though I demuxed it separately afterwards.
I have just tried again. It is the first evo that isn't recognised (although that may have been because I selected feature 2 on this occasion) but the audio looks OK. I have put a screen grab of the disc structure here:

The first time I tried I definitely selected Feature 1.

Hi Atak, first of all great app!! Thanks for making it!
I use your app mainly for transcoding non-compliant MKVs to BluRay discs that I play in my standalone. I have a question about the audio processing. When I select the option "AudioProfile=x.x C O P Y S T R E A M" I thought that the original audio was muxed in later without any processing. However, in the avs-script there are in fact alot of refs to auto related functions (resample, downmix, delay (albeit 0), audiodub). Now, if later on the original audio is used, wouldn't it speed up the transcoding when the audio is left untouched?

Hello Atak,
Have some trouble shooting with ripbot 1.10.3. When i load the mkv file (h.264 video and AC3 track) the audio track is empty, not found any audio sequence.
I use tSmuxer to remux in m2ts and specify "Und" language for "FRE" and remux in m2ts. Reload the m2ts file, samething. Now i will try DEMUX and separate the audio and video tracks and give you some news about it.
Could you help me with that trouble? Could you need something ? Log file or screenshot?
Thanks,

Just want to let you know that with Ripbot 1.10.3 I get a DEP error in Windows Vista x64 with the version of x264 you are using.
Adding x264 to the DEP exclusion list allows the program to use x264 and not crap out as soon as x264.exe is called on.
