Sorry if this is obvious, but I copied over my ripbot folder from a previous windows install and now I am getting an error from eac3to (I assume) about "msvcp71.dll" missing when I select FLAC audio for DTS-HD. I have all the DLL's in that folder in tools, and I even tried download that dll and putting it in there and the system32 folder.

What am I missing? This exact folder worked on my vista64 installation, but not my new windows 7 installation.

Atak_Snajpera

if you have x64 version try also to copy msvcp71.dll to X:\Windows\SysWOW64 . I have this file in that folder. BTW. I really don't know why you don't have that file. I had no problems on all machines with Windows 7 x86/x64

Feature Request:
When loading filename.m2v and there is an associated audio file of say filename.mp2 (so filename minus extension is the same), can RipBot264 auto load the audio file ? In 99% of the case the filenames will match minus extension when processed externally via whatever tool has demux'ed them (e.g. ProjectX).
Thanks in advance

Does anyone else have trouble with the shutdown option on v1.14.5, it just doesn't work for me.

I've had this problem since v1.14.3 with the previous version working like a charm, I can't understand why this would stop working and I don't really want to revert as I'd lose the benefits of MBTree...

Atak_Snajpera

It works everytime on my system. I had RC1 now I have RTM and still no problems. I did not change anything in code after .2.

Damn,

I even gave the executable administrator permissions in case it was a UAC thing...

Any ideas anyone, I like to leave my rig unattended whilst it chews through multiple Bluray re-encodes, my electric bill is already high enough as it is!

I'm not ready to install my Home premium retail until SSD's drop in price or it forces me in febuary

Excuse me for this noobish question, I've only just gotten a BD-Rom and a Blu-Ray disc. Experimenting with converting it to a high quality MKV.

The BD movie I have thankfully has the entire movie stored on just the one m2ts file.

I'm wondering if I ever counter a disc with the movie spread across 2 of these files, will I need to merge them or something before I can use RipBot264? Or will it do it automatically for me.

Cheers.

HI Ingram

Ripbot will do it automatically , you just select one of the m2ts files like you did before and ripbot will look for the playlist

Awesome.

I'm onto my 3rd attempt now!

First attempt I somehow managed to forget to change it to resize to 720P.

Second attempt it resized it with borders (Didn't realise I had to set a custom resolution) and I accidently used an audio descriptive soundtrack.

Third Attempt - in the process of doing it now, but I'm confident I'll get it this time!

Why can't you add a batch converter, it's become a pain to add files one by one.
and, can you add a 32kb/s setting for audio for psp conversions? It would allow me to cut down on filesize for my videos. Videos I have downloaded from some site had their audio at 32kb/s and the audio size was only about 5mb for 24 minutes.

Pretty please add those features, if it's not too much of a bother! :3

Yes, and I second that. If we have an option to say, "do the rest of the files in the folder just like this one", that would be great.

Right now, I am converting recorded TV shows for my PSP and iPhone, and they are exactly the same (recorded as DivX at 640 x 362). Ripbot is really fast and when I am converting it down to 480 x 272 with BilinearResize with sharpening (around 400 fps). However, adding each recording takes rather long though (around 30s - 1m to add and change the script).

Thank you in advance.

If you need to use something with batch encoding, FFCoder is pretty darn good. And it's efficient. I've been testing it out recently and it's been converting whole directories of videos to and ipod compatible format with no problems.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ripbot too, but if you want batch, try FFCoder.

Thank you. I have tried it in the past, but ran into issues trying to get a compatible output with iPhone :p.

Of course, the other reason is that RipBot is fast - very very fast :). Below is a typical conversion single pass CQ22, converting from 640 x 362 DivX -> 480 x 272 MP4.

OMG! 462 fps ?! I have Q6600@3ghz and I have no more than 150 fps with very static shows like Conan O'brien or Jay Leno (PSP profile 480x272). Bitrate is very low for CRF22 so I guess you encoded Anime.

Hi Atak,

I was encoding a recent Mad Men on an i7 920 @ 3.5 GHz. The hyperthreading (8 virtual cores) helps a lot. Ripbot pushes each hyperthreaded core to an average utilization of around 80% (i.e. 160% per physical core!). With hyperthreading off, I get about 97% average of each core.

1.14.5 with x64 enabled gives me slightly better performance and I typically see around 390-450 fps with bitrates around 250 - 450kbps. The only other non-standard setting I use when transcoding to a lower resolution (about 10% performance gain and slightly lower bitrate) is to use BilinearResize (in this case bilinear subsampling) but still with sharpening of 0.2 to better preserve the high contrast transitions of the original resolution. Bilinear subsampling tends to produces no "ringing" and hence less high frequency data to be preserved in DCT, possibly leading to slightly higher fps and lower bit rates. There is some loss of detail though, but the effect is quite subtle and typically in low contrast, out of focus backgrounds.

:thanks: very much for Ripbot!

in the old version,I can edit the RipBot264.ini.
//RipBot264 will check if AviSynth, FFDshow and Haali Media Spliter are installed

Whats the reason why audio is down converted to 16bit during the demux process for a bluray?

Atak_Snajpera
26th November 2009, 12:28
24 bit = placebo
Average joe does not have equipment/wires and special room to notice difference. Besides FLAC compresses 16bit alot better than 24bit. Also some so called 24 bit are just 16bit+8 empty bit.

Final Codecs is a stupid Codec Pack? i only installed this Codec Pack, and use MeGUI well.you just don't understand me.
the Final Codecs is already registered the ffdshow.ax.I know it must use official ffdshow.but now my question is how to only use Final Codec Pack and skip the check environment.

you just tell me how to check it?Does it check the ffdshow.ax file path or check the ffdshow's CLSID from the register?

I've had a small problem with the job list disappearing on a regular basis. I spend hours loading .m2ts files to encode overnight and then all of a sudden, everything's gone.

I suspect the reason for this is the ini file that says the temporary files should be stored on the drive with the most free space. Which is logical, except that after loading a couple of 20-30GB files to the queue, the drive with the most space changes. Ripbot then starts using the other drive which doesn't have any files loaded.

Could I please suggest that the joblist file is stored on a drive/partition that is fixed and not dependant on freespace?

Other than that, Ripbot is a truly fantastic program Atak, and I thank you for continuing to develop it.

Nobody has a text list of permissible entries?

Would be handy!!

I would also request a flag in the .INI for:
1) Default Audio Profile
2) A new "Multi File Select" option that would allow multiple files to be selected as sources, with default video and audio profiles used to load each "Multi File Select" into the Task list!!

Otherwise, pretty awesome Transcoder ;)

v1.14.6
Added: forced subtitles will be automatically demuxed
Added: priority can be changed during conversion
Changed: mpg files will be decoded by DirectShowSource instead of DGIndex. (RipBot should not hang on some mpg)
Changed: Ripbot264 will use new unix cli syntax for DGIndex (DGindex should not hang on weird file/folder names for example ../[DVD]/..)
Fixed: RipBot264 will correctly unlock DirectShow filters on non english Windows 7. (Ripbot should not hang on VC-1 sources)
Fixed: missing downmix for 7 channels
Fixed: missing audio in mpg/m2t
Removed: b-pyramid (Reason: Not compatible with more usefull MB-tree!)
Updated: BDsup2Sub 3.9.9, DGindex 1.5.7, MediaInfo 0.7.25, MKVToolnix 2.9.9, Yadif 1.7, x264 r1352M

But if you use instead DGSource and CUVIDServer then RipBot will open it.

Good job Atak, and thanks.

I have a question. During first pass cpu usage is not more than 45% with an intel e2160 and low fps. In second pass it is even lower at 15% and even lower fps. Trying with one pass quality cpu usage is spiking >90%. Encoding audio (enc_aacplus) uses almost 100%. Using HDConverttoX i always get 100% in first and second pass. I tried using the same x264 build with no luck. Can you explain?

PS. i found out that when pc goes to screen saver cpu usage of x264 is dropping to < 10%.

Finally, if it is possible to add AAC-LC 192Kbps abr or show me the way. THNX again

Thanks for this great program!
I have some questions (hope these were not asked earlier, at least I haven't found it). First, maybe it's possible to make a possibility to pause a job? For instance, I'm trying to make a 2-pass 1080p video, started in the morning, and now, in evening, I see that job will be done after 19 hours...
Maybe, if it's not possible to make that in the middle of second-pass decoding, it is possible to make a pause after first-passing?
Second question - RipBot reads chapters but without names - maybe it is possible to add this feature?
Third question - possibility of ripping of extra features (trailers etc.) included in disc, maybe this could be possible?
Fourth question - possibility to select multiple audio tracks to add to mkv container at once?
Thanks for answers in advance...

aften is an ac3 encoder. 5.1 is the limit.
