Quick question. It says "Please Wait ...Converting TrueHD to FLAC..." on the bottom of the screen; however, I am able to change selections and click "done", even though that message is there.

Do I need to wait for this to disappear before clicking "done"? I only ask because when it demuxes, it shows a % completion, and everything is greyed out during that process.

I love this software for converting videos in mkv. I ripped many videos using ripbot but now Ripbot doesn't works. When I choose a video to rip in ripbot nothing happens. I can only see a window of new job and nothing else. The next step was, I suppose demultiplexing audio stream. When I delete the file ripbot264.ini and start the application, the audio demultiplexes but again nothing happens. I cannot choose destination file type and quality setting. Please help..................................................
I am using Windows 7 in my laptop with 1gb of RAM. Thanks....

Regarding retaining hd audio tracks, yes please is all i can say! Still not sure why it isn't being implemented? It's a legit feature which many other encoders have now.

It's a compliment to atak and ripbot that despite the above fact, we still remain with ripbot and don't defect!

Most of us realise that FLAC is lossless and has better compression than THD or DTSMA. I am still mesmerised by the blinking lights on my decoder. I would like to be able to mux in the dtsma or thd tracks without conversion to FLAC - though keeping this an option is essential.

Shot for creating the best gui by far.

Now that MPCHC decodes blu-ray sup files. I would like to see that direct mux of sup files included in next version. will donate to have that option. have been doing manually all this time. including imbd url,and sup files as attachments, after encode. hows $20.00 sound? just from me. thx for the work you have been doing.

it sounds like it stops on gathering information?
usually, with my personal experience, this is a codec (FFDShow) problem. a full uninstall / reboot / reinstall may fix it. however you may want to search the thread, I know others have found other solutions.

HD audio doesn't usually work out so well in .mkv
most people have bluray source, not .mkv.
are you sure you actually have and keep HD audio though (DTS-HDMA or TrueHD)? sounds a bit weird...I may have to test that myself

Ripbot does not let you keep the original HD Audio track. So if you create an mkv with RipBot you do not get to keep the original DTS(MA) or TrueHD track. You can either keep as FLAC, core, AC3, or AAC

This has always been the case for me, at least for the last year.

That being said, however, I had some issues with a couple movies that this would not work for. Here is an example of one that I had do to the FLAC for it to work (of my 150ish movie collection on my htpc, I had to do this for about 5).

What makes you think that? With the correct hardware (i.e. AMD 5xxx/6xxx GPU, Clarkdale/Sandy Bridge, NVidia 430/450) it is easy to bitstream HD audio. I use FFDShow + MPC HC (http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/02/02/guide-setting-up-bitstreaming-with-your-windows-7-htpc-part-i/). Same goes for WMC as long as you shut off MF, etc...

dbone's guide is actually what I just *switched* to. I switched to that guide so I can bitstream HD audio using XBMC. Before I used shark codec pack and wmc classic.

All you need to do is either follow the guide above, or, download the latest windoes media player classic, download the latest shark codec pack, and then download mediabrowser. Install WMPC, install shark codec pack (tick the option for "use shark's recommended settings" after install), install mediabrowser (integrates with windows media center) and you are off.

I just switched to XBMC to give custom built intros to every movie, and I like the interface a littele better.

And, like dbone also said, you must have the correct hardware. I am using a MD 5570 and it works like a charm. For other GPU's, there will have to be different steps taken I'm sure.

anyone have any trouble with encodes doing like a frame shift kinda thing
this only applies to bluray players as it doesn't ever seem to have the issue (in the same place) on pcs
and seems to only happen in the movies that have heavy compression (i.e. bd9's but not bd25's)

it'll do this and then video playback halts for a few seconds...then resumes a few seconds ahead after skipping some video

Hey Atak thanks for the updates bro. Have one question though. Why doesn't your program handle the *.mpeg extension? Its just a little bug Ive noticed. Almost half of the material I encode comes in under that extension. Seems kinda a bother to have to rename everything.

Just tested a DTS-HD MKV (output from MakeMKV), and i can confirm the copy stream option was there for the audio!

However, also tested a TrueHD MKV (again, from MakeMKV), but didn't even get audio. Just vid.

Wonder if this is a work in progress from atak? Just about to test a DTS-HD m2ts to see if it also works.

Thanks for the new version, spent a couple of hours this afternoon trying to work out how to convert a HD WTV file, only to later find Ripbot now supports WTV files.

But I have a problem.

Ripbot only extracts a 2 channel audio stream, when the WTV has a 6 channel stream, in fact I think there are more than one stream in there - see Green Button link below.

If you read this thread (http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/t/82765.aspx) (theres only 3 pages), which I was reading earlier before finding out that Ripbot supports WTV it will shed some light on the problem.

I dragged the WTV file into Graphstudio, but it only showed 2 channel, even though I know this file is 5.1.

Following the advice in the Greenbutton thread I changed the settings in Media Center to English (MCE Settings:TV:Audio), then again dragged the WTV file to graphstudio, it now showed 6 channels.

With regards to FLAC and TrueHD tracks, I am having issues.

I select the movie, it demuxes, and shows no audio. I then select the .thd file and it does it's thing, then it is ready to go. I start the conversion; however, when it says it is completed, the output file is nowhere to be found.

I just tried doing two seperate ones, one outputting to my "G" drive, and one outputting to my desktop. Both results were, it took the regular 5ish hours to do it's thing, but at the end, no file was visible / created.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure this matters, or why this happens, but the installation of ripbot is in my c:\program files(x86) folder. But, my temp files are located in g:\temp, and sometimes located in f:\temp. G and F are two hard drives I have added to my computer.

The majority of the time, I tell the output of ripbot to be in G or F to avoid having to trasnfer the file after the compression. I have tried sending the output file to F, G, and my local desktop and none of them worked.

The file itself is always located in my D drive (a 2nd partition of my 750gb hard drive, 100gb is the system drive C partition). I do not think I have tried outputting the file to the D drive yet for FLAC compressions.

You will have to wait for newer version then or use COPY STREAM option instead for now

The COPY STREAM isn't an option when using FLAC. I always use the COPY STREAM when compressing all other videos, including all other HD audio movies; however, TrueHD is the only format I require to use FLAC on. And, when I use FLAC, the option to do COPY STREAM is not allowed. And, to make sure I am looking in the right place, this would be located under the Profile drop down, correct? if so, the entire drop down box is greyed out when doing FLAC.

some friends of mine told me that many softs are working faster under win7 64bit

I've been running Win7 64 bit since the beginning without issue. A review of previous posts will show that Ripbot is not 64 bit software and requires 32 bit version of Java (or ffdshow, I forget which one). All that a 64bit version of an operating system does for you is allow you to address memory sizes of 4GB and up (which means you can load more programs into RAM). Where this comes in as an advantage to Ripbot is that Ripbot uses x264 and x264 has a 64bit version that is reported to run at least 10% faster (my guess is because it can load more into memory at any given time).

Since Ripbot is not an "Installed" program, then there is no harm in trying to run it on your 64bit O/S since it is run from its own directory and nothing else is installed other than Ripbot's prerequisites (i.e. Java, ffdshow, Halli, etc.). Windows 7 also has options to run a program as if it were running under an older O/S as well.

I added a couple of things to this one. mainly a sub-folder in the start menu that gives access to tools not readily available because of location in the program files folder. I might be adding a shell that gives access to all the command line tools later but for now this should do... Enjoy... Oh yeah also includes a stable build of AVISynth MT...

I was wondering, what does the CRF should be when encoding BD movies? I know lower is best quality / biger size. But should i go under 18 for a max quality? Or its not worth it? The option (Low Priority) on the ripbot, what does it do? And can ripbot convert TrueHD and DTS to AC3 600? Im talking about only the audio, no video. Thanks!

This is an excellent update for new users for sure! It makes it very easy to do the install.

I installed this new version and tried my compression with a TrueHD film using FLAC and I still have the issue where it completes the entire process, but the output file never appears. I don't think you addresses this in the new update, but in case you did, I am still having issues.

Just tested a DTS-HD MKV (output from MakeMKV), and i can confirm the copy stream option was there for the audio!

However, also tested a TrueHD MKV (again, from MakeMKV), but didn't even get audio. Just vid.

Wonder if this is a work in progress from atak? Just about to test a DTS-HD m2ts to see if it also works.

[EDIT:] I see. From m2ts, I get the wave, flac, and core options so can't test. It appears when selecting MKV as source, it skips the select stream screen.

I usually encode the movie using Ripbot. Then after its done, open the movie .m2ts in tsmuxer. Mux out the HD track. Then use mkvtoolnix and open the .mkv of the movie you encoded. Then just add the HD track you muxed out, and uncheck the core, or flac track that Ripbot added. Done. Then I have a full True-HD or DTS-MA track that works with my receiver. Yeah its a little out of the way to do, but it works. :)

from mathematic point of view yes you should go as low as possible but from human point of view it won't make huge difference.

Did you miss this post? Or, if there is something obvious I am missing, then can you please post something besides "...". Would screenshots help? Would chunks of a movie with a step by step walkthrough of what I do to recreate the problem help?

Since posting I've tried a couple more files. I've found one's from BBC HD that don't produce an error have AC3, whilst ITV HD files have just 2 channel sound.

I've uploaded three files to MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/?tw22qndm45o5m).

The BBC HD file gives an error as shown below
The BBC HD with AC3 works fine
The ITV HD file only shows in Ripbot as having 2 channel sound

Here's the error I get with the BBC HD file
