redownload the package back on page one. When you extract it you should see a mkvtoolnix directory under tools. Since you are missing this one tool you might want to compare what you just downloaded versus what you have loaded on your machine.

Atak_Snajpera, upload a new ripbot installer that downloads and installs all the required files / programs. i have installed it and it looks like i have everything you have mentioned so far. i am now attempting another conversion. be done in about 13 minutes.
EDIT:
Downloading and installing the latest installer did the trick. I have my movie sitting on my desktop now. Thanks for the help. I know basically what messed me up in the first place. That was installing the Divx Plus Codec pack so i could have MKV thumbnails. Now I know in the future that i deal with k-lite first, Divx Codecs second, and then RipBot264. Thanks again for the help.
P.S.
Ripbot is a great program. I have tried WonderShare, but you have to go into the setting for each video you want to convert and make sure that it does not change the aspect ratio. I have tried Total Video Converter, and it decreases the quality. RipBot264 is just set it and forget it. The amount of space I am able to save using MKV's versus AVI's, and the video is the same quality or better is fantastic.

So I am doing 2-pass encodes, and my first pass CPU utilization varies wildly. Right now, I am doing another encode of Avatar (forgot subtitles), and my first pass is running at 45fps, but it's only using 45% of the CPU. The CPU is an i7 920 @4.2GHz w/HT on. On 2nd pass, it is darn near 100% utilization, but I read/heard that the problem could be that ffdshow can't decode it as fast as x264 is trying to sample it?
Any help is appreciated!

Have some questions here,
I've tried this 1.15.1 ver. there're some minor things and I'm wonder whether there'll be update. First of all, i'm dealing some files with Chinese filenames, and GUI doesn't recognize CHN.ts files but does for CHN.mpg files. second is that, even it can work with the CHN.mpg files, after done with setting, I click OK. when it returns to the job lists, the CHN filenames with become miscoded and unreadable. I remember the previous version doesn't have this same problem. Can you please do some minor update to fix the language issue? Thanks a lot, I really love this simple but powerful tool!

Hello there.
@atak
Long time since my last question. Remember what was the problem? The VC1 sources "moving around" with the audio synch, sometimes more, sometimes less (but always miliseconds, enough to notice that the audio comes first, then the picture of the action). The last thing you told was to use anydvd instead of makemkv, so I'd let ripbot all the process.
I did it, and it wasn't possible until last night to check it, well, I checked, and it goes the same. So the problem isn't in the MKV or ripped files. It has to be in the directshow system, 'cause now, in addition to those mini-synch problems, I have a couple of "scratches" (blockiness) in the movie (in fact, when one of those scratches occurs, the picture freezes for a milisecond, maybe its the cause of all of this)
The point being, ffdshow seems to have a problem in my system decoding vc1 streams, as it would skip some frames sometimes, or not decoding it that good, then it could be the reason.
I think I didnt had any problem before, in windows XP, but in windows 7 I havent managed to make one good conversion from a warner bluray.
Any advice? thanks in advance.

Hi guys
I've downloaded a vid ripped from .VOB -> .MKV. It's quite good but I dunno how to do it
Btw, this is the command line
cabac=1 / ref=9 / deblock=1:-2:-2 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=umh / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.0:0.0 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=3 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / mbaff=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=9 / b_pyramid=0 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / wpredb=0 / wpredp=2 / keyint=300 / keyint_min=30 / scenecut=40 / rc_lookahead=40 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=2292 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / vbv_maxrate=30000 / vbv_bufsize=30000 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00
Anyone understands this? And how to adjust this in RipBot?

Grr, there's no such thing is 'got-over-with-problems' when it comes to encoding/converting :( I have a new problem. I have everything working but somehow it will not continue to encode. For example I queued a lot of videos in the RipBot but it'll do only the first one or two then skips the rest. See this example. I have K-Lite and everything was working. I don't know what messed up my baby RipBot :(

I am getting an Avisynth error
DirectShowSource: couldn't open file E:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\audio.flac:
Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported.
(E:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\getinfo.avs, line 3)
This file encoded in 1.14.6 but I was getting a few stutters in the video (never happened to me before) and the source plays just fine. I started getting the error after upgrading to 1.15.1 so I uninstalled Avisynth, Halli Splitter, and ffdshow then followed the instructions in /tools/ax/ArcSoft DTS Decoder/readme.txt then reinstalled avisynth, ffdshow, and haali splitter. Still getting the error.

Why don't you show me Job11_log.txt or Job12_log.txt and other which has been skipped.

Send me 50mb sample to www.mediafire.com. Use DGSplit.

Only the first sample file would play (I assume that means .WMV puts header information at the beginning of the file considering WMP12 says the length is over 2 hours, lol).

Hey I just wanted to thank you for making and continuing to update your program.
I haven't done much encoding so all these settings are new to me.
What I'm trying to do is get a Blu-ray that was remuxed to .MKV encoded into h.264 with a lower bitrate. The movie maxes out almost 40mbps and I was trying to get it down to maybe tops 20mbps.
This is the original movie I have.

With my buffer size and max bitrate I end up with a file with 3765 Kbps bitrate. What settings can I mess with to get to the results I'm looking for?
I figured that the if I set the max bitrate to 30000 that when it peaks it wouldn't go past that.
Any help would be appreciated.

Um K-lite Codec pack is not necessary. ffdshow should handle any video you through at it.
The link to the installer you told me about seems to work just fine. Just follow the link in my signature and it will take you to my upload folder. Inside of that you should see a direct link to it...

1) Don't change anything in profile!
2) Use 2-pass mode if you want to encode at 20480 kbps (20 Mbps)

I think MP4Box is seg faulting at the last step. Not doing anything special, default settings, Mp4, 5.1AAC,256kbps.
At the very end Mp4Box box crashes and the resulting file isn't playable.
I tried copying all the files over to a linux box I have and running Mp4Box and it Seg faults.
Linux output:

I had the same problem and error as you, I upgraded ffmpeg.exe to the lastest from
http://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org/autobuilds/
and that solved the problem for me, hope this helps :)

Thanks a lot, I've got it running a conversion of the problem file right now, only issue is Ripbot wouldn't let me convert from FLAC to AC3, I'll have to do it manually with eac3to then use mkvmerge to create the final .MKV
I will post my results after the conversion is complete ~12 hours.

A little resolution error in RipBot
This little error is very frustrating as it keeps you switching between two settings. See this screenshot below.
http://i.imgur.com/1lCYL.png
To get all your videos/encodes autoresolutioned to 480*XXX, you have to first select the PSP.iPhone 480x272 [XXX:X] Then after that select the 2nd bottom one (B in the screenshot above); Custom [XXX:X] So now the good thing is every time you load a video, it'll be autoresolutioned as said earlier. It works great for a lot of aspect ratio EXCEPT 16:9 and the 4:3 types. If I load in a 16:9 one, the resolution will be autoresolutioned to 480x270 not, 272 and the same thing for 4:3, it'll become something like XXX*480. The 480 became the width. Can you fix these two to output the followings?
output 360x272 for 4:3
output 480x272 for 16:9
16:9 = 1.78:1
4:3 = 1.33:1
Because of this, I always have to open the resolution config window to select PSP.iPhone 480x272 [XXX:X] for 16:9 videos so it'll have full resolution and not just 270 width. I understand 480x272 is a good resolution for the aspect ratio but why leave 2 pixels out? Nobody will notice it, even if a pro does notice it, he won't care as it feels the screen!
EDIT: It'll be always a great thing if the RipBot remembers my previous Color Tweak settings. So this config window will never be needed to open again as long as you're converting same videos repeatedly xD

PSP.iPhone 480x272 [XXX:X] this is just a preset for PSP. If PSP didn't crop two bottom lines then I would just use 480x270 resolution without addborders. Is there any particular reason why you don't use PSP preset?

Don't count on it. Imagine situation that you have to use tweak option only once in first job and you forget to disable that option in next jobs. Will you be more happy?

Grab the 7 zip package off the front page and extract it to your PC and you can grab what you need. If you can not unzip a 7z file, grab 7 zip here: http://www.7-zip.org/
Also remember Atak does not make an installer that is done by the community. If you are using someone's installer to install all the required components, contact that member and let them know the problem you are encountering so they can look at the installer they created.

Again reinstalled ffdshow, avisynth, etc. but the problem continues.

If I use PSP.iPhone 480x272 [XXX:X] even for the 2.40:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratios, I will get output file that is in correct AR BUT it will have black borders at top and bottom (making 480x272). Aren't we wasting the bitrates in those black borders?
@Color Tweak, well what about this? For portable devices such as PSP, iPod or iPhone videos we should have the color tweaks turned on because it gets dark when view on the devices, so I think it'll be good if the Color Tweak settings can be remember for each video profile and it resets when you choose another video profile.
I don't think there's anyone who keeps changing color tweaks different for each encode.

No. Also borders are very useful for burnt subtitles!

I don't agree. I NEVER destroy original colors when I encode something for my PSP.

@pacaveli211 cause winrar is not free and Atak only uses 7 zip to zip his software up in for distribution.

@ajax below is aTV profile I have been testing. Can you give it a try? It is only minor tweak from Ataks default profile. VBV settings I pulled from handbrake testers and got good results from Transformers at crf 20.
--level 3.1 --vbv-bufsize 9500 --vbv-maxrate 9500 --no-cabac --filter 0,0 --ref 2 --bframes 3 --b-adapt 1 --weightp 0 --b-pyramid none --subme 7 --aq-mode 1 --trellis 0 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,p4x4 --no-8x8dct --me umh

Atak thanks for the quick review. Let me start off by saying I'm far from an expert and try to make sense of these parameters and let my eyes do the final judgment.
Using your original profile bufsize 5000 and maxrate 12000 which if I understand this correctly you pulled these values from Apple where max bit rate aTV can handle is 12mbs and buffersize of 5mbs. Using transformers as test I just bumped the bufsize up to 9500 (picked setting from handbrake), reencoded transformers and saw max bit rate jump from 14.x mbs to 18.x mbs. Streaming this file caused the aTV to stutter so I backed down maxrate to 9500 (once again handbrake suggestion) and max bit rate came back down to 14.x mbs and streamed fine.
As for ref frames I agree 3 would be correct value but since aTV relies on QT, the more ref frames the greater the chance at choking QT. Using the default profile which has ref of 1 the output file always ends of with two ref frames. Where it picked up second ref frame I got no idea. I did several different videos just changing ref frames and on one sample found some blockiness that only occurred with ref 3. Since I knew I wanted to test mixed-refs 1 I figured I had to bump ref up to at least 2 to take advantage of that parameter. Early test so far have been good.
Hope that makes sense and appreciate any guidance you might have.
Thx

@ soneca I have looked at the installer and have found no error with mediainfo.dll. Something like an AV running on your system might be seeing it as trojan and discarding half of its code (eg the supposed viral bits) when its called.
You might check your av logs and see if this is the case.
@ donut I have given it a try and it seems that the sample and have to agree with Atak.

Even when your source is .FLV, .AVI, .MKV or .MP4? I don't think the color are still original once they're in one of the above but I can be wrong. So can you tell me more about why we aren't wasting bitrates on black borders but we still see them?

Does black border contain any details? Does black border contain any moving object? Does border change colors?

You are wrong. Colors must be the same because most of codecs use YV12 color space.
