This error means that indexer (ffmsindex.exe) finished work without creating .ffindex file in /Jobx/ folder.

So there is something wrong with file or with indexer.
You can try to update whole ffms2 package in /Tools/Avisynth plugins/ffms

I tested the new file you suggested, I got another error (something about a file missing)
Since I keep v.1.17.2, I did a few tests
Both versions in DE show the error in red letters.
When DE is off, everything works fine.

Before I split the files to 2 or 3 PCs, can you suggest anything else?

Sounds like the file is not Blu-ray compliant. Have you looked at Blu-Ray_structure_info.txt to see if there are additional messages?

There is no .txt file in there, only "Blu-Ray_structure_getinfo" that runs a cmd window.

Make sure that movie is correctly decrypted by latest anydvd hd also make sure that YOU DO NOT HAVE NATIONAL CHARACTERS IN PATH! (Ripbot264 and movie!)
For example C:\ąćńź\filmy will be incorrect instead use plain letters from alphabet ( C:\my movies\some movie)

I am using Ripboth264 v1.17.4 and am using the very slow preset for maximum compression and it seems there could be a bug in the GUI. Though the CLI shows the preset set correctly, the GUI says "Slow". Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not this means it's encoding with the slow preset? I did a couple of encodes and it would seem, based on file size, that it's still using the correct preset, but wanted some other input from other users. so mediainfo is telling me, that the batch rendered video file has got a RGB video stream and a PCM audio stream. If I render this file with the Render as option, i get the same.
But RipBot264 is jut demuxing the audio from the Video, i rendered with the "Render as" option. :/

I'm sure that this has been posted somewhere already, but I have not been able to find it.

I have been using ripbot264 for some time and, with this one exception, prefer it over handbrake.

The Deinterlace and decimate options are always greyed out. I can never choose anything. The drop down arrow is not selectable. Am I doing something wrong or not have something installed to allow those options? I'm sure it's something simple, but can't figure it out.

I have two movies in particular that I want to test the options on and one is the DVD of Fireproof, and the limited edition 2 disc DVD sets of the Lord Of The Rings movies which has both Theatrical and Extended cuts on the same discs. All of those movies exhibited interlacing or internlacing-like artifacts and I wanted to see if inverse telecining would fix it. Any assistance wouold be appreciated. Thanks!

Although I've searched the thread (and the internetz!), I didn't find a solution to an annoying problem:

Whenever I set the cfg file to point to ANY temp folder apart from C, RipBot borks throwing "ERROR! Source file could not be indexed! Autoclosing in 5... 4...".

It can't be a "permissions" problem, since I tried using the default TEMP as well, but nothing, same error. Only "C" seems to be accepted.

Problem with that is that my "C" is on an SSD, and I don't want to wear it out with temp files.

I'd be grateful for any help.

P.S.: I met another problem: after running it once or twice, RipBot264 seems to ignore the "UseDistributedEncoding=1" flag. When I run it, it loads the server, but doesn't seem to use it - and doesn't seem to load the EncodingClient.exe as well. When I add a video to it and start encoding, it ignores even the server it loaded itself. At the same time, two other PCs in my network were "seeing" the servers mighty fine. What could be the cause?

@Trayman: Mysteriously - and without ANY parameter changed in ANY of two different PCs - the program started "seeing" other HDDs without problem. I must stress that _nothing_ changed, in settings, software, hardware or from my part. Absolutely nothing.

Distributed rendering, though, stopped working on the second PC as well. I tried re-unpacking Ripbot to a differnt folder and running it from there, "vanilla", without changing anything - not even the HDD parameter, and same thing happens: it loads the server, but not the client, and doesn't seem to "talk" to it. If I load the client manually and connect to the servers, they're all available - on both PCs, from both sides. But there's no way, as far as I can tell, to manually load projects in the client.

Both systems run Win7 64bit, both have loads of other software loaded. Dunno what other info you may need to help apart from this and the logs and files that follow. But, in any case, thanks in advance for your time.

I think there's no point in posting logs, since they're 100% normal. The program doesn't load the client and seems to work in "local" mode, so, no problem there - no mention of anything. Everything swell and jobs completed OK.

And here's our strange behavior of the day:

Up to now, I was working on batch mode. I tried adding a single file and, lo and behold, the client loaded and everything worked. I aborted the encode, close the program, restarted it, and now it's borked in single file mode as well. Fun thing: yes, I tried DELETING EVERYTHING and restarting, but nope, same thing happens. It's like it somehow left a note to itselft "if you ever run again, forget any mention of networks and distributed rendering, just to piss the user off".

I was paying attention, though, to any and all kinds of "behavior" while the program loaded and ran. And here's the strange thing: if I remember correctly, before each job it said something about "copying tools". Not anymore. Before each and any encode, in single or batch mode, not it goes through:

...demuxing...
...gathering...
...extracting frame...
...and starting the encode.

I'm pretty sure it used to copy something, somewhere, between the three last steps. I peeked at the temp folder and there's nothing there (as far as tools go) apart from the files needed for the encoding (AVIs, AVSs, AACs... the usual suspects). I searched each and every possible "temp" folder Windows uses, but nada.

I'm pretty sure there's some icomplete file, in some tools directory I cannot find, someplace, somewhere, NOT in the progs install dir, that stops the client from loading.

Hello!
I am using RipBot to encode Blu-ray sources to mp4 in 2-pass mode. The objective is to get the output at 4634k TOTAL (4314k h.264 1080p Video + 320k AAC 5.1 Audio). That is to say, 12 hours of content to fit on a BD-SL.

The Excel Formula:
=ROUNDDOWN(A1*391020544/675,0)
best defines the absolute maximum byte size of the intended output file when exact duration (frames/frame-rate) of the feature is entered in cell 'A1' (in seconds).

Unfortunately, every different feature (input) ends up needing a different target bitrate to achieve the intended result.

After encoding once and getting a result that varies from the target by a margin greater than 1kbps, I am having to encode a second time to achieve the target. For example, if I encode at 4314+320 and find that the resulting output file is larger than intended by 1.8kbps, I then redo the encode at 4312+320 and only then get the nearest size to my maximum target size.

Even though I have setup the ffdshow decoder to use "libavcodec", I find that this size variance is much more pronounced in VC-1 inputs.

Any help to fix this issue and be able to achieve the correct size without having to encode twice would be appreciated.

I apologize if this has been answered before but i did a search of the thread and found only 1 other poster with this issue and i didn't find a response to his post so here it goes. I apparently have a case of the stupids. I went from 1.17.3 to 1.17.4. What happens now is no matter what i try to encode i get an Application error. "Exception EFOpenError in module Ripbot264.exe at 000235DA. Cannot open file "C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\test.log". The system cannot find the file specified." Literally nothing changed but updating the versions. When i try to go back to 1.17.3 it now gives me the same error. Before this I've successfully use it on over 500 projects. Sorry if this is a rehash or just something obvious that I'm wasting peoples time.

Not sure if this applies to you, but I once had an exception error when upgrading versions. In my case, I was carrying over jobs/queue added in the previous version itself.
I then deleted the complete temp folder and also started with a fresh RipBot distribution (as downloaded; with a default RipBot264.ini file).
Doing the ini customizations and adding the jobs on the fresh distribution fixed the problem for me (besides a system restart in between and uninstalling and re-installing all RipBot Dependencies to their respective latest versions).

Change the formula to reduce the bitrate 5-10% to copensate. You can never have the exact size.

Take my advice and do not change those settings. I see that you clearly have no idea what you are doing. USE PRESETS CREATED BY x264 DEVELOPERS! (SLOW, SLOWER ... ) Do you REALLY what to disable Psy visual algorithm which significantly improves quality in most of movies?

To the best of my understanding, here are your answers:

1) Does not seem possible.

2) Does not seem Possible. But clicking on Permanent Subtitles in "Properties" normally opens the same folder the media has been sourced from, so you should easily be able to select the required subtitle file.

3) Does not seem possible. Even if there were to be a way to select Default Language, must Blu-ray sources have more than one English Subtitle stream and it would still need to be manually selected.

4) Settings do apply automatically, except for manual scripting, Cropping, Resizing, etc. So if you start RipBot, setup 1 job and then add the next, it will automatically default to the settings. Further, you could also edit the RipBot.ini file for default parameters.

5) You can edit the Ripbot.ini file and specify an exact path.

6) I should think this is possible, but not sure how as I only use standard x264 profiles, such as "PLACEBO".

I am encoding blu-rays to mp4 with RipBot and am having difficulty working with a specific title. Unlike most blu-rays, this one has 2 playlists for the main feature (00003 & 00004).
Could anyone please help by explaining how I could get RipBot to recognise it as 1 feature (00003.MPLS+00004.MPLS)?
I did try remuxing with tsmuxer, but realised that the chapter timing, audio sync & subtitles gets affected, from the point where the second stream is added to the first.
