I am using K-Lite codec pack.
The problem is that DirectVobSub also load automatically during encode/preview if the subtitles in the .mkv is set to show by default.

I use the K-Lite Standard Pack as well. I'm not entirely sure what you mean about DirectVobSub issue but that's ok. The codec pack I've always just installed it and left it at whatever the default settings were. I've tried to learn as much as I can by reading and experimenting and this Ripbot tool is great for some of us less technical guys, like me!

I long since just used the default settings of Ripbot 4.0 profile but I've tried to educate myself of the other settings. I've often seen this with a lot of encodes but maybe you have a answer, I have not found a good answer I could understand yet :confused:... does the number of R or B frames have any bearing on the quality of the encode and are these the same as "ReFrames" I see listed on a mediainfo file? I see by default Ripbot has these set to 3 but I see lot's of encodes with 4 and 5 and sometimes higher. My question also applies to the "Trellis Quant" and "Adaptive B-Frames". Would setting these to "Enhanced" increase the quality of a encode as well. I am assuming making any of these settings higher will have no noticeable effect on a encode but I am not sure.

I envy all you guys who understand off of this. I find it all very confusing :confused:

where as B and P Frames reference data from previous/subsequent frames avoiding un-needed redundancy, thus gaining better quality within less space
R-Frames are referenced frames for the b/p frames (this is the ref value I linked above)
if you set such stuff too high...it can cause issues with some media players, and for any scanning (fast forward, rewind) bluray players like to have an I-Frame every second

Wow, this all makes my head hurt ;) Thanks for the links as I will definitely try and read through some of that stuff and try to understand it. I think however leaving Ripbot at the default settings might be the way to go for me since I clearly don't understand all the technical details of x264. I have had good results at default settings so far so why fix something that isn't broke? It seems a lot of the settings can (should?) be dependent on what the source is that your trying to encode. I never do anime but I would gather some setting might want or need to be tweaked to get optimum results. In any case, I really do love this program.

The only suggestion I would make is a drag and drop feature... not really a big deal at all but just a friendly suggestion. Thanks!

I would like to seek help regarding usage of QTGMC in RipBot's avs script.
If I add QTGMC() in a normal script, it works fine.
But if I add it in RipBot's Picture Properties window, I keep getting "Invalid arguments to function "QTGMC()".

Whenever i load a file into ripbot this process just uses up ram until its 100%


is there any way to stop it, or install an older version.

I presume all those who use win 7 on 64 bits would be interested in it ...

Ok, i have updated everything, install all that i think i need, but i keep coming across more and more .mkv videos that will get stuck at "gathering more information" they are all usually from the same goup of videos, but one refuses to move past "gathering more information" This is the 3rd of 4th group of videos in which a single video from the group will not convert but all the rest will.

Also i do have the latest version installed and i am using windows 7, x64

AFAIK, RipBot doesn't use ffmsindex.
What you are trying to achieve can be done using other GUI such as MeGUI.
Use the file indexer in MeGUI to ffmsindex the video, the script should use FFVideoSource automatically IIRC.

Running RibBot264 v1.16.5. Major props for this program. I've only been using this since v1.16.4, but I've ripped over 200 blu-rays with it so far. Quality is excellent and I've been very pleased with the results.

I've tried digging for a solution to my Demuxing Error problem for more then a day. Essentially when I try to rip Star Trek The Original Series, season 2, disc 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, and season 3, disc 1 (I haven't tried past disc 1 so far), I receive a Demuxing Error. All of season 1 ripped fine and season 2 disc 2 and 5 work fine.

I'm running Win7/64 on two different machines with the same results. I've posted the contents of the Demuxlong.txt, test.log, and mkvinfo.txt in hopes that they will lead to any ideas that could solve my issue. Thanks much.

Sharpen() does not recover details. It increases local contrasts in a small neighborhood, but it does that on wanted content as much as on unwanted noise. It is a "stupid" filter with no sense for the content.

Furthermore, applied after a resizer with some overshooting, it makes artefacts related to the Gibbs phenomenon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibbs_phenomenon) just worse.

And they are again worsened by DCT based video encoding (ringing artefacts in MPEG-1/2/4-ASP blocks), hurting the compressibility ratio. I am not sure how much it hurts H.264 too, as this uses another integer transform instead of DCT.

But after all, post-sharpening is just an illusion. So never apply too much of it. And if you must, then try to use smarter functions, like SeeSaw, or chose your resizer already with more efforts.

It's common for me because I always forget to check if my drive has enough space. So the encode fails due to a lack of space to put the processed .264 stream =P

check where your temp folder resides, see if the drive has enough space to do the encode.

And I installed all the softwares it need.
Then I launched it, and made all the configs and then Added to the queue.

When I launch the queue, Please Wait is only there.. for hours.. Nothing happens.

I've also read that Dune will play external idx/sub in a 480p resolution. Are there any settings within the Ripbot tools that let me convert 1080p Subs to 480p? Or would it be easier to just create/download SRT files?

I'm experimenting with the BDSup2Sub.jar found in RipBot's tools folder. I can manually convert the Sups to 480p subs and they don't look too bad if I double their size.

you can drop an subtitle file into tsmuxer and 'demux' it, this will result in a sup file
or, alternately, if you select subtitles from a bluray (.sup) I believe ripbot will OCR / Convert them to .srt for you - I'm not sure on that though
BDSup2Sub will output sups as well, I dunno if it'll input text subtitle files though

Yes... encoding audio to .aac
Encoding didn't fail earlier but I'm guessing the encoded audio file should be in the temp folder... but it isn't.
I am encoding a DV AVI file... something that should be easy because audio is WAV to begin with.

I have a question about using RipBot which i've been using for all my backups to my media box. I just got Close Encounters of the Third Kind: 30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition and ran into one problem. Since the Ultimate Edition has all 3 version on the disk how are you able to rip each version? I'm really only intrested in the extended version where you see the inside of the ship at the end. I went back after finishing my 1st rip and noticed that it was the original version that I had ripped, so I went back to under stream and noticed that the next 2 files were only 3.9 and 3.3 Gig long and that the very 1st file was over 9 Gigs in size. There's no way this could be right or am i looking at this the wrong way.

you should get a selection when ripbot first analyzes the bluray
this will have the audio / video / subtitle tracks and all that
at the top should be the playlist option. there should be 1 (or more) playlists for each edition / cut
if you can't tell which or need any further info grab bdinfo and scan the disc

Let me start by saying I did not read all 480 pages, though I did search.

I have been a handbrake user for years. Just started using RipBot here and there recently and think the output quality is better then I get with handbrake using the same options. So I think I'm going to make RipBot a permanent solution.

Are there any plans for a forced subs feature/option like in Handbrake (if not, are there any subtitle guides specific to RipBot)? Is there anyway to speed up the intial video indexing in RipBot (this initial step is taking 10+mins whether I rip directly from my dvd or rip the dvd to hd first which adds another 5+mins to the process)? I've got 1k+ dvds to rip and 100+ blu-rays, so any time saved is huge as I'm already having to go through and re-do all the movies I've already done with Handbrake as I've noticed some have audio drift and other are just massively out of sync.

Is there anyway to speed up the intial video indexing in RipBot (this initial step is taking 10+mins whether I rip directly from my dvd or rip the dvd to hd first which adds another 5+mins to the process)? I've got 1k+ dvds to rip and 100+ blu-rays, so any time saved is huge as I'm already having to go through and re-do all the movies I've already done with Handbrake as I've noticed some have audio drift and other are just massively out of sync.

As of the indexing part, I do not know of any way to speed it up.
The only solution I see would be to rip the DVDs to the hard disk in batches first, then open it with RipBot. Start the first job then add more jobs to RipBot.

Use hdbrstreamextractor (eac3to) (http://code.google.com/p/hdbrstreamextractor/downloads/list) or tsMuxeR (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/tsMuxeR) to extract the subtitles of Blu-ray and SupRip (http://exar.ch/suprip) or SubtitleEdit Portable (http://code.google.com/p/subtitleedit/downloads/list) to convert SUP to SRT.

For regular dvds (haven't ripped many blu-rays with ripbot yet) I don't get the option to extract subtitles within ripbot, unless I'm just missing it. So for dvds I have to use something else to extract the subtitles first, then use ripbot to select those subtitles and burn them into the movie?
