Can you explain what it will mean for an encode result burnt on a BD25? Will it just have a movie but instead of TrueHD there will be LPCM? Will there be a ny difference between it and the original track? Is there any way to make it TrueHD again before burning on a blank?

I noticed a slow down as well with 1.14.1 vs. 1.13.3. With the first pass, it was doing like 3-4 fps instead of the 9-12 fps.

Waiting for the new release that fixes the oversized DTS track.

Must be the new x264 slowing the process down - just tried the same movie with 1.13.3 - all commandline settings are the same used in 1.14.1 ( bitrate ,drive partition all the same) . With 1.13.3 encode is about 70% of the time using 1.14.1 and all cpu utilization is higher.

Yes! Movie will have LPCM audio instead of TrueHD. You must know that uncompressed audio has 100% the same quality as compressed format. This like uncompressing .zip or .rar archive to original state.

Thanks. I was not sure how it works with the audio. So the only difference will be what: the bigger size of the uncompressed LPCM?

Yes! Around 40% bigger. Do not worry about that because BD has enough room for video and uncompressed audio.

I think I know why my Sony S350 is not FF/RW and chapetering ok. I put a ripbot file into mediainfo and GOP sizes is Keyint= 250 and keyint_min=25. I put a BD ReBuilder file in that works with the S350 and the keyint=24 and keyint_min=1.

Why don't you check if Keyint= 25 and keyint_min=1 work better for you?

By about 40%!!!? That's still kind of crazy. So if a TrueHD track is about 3-4Gb, uncompressed will take 5-7Gb? That's a lot and video will have to be of lesser quality. I know 25Gb is a lot for both video and hd audio, but a golden middle by leaving the original TrueHD would be nice. AC3 is too little and LPCM is too much (why waite additional 2GB of space that could be used for better video).

You will need cybernetic eyes to see any difference! x264 is VERY VERY efficient. Movie shrank to 7.96 gb can look as good as original! On BD you have 3 times more space! Besides If you are that crazy about quality you should not re-encode at all!

I wonder encodes at which percentage rate of the original video will show signs of lesser quality? I remember when I did encode DVDs, video at about 60% would show macro blocking etc.

There is no golden value! Some movies require more bits ,some less. End of story.

I encode 1080P videos to 3.99gb (4094mb target size) with 5.1AAC Audio with minimal quality loss to fit on FAT32 devices.

I find this offers a great compromise between absolute quality and convenient size, In my opinon the low compression/high bitrate of a normal BluRay video (average 15-20Gb) + 3-4gb of 5.1 audio is more to allow the use of lower hardware specifications in dedicated BluRay players meaning lower producton costs for manufacturers than to guarantee the best image quality.

As long as the device you use for playback has the horsepower to decode a more agressively encoded video stream (e.g a PS3) you won't notice a big difference between a 4gb encode and the original (except for maybe a bit of blocking and averaging in dark scenes)

I don't know what's wrong but I've tried 3 seperate computers and I still can't get RipBot264 to allow changes when a avs script file is used as video input. It worked perfectly in the previous version. It's like it is not detecting the video format. Loading a mkv directly everything works find. Loading a avs script file for the same mkv doesn't work. This is the script:

I confirmed it worked using Spline36Resize(1280,544). Although I have found that it doesn't work using LanczosResize(1280,544). So it seems to be a function of resize algorithm. Maybe I uninstall AviSynth 2.58 and install AviSynth 2.57 and see if that makes a difference.

Well for one you can't use Spline64Resize but I think that is a function of AviSynth version. :)

I was right! When I replaced DirectShowSource.dll from 2.5.8 with older from AviSynth 2.5.7 everything started to work again!
New version will automatically load older DirectShowSource.dll for .avs files

I did tests on my Q6600@3ghz with older x264 and newer. Source is 1920x1080 downsized to 1280x720.
New x264_x86 r1162 (RipBot264 v1.14.1)
Pass1: 32.24 fps
Pass2: 14.86 fps

Older x264_x86 r1114 (RipBot264 v1.13.3)
Pass1: 31.61 fps
Pass2: 14.22 fps

I was looking for a simple to use program to re-encode my own personal MKV rips and I hope this works out well. I've got about 2 hours 20 min left on a 2-pass that's taking a 25GB MKV to 8GB. It's taking over 24 hours to complete; which is fine I guess. I would like it to be faster though. I'm running a Pentium Dual Core E2200 @ 2.2 GHz with 3GB of RAM on Vista. I guess that's normal. I noticed that at the bottom of the RipBot264 encoding window it says "Low Priority" and it's checked. I didn't even notice that before I started this. Would unchecking that make this go quicker?

I waited like for about an hour (muxing should not take that long anyway) but nothing was happening. Hard drive was not active. I had no choice but abort the RipBot.

It was a Russian blu-ray movie. I did not keep the working folder. I started doing another movie right away but without HD audio. I will try a movie with TrueHD later again and will see if it will work.
I looked at log files before deleting them and the ones that were there did not have any error reports. I guess Muxing process just froze. I aborted Ripbot and it deleted the encode. TSmuxer was still in active processes and I had to close it through Task Manager.

Funny you should mention that! I've been meaning to thank for your 'low priority' setting. I start an encoding and then start playing a game. Ripbot is so well behaved that I never even notice it is running in the background. Obviously the encodes take a lot longer, but that is to be expected.

It would be nice if Windows allowed one to assign a process to a core or series of cores (game to core 1, Ripbot to cores 2,3, & 4), but that doesn't seem possible.

I think you'll find doing anything, even web browsing, painfully slow unless you've set "low priority". At least I did.

procesor is your limiting factor for sure, if you had some quad it would be faster hehe.....overclock your e2200@2.2 to at least 3.0ghz and you'll notice faster encoding and fu btw :D:p:p

You did? So, RipBot still allows cropping? (other than 720p, 1080p are not supported in AVCHD). Frankly, when I saw the AVCHD option on images posted here, I didn't update any more, thinking you'd abandonned cropping.

Hey Atak_Snajpera, there a bug in RipBot264v1.14.0 & RipBot264v1.14.1, that hang on Please wait... Extracting frame & also crash avs2avi. after some test i found out the problem & it's both RipBot264v1.14.0 & RipBot264v1.14.1 that make Please wait... Extracting frame hang & make the avs2avi crash. i also try RipBot264v1.13.3 & it has no problem's what so ever since it don't use Extracting frame. the problem can be fix by taking off Extracting frame.
