Hello to all,
I have searched this thread and i apologize if there is an obvious answer. Can the ripbot ini be configured to place the temp folder on a NAS accessed by a cifs share.

Can anyone help me with this? I tried searching through the thread but wasn't able to find anything. I am currently ripping a separate file with MakeMKV and merging them with MKVmerge but would really like to eliminate that step from my process.
Just mux them in manually, for god's sake.
That's what I do now and am looking to remove from the process. If you don't want to help, keep your comments to yourself. Thanks.

Just wondering if there would be any advantage in having Ripbot's temp folder, all on it's own, on a separate hi speed HDD or SSD ???
I've noticed that way too often when I start a job/queue, it can take a very long time to do the "copying to shared folder" & "indexing" process, even when you have nothing else is using the HDD that the temp folder is on.
Any suggestions ???

decent ssd is always faster than the best hdd. keep temp files on ssd for the best performance.

Thanks for reply, Atak, I will give it a try with a separate 7200rpm HDD 1st, and if it's "good", I will try an SSD.

Still having problems with the newest x264 builds (official), not reporting the x264 [info] in the generated log file. The last build that report the info (eg. Avg QP, Final Ratefactor, etc) was build 2345.
I'm currently trying out build 2377, it sometimes reports ONLY the 2nd pass, and that's with 20-30 min shows, but with longer movies, it only reports on the settings used, what it muxed & how long the encode took.
ANY help would be appreciated.

i've noticed similar problem. anything above r2345 does not work in de mode. they must have changed something in their code because my code is unable to capture 'encoded' string. result endless loop on server's side.

Not using DE mode, just normal 1 machine encoding, but I'm guessing the problems are related.

I've been getting that 0000494A error for awhile now. I noticed that the videos usually have an odd resolution. I've been reencoding the mkv files and that usually does it. I have had maybe one of the last 10 that it didn't get rid of the error. What version of Haali Media Splitter should I be using, just in case the one I'm using is wrong???

Hello all. I may be asking a question that was once answered but my apologize as I can't seem to locate it.
I would like to change my temp folder to another drive other than "C". Is this possible. I tried changing it in the ini file but got errors.
Reason is that my "C" dive is a low capacity SSD that I simply use for quick booting purposes. I installed everything including program & data on "D", "E" & "F".
:thanks:

@Viper714
In the RipBot264.ini change "StoreTempFilesin=" to the drive letter of your choice in my case it's F.
So the line would read:
StoreTempFilesin=F

First of all - I really like RipBot264 and have recommended it to numerous friends. Thanks for this extremely useful tool!
I made the mistake of recording my FIL's memorial service with breaks at 30-minute intervals to keep file sizes under 4GB each. The basic specs for the camcorder's resulting video files are:
MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 29.97fps [Video]
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz stereo 256kbps [Audio]
The plan was to join them when I got home in a lossless manner with a tool I'm most familiar with that does it - VideoRedo TVSuite 4 - and then cut if/where necessary into a file(s) that could then be re-encoded to various filesizes with RipBot264.
So far I don't seem to have a problem re-encoding the original 30-minute segments with RB264, but it seems that once they've been altered in any way by VRD (even just a no-re-encode save), they can no longer be re-encoded by RB264 without issues. The issues are that the audio and video either get out of synch or the job "finishes" prior to the video being re-encoded. This is something that never happens when re-encoding with VRD, but I can't get anywhere near the same resulting quality per filesize as with RB264 (most notable at severe compressions).
So I guess I could simply use RB264 to re-encode from the original files only, but this really limits the flexibility I have to give people the kind of files they prefer. Besides, I'd really like to have an understanding of what's going on so I can avoid such issues in the future.
For reference, I've attached the MediaInfo details for an original file out of the camcorder (MediaInfo - JVC.txt) and what it looks like after being lossless saved out of VideoRedo TVSuite 4 (MediaInfo - VRD.txt).
-------------------
Edit: Well, VidCoder seems to be re-encoding the non-re-encoded VRD files, so hopefully any quality difference will be negligible.

Well, I am having nothing but issues with RipBot264. I have been using it since 1.17.3 and it has worked fine before. At first I wanted to use a machine just to handle the main task of farming out the tasks to other high powered machines in my home. That is the reason I want to use a different drive because i have an SSD in the Main machine. So I have One Master and three slave machines. I run two servers on each of the slaves and the master maintains and hands out the queues. The master .ini file placed the temp on drive E and writes the final mkv on drive E as well.
Everything seems to go well until I get half way through Pass 2 and it just freezes. The encoding dialog says "RipBot264 Client (Not Responding).
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo54/pcubillos/Snapbucket/11-24-2013205-49-5620PM2.jpg
So I decided to change the Temp back to C drive. Same issue. I decided to have my desktop PC to not only act as a slave in converting but be the master machine as well in handing out the queue. The original master is still holding the original rip created by AnyDVD. Same problem.
Also noticed the server windows on the other slave machines are also frozen and (not Responding). Have to force closed. Just fyi I have a cat "6' network for added throughput.
Can some one please advise what would be my next step??

Thanks for the reply, however that didn't make any difference.
Having now had some time to experiment I have found that removing the subtitles from mkv solves the problem.

Well, I said I reported it. But I didn't say I fixed it =\
I have no solution to offer, its one of the reason I stopped using Ripbot. The headache and uncertainty of it flubbing up in the middle of a job and taking out half my encoding power wasn't worth it for me.

Atak: Thank you for the quick response!!
Majority of the times it hangs on Pass 2.
I have tried encoding 2 different AnyDVD (2 different movies) rips on two different machines. One a 64 bit and the other is a 32 bit (.ini file : "Usex264x64=0").
Sometimes the encoding works, but sometime it crashes. Very Strange. No set reason.
Haven't tried running it on one PC by itself. Will try that overnight.
I did get one crash where three of the four computers had a avs2yuv.exe crash.
I do notice that when it crashes, all of the servers on all of the machines become non-responsive. It is not until I kill the program on the main computer/server.
Would any kind of a log help you.

when avs2yuv.exe crashes this means that decoder crashed (fms2) . are you sure your cpu is 100 perent stable? i'm asking becauese first pass went without problem.

As far as stability stability I would have to say yes. All four machines are stock and are not overclocked in any way. Further more I have converted several blu-rays in the past. This has only recently begun to happen. I would say within the last two weeks. The 32 bit machine i mentioned is a clean machine with Media center and Shark007 Codecs.
Not sure if that would be of some informational use. I can sent you a Belarc Advisors profile of my 64 bit system if you can provide me a secure email to send it to ...

Is there a way to change the size of the chunks that the distributed server will make? It would be nice to shrink the job size to more chunks for when you have a bunch of servers.
Atak_Snajpera
7th December 2013, 12:41
smaller chunk size may not be optimal.
in 2-pass mode shorter chunk may noticeable reduce quality (flattened overall bitrate)
in cq mode it may increase total encoding time (starting process steals few seconds)

Are you sure you have enough space on that partition? I suppose that vjoin.exe could not find one of chunks because it had not been created (encoded).

Thanks for the quick reply!
Yeah...I have 2TB available and was just only doing 1 job. I am trying again...
Also...I am doing this on a WD 2TB black drive, so it is speedy but the indexing is incredibly slow. It took 2 hours to index before finally going into DE. I did an HD tune on the drive and avg 85.9 MB/sec xfer rates. I tried it on the SSD (150 MB/sec avg) as well, but still took almost just as long. System is a dual-quad Xeon 2.5ghz server.
Went into resource manager and noticed that the ffmsindex always avgs 3 MB/sec during the index. I don't remember ever being that slow when I used ripbot last year.

When you get that error check whether all chunks (x.264 files) are created or not.
Trayman
10th December 2013, 20:23
If there is a file missing vjoin reports Not all input files exist.
So it shouldn't crash if a file is missing.
But if one of the files is removed during the join it crashes.
I will add a check for drive space before starting the join and check again before trying to open the file to mend the "lost" file crash.
The new version can be found here vjoin-3.0.0.4.zip (http://tray2.se/files/vjoin-3.0.0.4.zip)
Cheers Trayman.

That's whats odd...I just let the program run overnight and I woke up to that error, so I know I didn't inadvertently move a file...there is another job wrapping up soon, so I will see if it does the same thing.
Also...thanks for the updated vjoin.

Ok...I tried to encode my movie again last night. I realized I had the wrong version of FFDshow, so I had fixed that on all my clients as well as updating Trayman's vjoin.
Everything worked fine, but still after the encoding was complete, ripbot just hung there "Gathering information" for like 20-30 minutes. I check resource monitor under memory/disk use and the system was basically idling. There were no processes by ripbot being used. I went back to the directory where movie .x264 should have been stored and didn't see it.
So I don't know what's going on.

You can mux it manually if you have the temp files
You need to run CombineAllChunks.cmd inside folder jobx\Chunks and then run jobx_MuxFiles.cmd inside folder jobx
RipBot264 must be running

I'm sorry about my bad english today, I'm a bit confused today...
ok so as you can see, i tried to use the job1_MuxFiles application, but after nearly 70% it says: "Error importing C:\Temp\RipBot264Temp\video.264:name=Ohne Titel: I/0 Error"
