the only way to have HD audio with ribpot is to use PCM or FLAC
if you want to grab just the core track (this is a lossy track contained within the HD track for compatibility with older equipment) you can demux with tsMuxeR and check the 'downconvert' option
both DTS-HD and TrueHD tracks have this. DTS-HD usually has a 1536kbps DTS and TrueHD has a 640kbps AC3
if you want to keep the original TrueHD track you will need to demux / remux it into your competed file outside of ripbot

Not absolutely sure of what empty folders you are referring to, if you are referring to the jobs folder, uncheck keep jobs queue in RipBot.

Also, there might be a problem/bug with RipBot since it's stuck at gathering information while decoding a video with MP42 video codec.
It couldn't be ffdshow since it can decode MP42 perfectly fine.

Brother if i burn the dvd from my camcorder (AVCHD) it will reduce the quality as the dvd resolution is 720x576...i dont have BD Recorder so i want to rip it in MKV format and keep it on DVD as file format...right now the camcorder file is of huge capacity and i cant burn 2-3 dvd's for just small time video..

Did some re-encoding with a .mkv video file using both of the profiles mentioned, no problems encountered.

BD5 and BD9's are bluray / HD content on DVDs.
these will play in bluray players, and since they're dvds....you don't need a bluray burner

Try a previous version of x264, see if the artifacts are still there.

Update: The artifacts appears even when I open the original source file when I open it in MPC-HC, it seems that the problem lies with how ffdshowmt decode the file.
The earlier version of RipBot works fine as it index the file with DGAVCIndex before encoding.

I only managed to encode your file by manually running DGAVCIndex from RipBot's tool folder.
Using DGAVCIndex, I opened up your .ts file, saved and demux the file.
Then, I open the demuxed .264 file with RipBot and select the demuxed audio as well.
After setting the audio delay to 14ms, I got a decent synchronized output.

I have checked the FLAC option and when I read the demux log I see the original track is downconverted from 24 bits to 16 bits. Why?

I found a readme under Tools\Ax\ArcSoft DTS Decoder that I followed. Is something wrong with my decoding?

Until today with a specific video, the x264 application crashes at about 60% through the 2nd pass.

The video is an HDTV recording I made at a high bitrate so I could trim out adverts and compress it (with Ripbot) later.

When I add a job (1080p MKV) while RipBot is encoding, it takes a long time for demuxing. When I set "low priority" on, demuxing is much faster. RipBot should automatically activate "low priority" when adding a job, and change to normal priority when the "add job" window is closed. Just an idea.

Well, you already have the option of doing that (change to low priority just before adding the new job, back to normal when the job is added), and without too much trouble... and some people might prefer not to sacrifice their encoding time/performance for the sake of adding jobs faster... I think it's perfectly fine as it is. I would like an option to have jobs be deleted automatically as they're finished, but I won't insist on it, since the funcionality is there, now, just not automatic. =)

@Atak,

I know you are against using TrueHD/DTS-HD, and go the route of flac, however i thought i would beg again! :)

Please would you reconsider, and add support for retaining TrueHD/DTS-HD audio? I'm sure there are plenty of users out there who have to go the long route of encoding video with RipBot, demuxing TrueHD/DTS-HD, remuxing the lot to MKV.

Of course, there are other video encoding tools out there that can do this, however as a compliment to you, i'm only interested in using RipBot!

You could save people a stack of time! Surely this is a legit feature request and would be well served?

I think I've got it sorted now, thanks :). For some reason, the encoding will fail when outputting the file to an SSD. I changed the output directory to one on a regular HDD and it worked fine.

Hi Atak,

The RipBot is crashing when I try to normalize the audio using the base 3.0 for iPod.
Showing "Please wait... Initializing" forever.
Without normalization have no problems.

How is the first time I had to normalize the audio, I did not know who took the time(Please wait... Initializing) to scan the file.

I spoke too soon! It's still happening, but it seems to be fine when running it over remote desktop from my laptop. I guess there's something running in the background that Ripbot doesn't like. Oh well, at least it's working :).
Knowing my luck, it'll probably start failing again using this method too.

Just out of curiosity... Why would I prefer 2-Pass mode over CQ, other than to limit file size? (No criticism meant, at all. Just curious. I always use CQ mode by default, but just now had to use 2-Pass to limit file size, and was wondering what other advantages it might have.)

2pass is just to encode to a certain size / bitrate
CQ is to encode to a certain quality
neither of them are 'better' in terms of output quality. it's all relative to the settings you use along with them.

@Atak_Snajpera - first off, let me just say thank you so much for writing this program - i love it and have been using it for about 2 years now. one issue i have though, (apologies if this has been mentioned but i cant go through 421 pages) is that i have been stuck using version 1.14.2 for a while now because every version released after that doesn't seem to work for me. Specifically what happens is that when I select a stream from a blu ray, it demuxes it and then once it hits 100%, it says "Gathering Informations" and just hangs there. I have literally let it sit there for over an hour on more than one occasion and nothing happens. The same thing happens in 1.14.2 when I select FLAC for audio also. I am using Win 7 x86 Ultimate. Please let me know how I can resolve this issue and if you need more info or want me to run any tests for you, just ask. Thanks so much for your help!

tried changing (VC-1) codecs with ffdshow?
full uninstall of FFDshow / reboot / reinstall?
someone had a list of install order a few pages back. might want to find that. it seemed to help a few people when installing things in a specific order

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Haali and Avisynth? I would uninstall all of that, including ffdshow, and reinstall it all to see if you can fix your problem.

I don't recall the order of installation ever affecting me. I honestly can't remember in what order I installed Avisynth and Haali.

Tell us about your system configuration , pls !!!

There could be the problem...RipBot264 v1.16.3 does not require a specific installing order.
You can try to DELETE all adjacent softs that compete in operation of this program ,and re-install latest versions of them...
