I just do not understand what this is all about. yes, the quote said wait for new version, it also said "or use COPY STREAM.". Key word is "or". New installer just released. Sorry for the delay. I added a couple of things to this one. mainly a sub-folder in the start menu that gives access to tools not readily available because of location in the program files folder. I might be adding a shell that gives access to all the command line tools later but for now this should do... Enjoy... Oh yeah also includes a stable build of AVISynth MT...

that's the option i use to dump to a single 6-8 channel wav file but i still have to use eac3to with this command (eac3to.exe "x:\a\a.w64" "x:\a\6channel.wavs") yes wavs which outputs an independent wav for each channel. 6channel.L.wav, 6channel.C.wav, 6channel.R.wav and so on. it would be awesome if you could add an option to have ripbot264 do this so i cant cut out the extra conversion step. thanks again.

Could I ask of you if you would mind adding the possibility to keep the DTS-MA (HD) or TrueHD track in the complete rip as of choice? As u now can with the other sounds like DTS and so on?
Or even better to have thoose above and also have DTS or AC3 in the same release, I mean in the end, like DTS-HD set to "Default Track Flag: Yes" and on the same ouput "Default Track Flag: Default", that would set DTS-HD as the first to play! :)
Since as of now I allways have to mux that one back to get a complete release!
One more thing... could u make the list of subtitles "strechable" so one can see more of the subtiltles added and for easyer overview for us to sort them ? ;)

Recently I came cross two problems with encoding audio, RipBot264 just hanged during the audio processing. IMO problem was that both audio were 96kHz. I encoded audio directly in eac3to with no issues, both from direct audio source and from PCM file. Regards. Marek

The RipBot v1.16.4 not recognize the audio on some containers MKV with AC3 audio when I select the output MP4 or MKV.
When he recognizes the AC3 audio from a MKV, the synchronization does not work well while converting to AAC in a container of MP4.

Is it normal that my colection of harry potter are between 5000kbps and 7000kbps video? Ive encoded them all at CRF 18. The output size are like 6gig for 1080p movies. All my other movies are like 10mbps and around 10-16gigs.

MB-tree and qcomp complexity estimation now consider the duration of a frame in their calculations.
This is very important for visual optimizations, as frames that last longer are inherently more important quality-wise.
Improves VFR-aware PSNR as much as 1-2db on extreme test cases, ~0.5db on more ordinary VFR clips (e.g. deduped anime episodes).

WARNING: This change redefines x264's internal quality measurement.
x264 will now scale its quality based on the framerate of the video due to the aforementioned frame duration logic.
That is, --crf X will give lower quality per frame for a 60fps video than for a 30fps one.
This will make --crf closer to constant perceptual quality than previously.
The "center" for this change is 25fps: that is, videos lower than 25fps will go up in quality at the same CRF and videos above will go down.
This choice is completely arbitrary.

Note that to take full advantage of this, x264 must encode your video at the correct framerate, with the correct timestamps.

doesn't handbrake use x264 as well?
if so then they're not really going to come out any better (quality wise) being that they're encoded using the same thing
it's just about setting the correct x264 options and ease of application use =)

Yes, Handbrake uses x264. What I mean by better is the subtitles being in sync after I make them smaller in size. The quality was fine, just the subtitles were not. I left the default settings and only changed the filesize. Hopefully, that's all I need to do. Or do I need to adjust the frames and other things? I opened the .mkv with MediaInfo and it shows the encoding settings. Should I be trying to match the encoding settings in Ripbot or Handbrake? Thanks.

I just started 2 and am going to crash. I'll know how it goes when I wake up.

EDIT: So far so good. Have 1 done and it looks great and subtitles still in sinc. Awesome! Thank you again! :D Next one goes from 1080p to 720p.

1) CRF is a rather constant rate between an "optimal" quality and a desired quality. If one movie is very easy to compress (e.g. little motion, little sharpness), it needs less bitrate to preserve a given fraction of the "optimal" video quality because already the optimum needs less bitrate. More motion and more details (sharpness) need more bitrate to be preserved good enough.

2) The definition of the optimum and its fraction changed in the latest x264 versions supporting variable framerates. They now depend on the framerate.

I can't say I've ever seen a bluray with just DTS, so I'll assume you mean DTS-HDMA or DTS-HDHR. in which case you'll need to make sure you're choosing the 'core' option.

eh, it's a free app man. and the options (at least these that we're talkin about) are kinda self explanatory...
wav decodes / decompresses the audio to wav
flac encodes it to flac
core extracts the core

Of course they are, I am not saying otherwise. However you cannot guess how each option will affect the options you have at the next step. A tooltip would be nice.

1. yes you can manually specify any x264 switches and save them. each profile has a corresponding text file...or you can edit the profile in ripbot itself

2. yes you must install / have things: ffdshow, avisynth, haali, Java

I've been using Ripbot 1.16.3 for a while now and have switched to 1.16.4. I have noticed that MP4box isn't addressing files over 2Gb. Then I compared the two versions and realized that 1.16.3 has the gpac patch and another dll library and that isn't included in 1.16.4. Although the newer version of mp4box is significantly bigger. Maybe the dynamic library and patch are included but isn't working? Anyone else having this problem?

dude, the audio options were just discussed. while you obviously can't be expected to go through 455 pages of posts you could try checking the page you're on / the one before it.
fyi TrueHD does not have a 1.5mbps core, it (generally) has a 640kbps core. DTS-HD HR/MA will (once again, generally) have a 1.5mbps core. Lossless and compression do not simultaneously coincide. with compression is quality loss, even if in negligible or minimal amounts. Depending on your home theater setup you probably can't play FLAC...unless you have something like a WDTV / HTPC / some other media player. RipBot doesn't support HD audio stream copying, if you want to keep them just mux them in after encoding.

ripbot doesn't support copying HD audio (excluding the exception someone found the other day in which it'll copy DTS-HDMA from an mkv). so if you're seeing 'copy stream' it's just referring to the core or whatever is in the job folder

erm, ok....Ripbot looking ok for now, I did notice that when trying to select flac as audio i got an error from eac3to saying that MSVCP71.dll was missing

i found that dll on google, BUT it wont play ball
i know the process of what i`m doing is ok, as i re-registered an existing .dll that was allready there.

I assume i`ve got the wrong type of dll ?

Thanks again, pacaveli211. I just redone a few movies that had the subtitles out of sync which were done with Handbrake and they are perfect now. RipBot is a better program for what I need to do. It does take longer to convert them but oh well. Atleast now I don't have to worry about the subtitles being out of sync any more. :)

In modern systems, the decoder takes the core (lossy), then compares the data with the Extension (lossless) and applies the extra data that needs to be played and are lost in the core to deliver the best possible audio experience.

Bottom line, if you don't have a decoder that support DTS-HD (and I mean a hardware one), just using the Core option to demux and then copy stream, you will hear the exact same sound you would hear by demuxing the DTS-HD channel and mux it in the mkv yourself. Minus about 1GB of audio data.

So unless you have a home theater equipment (decoder) that supports it, just copy the Core.

I had that msvcp71.dll problem too. The way I fixed it was I just moved the downloaded .dll to windows\system32. Ripbot also complained about a msvcr71.dll file too. I downloaded and moved it there too and haven't had a problem since.

yes, just manually demux / remux it back in
if your source is true bluray you should get used to scanning with bdinfo / and demuxing using the playlist via eac3to
this is sometimes necessary because of multi m2ts/branched movies and audio overlaps
