Well not being able to play the demuxed file was the fault of media player HC. However I was still getting bad aac files, just not the one in the job folder. It happens when you select normalize. Here is the log file for when the error occurs.
It's working great as long as I dont try to normalize the audio.

Here's the source test file I was using just in case.

Anyone having any trouble ripping "Midnight in Paris"...? It has Cinavia and 3 channel audio; I remember Vicky Christina Barcelona being a problem with 3 channel audio a year or so ago but hadn't run into a problem again until now.

I try to run the conversion, and it just sits on "Please Wait..." forever.

Hi,

I've set the .ini file so RipBot uses the G: drive for temp files. I added a bunch of jobs for an encoding-fest while I'm away for the day tomorrow and then switched my computer off. When I turned my computer back on a bit later today and started Ripbot up all the jobs have gone from the queue. All 22 of the temporary folders are still on the G: drive, how can I get RipBot to see them again?

This is very similar to my problem. I'am trying to recode for android. source is mp4 avc/aac 6 ch. yes i have lastest ffdshow.
The no audio, in my case, comes from when ripbot264 demuxs the source. If you check the working directory and try to play the demuxed file there is no sound. ripbot264 encodes this 'blank' file ending up with a video file with no sound yet it does contain an audio track.

Checking, and you are correct. I have the same problem. The demuxed audio file is blank. I'm going to try and mess with the container and see if 'kicking it' makes it go.

I am using the latest release as of February 3. I'm receiving corruption almost every minute. It's odd, sometimes I'm getting corruption every minute, other times, it might be clean for a minute before occurring again. This occurred while encoding Cold Mountain which is AVC:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cold-Mountain-Blu-ray/33169/

But this corruption does not seem to have occurred with Lost which is also AVC.

Here is the link for the first 90 seconds of Cold Mountain. You can see the corruption at 1:00. I am using denoising on both Could Mountain and Lost:
http://www.mediafire.com/?3xoxqhhe848d3w9

I will upload the first 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the video.mkv source as well. I'll edit this post when it's uploaded as well.

I noticed something when using ffmpeg to cut out the piece of the video.mkv file. I'm receiving an error under linux:
[matroska @ 0x97db240] Application provided invalid, non monotonically increasing dts to muxer in stream 0: 83 >= 42
Under the latest nightly build of ffmpeg for windows I'm receiving a different error:
[matroska @ 00000000045BB010] pts < dts in stream 0
av_interleaved_write_frame(): Invalid argument

Finding this ticket:
http://www.avcodec.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/960
At the bottom it says:
As you've already noticed, the timestamps in this stream are not valid. The duplicate timestamps happen many, many times in this file. The file is broken.

So I'm going to cut the 3:30 seconds from the original m2ts source and upload it.

edit: Here is the 3:30 seconds of Cold Mountain from the m2ts file. I used mediafire.com this time :) and dgsplit (anyone know if dgsplit is compatible with unix split?)

Hi Atak, are you able to advise on this issue? I notice that the jobs.list file is empty?

EDIT: figured out how to modify the jobs.list file to add the jobs back in.

Do you still get corruption without denoising filter?

I took the exact same job, just removed denoising, and the problem is still there.

I'm leaning towards there being a demuxing problem since the video.mkv file shows errors with ffmpeg.

I'm still trying to get the original source uploaded. I'll update my original post once it's done.

edit:
I guess the best test would be to take the same job and open it under 16.5 to see what happens.

edit2: Re-encoded using 16.5 and everything looks fine. Perhaps the issue lies when splitting the source? I have no idea at this point? Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide.

That did it. I used mkvmerge to remove everything except the video and the ONE English track. Ripbot encoded it fine. I'm not sure what happened, but does seem to be an AC3 -> AAC issue. Checking the sound fine that is extracted, there was some audio in it. Almost sounded like the LFE channel, but that is all. There has been channel mapping problems before with AC3 so this might be a version of it.

Thank you for great piece of software!!!
It works great. I use it all the time. But I encountered 1 file that produces error when gathering information, after demuxing.

With 1.17 it produces error:

Exception EConvertError in module RipBot264.exe at 000093E2, " is not a valid floating point value

With 1.16 & 15 it just hangs at gathering information.
I tested file in other programs, and it seems OK.

Here is 8Mb fragment of file that produces same error:

I read some other reports with this error and I noticed that you suggested to use Win7 instead WinXP, but that is not option for me (have only 500Mb RAM).

Thanks for your work and help!!

Hi,

Not sure if its possible (although I'm sure it could be), qpfile support for AVCHD output would be awesome. At the moment I'm creating a qpfile with Shon3i's ChapterGen tool, placing it in the RipBot job** folder and manually adding the --qpfile switch to the encoding command. Would be great if RipBot could do this automatically for AVCHD output.

While trying to convert a DVD; I'm hitting the generic "Couldn't open input file in HIDE mode!" error from dgindex. Like earlier posters have noted this is occurring because the command line argument for the input file is missing. However; while some other posts talk about DVDs where PgcDemux is generating multiple vobs during the combine stage - in this case only one very small vob is created. Based on a manual run of PgcDemux is appears that this occurs because Ripbot264 is not passing the "-pgc" argument so it defaults to 1. In the case of this movie there are four PGCs. The first three are trivial lengths while 4 represents the actual movie.

Is Ripbot264 expected to detect the correct PGC (perhaps by looking for the longest one) in this scenario or is the omission of "-pgc" deliberate and something else is going wrong? (In this particular case I worked around the issue manually by using PgcDemux directly to create a new single vob and then processing that with RipBot264).

BTW I'm using version 1.17.0.

Thanks,
Jeff

if the width is divisble by 4. So

702 / 4 = 175.5 so its not mod 4
but
704 / 4 = 176 with no remainder so it would be sweet.

Quick question if you please

I want to keep the TrueHD as a sound source, the only 2 options available (I dont want core) is wave or FLAC, both change this to PCM in ripbot.

Am I doing something wrong or is that the only options available?

Nothing is wrong, use the "no audio" option, and then remux the old file with the new video using mkvmerge.
I hope Atak will add the direct stream option soon

Thats good to know, I love the program. I build all my AVCHD's with it, maybe Blu-rays in the future.
I would like to see some additions with ripbot in the future, wether any of them will ever appear depends on Atak of course.

1. A pause button
2. Ability to have more than one audio stream
3. Lossless streams (DTS-HD & TrueHD)
4. Being able to merge m2ts files & create chapters (Im working on South Park at the mo and its a nightmare)

Thoughts and feedback would be interesting

Thank you!!! I was so confused why only this file doesn't work.

So, I would have to re-encode this file in correct resolution to import in Ripbot264 or there is some workaround?
Can I somehow import file in Ripbot264 without "gathering information" and then resize or crop with Properties button?

Thanks!

Additions I'd like to see:

1. DTS-MA and TrueHD support for bluray output
2. Ability to have more than one audio stream
3. x264 qpfile support for accurate chapter seeking
4. 2.0 AC3 audio option for MKV

All four can be worked around but would be good if RipBot could do this natively to save a lot of time. I think however if Atak was interested in these, especially 1, 2 and 4, they would have been added by now. 1 and 2 have been requested almost weekly by different people :)

RipBot is a great tool that Atak has done a great job with, but with these additions RipBot would be the complete tool for me.

You DON'T need a pause button. I play Civ5 while encoding. It just drops down to 1 fps. No problems with the game and no problems with ripbot so, why do you need a pause button? I know the instinct is stop the encode, but low priority works just fine.
As for chapters, I've never had a problem transferring chapters to my encoded file. If you are asking for ripbot to create chapters... the point of ripbot is it's simple elegance.

The request for streaming audio/video might make it in because that doesn't change ripbot. It simply removes a feature when you don't need it.

I would just like Ripbot to be the only program I need to use. Its such a wonderful piece of software.

tsMuxer can join m2ts files but if too many are added you get OOS issues so currently (as with South Park) I have to take 14 m2ts files, run them through tsMuxer, join them with a script I found online (Thanks to Atom) to stop the OOS issues, put them back into tsMuxer and create an m2ts with it changing chapters at the end of each episode, a lot of watching for when each episode ends and creating custom chapters there. You can see where im going.

A choice of a 2nd audio stream so if I wanted to add a second language or directors commentry it would be just another drop down box without having to calculate the amount of space left.

Lossless stream abilty is self explanatory, not overly need yet but in future for BD25s I would want to use ripbot.

I wonder why I don't get that error at all ?

I wonder if it's the software I have installed. I installed the software AviSynth , Haali Media Spliter , ffdshow that you provided links for a few weeks ago. Is there a particular version that I should test with.

A few other minor bugs that I thought I would bring your attention to.

If I use a VPN on the master machine, the EncodingClient won't be able to connect to the other machines on the local network with the IP address (not the name). I can still ping them though. One time when I was on the VPN and started the client, it showed a local IP of the VPN's network and not the local one specified in the ini file.. I "think" even if I specified 127.0.0.1 as the IP of the local machine, it still showing the LAN IP in the EncodingClient. If I make sure I'm not connected to the VPN during the start of the EncodingClient's distributed encoding, I can then connect to the VPN and encoding will continue happening as expected until it starts the next job.

The other minor bug comes when you edit the file result location of a job that was already in the queue. The second time you edit it, it shows the job folder and not the location of what it was originally set to.

The third minor bug comes from after you just submitted a job, and you click on to edit it, it selects a different job to edit. If you I click on the last job again, it then selects the last job.

edit:
I was also looking at the Donation link on the first post, and I for the life of me can't find the United States listed and make it show English. Do you have a different donation link, such as through Google Wallet (checkout) that I can use?

I keep reading about Paypal screwing over projects with "donate" buttons because donate is a US legal term indicating the recipient is an IRS sanctioned and authorized non-profit charitable organization. Paypal is a necessary evil, and they are definitely evil.

Edit - mp3tag.de accepts donations via Paypal. Ask Florian.

I was reading the guide to create the donation link where there are options for country and language and Poland comes with two options for links > Polish and English.

Donate link now redirects to US version instead of PL

I had an error on a last night's encoding
"Error: Simple chapter parser: 'CHAPTER27NAME=Robert Inspects the Border' is not a CHAPTERxx=... line."
The PC auto-shutted down and I found the message today. Obviously it's a chapter issue, but I lost the video that was produced, so I'll have to do it again today.

Can you make it to keep also the temporary video file, until the job is completed with no errors?
Then delete the temp file or leave it there for the user to find and work around the problem

Thanks in advance

Only if the source is MKV. From a blu ray structure source, it cannot.

I followed the video tutorial to the letter (or is it picture?) for distributed encoding and when I try it Ripbot will still only locally encode. Are there more detailed instructions somewhere?

@fantasmanegro Keep Jobs in queue only keeps the "Job" in the queue not the finished "work" it has done. That gets muxed to the location you specify.

I too have had to re-encode jobs because of an error. weather it be an error with subs or chapters. On these the only solution is to not use the sub/chapter, or try to fix the prob, and have it as the only thing in the queue. that way if it does error, you still have the finished 264 and aac in the temp dir. otherwise the next job will del/over write the work it has done. Hope this helps.

Hi,

After an update from version 1.16.4 to latest 1.17 version i have an odd problem with mkv files. Sound is not available. If i open an avi or mp4 or ts file it is showing sound.
I checked the mkv files with mkvtool and there are sound tracks available. I am running win7 64bit with latest avisynth, ffdshow and haali 32 bit versions.
I also have deinstalled the programms and installed them again but problem still excist.

Hi,

Would it be possible to add (maybe as an .ini setting) an option to default to a chosen language for when the audio track is 'undetermined'?
