Thank you for this very useful program, as well as the time you spend here answering questions.

I have read all of the posts for 2010. I cannot find a definitive answer to a problem I am having.

I have one BD disc I cannot transfer to the hard drive.

I am using AnyDVD HD version 6.6.8.3 to read the disc. Then RipBot264 version 1.16.1 to transfer it to a file.

At the encoding stage I receive this error:

“DirectShowSource: couldn't open file D:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\video.mkv:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(D:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\getinfo.avs, line 2)”

The error message is correct. There is no such file in that directory.

I do not have any other codecs installed. I have removed and reloaded all files ripbot264 uses. I have even reloaded the operating system.

The mkvinfo.txt file says:

“Error: The source file 'D:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\video.mkv' could not be opened successfully, or retrieving its size by seeking to the end did not work.”

I suggested this as I read elsewhere it fixed the issue for someone. you might want to change your mpeg2 codec. there's also a work-around here

leaving out the 'codec pack discussion':
so the solution is to uninstall / not install directvobsub, as it is the problematic component here, right?

maybe put a check of 'known problematic components' into the script which checks for haali, ffdshow etc. ?
yes i know this list could never be complete and up-to-date, and so on. just a thought.

the codec settings are within the FFDshow config options. and your issue is with an mpeg2, that's why I was sayin try changing that. the vc-1 codec shouldn't be relevant (since it's mpeg2, not vc-1)
also make sure you're choosing the right video track (sometimes blurays have secondary video tracks for commentary / behind the scenes kinda stuff), I say this because I see information in your log about standard def video...which you shouldn't have since you're encoding a bluray
if none of this is helpful like I said in that other post you can always just demux/remux yourself
or wait for Atak to answer

Thanks for the advice. This is a Blu-ray disc. I have transferred seven other Blu-ray discs without any problem using this same method so I assume it is something about just this disc. I just cannot figure out what it is so far.

you don't need directvobsub because ffdshow already can do the same! Trust me all codec packs are useless. Haali Media Splitter + ffdshow is all you need for conversion/playback!

Hey guys I'm having a strange problem I hope one of you guys can help me out with..

I use DVBViewer to watch tv on my pc and all was fine but after running the newest ripbot I found that the video in DVBViewer goes blurry and the framerate appears to be lower.

If i reinstall K-Lite codec pack then the issue is fixed, but as soon as I run Ripbot again the output in DVBViewer again becomes blurry. Anyone got any idea what ripbot is changing to make this happen?

video encoding can take few hours. 10min for audio is nothing.

I was thinking more along the lines of encoding for iPods and other portable devices, for example. With low resolution and complexity, the encodes are very fast (hundreds of frames per second), just seems to be a quite noticeable 'bottleneck' (if that's the correct term here) for people who batch encode for such devices. Most of the CPU does nothing for a good while before each encode starts, depending on length ofcourse.

I love your application regardless, was only suggesting it because I thought it would be a nice improvement for almost all users. :)

I have a DVD - Das Boot - that defaults to German. It has an English version of the dialog. I can play it from the DVD using Windows Media Player. However, I cannot see where I select the English version in Ripbot264. Select Streams would seem to be the place, but it does not appear. What step am I missing?

Hi,

I have a problem that was discussed a couple of posts before.
First the proceeding:
I added the subtitles to the job, thereby converting from .sup to .sub. Then I assigned a language to the subtitles and started the conversion.
Result: Selectable subtitles embedded in a mkv container are selectable in VLC Player, but are actually not displayed. For other mkvs (not created with ripbot) it works - so it's no VLC issue. Is this problem a known issue with the current version of RipBot?

split the track at the gap and add some delay to the second part
or find some blank audio to add in
or....try demuxing with TSmuxer as it should not do anything with the gap (except maybe say it's there)

Ya, I got it thanks. I split the track and remuxed while adjusting the audio... which took a bit of trial and error to get correct. Then I merged and remuxed.

I've extract it into Megui\tools\eac3to...I hope will work , even it says that is a 2008 version :( Why is so old ???

if you really don't have those folders, your installation didn't go right. I suspect maybe you're not lookin in the install directory or something though



Changed: HD Audio is now decompressed directly to .w64 instead of intermediate .wav (eac3to 3.21 fixed bug in .w64 header)

24 bit DTS-MA+DTS-Core is just a waste of space. 16 bit FLAC is a better option and don't tell me that you hear difference between 24bit and 16bit.

flac is not really option if you have a bluray player
it's also not if you like keeping things as unmodified / original as possible
DTS-HD MA is not a waste of space because it is lossless. however wav / PCM is a waste of space because it contains redundancies

I was unaware of eac3to not being able to fix gaps in TrueHD. I'm not sure I've run across a branched bluray with TrueHD though
it is able to fix them while demuxing / decompressing though?

Is there any benefit to using CoreAVC w/Cuda support to decode the video for Ripbot vs ffdshow's ffmpeg-mt?

I was just messing around with it last night and when using CoreAVC /Cuda the Video Engine load (as reported by GPU-Z) was around 10%-20% while ripbot was running and the x264 was at 98%-99% cpu usage and avysynth (I think that was the name anyway) was using around 1%-2%.

So by offloading the decoding to the nvidia card via Cuda does that provide any benefit to the encoding speed (assuming the decoding would be using roughly the same 10-20% of cpu instead of GPU - I'm a complete noob and have been looking these things up as I have time)? I did notice that while using ripbot and CoreAVC together Ripbot doesn't update progress and the window simply shows "not responding". I've seen a lot of posts about benchmarks on decoding speed...but not really any using it along with encoding for speed benefit.

I'm doing an encode right now just to see (Prince of Persia blu-ray) and when it's done I'm going to re-do it with the same settings only with CoreAVC.
I just figured I'd ask here to see if anyone had any thoughts if it was worth it or not or if the gains (if any) to be had were negligible.

if I use PCM for a BD25 I waste GBs of space that could be used for video. and then it just doesn't sound the same. something to do with surround sound decoding the audio vs the bluray player. and once again...it's just unnecessary especially when I want to keep the original audio

in eac3to and more gui there's a "If Gaps File Found, Rerun Command Line For Affected Files" option

Hello Atak,

I've experience some movies burned with BDMV + CERTIFICATE folder burned after conversion of PS3 reading only has a file (seen only folders) need to navigate and select the m2ts file has a file.

Some LG Bluray readers of my mother can't read the disc! I tested to change medias type, brand, burner, it does the same.

Now i test to repack again with tsmuser to AVCHD format to reburn and see if the problem is resolved.

Did you get feedback of this issue from other members?
