Look, I do not know if this has to do with something that has already been reported here.
The version of MKVToolnix 5.2.0 in the subfolder Tools differs for this mkvtoolnix-unicode-5.2.0.7z (http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/win32/.dirindex.php?sort=date&order=desc)
I noticed that this latest version is more stable. Especially in regard to MKVExtract.

Turns out I tried to update the YAMB (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1495596&postcount=9535),
and MKVExtractGUI-2 did not work with the version 5.2.0 of MKVextract which is inside the RipBot264.
Only with the version of the Website, which has the same reference, but is different in KB.

Recalling that the MKVExtractGUI-2 did not work with MKVToolnix 5.2.1 as well.

If this does not interfere with anything, then please disregard. I'm just trying to help.
Now I'm using in the RipbBot the same MKVToolnix 5.2.0 of the bunkus.org

I've used this program in the past, and like some of the features it has. Namely subtitle abilities. I'd like to use it again, but a newer(Beta-Generic) version of FFDSHOW is apparently required to use it (4200+). BD rebuilder is currently using 3882. So clearly I'm gonna have to hope, that the new version does not hinder BD rebuilder in some way. Because I see no way of bypassing the version requirement for Ripbot264? Or I can simply spend a lot of time installing and reinstalling different versions of FFDSHOW.

I'm gonna run 4206 and see what happens :)

Actually I'm interested in the outcome. I use both RipBot and BD-RB and at the moment I'm forced to choose one or the other because of ffdshow.

Ok i managed to get Distributed Encoding sort of working to the point, where it tries to connect to my other computer in the homegroup, that's as far as i get. The Encoding Client will connect to localhost but wont connect to my server. Any ideas anyone?

There don't appear to be any problems with using the 4206 FFDSHOW with bd-rebuilder. Didn't think there would be. But with such long encodes, I worry about even the smallest change ;)

Is there any reason why Copy Stream has been removed for TrueHD/DTS:MA?

At the moment i'm forced to use MakeMKV to create a Remux, then Ripbot to encode the video, and then MKVMerge to put the new video into the existing file with the untouched audio streams.

I get this problem only with certain(random) files. It's rare, but I just ignore those and don't encode them. I've encoded about 800 files with the new version and got this error about 4 or 5 times. If you have this every time, there must be something on your machine that ripbot doesn't like. (Personally suspect some codec.) Sorry, I don't have any more useful info.

I actually have managed to resolve this issue. It's not ripbot. I changed ffdshow from clsid 4206 to version clsid rev 4225 http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/files/SVN%20builds%20by%20clsid/generic%20builds/and the same files that created that error before no longer do.

I hit add, select a file, and get an error. Bottom of the window says please wait, gathering info. Rip bot doesn't create any log.

Exception EFOpenError in module Ripbot264.exe at 00023522. Cannot open file "C:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\test.log". The system cannot find the file specified.

Encoding server is running on two machines. Encoding client is running on the same machine as RipBot (beta version). What have I done wrong that it's not chunking the video and distributing it? I see nothing being created in the log directory unfortunately :(

Not really anything to record.
1) Open RipBot
2) Click Add
3) Select file
--I've tried a ton of different files. .avi mjpg, .avi huffy, .mp4 h.264 none of them work.
4) Open the file
5) Bottom says it demuxes audio - appears to work, since working sound file appears in temp folder.
6) Bottom switches to "Please Wait... Gathering information...", video and audio fields fill.
7) Error pops up immediately.
8) Hit OK.
9) Wait for like 5 minutes to see if anything happens - nothing. A 37 second mjpg in .avi shouldn't take that long to analyze.

And that's it.

Edit: Hrm, I can go right from BD media though and skip the step I've been doing to pull the video onto my HD. Assuming I can get the profile where I want it this just might work. I do wish the portion where I choose the stream I want etc. was a little more like the eac3to front-end meGUI uses where I'm presented with .mpls to choose from though since the default stream RipBot chooses and analyzes isn't always correct for me and I have to wait through another analyze cycle. Fingers crossed that this time it works though!

Question: How does RipBot handle Forced Subtitles? I see the option to include specific subs but it's not clear how I can obtain JUST the forced subs that aren't burned in... Alright I may see the answer to this - some of the .CMD files have commands being send to BDsup2Sub and appear to retain the FORCED subs - sweet!

Well, I may just give up for the night. I put in a BD that I've been working with but which didn't have the first file as being the one I wanted (Toy Story 3). This is an example of a BD "structure" yes? I pointed RipBot at the drive, drilled down to the Stream folder, selected the first M2tS file of the set I wanted, waited while RipBot analyzed the wrong playlist, selected the right one - waited again. Selected the subtitles I wanted and told it I wanted FLAC audio. Mind you the title of this dialog says Blu-Ray structure so I was pretty sure I was getting there!

When that was done "analyzing" and I clicked okay I was at the New Job dialog and it was ripping apart the streams - "Demuxing Selected Streams". I could see a video.mkv file being created and when it hit 100% it went back to 0% and started building the .flac audio file. This all took quite awhile but when done I added a poster to the job, adjusted the CRF and input my desired profile. At last I was ready!

At the main window I could see my job sitting there and I hit the Start button. Nothing occurred in my Encoding Server nor my Encoding Client. Instead RipBot informed me it was Muxing and a few minutes later said it was done :scared:

I looked in the output folder and found a less than 1Gig file that contains sound and a short bit of video. I still had all of the intermediate files to include an 18gig .MKV file that the program built when it was "analyzing".

Looking at the logs (http://pastebin.com/1ZYYrX1Q) it looks like it tried to mux in a video file from one of the previous attempts where it ran standalone and had to be terminated when Abort wouldn't work. That file is now gone. Multiple attempts to get this to run properly by editing the existing job fail and the log file ends telling me it cannot find a .264 file to work with.

I've spent about 3hours on this now and watched the tutorial multiple times. That tutorial video works with .VOB files and leaves me with no clue as to how to work with a BD disk but I'm all ears, especially if there's a way to do this without waiting ages for various background eac3to jobs to run. How is anyone else doing this?

Surely I'm missing something but heck if I know what. I'd like to be able to insert a BD disk into a drive, select the main movie I want to encode, keep forced subs, maybe compress DTS to FLAC keeping 5.1, and fire it off against two different machines. However I see no attempt to Chunk anything and RipBot simply creates a .MKV which I think we've pretty well established cannot be spread across multiple machines.

P.S. Tried this on a BD rip folder sitting on my drive and got the similar results. As soon as I leave the "Blu-Ray structure" dialog it begins Demuxing and creating a video.mkv file. Upon starting the job it encodes my DTS to AC3(?!), and finishes in seconds. the log (http://pastebin.com/SVbfDgh5) again says it cannot find a video.264 file:confused: where and what creates this .264 file? It seemed to be created fine when I was attempting to encode MKV files previously.

First you must do the decrypt of the BD disk by copying it for the HDD using AnyDVD HD or DVDFab, or both.
You must do this to remove all protections.
From the HDD, the RipBot takes care of the encoding.

Yes, they decrypt on the fly. Which is quite handy most the time. But there have been discs in the past, that were so plagued with protection schemes, they could not be done on the fly. Which is one of the reasons ripping to disk is a function.

Correct, this is exactly how I generally work with BD - I don't first rip them unless the formatting of the streams is such that I cannot easily figure out which is which... fingers crossed that one day BD Menu support will be available on software I'm willing to run :)

When you work from the HDD and have to do multiple iterations to try and find the right stream or you want to pull multiple versions\create a multi-path MKV then yes working from the HDD can speed things. you go through just one painful copy and then it's done - Toy Story 3 and Source Code would be two examples of this IMO. However generally I'm just pulling off one obvious video stream to a MKV, reencoding it, then putting that result and the audio(s) into a MKV container with chapters and maybe forced subs, sometimes director's soundtrack. In that case it's much faster to not copy the entire BD - having done this a few hundred times I've got it down. What I'd like to do is try to see if I can speed up encoding, I use pretty high quality and would like to try and get more than the 16-22FPS I get now. Spreading this load to another machine that's idle would be helpful if it's possible, I've just yet to figure it out for BDs, has anyone?

Omega - I've yet to find a disk that AnyDVD-HD won't properly decrypt if the Slysoft folks have seen it. New releases often lag a little but I'm okay with that since it can take awhile for those to hit the used market anyway so I seldom have them the first day anyway. Can you give any examples? I'd be interested to see if I've seen them already. Forced subs and goofy language streams are what get me most often, same with the streams that have "extras" like one of the X-Men movies I bought when it first came out. After waiting forever to encode I found it was certainly NOT the movie version I wanted :P

I'm afraid I don't recall the titles I had to rip to disk. They were DVD's though. Dvd shrink had trouble working with the disk, unless it were ripped via anydvd first. I don't use dvd shrink exactly though. I use it for viewing purposes only. (also note that I backup full discs, not just the main movie).
I just got into the habit of ripping straight to the disk. Since I have 13+ terabytes of hard drive space, I don't need to worry about it :p

I have a problem with subtitles. I want to rip a bluray movie to a MP4 container with subtitles.

I load my bluray into RipBot264 and in the job1 folder it has the sup files. I thought it would of converted them to sub files? in the ini file it has the following section:

So I have been barreling through encodes with the distributed encode feature and finally sat down to watch my first movie and noticed some problems. Basically the movie has either stuttering or pixellation at almost every 10 minute mark (14400 frame break point). The movies were all encoded at CQ and I have noticed issues with some, but not all of the movies I have done thus far. This is clearly a problem for me using the distributed model if these are my results. Has anyone else noticed this? I am trying an updated client and app that Atak posted previously to see if that fixes the issues.

UPDATE: Tried the latest RipBot264.exe end EncodingClient.exe posted by Atak and the problem still exists. My test movie encode had pixellation at the very first 10 minute segment point. I guess it is back to one machine encoding for now. Cool idea, but needs the kinks worked out.

Never had this problem pixellation.
For those videos with a lot of action, or with many sudden movements, change to CQ=18 so you can avoid the pixellation in any encoding.
Romance, drama, etc.. can use CQ = 20 and even 22.

Thanks Jandor. The pixellation or stuttering I am referring to is not a direct result of the encode itself. I am using the new Distributed Encode feature to split the encode between my 980x and 2500k. The problems arrive at the split points (which are every 14400 frames). When the "chunks" are reassembled the transitions are not always fluid and there were clearly issues with the encoding of the final frame in the 1st segment or the first frame of the 2nd segment and so forth. It appears to be a problem in the split itself and I am not really sure how that can be remedied. I have gone back to VidCoder for now.

balthazar can you send short sample where pixelation occurs? most likely ffms2 has still some bugs. does pixelation occur for specific source (MPEG2 , VC1 , AVC). alternatively i could try to use dss2() instead of ffvideosource()

I already miss the old profile interface you had before. The old bars and drop down boxes with labels made it easy for a noob like me to google what each of those settings did so I could make own profile setting.

Good thing I did have them made before so I just put them into the new version. Should still work right? Same old commands?

Any information on said file? Maybe it contains petrakian verse or french drama?
