Well, at the moment there is no way to change the encoding parameters for MPEG-2 in any way. What effect will have disabling the trellis?
***
Few new things in the latest update, mostly about avisynth script support as input files:
* preview in [transcode] window should work better now with .avs files
* multiAVCHD supports audio from .avs scripts. It will add it as 1st internal audio track and later will encode it to ac3 on-the-fly
Avisynth script support gives you great freedom to create your own scripts and use them as input to create any output (hd-dvd/sd-dvd/avchd/blu-ray)...

Hi Dean
Do you know the "Moving Pictures" ?. Its a plugin for Media Portal (media center). This program can search for data about a film on the Internet. It's wonderful.
Maybe you can put him or anything like that in Multiavchd, so we have only write the name of the movie and the program automatically fetches the data from it on the Internet. Another request: It aims to provide a space on the menu where we could put a synopsis of the movie?
Hugs and thank you.
Clayton
P.S I am sorry for my bad English

Dean, why does multiAVCHD convert txt chapters stored in MKV to srt?
deank

Because I find it useful for some content (like timestamps from camcoders or songlists). User can remove the added file from title properties or disable [-] auto load external subtitles.

I knew there was a good reason I just didn't understand. In my case I add raw h264 file then manually add external audio and chapter file. The external chapter file is converted to srt and I assume included in the compilation. Should the srt file be deleted after the compilation is complete?
deank

External .chap.eng.srt should be created only with videos which have chapters stored as meta info... It shouldn't happen with raw video files or when importing external chapter files (.txt). Are you sure that it converts the .txt to .srt?

Unfortunately I can't give you a 100% honest answer right now because I don't have any files accessible on my laptop. I'm "pretty" sure that it converts an external .txt chapter file (extracted from blu-ray using eac3to) to .srt because a .chap.eng.srt is always left behind after the compilation completes.

It would be a bunch faster I guess.
Anyway, with latest release I've got a failure to encode.

It was fixed earlier today, just update with multiUPDATE. The problem is caused by a space character in the title-name [2012 ].
You can reuse the audio and video files and not reencode the whole thing again. Make sure to [alter detected properties] of the imported m2v file and set it as [x] (HD)DVD compliant.

I've already build 739 anyway I updated manually with multiUpdate.exe .
It shows 739 again yet it looks like having changed.
Should I wish to reencode from scratch would I have to set it HD-DVD compliant or just SD-DVD (as I'm doing a SD-DVD compilation)?
deank
24th March 2010, 15:35
Yes, the build is 739.
Mark it as [x] (HD)DVD compliant. The box is for both HD and SD DVDs. (the button is in title-properties [alter detected properties]).
You should have the audio auto-loaded... I don't know about the subtitles - you may have to add them manually. It won't reencode the video (only will reprocess the audio) and all will be done in less than 10mins.

Absolutely no. This option is for such cases only. When you have the compliant file already and want to skip the transcoding.

Why?!
Wasn't that the point of the last few messages? Since you already have it encoded there is no need to reencode it again... I guess it is too late now (unless you still have the encoded .m2v file).

Nice to see a tool that inputs BD and outputs DVD however I'm having all sorts of problems with it.
1. When a BD is inputted and all but one title is removed this shows up in the log:
[11:24:09] No valid information found! (00001.mpls)...
[11:24:09] No compatible folders/files processed...
It ends there.
2. When an m2ts is inputted this shows up in log:
[11:17:46] *** Transcoding failed!
[11:17:46] *** Check ffdshow/avisynth/haali (reinstall)!
[11:17:46] *** DEBUG: Try to play [c:\multiAVCHD\tools\20100324-111221-uncrop-running.avs] in MPC or other player, which supports AviSynth scripts and report the error to the author!
But all is installed and configured correctly, it goes on to say it will use ffms2 then this error pops up:
---------------------------
Visual Fortran run-time error
---------------------------
forrtl: severe (27): too many records in I/O statement, unit -5, file Internal Formatted Write
Image PC Routine Line Source
hcenc.exe 0058A82A Unknown Unknown Unknown

---------------------------
Then it continues on to doing pass two, hcenc runs for a few minutes then the log says its complete however the only thing in temp directory is hcenc.ini and the only thing in the output directory is log, and typical BDMV structure.
Running windows 7 x64, admin user, uac disabled. Any ideas?

No. I don't have any problems with 1) and 2).
About 1): if you post the log from scanning the playlists it will be easier. It is possible that the playlist contents' (m2ts) sizes are not detected.

Is it a mounted image / read-only folder you're importing? It is a simple command in multiAVCHD which checks the file-size... not much I can do... But let me know. Also make sure to get the latest update (use multiUDPATE) and check again.

The point was that I deleted all of the created files (m2v and audio) because when I've these kind of problems I prefer to go from scratch.
And I'm reencoding, thus NOT using the "Alter...." checkbox.

Before starting any encoding make sure you have any kind of preview in title-properties->transcode window. Otherwise makes no sense to try it.
About the output... Yes, it is written in the source folder... There was some reason some time ago... I'll see if I can change it. One important thing is that if it is in the temp folder and something fails after the encoding is completed - all files will be removed and sometimes the encode can be reused instead of wasting few more hours.

Hi Dean,
I just moved to windows 7 and problems with multiavchd (v739) came as well:)
I get the following error: "(RT) Failure to copy file (D:\tmp\AVCHD\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00254.mpls) - Line 27639." when I try to create a PS3 AVCHD from one mkv file (there's nothing special about it).
This happens when I start multiavchd as Administrator (otherwise, I get issues much before) and the last log line is: "Failure to mux menu and to create playlist [00254.mpls]"
The destination PLAYLIST directory includes 00000.mpls. 00254 is created in the _TEMP directory.

Might there be any way to incorporate that to mAVCHD? Another idea I have (which I will try when this test is done) is to wrap mAVCHD.exe in this thing called STESwrap:

I had the same issue, but it's just because of the way your power settings are setup. If you don't care about having your computer got to sleep, simply set your computer sleep settings to "never" in the control panel.
But, since deank is adding support for it, it may all work out.

If you don't care about having your computer got to sleep, simply set your computer sleep settings to "never" in the control panel.Yeah I knew that! ;)
Sleep mode always worked under XP, but W7 is way more aggressive, and I wonder if Bill Gates knows how many people he has driven to "Sleep? NEVER!" with this nonsense. It used to stay away if the CPU was busy!
Dean I shoulda added that the LAST line in my .cmd/bat files is then
powercfg -change -standby-timeout-ac 30
which restores Sleep after "normal" 30 minutes. (zero is Never and otherwise is minutes-til-sleep). If you do the same then you may want to give your users a way to input their preferred "time to sleep" to restore their PCs to!

There is a '-query' option to report the state before changing it, so I'll try to interpret it and reuse it after multiAVCHD completes its work. :)

That's right all my M2TS show UND but the same M2TS in TSMuxer show the right languages. Is there a possibility that MultiAVCHD do the same ? if would avoid me to open them first in Tsmuxer...

Deank, what are the max allowed birate for mpeg2 video and AC3 and LPCM audio in DVD standard? Have you got links?
Thanks

You can read more here (http://www.videohelp.com/dvd).
It says: max video bitrate 9800kbps, max audio bitrate 1536kbps.
Total bitrate including video, audio and subs can be max 10.08 Mbps (10080 kbps)

Max audio bitrate is 6144kbps if using L-PCM
Said that maybe when choosing SD-DVD the Audio Conversion setting should reflect the bitrate limits automatically: i.e. 448kbps for AC3 ........

Well, I will be glad to test!
I am only halfway through my HD-to-DVD process but am enjoying the "slide show" that you put-up in the side window! Hey who is the strawberry blond you're huddled-up with!?! OTOH at my age the yellow Lab is more my speed! ;)
This tv-room was designed by drpaulng :) may be he's there on the couch.
:) I did a small tweak to the preview, to use the unused part of the window:

I added these don't-sleep commands... Still it is a bit tricky to restore what was before, but I'll work on it. The build will be updated a bit later.

I didn't see that limit, still you can set 448 in "Non-HD audio bitrate" box before starting.

A message for those with constant problems encoding menus, motion/static, title-list menu...
I again decided to test multiAVCHD, so I installed it on my web-server computer...
It is an old Celeron, barely creeping... Using:
* ffdshow 1850 / Feb 6th, 2008
* haali 1.8.122.18 / 2007
* avisynth 2.5
* multiAVCHD 4.0.740
I used a small test clip: 50 seconds (1280x720), set it for transcoding and motion menu + motion thumbnail + chapter menu + setup menu + title list menu.
So... transcoding of 50seconds took 18 minutes:
[11:50:56] *** Encoding : One pass - content: [00:00:50]
[12:07:36] *** Close to completion - closing preview...
[12:08:54] *** Speed : 1.16 fps (elapsed: 00:17:58 - Realtime x 0.05)
pop-up (~20 seconds)
[12:10:28] Preparing authoring information...

[12:10:41] *** [00000.mpls] - Adding pop-up menu [1080p]...

Extracting 12 chapters took almost one minute:
[12:10:41] Authoring menu (NTSC).

Motion menu - ONE PAGE took 41 minutes:
[12:11:29] Preparing menu pages...
[12:11:35] Encoding motion XMB menu page [1/1] [Motion title thumbnail].
[12:52:14] Encoding motion XMB menu page [1/1]: Chapter page [1/1].
[12:53:16] Encoding motion XMB menu page [1/1]: Setup page (audio/subtitle).
[12:54:01] Menu authoring completed.
...but still completed successfully.

[12:55:06] Playback will end after title #1.

So stop complaining that it is not working and find a way to fix your super-computers.

You're right if you're encoding from a non HD-Audio source.
But what if you're encoding to SD-DVD from a Bluray with HD audio? Will it encode to 640 AC3 (if HD audio to AC3 is choosen)? If so my above mentioned request would not be pointless.

It occurred to me later that the commands are probably W7-specific and I wonder how you were going to deal with that. As an alternative, maybe you should consider just a general capability within mAVCHD that has option: execute any user command at 'start'; execute any user command at 'done' and that would cover alot of needs maybe...
