All options there are based on integer values (seconds)... It was initially designed in frames, but before the public build update I changed it to seconds and it is hard to be reversed now.

I will see if I can do something about it.

Thanks a lot !
The keyframes are the most important for chapters (I mean for Blu-ray players, maybe not for PS3 and PC) and I believe that we don't need to advance frame by frame to choose chapters index.
I say this hoping that it is easier for you to propose the keyframe research than the frame research (because there is generally between 15 and 18 times less keyframes than frames in mpeg-2).

Thanks, Roger. I updated the version in the full download of multiAVCHD and let users @ multiForum about your post.

Too early, buddy :(
I have bad news for some of us.

I canīt advise to use MeGui anymore!
I did have solved the problem two days later it/something was back and some Disk didnīt work in the Pioneer.

So here is my final advise....for so long:

Donīt use MeGui anymore....use Lord Mulderīs Simple x264 Gui (with bundled x264 Version)...from here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144140

Choose BD-Conform settings PLUS the following parameters:
--level 4.1 --thread-input --nf --keyint 24 --min-keyint 2 --bframes 1 --direct auto --b-bias 0 --scenecut 40 --ref 2 --ipratio 1.1 --pbratio 1.1 --vbv-bufsize 16500 --vbv-maxrate 16500 --qcomp 0.5 --rc-lookahead 40 --aq-mode 1 --aq-strength 1.0 --merange 16 --me umh --subme 5 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --trellis 1 --psy-rd 0:0 --mvrange 511 --nal-hrd --sar 1:1

THAT IS stable working on ALL players I was able to Test.
This way youīll have a working output, be faster while encoding plus youīll be able to use the latest tools from neuron2 (DGindexNV ect.) without thousands of errors or when coming to the latest releases which donīt work within MeGui at all.

Basically it has absolutely nothing to do with multiAVCHD, but will surely prevent from wrong complaints about the program.

Please donīt get me wrong...I respect all the love an work that has been stuffed from people into MeGui but currently this program is not up to date, so broken.

As soon as there is more progress in the "weighted B" corner we may be able to use 2 Frames and more on day again.

Iīm 100% positive that minor changes in M.E. department wonīt affect the playability. Also the preset choice for x264 wonīt affect it directly. But be warned...stay away from using 2 Frames or more with the weighted B feature!!!

Please send me feedback on this via PM, if neccesary.

--rc-lookahead 32

makes no sense with

--keyint 24

because it is limited to the number of frames between keyframes. Anyway, multiAVCHD uses 1 or 2 ref-frames in most of its presets, but still with higher vbv settings.

absolutely correct :thanks:
That happens when you play around with loads of parameters.
Even though I must confess I donīt really get the main meaning of that setting.
Lowering the number does definetly speed up....didnīt see any difference in picture....maybe due to the bad source (MTV) I didnīt recognize any degradation in pic quality.

Max. bitrate for AVCHD is generally recommended. at 16500Kbit.
16000 does not big trick, but I somehow had the feeling that the overall bitrate wins a bit, but I may be wrong.

As already mentioned.... weithed B 2 is currently broken...I read that from kemuri or dark shikari, so maybe shouldnīt use it either.

Found it....it was Dark Shikari himself: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1346219#post1346219

Can you try to put multiAVCHD in some other folder, not the same as the 'temp' or the movie one.

I can't see the reason for popBD to work and multiAVCHD not to.

***

Build 718

* Changes to transcode process for 50i and 59.94i videos (resulting in 25fps and 23.976fps after deinterlacing and pulldown removal)
* Changes (lowered values) for VBV bitrate/buffer settings when transcoding for all output modes, except Playstation3 and Blu-ray for better compatibility (no stuttering) with DVD/SDHC media.

you were correct dean. changed path to C:\MultiAVCHD and it worked. cheers mate :)

Just a quick fix (which you can get with multiUPDATE.exe):

* There was a bug when using HIDDEN TITLES. For example if title#1 is hidden, then the chapter-thumbs of title#2 (which is visible) pointed to the wrong (1st) title. It is okay now.

Other known bugs: If you import a file with multiple audio tracks where the audio is MP3, OGG/VORBIS...etc and these are NOT the first audio tracks, then they are not converted properly... I'll see how to fix this some day soon.

It would be nice to have the option to select charset in easySUP, 'cause it's a perfect tool for quick creation of subtitles e.g. for BD authoring, and this feature is still missing ;)
I'm not sure, if it uses tsMuxer as well, but I found out, that version 1.8.8 of tsMuxer supported charset change, but current 1.10.6 does NOT! Anyone has any idea why?

deank
8th December 2009, 15:30
No, easySUP does not use tsMuxeR. It uses avs2bdnxml, bdsup2sub and vsfilter. The charset is autoset to 'default' in vsfilter, but I may try to add an option... :)

* Fixed a bug, which broke HD-DVD encoding
* Added --weightb 0 when encoding
* Updated x264.exe to build 1369 (http://x264.fushizen.eu/files/1369_hrd/x264.exe)

Is it possible to split a long Title name onto 2 or more lines on the thumbnail menu?

deank
12th December 2009, 10:09
Thumbnail menu has title names in two rows.

In XMB you can use \n for new line in a title name, for example:

This is line one\nand this is line two

as a title name will produce

This is line one
and this is line two

Hi!

How could I make menus like this? Any tutorial?

http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/3973/xmbsm.jpg

Another question, What's the right size for a poster thumbnail (slide menu)?

Thanks.

deank
12th December 2009, 22:11
A poster image should be in 16:9 AR to be displayed without distortion.

About the menu - this is one-title-XMB-styled-menu with proper options set in "MENU" tab. Still, subtitles and audio selections are not available.

Actually I'm using the Carousel menu option: I just used the term "thumbnail" as a generic for the thumbnails shown on all the menus.

Is the \n available to use for all menu types or only XMB?

I'm quite liking the results with the Carousel menu, but I've noticed that with a Pioneer 51FD player, if the Chapter thumbnails are selected at any point, it doesn't seem possible to return to Title selection scrolling: it's locked into the original Title selection and its Chapter thumnails. This may be something to do with the player's resume function though.

Are there any options to change thumbnail highlighting when navigating the menu? I guess I'm used to the DVD style of highlighting a border around each icon when it is selected.

XMB style menu didn't suit me as the Title thumbnails interfere with a centred Heading that I like to put at the top of the main menu: I prefer a horizontal layout.

If I have videos that I want to author to a 50GB dual layer BD-R, can an m2ts file cross the layer break or must all files be split so that they fit completely into each layer?

Does multiAVCHD automatically handle any splitting or "cell" configuration requirements to correctly fit files to layers, or is this handled by imgburn?

Is there a guide somewhere that explains all the tips and tricks to authoring/burning to 50GB dual layer media?

@deank, is this a bug?

When converting MKV files with VobSub subtitles to AVCHD/Blu-ray, the subtitles are not kept on the resulting files, additionally the extracted .idx/sub files are in the folder of the original file (not on the temp folder) and are not deleted upon completion.

Don't be mad at me if it was already asked. If so, please let me know where it was discussed.

I'm very fond of (end) credits music of films in HD. I would like to make me a compilation.
As of today, I take m2ts as raw as they are.
Is there a way to get rid of the heavy video track. (be aware that my compilation include DTS-HD MASTER, Dolby TrueHD and sometimes DTS-HiRes all together in a same program) ?

If you need to create AVCHD/Blu-ray compilation off of these cut m2ts files you can use multiAVCHD.

1) Extract the audio tracks from m2ts files, using 'demux' in tsMuxeR (make sure to write down each track duration)
2) Start multiAVCHD and drag each audio track to it (or use [Add audio titles] button).

When processing .dtshd audio you may have to enter its duration.

If you don't want to use multiAVCHD, you can replace the video from your files with a black one... I'm creating one for you right now (1 hour black 1920x1080@23.976) and post the link.

Here is one hour black 1920x1080@23.976 (30kb RAR - 10MB .264). (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/black_BG_1920-1080-23.976.rar)

Hello,

1st excuse my english.

when I use multiavchd to convert a mkv into an AVCHD structure and that the mkv is in a different resolution of conventional 720 or 1080, after a while my pc turns off.

Thank you for your advice

@deank;
I have been following your program for several months, and finally decided to try it out. With one word...awesome!!
Wonderful program, well thought out, unbelievable capabilities and features. My hats off to you. :)
Very easy to use too.
Thank you for all your time and effort in creating such a brilliant software program. I am looking forward to using it more. :thanks:

Thanks for the kind words!

I know there are a lot of things to polish and add, but there is time for everything. In one week multiAVCHD will be one year old :)

HI!In one week multiAVCHD will be one year oldKudos and congratulations are certainly in order - It's been very impressive to watch multiAVCHD grow exponentially - and logically!'

Now, if it only had the capability to add chapterization and timesearch capability to the HD-DVDs it so wonderfully creates ;>}

I used speedfan to check. Everything seemed Ok. The pc turned off once more while it was encoding..

Great job on the program! I really wished i could have gotten chapters to work succesfully in hddvdmux. Unfortunately, the picture would always have a small several pixel glitch every time i put a chapters in with my software. The only thing that i could figure out what that it needed some "extra special" keyframe. Anyways, keep up the good work in 2010.

Hi! (again)

Now that you've returned to the Doom9 Forum after a six month hiatus, may I suggest that you share with "deank" whatever knowledge you have regarding chapterization and timesearch for HD-DVDs?

As you can see, "deank" has brought things a long way since your early under-appreciated efforts...

My code was based on the hd-dvd version of scenarist. However, i was never able to get chapters working in scenarist properly. I think i was using the 4.0 or 4.1 version. Does anyone know if chapters worked in the now defunct 4.5 version? Thanks.

Is it possible to change the button thumbnails size and location that they appear on the menu page, if either thumbnail menu or slide menu is selected?
For example, to have the selectable menu buttons scroll horizontally along the bottom of the custom menu inserted .jpg picture, at a selectable distance from the bottom of the menu screen?
I was able to change locations for these menu buttons while using the XMB style menu, but can't figure out how to have them scroll horizontal along the bottom of the screen. They scroll vertically.
It would be a nice feature to be able to easily customize the size and location of the menu buttons for the various menu styles while having a custom menu picture.
( if it doesn't already exist  )

All options there are based on integer values (seconds)... It was initially designed in frames, but before the public build update I changed it to seconds and it is hard to be reversed now.

I will see if I can do something about it.
Hi, anything new about that point ?:o;)

Thanks for the reply deank, this will be an excellent feature to add to an already very robust and creative program.
I am looking forward to this feature as well as testing/learning the other many features already available. :)

Merry X-mas to all of you and thank you for your support and ideas trough the whole year.

Today is the 1st birthday of multiAVCHD and to my surprise it attracted a lot of interest. I'm glad it turned out to be a tool a lot of people found useful.

Here is what it was 1 year ago:

Not that different now, but much more useful. A lot of things to come in the next few months, so stay tuned!

Thanks again for the support and donations and have a nice holiday week!

Congratulations deank on your 1 year release date of multiAVCHD. I have only just started to use and learn your program, and am a little disappointed in myself for waiting so long. :(
I wish you a happy holiday and new year.
I am looking forward to following your progress and am very interested in your intentions to improve this already great program. :)

Hi!

Is there a way to add either permanent (burned as part of the videostream) or (I really doubt) "forced" subtitles to an HD-DVD being created under multiAVCHD?

It's rather difficult to follow the outlandish SciFi "District 9" without them...

deank

multiAVCHD supports 'burning' external .SRT/.SUB/.ASS/.SSA/.SUP subtitles. For burning .sup/pgs subtitles SupTitle avisynth plugin is used.

doom9 page: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=148167

It may require NET2 and some runtime libraries, as described here: http://www.zachsaw.co.cc/?pg=suptitle_pgs_avisynth_plugin

multiAVCHD supports 'burning' external .SRTHow would this be accomplished in preparation for creating an HD-DVD?

deank
26th December 2009, 00:44
By using the drop-down menu in "TRANSCODE" window :)

1) Add the external subtitle file (in title properties)
2) Open "Transcode" and use the option to 'hard burn 1st subtitle track' either with outline or with opaque box.

Sorry to say, although it works perfectly with M2TS files, it doesn't appear to work when creating HD-DVDs - No error messages, but no visible burned in subtitles either...

The process of transcoding and adding hard-burned subtitles doesn't depend on the output format.

If you're using "START" -> "HD-DVD" without going to "TRANSCODE" window, then you have the option to choose hardburning of the subtitles, too.

Yes, as I said in slightly different words above ("No error messages, but no visible burned in subtitles either..."), the log indicated "Transcoding successful!" - but the created HD-DVD did not display the subtitles...

BTW - Is the email situation resolved?

Hi,
is it possible to copy an AVCHD (burned on dvd-r) ? Because I would like to be able to copy some titles of a compilation I have made.
I guess that it's not a big problem to copy it on my hard drive, but how to extract the titles ? Do I only have to copy the m2ts file, without any program, just by drag & drop ?
If yes, I guess that I can copy the m2ts files I need directly from the dvd.

I'm a newbie on this program, but I was able to copy/add the files I wanted from a Blu-Ray rip directly into MultiAVCHD by just clicking the Add BDMV option rather than add video, and all chapters and subtitles were added too, since it looks at the .mpls file for this. An AVCHD title, I would think, would behave the same way. Give it a try!

Few fixes in build 721+: (you may need to update manually with multiUPDATE.exe)

* Wrong detection of progressive sources as interlaced (bug introduced in builds 650+)
* Wrong detection of DVD sources as progressive (bug introduced in build 720/721)
