Samples used 29.970 frame rate, which means PAL Panasonic players have no problems with NTSC frame rates.

I'll post some other samples and then I'll enable the option in multiAVCHD.

If your players accept 1920x1080p @30fps (in sample#8) - it is a good sign - this is a combination of unsupported framerate for a supported resolution (according to AVCHD specifications).

I'll post next samples with fps 23.976 using MKV input.

@all: Sample seven (7) was a tsMuxeR sample with really slight modifications, which I just needed you to test - sorry. I didn't expect it to work - just a try :)

Nice, huh :)

I'm feeling the same way as I was 2 months ago when the custom menu started working FINALLY :)

I don't have a Panasonic SDHC player, but I can certainly say I'm more happy than you ;)

Well, I guess I should switch that option in the GUI. I have no idea if subtitles will work, but at least these two basic (most common) resolutions 1920x1080 & 1280x720 work.

Atreide
24th April 2009, 21:42
Well I don't know for others, but for me having just one file with no subtitles is the only thing I needed :)
This is really good !

I'll release a test build in later. It will however require full Setup download. I'll post back when I'm ready. It will be ver 2.6.

Dean, thanks again for your hard work - I've been waiting for the Panny SDHC feature since almost the start of the thread, and it's finally becoming a reality! :)

Re: the subtitles: would it be possible, if the Blu-ray player won't play the subtitles included the "standard" way, to have said subtitles directly "burned" in the video? ( if the answer is "yes but you have to do it yourself", fine! just let me know and I will try and get more info by myself)

thanks!!

I'll release a test build in 30mins. It will however require full Setup download. I'll post back when I'm ready. It will be ver 2.6.I guess the "holy grail" for us Panasonic (and maybe Sony) player users would be to have a basic "AVCHD on SD Card" application, with "drag-and-drop" functionality :)

deank
24th April 2009, 22:10
@SMD: Yes, that's an easy one... Let's see if next build will work for any of you. I'd like to see things getting up the easy way, too.

My US BD60 plays PAL AVCHD from DVD5, so it goes both ways at least for HD.

Amazing progress, deank! I'm looking forward to trying out the test build.

Panasonic BD60 (US v1.5) results

SDTEST_10:

Video and audio plays fine.

I don't have a Panasonic SDHC player...

I don't care - if you get this working I'm donating again anyways whether you'll no longer need a player to test is irrelavent, buy some new shoes or something else then :)

LOL

Testing clips 9 and 10 on my BD30, reporting back soon and very excited that you are this close and that we can see this feature integrated into multiAVCHD soon.

UPDATE: Both Clips work perfect on the Panasonic BD30 player. Success! Great work Dean.

Waiting for test build to give it a go with some MKVs of mine.

Dean - you are indeed a star!

Both tests 9 & 10 play in my BD35 (PAL) Firmware v1.4.

Can we assume that 1920x1080p@23.976 will work with AC3 6ch audio?

Many congratulations, can you share what your breakthrough was? Apart from your great skills of course ;)

Version 2.6 Build 540

Full-download is required (preferred) or multiAVCHD.dat update. Download links are in the first post.

Panasonic SDHC option is now enabled in Author tab.

This is an initial TEST version. Report any problems.

hmm, I have tried on a mkv file but it's not working, I must have done something wrong. Inside the AVCHD folder there is only a BDMV folder, none of the others; is that right ?

deank
25th April 2009, 10:43
Did you enable [x] Panasonic in Author and answered YES at the prompt?

Atreide
25th April 2009, 10:47
no...... will try again right away

deank
25th April 2009, 10:51
http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/multiavchd_p.jpg

Then add one file. Only [AVCHD for USB/SDHC/MS] button should be available. Menu options will be ignored and you should have

BDMV
AVCHDTN

folders inside your output AVCHD folder. Copy AVCHD to Private of your SDHC card.

Atreide
25th April 2009, 10:56
Now I did all this and it happened as described but when I insert the card in BD-50 I get again the usual picture menu and not the video one like in sample #10 for example.
Will make another try after formatting a gain the SD card.

deank
25th April 2009, 11:00
You may leave DCIM and MISC on your card and have

DCIM
MISC
PRIVATE
PRIVATE\AVCHD
PRIVATE\AVCHD\AVCHDTN
PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV

Also - execute multiUPDATE.exe before your next try.

Atreide
25th April 2009, 11:16
still not working.
I have ran multiUPDATE.exe and reprocessed my mkv file.
I have tried also sample #10 again and it's working so I have kept DCIM and MISC from sample 10 and replaced only the AVCHD folder by that from multiAVCHD output.
I get again thr picture menu; no video.

Can you try with 1920x1080 video?

For some reason I can't make sample#10 start in HDwriter and I remember that I was able to play it yesterday.

Are you testing on a TV or BD player?

Atreide
25th April 2009, 11:45
Tried sample 9 again and it's working still.

deank
25th April 2009, 11:46
I meant with your own video, not sample #9. I tested with 1920x1080 and it works. Make sure it has AC3 audio, not DTS.

You can try with smaller videos (use CUT END in muxer tab).

Atreide
25th April 2009, 11:48
er... I don't have such a video...

Can you update your whole multiAVCHD?

What version is your tsmuxer?

25th April 2009, 11:51
I have tsMuxerGUI 1.8.4
Will check for updates

deank
25th April 2009, 11:53
Oh, no! tsmuxer.exe in multiavchd\tools folder. It should be 1.9.9. You should see a note in the LOG tab when multiAVCHD starts. I'm uploading the fullsetup again.

***

Let's see if someone else can test the output... Please try different resolutions with AC3 audio.

Atreide
25th April 2009, 11:55
yes in log tab it is 1.9.9.

Hi Dean,

So far so good.... The main thing I've noticed however, is that a "PRIVATE" folder is not created.

Anyways, I can confirm the following sources (with 6Ch AC3 audio) work with my BD35 and PZ81B TV: -

AVC Main@L3.0 - 1920x1080 @ 25fps
AVC Main@L3.0 - 1440x1080 @ 25fps
AVC Main@L3.0 - 1440x1080 @ 25fps with 4:3 ARS
AVC Main@L3.0 - 1920x816 @ 25fps

Great work ;)

Greetings Dean.

How about testing some non-compliant 1920x1080 @60P video?

Many thanks and best regards.

@mariner: I can't test anything :) Waiting for other users to report.

@SMD: I will see if I can make multiAVCHD create PRIVATE folder. Did you have any luck with 1280x720?

@mariner: I can't test anything :) Waiting for other users to report.

I mean making 1920x1080@60P test samples for Panasonic SD card. You have already nailed down one non-compliant fornat, 1920x1080@30P, so lets see if 60P would work as well.

Many thanks and best regards.

Atreide

I think PRIVATE folder can simply be added manually in the target directory for multiAVCHD. I am going to redo everything from the start and try again...
Are there any specific options to change ? I have not touched anything, simply checked the box for Panasonic SDHC output in Author.
Could DCIM and MISC folders be the problem ?

Atreide
25th April 2009, 13:10
Unfortunately no....

Argh ! then it's a problem of video resolution ? But that was working with sample #10

Atreide

no luck here with 1280x720

deank
25th April 2009, 13:31
You may manually update with multiUPDATE.exe - there was a bug - resetting all options if SDHC option is enabled on startup.

I don't know what may cause sample#10 to work (1280x720) and other tries with same resolution to fail.

I have a real bad headache today and I'm not sure if I can do any tests.
