If it happens only with your own recordings, then you may want to check your DVR setbox settings.

vamsiklak

1) You don't need "Stricter AVCHD..." option with Blu-ray output. It is ignored anyway
2) Try to load you VOB file directly in multiAVCHD and transcode it to 1080p (not that I can see the reason in doing it).

If you're using other tools before multiAVCHD - I can't really help you with the problem.

Thankyou

Since it is ignored in the bluray i will leave it
Thankyou so much

Two new resize resolutions are added in "Transcode" window (also auto selected when loading non-compliant SD titles for transcoding):

720x360 (NTSC)
720x432 (PAL)

Both resolutions are required for WIDE SCREEN (film/cinema) videos (movie AR 2.35:1) when converting SD content (width <= 720 pixels).

Example:

Input video: 720x304, square pixel WS AR 2.35:1, PAL 25fps
Resized to: 720x432
Uncropped to: 720x576, anamorphic 16:9 (keeping 2.35:1 + black bars to fill up the 16:9 area)

or

Input video: 640x272, square pixel WS AR 2.35:1, NTSC 23.976fps
Resized to: 720x360
Uncropped to: 720x480, anamorphic 16:9 (keeping 2.35:1 + black bars to fill up the 16:9 area)

In other words, these resize options allow for WS sq. pixel AR to 16:9 anamorphic PAL/NTSC for Standard definition (SD) videos (width less or equal to 720 pixels). Both resolutions are added to uncropMKV, too.

Dean

p.s. Also fixed:

* Wrong GOP/keyint setting when transcoding while changing original framerate - proper keyint is now set to follow new framerate.
* "Preview" button kept appearing while there is no mux/transcode running - now stays hidden as it should be.
* Updated translations for German, Chinese Simp&Trad and Turkish languages

Hi deank,
I hope you could help me with this one:
I am using a Panasonic SD-5 for a year now and for lack of processing power I never got to edit the footage. Just recently I got a new macbook pro and iMovie is fine for my AVCHD needs. Unfortunately, some of my archived files are naked .MTS files (without the original folder structure) - iMovie cannot identify those files. Enters multiAVCHD - After I searched all over the web I found your wonderful app and it seems to do the magic of authoring the files back to their original format.
THE PROBLEM is that everything looks stretched somehow, more than 16:9 (everybody look fat...). I tried checking the "keep 16:9 aspect ration" but no good.
Any suggestions?

Thank you deank,
I uploaded one MTS file for you to check.
http://rapidshare.com/files/295169645/00021.MTS.html

Just to be clear - the file stays the same after the use of multiAVCHD, but somehow the .CPI files (or something else) is telling iMovie the wrong aspect ratio.

Please tell me, if you find the right work flow for me...
Thank you.

What output mode do you use with your file? I tried it and aspect ratio is correct (16:9).

Try to process your mts files with Panasonic SDHC, Playstation 3 or AVCHD output buttons (not the viera buttons).

Build 710:

[20/10/2009] build 710 - Automatic PAL->NTSC slowdown and NTSC->PAL speedup for Viera PAL/NTSC modes, eliminating the need of transcoding.

It should be now possible for Viera users to play NTSC content on PAL Vieras and PAL content on NTSC Vieras without re-encoding the video.

Available for MKV, MP4, M2TS, MTS, TS, TRP and H.264/AVC AVI files.

As a gesture to the NTSC part of the world, latest update of multiAVCHD will honor "TV system" setting in Author tab when user loads PAL (25.000fps) video, but authors for NTSC compatible device.

Video, audio and subtitles will be processed correctly to convert PAL content and get it into a compatible NTSC output.

Since it was already done for Viera TV output mode earlier today, it was a good idea to implement it for all other modes (either when transcoding is selected or not).

Most PAL equipment is not affected since it usually plays NTSC video without any problems, so this update affects only NTSC users, which somehow managed to get their hands on a PAL video.

Note: Viera output ignores "TV system" setting but depends on the output selection (the button you press: Viera (PAL) or Viera (NTSC)), but for all other modes NTSC users can get PAL content processed into NTSC.

Conversion is only available for PAL to NTSC for 25.000 fps and for NTSC to PAL for 23.976 and 24.000 fps. For other framerates Viera PAL users need to transcode and all NTSC users need to do it, too.

Build 711:

Fixed:
* PAL/NTSC speedup/slowdown was working only for the first audio track - now works for all audio tracks.
* [x] Auto transcode checkbox in Settings tab is now fixed - obviously never worked as it should :) (when unticked).

Added:
* PAL speedup option in Settings tab
* PAL and NTSC speedup/slowdown processing is now extended to cover all audio conversions (eac3to, ffmpeg, mencoder, faad...)

***

The new option (Apply PAL speedup) can be used when authoring for PAL TV System (set in Author tab) for video files with framerates 23.976 and 24.000. It should allow seamless conversion of NTSC sources to PAL standard for all output modes (excl HD-DVD).

A side effect of using the option will be noticed by PAL Playstation 3 users, when processing non-compliant video files (height less than 584 pixels).

Usually with such video files Playstation 3 will switch to 480p resolution, but with the speedup option it will now switch to 576p, which is a bit better. :)

Both things are related to a problem with directshow/avisynth. You may try to reinstall avisynth and try again.

Dean,

Is there a way to retain the capitalization when "Use ImgBurn with DVD/BD-R output"? For example, if I type Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, it comes up in ImgBurn as transformers 2: revenge of the fallen.

Not a big deal at all just thought I would point it out. Thanks.

Do you mean - when you create an image (.iso) and the file gets lowercased?

Build 711:

A side effect of using the option will be noticed by PAL Playstation 3 users, when processing non-compliant video files (height less than 584 pixels).

Usually with such video files Playstation 3 will switch to 480p resolution, but with the speedup option it will now switch to 576p, which is a bit better. :)

Hi Dean, I am new to this forum.

I got a question: Will MultiAVCHD get more menu features?
something like catogories, or something like subfolders, because when i have 50 videos on 1 external harddrive, browsing through the films takes quite some time.

Thank you.

The difference between join/split mode and normal mode and the meaning of [f] [m] [p] [d] on compilation properties.

Thanks, Dan

Yes. Click [x] Create top menu and don't select any menu type. You will get the Classic list menu with 14 titles per page.

Dean, just a silly question:
The difference between join/split mode and normal mode and the meaning of [f] [m] [p] [d] on compilation properties.

It was introduced in build 600. Here is more information. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1286734#post1286734)

The main difference is when importing a playlist (be it multiAVCHD [m] or external (camcoder AVCHD or Blu-ray) [p]). By default multiAVCHD will not touch the original m2ts contents, which makes it impossible for the user to redefine the chapters, add/remove audio/subtitles, etc.

So switching a playlist to join/split mode (or in other words - FULL PROCESSING MODE) allows the user to change any of the streams of the imported titles/playlists. Such [m] and [p] playlists are marked as [f] when selected for full-mode processing.

It also allows to import a 30GB single m2ts title by its playlist, set it for full processing and get it split at 4MiB for USB/SDHC compatibility (PS3, Panasonic SDHC/Viera) - so this is the SPLIT thing... Next, user can load a playlist/title which contains multiple m2ts files and join them in one m2ts - the JOIN part.

Hello Dean,

I always have the same problem. After some successful compilation (1 or 2), I obtain systematically the same error message when I try to make a compilation :" (RT) failure to write in file (C:\Program files\multiAVCHD\cleannow.cmd) (files access denied)-Line 4514"

I can make a mistake, but I think of having this problem since the last versions since updates install with an installer.

Follow your recommendation (As you indicated it to another guy) I inhibited the Kaspersky protection but unfortunately without profit. Always the same message.

Thank you in advance for your help ... if it is possible ...

Cordially.

Update/installer has nothing to do with this error. It is a program in your system which denies multiAVCHD access to its own folder (for creating executable scripts .cmd).

I'm having the same problem here.

Hello

I seem to have a bit of trouble with the arguments to m264.exe. I'm running multiAVCHD via wine in SUSE 11.1
My machine is a dual Intel Xeon E5520 and the "--threads auto" parameter sent to m264.exe cuases it to produce zero length files.

From analysis of running processes I can find the command line:-
C:\multiAVCHD\tools\mx264.exe --bitrate 15000 --keyint 25 --min-keyint 1 --ref 2 --mixed-refs --bframes 1 --weightb --subme 5 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --ipratio 1.4 --pbratio 1.3 --vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 30000 --qcomp 0.3 --merange 14 --threads auto --thread-input --no-psnr --no-ssim --mvrange 511 --aud --nal-hrd --sar 1:1 --output C:\windows\temp\_multiTMP\20091024-175016-xmenupage001N.264 C:\windows\temp\_multiTMP\20091024-175016-xmenupage001N.avs

But if I manually run the this command, it works:-
C:\multiAVCHD\tools\mx264.exe --bitrate 15000 --keyint 25 --min-keyint 1 --ref 2 --mixed-refs --bframes 1 --weightb --subme 5 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --ipratio 1.4 --pbratio 1.3 --vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 30000 --qcomp 0.3 --merange 14 --threads 8 --thread-input --no-psnr --no-ssim --mvrange 511 --aud --nal-hrd --sar 1:1 --output C:\windows\temp\_multiTMP\20091024-175016-xmenupage001N.264 C:\windows\temp\_multiTMP\20091024-175016-xmenupage001N.avs

I changed "--threads auto" to "--threads 8"

Is there any way I can change the default parameters for m264.exe? Could there be an option for threads in the settings tab? (e.g. enter 1-16 or auto)

This is brilliant software by the way! I never thought I'd be able to create blu-rays with menus in Linux! :)

I'll add an option in the next update :)

Glad to know it works under linux, too... so we have Mac (crossover), Linux (wine) and Windows :)

Build 712:

Added 2 new options:

[x] Downmix to stereo for Viera
Threads setting for x264 [auto|1|2|4|8]

Thanks for this! :)

But the new option doesn't seem to affect the mx264.exe command line. It's still saying "--threads auto".

Also, every time build 712 runs it says there is a newer version (712+) but that won't seem to install. It says it's downloaded but when it restarts it asks the same question about 712+.

Just start multiUPDATE.exe to manually update to the new version and give it a try. Let me know if it works.

or manually download the .exe from http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/multiavchd.exe

I think I tried that a few minutes ago but it works now :)

I've just created a test project and it looks like it's working. I saw non empty .264 files in the temp directory.
I can't get to the PS3 for a few hours to test it though.
By the way, the --threads argument is in the list twice. First as "--threads auto" and second as "--threads 8" (obviously, the first instance is ignored by mx264.exe).

Also, it might be helpful if the output directory for the jpegs from mplayer wasn't set to be at the root of the disk i.e. "/.multiTH". I don't run wine apps as the super user (obviously) so I wouldn't have permission to write there. I had to make a symbolic link from /.multiTH to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/temp/_multiTMP so that the thumbnails were created and found.

Well the problem with mplayer is that it doesn't accept hard-paths and it's giving me a lot of headache... it will only accept relative path, so that's why I implemented it the way it is.

OK. Could there be a temp directory directly under the installation?

C:\multiAVCHD\temp ?

Presumably you call mplayer.exe from the tools directory. Wouldn't this work:-
mplayer.exe -ss 196 -frames 5 -ao null -fps 60 -vo jpeg:quality=100:outdir=..\temp

I have very little experience programming in Windows so if I'm completely wrong, I won't be surprised :)

Whatever, I'm just happy that I've managed to get it running - thanks again for your great work! :)

I just had a look around and it seems someone found a solution to the outdir path problem in windows:-

http://groups.google.com/group/mplayer_users/browse_thread/thread/4b8527d90bcbfb8f/43570d939abaff11

Looks like it's a matter of double quoting...
-vo jpeg:outdir="'c:\some\directory'"

What do you think?
------
Hmmmm, just tried that in wine and it doesn't work at all :(
Might be my shell interfering with the quotes....

DeanK,

Concerning the error message obtained during the starting up of a compilation ((RT) failure to write in file (C:\Program files\multiAVCHD\cleannow.cmd) (files access denied)-Line 4514") and after very numerous tries, my first conclusions are the following ones:

1- I began to have this error message at the same time as I migrated of the version V11 to V14 of Pinnacle Studio.
2- The error message appears when I use files m2ts realized by Pinnacle studio V14 (disk AVCHD).
3- Apparently I have no error message when I use files m2ts resulting from Pinnacle version V11 or NeroVision or from MTS of my camescope.

If I use the function " Transcode " of multiAVCHD, by using the parameters " Blu-ray / AVCHD compliant " with Ref. Frame=2 B-frames=2, on the files create by Pinnacle Studio V14 I can make compilation without having of error message ... Eureka

By hoping that my experiment can benefit to those who met the same problem.

For Soneca please : Do you use files m2ts resulting from the version V14 of Pinnacle Studio?

Quite clear, thanks :)

Other topic. With many questions.
Scenario: making an audio-bd as depicted here (http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=124)
Actually I've a double live cd (Delicate Sound of Thunder, legitimately purchased, worth saying), ripped with two .cue and .wav files. 4 files in all.
Questions:
1)the tutorial mentions 48khz/16bit: what would it be the limit for multiAVCHD itself and for AVCHD/BD respectively in a 5.1 channel environment? I.e.: 48/24 or what else?

2)the tutorial mentions only one .cue and .wav: would it be feasible to implement two .cue and two .wav using same approach? I.e.: two (or more) titles

3)tsMuxer has the well know 4GB limit. If it would be possible to implement lets say a 5.1 96/24 .wav asset under a BD (not AVCHD) structure, the 4GB limit would be easily reached and overtaken. How to deal with such an issue?

4)I somehow expected (maybe by mistake) to have track name and duration hardcoded somewhere into the picture. This wasn't. Should I expect this or not?

Aside from this I experienced a strange thing: I made a video project with classic menu and many titles and put it on a Sony BD-RE 50 with ImgBurn, carefully erased with ImgBurn before that. The compilation is read smoothly on my PC BD player with Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre 3. Not the same with my Panasonic BD60 standalone (latest firmware) (disc not supported error). Where is it the clue?

Thanks in advance, Dan:thanks:

Sorry, do not speak English...:p

No, I used a lot but today I no longer use.

I have tried everything, exclusion rules, trusted applications...and if I uninstall Kaspersky(2010) or go back to version 7, everything works fine.

Im probably way off beam but just worth a try, have you tried switching off Windows UAC User Account Control in Windows Security Center. It can stop files being written to and is worth a try.

The Limits are (BLU-RAY COMPLIANCE):
(1)48kHz/16bit is the minimal requirement set by blu-ray standard. You need to prepare 48kHz/16bit beforehand.
(2)wav file cannot be larger than 4GB (limited by Microsoft System, not tsmuxer). A 5.1 wav might be converted to 6 mono wav in order to work around the limit for storing in your HDD. You must down-convert it into compressed format in order to bypass the limit (compressed formats can be lossless such as flac (not blu-ray compliant), or dts-hd master; lossy such as dts, ac3, but they are blu-ray compliant). DTS-HD MA is commercially available (very expensive) while Dolby TrueHD is not.

Multiavchd easily supports 24/96 files - I recently made 2 AVCHD discs - each over 4 GB using DTS-MA to encode..

You can add as many as 252 audio titles. You can add multiple .cue/.m2u/.wpl (only by DRAG&DROP) and multiple audio files.

4)I somehow expected (maybe by mistake) to have track name and duration hardcoded somewhere into the picture. This wasn't. Should I expect this or not?

Track/Title names are shown as SUBTITLES or/and encoded in the Video unless you use "black background" and "do not show title name and duration" options in Author tab.

Did you create a "Blu-ray" output with multiAVCHD? If you did so, then the problem is with the recording process/media.

. Not the same with my Panasonic BD60 standalone (latest firmware) (disc not supported error).

Panasonic can be fussy about media. On my Panasonic BD30, I've seen the "disc not supported" error with Memorex BD-R while the same files burned to a Memorex BD-RE would play (this was not a multiAVCHD creation).

Great tool! But I don't understand the following:

1) Why does it split the files? I am trying to author I ps3 compliant bluray disc with a menu. There's no need for splitting?
2) Since there is a bug in tsmuxer (audio get out of sync sometimes when 2fastforwarding"), I have read that it is better to use this program for muxxing. Is that true? Does multiAVCHD do a better job in muxing files? And: can I put in the demuxed / edited files in multiAVCHD and mux them together?

Thank you!

awesome program!!!

However, I have 2 blu ray rips here...both can fit on bd-r

first rip is h264
second is mpeg II

Both play fine on PC and everywhere else.

When I run multiAVCHD on it to make a blu ray of both movies and menu, the h264 video plays fine on powerDVD, but the mpeg one is just garbage on the sreen (audio is ok). Why would this be? again the separate ones play perfectly. Just want to be sure before I burn...perhaps you cannot have h264 and mpegII (yes the mpeg is high def) in same titleset?

I suppose I could change the mpeg II one to x264

Hi!Why does it split the files?Change the default setting from 3999 to 9999 to eliminate the splitting
