Build 257:

If [x] Force black fill for NC MKVs (PS3) is checked, then offset for subtitles will be calculated properly against full resolution height (1080 or 720) and subtitles will show in the black bar area.

Bugfix for using "Font props for 720/1080p mkv coversions". Width is now used to determine which settings are used. If width<1440 - 720p settings are used. If width>=1440 - 1080p settings are used.

@vamsiklak: What do you mean 'take the screen'?

Quick update for build 258:

* Added support for MPEG2 files
* Added option to use eac3to (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125966) when needed

If you import MPEG2 files into your compilation and their sound tracks are not AVCHD compliant (mpg audio), eac3to will be used to convert them to AC3. Also if input m2ts/ts files have mp2/mp3 audio - it will be converted to AC3 for compatibility with AVCHD standard.

If you're planning to use eac3to - download it and extract it to a folder, then check [x] Use eac3to when needed checkbox in Settings and locate eac3to.exe.

Dean

---

build 260:

multiAVCHD will also try to convert MP2/MP3 audio in MKV files to AC3. It didn't quite work with my files. mkvextract may be needed to extract mp2/mp3 audio and then convert it with eac3to. (so I added it in 261. mkvextract will be used)

Changes in builds 250-260 should improve compatibility with AVCHD/BD standard. Also the cases you have no errors in log, but titles/m2ts files missing should be far less now.

These cases appeared to me, when input files have audio, which is not compliant with avchd and tsmuxer won't mux them - thus they miss in multiAVCHD compilation.

I encountered yesterday the issue with mkv containing non compliant ac3 audio. Most of the time, it's an ac3 track that starts with 2 channels then quickly changes (a few ms after) to 5.1.
The workaround is to extract the audio (mkvinfo to locate the track id of audio, mkvextract to extract it) and to cut the initial part which is not compliant with DelayCut.
A little bit more about this here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1231795&highlight=delaycut#post1231795).

Then you can remux the audio into the mkv (or add it to tsMuxer, depending on what you're trying to do).

And I discovered you cannot read.

You are right, I should have read the complete thread first. It clarifies some of my questions, sorry for that.

About the issue with 720*576 / 4:3 videos which are displayed as 16:9: In this thread I only found some discussion about 16:9 movies displayed in 4:3. So that is the opposite of what I need to display the videos correctly.

Or maybe I'm still missing some information?! :o

The simple and quick way of doing it is to use your TV remote control and change the aspect ratio to 4:3. :) This is what I do.

I had no chance to test with such resolutions until today, so if I find something I'll let everyone know.

That's the problem: My projector does not allow to change the AR if the source is connected using HDMI... :-(

hey deank,

first of all thank you very much for developing such a great programm for the community.

i m getting a problem creating a multiavchd . how i start.....

i m adding 3 avchd folder/3 different movies(they all work fine in pdvd8 playing them seperatly) ---then---then i start creating a multiAVCHD.

The menu works pretty fine.not problems with that.

But somehow the prog messes up the playlists. First and third movie start fine but second movie starts somewhere in the middle of it .
i analysed the playlist in editor and the order was messed up. it started with 00013.mts,00014.mts,00015.mts and then goes on with 00007.mts(beginning of movie 2) etc.

This happened now twice and i cant figure out why..... may be you have a clue.... would appreciate it

thanks in advance

I must say than Dean is a genie, nothing else!
Especially with last modification.

I have tried the last version - build 263 - on x.264 SD & HD clips, with AC3 and mpeg sound track, burned on a BR or a DVD disc. Everything goes smooth! Mpeg-audio is transcoded on the fly to AC3, which is without any problem put in a normal BR-folder and read without problems on the computer or on my Sony BDP-S350 player.
No need to say that I have had no other problems with standard x.264 or mkv files since something like buld 200.

The only problem that bothered me was the custom menu. Al least, that's it!
With the options 'Create top menu, Static menu, Custom menu and Skip top menu playback' checked, I have obtained what I wanted - one clickable title corresponding to the file name. There is a small blue arrow on the left, which I can move up and done, but it's not really a problem:thanks:.

Once again, Dean, many many thanx to you - and good luck in the program perfectioning!

deank
25th January 2009, 23:21
As I said already:

Those of you who have problems with "[x] Custom menu" - just don't check it.

Use:

[x] Create top menu
[x] Static menu
[x] Sequental title playback

This should work for all of you.

Custom menu is still in development. I hope I will have some progress this week.

@xeniste: There is no sense in creating custom menu and skipping it :) That way you loose time and space on media. Just use the 'plain-old-static-menu' :) with titles named "Title #1"..."Title#5"...

Not really a problem ... to me it looks like one of the goals of the tool : create a menu that can get you to see the title you select ... and the arrow actually shows you your selection ... but maybe I missed something along the way.

@jfcarbel: I changed the interface a bit. You need to check [x] Static menu and [x] Custom menu to have custom title names in menu pages. Does it work for you?

Nope, I still do not see a checkbox for "See actual Title names" on authoring tab and both those items are checked. I am now updated to build 265.

I read in an earlier post that a checkbox called "See actual Title names" would appear. Are you instead saying that only Static menu and Custom menu need to be checked and it will automatically work with using the filenames for titles?

@PassThePeas: The idea for showing real title names appeared on the way. It was never really the main purpose nor goal. Until I get it fixed - just don't use [x] Custom menu. As I earlier said: you will have the navigational arrow and titles shown as "Title#1".."Title#20" if you don't use it.

@jfcarbel: I can't rephrase it - I'll just repeat:

At some point I changed some of the GUI texts. Please read the TUTORIAL - the link is in my signature - it is all explained there.

There is no "[x] See actual title names" - it is replaced by [x] Custom menu chekbox.

Yes, both these [x] Custom menu and [x] Static menu should create titles with filenames used.

Check if you've selected your TV system PAL/NTSC in the drop-down list on the same tab:

Quick note for build 266:

[x] Force subtitle track #1 - option in tsMuxer tab.

If you check it - subtitles will be on when you play your titles

Also, multiAVCHD now generates 2 files inside the output folder:

details.txt - this way AVCHDManager (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143920)will see what files you used for your compilation. "*" is added in front of the name to distinguish multiAVCHD generated folders

multiAVCHD.txt - A plain text file with all filenames used in the compilation.

A little update on the "first second ok, then screen goes black" custom menu issue.

So far I did the tests directly on the PC with TMT. I decided to burn the folders to a BD-RE so I could give it a try on the Sony BDP-S350, and ... (sorry for Cerpintine) it worked just fine :D.
Playing the disc with PDVD is fine too ....

@Cerpintine : I recently did an update of the Sony firmware (now version is 07.4.010). I don't know is this can be related .... PM if you want to talk about this. Last thing, my SAP is PAL, not NTSC.

Yeah I actually was considering updating the player's firmware, but the latest (010) doesn't seem to address anything like this. I do currently have 07.1.007, so perhaps something was addressed in between them two. Dean says it's still a work in progress though :) I may give it a shot.

Quick note on build 267:

I found a bug in previous builds:

If importing MTS/M2TS/MPG files with multiple audio tracks - multiAVCHD won't include ANY audio in the output compilation.

It is fixed now.

Also - on the bright side:

Playstation3 owners know, that they cannot play VC-1 videos directly from the XMB. I was playing with such files this morning when I discovered the 'no-audio-bug'.

Well now they can play VC-1. Playstation3 is a funny piece of hardware. :)

If anyone can test with a VC-1 encoded BD disk - just feed multiAVCHD with the movie .m2ts.
Set split at 3999mib and copy the output on external USB and you'll be able to watch your 20-30GB backups without burning a BD disk.

I will later add 'subtitle support' for ts/m2ts/mpg containing subtitle streams and multiple audio tracks.

The subtitle language tag for srt files is still in the to do list deank?

deank
27th January 2009, 15:28
No. There is no way to know what language a SRT file is and I don't plan to make multiAVCHD recognize MovieName.eng.srt where 'eng' is the 3 letter language abbreviation. It will only cause problems.

Build 268:

Now subtitles and multiple audio tracks in MTS/TS/M2TS/MPEG fiels are supported.

---

I will try to make "AVCHD split" option to work. The split value will be used if your OUTPUT exceeds the split value.

For example:
- you process one 8GiB file... the result will be 2 folders to write to 2xDVD5 discs.
- you process one 22GiB file... the result - 5 folders for 5xDVD5 or 3 folders for 3xDVD9 discs.

Dean Is it possible to add files from a pre existing avchd folder and add it with new files? great progress btw wish i had ur brains

deank
27th January 2009, 18:36
Yes. multiAVCHD marks index.bdm so later when I add this option it will recognise its own 'creations'.

index.bdm* is marked with current version and build. I will try to make it possible to:

1) Select RECEIVER AVCHD folder (first in media tab)
2) Select new files to add (at position 2..40) in media tab.

If first AVCHD folder is marked by multiAVCHD and a checkbox is checked (somewhere in authoring :) ) it will incorporate new media files (positions 2..40) into the first AVCHD folder.

Be advised that this cannot be reversed.

deank

If subtitles in MKV are marked with language ID - it is used.

I decided to try to add this .LID.srt option... lid = language id.

Have in mind that not all languages are being displayed. For example, I had no success on making my player show "Bulgarian" for subtitles, even it is in Blu_ray setup in PS3.

I did this already.

Nero Showtime will show Language IDs properly, but Playstation will show just "Other". It shows "English" only with the "eng" tagged subtitles in MKV.

I tried with French (fre), English (eng), Bulgarian (bul) and only English ones are shown as such.

Playlist files and mts files seems ok, but it doesn't show. I'll do some tests later.

p.s. No need to go thru multiAVCHD. Try tsMuxer and you will see non 'eng'-tagged subs will show as "Other".

Today I was playing with some m2ts files with 10 subtitles and they showed language IDs. I think subtitles need to be PGS, not UTF8 (srt). Let me test some more.

Hi Dean,

Now I can stop sending you requests on your personal mail box.
I'm the French guy who's tried so many times burning multiBR with custom menus and it is true that I'm looking forward to seing feature completed since I tried to create backgrounds equal to the occasion.

As you asked me compilation without using the custom menu option still works great.

Dude you're the fucking man! I was trying to catch up on season 3 of Dexter and out of the first four eps, three of these I get an error in tsMuxer ("Some tracks not recognized, ...") and multiAVCHD just skips over them. At the very best I got video and no sound. That works like a charm :D At first I thought the process was just a big headache, but it's just a bit tedious. Perfect timing posting that, thanks. Great info for this thread.

Ultimately I would like to fix the original mkv, but I guess that's for another time and another thread.

Thought about this too .... but there's apparently no way to specify a delay for an audio track in an mkv file ... so I guess you need to create a new ac3 audio track with "blank" as a start for the right timing ..... didn't go further this way. And right ... maybe in another thread ;)

Hi Dean,

sorry if bothering you again, but for the last few builds, last tested 271, multiAVCHD ignores files (CLPI, M2TS and MPLS transfer after tsMuxering), which used to be acceptable and processed fine. Please find attached log file.

IMHO it would be very nice if already Media folder could reject (with explanaition) not usable NC files.

I think I found what could be wrong.

The problem could manifest itself if a slower computer is used to run multiAVCHD.exe

Can you update to build 274 and try again with these two files?

Hi Dean,

thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I think, the problem was in badly split test sample. tsMuxer finished with the error unnoticed by multiAVCHD log: "Matroska parser: read error at pos 665553987". Nevertheless tsMuxer produced the m2ts file but not the clpi and mpls.

Would be possible to catch tsMuxer`s error messages and quote them in your log?

tsMuxer meta file for problematic file:
MUXOPT --no-pcr-on-video-pid --new-audio-pes --vbr --vbv-len=500
V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC, "F:\Video\BD5\NSt.mkv", insertSEI, contSPS, track=1, lang=und
A_AC3, "F:\Video\BD5\NSt.mkv", track=2, lang=rus
A_AC3, "F:\Video\BD5\NSt.mkv", track=3, lang=eng

No, I can't get the output of tsmuxer :(

I did some changes and multiAVCHD should say something in the log.

sorry for the re-post:

"Hi Dean,

thanks! "

I should ask a moderator to get involved with your posts.

No, still no arrow when using custom menu. I said that I'm working on it.

nope! It is very same log also with build 274.

Could you maybe test the presence of expected tsMuxer output files and if not there, trigger the error in the log file and abort the further execution ?

Please try again... There should be something colored in RED.

Are there any clpi/mpls files inside the temp folder?

Only warnings was the same ones as before regarding AVCHD compliancy.

In temp folder are only present clpi/mpts of the first unproblematic file (tdk).
