Of course

multiAVCHD will handle the avisynth script as is (unless it needs un-cropping or if you apply sharpen/framerate-change). It will treat it as regular video file and during encoding will use compliant x264 parameters to achieve compliance.

Same with me here, no motion chapters at all yet! With > 10 chapters, doesn't works! I'm with Win7 64.

It tried it - did not work with 10 and 9 Chapters - failed. But debugging it seemed to work a little bit: The avs played some seconds with motion chapters.

How do I now figure out what the error actually is? There's no error message shown, just that the encoding and muxing failed. So please, Deank, can you help me?

deank
19th June 2010, 21:28
No, I can't.

The best thing I could do was to install Win7 on a brand new average PC and try it. It worked. 12 motion chapters require about 1.6GB of free (non segmented) physical memory but I got it working at last.

If it fails - the error is usually with avisynth or/and x264 reporting "RUNNING OUT OF MEMORY".

I shared that I was surprised that my laptop with 2GB RAM dealed with the motion chapters and 3GB desktop win7 broke with error during encoding.

The things I suggest is to increase virtual memory (swap file) for your PC and use the version of avisynth from the 1st post.

There is really nothing more I can do at the moment (unless I find another PC to do a clean install).

But that is my problem: There's no error reported! So how am I supposed to know, why it fails? Or am I overlooking something?

I use the avisynth version you suggested. Ok, I will try to increase the virtual memory. At the Moment it is at 6134MB. Any suggestions of how much I should increase? Thanks!

OK.

I'll get back to you when I have some more results.

Thanks

Hi Dean !

Well, what can I say - I selected roughly 22GiB of material and let MultiAVCHD run its course, and bingo, worked like a charm.

Burned the result onto a BD-R ( with room to spare ) @ 2x speed, and voilá, it's done.

Great stuff !!!!!

Now I just need to get into making the menu look different .....

Cheers

PS : I've dabbled into the properties of the individual files, and let MultiAVCHD create automatic chapters, but when I leave, they disappear ?! I klicked a SAVE button, but it asked me to save a file, and I don't know how to incorporate that into my project later. Do I have to do that for every clip ? Is there a general button to simply create X number of chapters for each file, or create a chapter every X minutes for all the files in my project ?

Yes, it uses a plugin for AviSynth, which decodes the right-eye. The links/screenshot above are for full 3D to 3D-anaglyph (red/cyan) conversion.

Hello all. I just got a new blu-ray burner and am trying to burn my mts files from my Canon HF200 to a bluray disc for the first time. I have been successful numerous times in creating an AVCHD DVD, but have been unable to do so with a bluray. My attempt earlier today failed. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
After clickng start, should I still be selecting AVCHD output and just burning to bluray instead of DVD, or should I be selecting bluray output now (that is what I selected with my earlier failed attempt). Thanks for any help or advice!

If AVCHD relaxed worked for you - use it.

What is the player that failed?

What burning program did you use?

Thanks for the quick reply. I used imgburn for the burn. The player is a samsung bdp2500. When I insert the disc it acts like it is loading the disc, and I get the "menu" message on the display of the Samsung, but it never goes past that. Just continues to act as if it is trying to load the menu. Now that I thought about it, I will go try it on the ps3.
I have yet to test the avchd output and burn to bluray.

Update: after playing around with the disc from earlier, I was able to get it to play, it just won't show the top menu ever. All I get is a black screen. I had tried to author it with a slide menu. This disc does include 50+ mts files.
After further messing around I was able to get the thumbnail menu to display. It will just never display the top menu and the disc always loads to a black screen.

Edit: that was all with the ps3. Still unable to get it to do anything on the samsung.

BD-RB's should be okay. multiAVCHD recommends these:

http://multiforum.deanbg.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17

On that page there are the following two links:

multiAVCHD:
*** http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/download/

multiAVCHD DAT file only:
*** http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/datupdate/

Both report to a file with exactly the same filename. Why the same filename and what is the difference?

You really don't have much of a choice and you can't get the same clarity after the conversion. The only option is 23.976 (pull-down will be applied afterwards). Try it and see the result for yourself.

480p23.976? Uggh! The best conversion for 1080p60 (59.94) is 480i29.97. And that would be accomplished by taking 1/2 the source frame to make the first field and then taking 1/2 the source of the next frame (other set of lines) to create the other field.

You keep the 59.94 Hz motion, but at reduced vertical resolution, a result of going to 480 from 1080 and 240 lines per field.

There has to be an AVIsynth script/function to accomplish that.

One thing is for sure, you are right in that the DVD version of the 1080p60 source is going to look like crap, compared to the original.

Even if converted to Blu-ray, 1080p60 is not in the spec. The closest is 1080i29.97 (59.94 fields/sec). I've no idea if some Blu-ray players will play 1080p60 anyway.

AFAIK [could be wrong] playback of HD DTS on/in a video DVD would really depend on your player -- I've never seen it on a DVD, but it possible some player **might** play it.

Don't expect any DVD player to handle HD-DTS, period. Not in the spec. Need to have AC3, or PCM, audio track on a DVD.

A DVD player can't even pass the HD-DTS through the optical link as the bitrate is too high. Only normal AC3 and DTS can be passed through the optical link to an amp.

Many posts back (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1406716&postcount=5809) a nice set of instructions were provided for installation. Since I followed the other set of instructions, I uninstalled ffdshow and Haali. No need to uninstall avisynth.

In any event, the Haali version shown is 1.9.42.1 and the version I have is 1.10.175.0, resulting in a different set of options. I'm assuming that you are after the MPEG-PS getting set.

Is the latest Haali good enough, or must the older version be used?

The ffdshow I installed is also the latest beta. Good enough, or must we use the version you have linked?

Dean,
Seems you've fixed something, because now MAVCHD will create a project using a video file that my system can't playback! (MPC says "can't reneder file"). What's strange, is that I was troubleshooting things and I noticed that MAVCHD was running my file through tsmuxer (don't know why), but the output was playable on my PC, but the source wasn't. The only difference I can tell has to do with the audio delay in the source was -140ms and in the output was 0. Here is the mediainfo from the source (won't play on PC - "can't render file") and the mediainfo from the output after MAVCHD created the project (I'll include the log file to). Why is MAVCHD running the file through tsmuxer?

MEDIAINFO of SOURCE (hp_nowork_mediainfo.txt)
MEDIAINFO of OUTPUT (hp_nowork_fixed_mediainfo.txt)

Nice work - although I'm 100% against any and all support for anaglyph 3D. Now that we've finally managed to come up with a (much) better 3D implementation, the last thing we should do is go back to anaglyph crap. You know?

Yes, but since I got the latest 50" Neo PDP plasma from Panasonic just a week before they introduced the 3D sets I doubt that I'll get a 3D set in the next 12-15 months, so I'll use anaglyph. Sad, really, but...

During playlist import, if multiAVCHD detects 3D streams it will report in the log:

And if you decide to transcode the title, you'll get an option in [TRANSCODE]: [Create 3D anaglyph]

and during transcode you'll see some info about processing the streams...

Just a quick update...

Some changes were required to get the anaglyph encoding working for SD-DVD with HCenc.

So it is now possible to convert 3D titles to SD-DVD, too (using only HCenc 1 pass or 2 pass). It won't work with QuEnc or lavc for the moment.

dean, if you don't know Pantarheon 3D AviSynth Toolbox is here a link: http://www.pantarheon.org/AviSynth3DToolbox/

It doesn't. The slow process is generated by the mvc decoder. Has nothing to do with the avisynth.

This toolbox provides simple ways to create anaglyph videos from LEFT + RIGHT separate video sources.

The problem (as crl2007 stated) is not with creating the final image, but with decoding the supplementary information for the right eye with the plugin H264Stereo... It slows things down.

multiAVCHD uses its own method of using the right-eye information to create the depth RED channel. I experimented a lot with anaglyph and created some 3D anaglyph images myself (using dual camera shots).

Unless the development of this avisynth plug-in evolves into a faster one, the conversion will be limited to 1-5 frames per second.

I downloaded and installed Build 757 (NOT just the .DAT file) and dragged and dropped a 2D 10 second long 1080p file on to it (Tried both .M2TS and .MPLS).

Tried both, clicking on file to get to "Transcode" page and clicking on "Transcode" to get to "Transcode" page.

In both cases, "Create 3D anaglyph" was greyed out.

Any thoughts?

(Did I misunderstand? Can this ONLY be used to convert from "New" 3D to anaglyph?)

Yes, that was the idea with the option in multiAVCHD - to allow people (like me) who don't have 3D TV set to play the upcoming 3D Blu-ray titles.

As far as I know there is only one (Cloudy...with meatballs 3D) + the panasonic 3d demo disc (and may be Monsters vs. Aliens).

To save you the time for conversion/encoding I'm uploading the anaglyph versions of the 4 main features from the DEMO disc:

http://www.blu-ray.com/images/news/p1030108.jpg

http://www.blu-ray.com/images/news/p1030110.jpg

The 3D HDTV and the 3D Blu-ray player look good on paper (and in person), but how do they fare when the lights go down and the movie starts up? No doubt many have, by now, sampled what 3D is all about on the Best Buy showroom floor, and while a decent enough presentation, there's nothing quite like viewing in a more controlled environment, taking the time to learn the controls, tweak the components, and enjoy the 3D demo disc and a larger sampling of 2D Blu-ray materials at one's own leisure. The included 3D sample disc features four primary "High Quality Picture Contents" presented in 1080p Full HD 3D -- Funny Furry Friends; Rome, The Eternal City; Grand Canyon; and the Astro Boy trailer -- and seven additional "Fun Contents" clips: Drag Racing, Motocross, Canadian Nature, Mexico City, Coral Wonderland, Mexico's Mariachi, and Game, the last being a very basic and very short demonstration of a 3D racing game with crude graphics but a spectacular dimensional feel. Each clip is painfully short, lasting between about 90 seconds and three minutes in length.

Great work! It would be more satisfying if I could do the actual conversion using multiAVCHD. Any chance you could also post the original, unconverted demo files?

That would mean the original DEMO blu-ray disc, which is ~18GB. No :) I can't really. I guess you'll be able to do it yourself once you get a copy of Monsters vs. Aliens 3D.

This type of re-encoding is quite time/space consuming. For the 720p extras multiAVCHD cannot be used, so I do it manually.

For example "Coral Wonderlands" requires nearly 22GB of temporary files for just 120 seconds of video. Processing takes ~1 hour to get the final 138MB MKV. :)

Processing 1920x1080p works in multiAVCHD and may require 2x movie-m2ts space.

I'll try to locate the same Panasonic demo disc for now...

Hi deank, I found a small bug - hope I am posting in the appropriate place . . .

[log file included] I am running Vista Home Premium SP1

One file, C:\Users\UNOIT\Desktop\nin_m1080i.ts actually got written out as:

a) [17:08:33] Title #1 added: "Desktop / in m1080i"

as well as

b) [17:09:41] Playback will start with title #1 (Desktop / in m1080i).

and

c) 1. Desktop / in m1080i [00:02:20]

You can change the name in [properties]. The problem (bug) is that the file+path contains "\n" which is interpreted by multiAVCHD as "new line". I'll see if I can do anything about it.

Hi deank,

Can you upload the orignal mvc files of the main features with the orginal 3D?

Thx

deank

As I posted above - the disc is 18GB. I can't upload it anywhere.

Here it is as a torrent. (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/Panasonic.3D.Demo.Disc.Untouched.torrent) (18GB) (uploading from my laptop so have mercy)

To play it you'll either need a 3D Blu-ray player or software player capable of 3D (like TMT3).

SSIF folder is not needed if you're planning to use only LEFT+RIGHT m2ts files to obtain stereo information.

For example you can download 00001.mpls + 00001.m2ts/00002.m2ts and test a demux with eac3to - you'll get the left+right .h264 files.

deank,

Is this disk in the public domain, or do you have copyright? If not, then you cannot redistribute it here. Sorry.

deank

It is a demo disc which is not for sale and is distributed freely with new Panasonic Viera 3D TV sets.

I thought it is okay to share it.

deank, after updating to build 757, multiAVCHD now acts very slugish, especially trying to view custom menus and button highlight changes, etc..
It's about a 30 second delay before the preview will display. Not just the real time preview either. Kind of frustrating. :(
Anything change? Can I do/set anything differently to speed up previews?

ALSO:
I noticed when I used multiAVCHD to transcode some files, before it would start a pop up message asking to use ffdshow or not, once or never, that I needed to respond to.
What is the correct response to this message? I want to make the correct selection and check always to it to avoid this nagging message. :p

It is probably caused by ffdshow and a hidden prompt whether avsinfo.exe is allowed to use it.

Add .\tools\avsinfo.exe in the allowed apps to use ffdshow, or simply remove the restrictions in ffdshow if you have them set by default.

Few pages back there are some screenshots about ffdshow.

This is the post. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1406716#post1406716)

Thanks for the link, but I guess I'm not with it this morning.
I am using FFDSHOW: 3326 for compatibility with BD-RB, is that OK?
I am not understanding the instructions for ffdshow, since mine appears to be as the screen shot shows.
Would you be so kind to instruct me the necessary steps, in particular this: Add .\tools\avsinfo.exe ?

I believe this is the screenshot:

http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/steps/ffd-07.jpg

Remove the check-box [x] Use ffdshow only in...

or edit the list (if it is checked) and add avsinfo.exe from tools folder... I'd suggest to disable the checkbox at all.

I am not having good luck here! (Feeling old today!)
Tried that, both check boxes are un-selected, but still have the delay.
Tried adding avsinfo.exe, mx264.exe, x264.exe, but nothing is working, still waiting for the preview!
Oh well, thanks! Sorry to be a PITA, but patience for the preview has become a deterrent to having fun. :p

deank

Hmmm...

The only change in in 756/757 is about using avsinfo.exe when generating previews (and not x264). If you wish - rename avsinfo.exe in tools folder to avsinfo.xxx and try again. If you have the delay when transcode starts - then it means there is something changed @ your and between your last attempts and now.

Also make sure that you do the changes in ffdshow while no ffdshow is running. I can't think of anything else :)

I can't even click on the media title properties to view chapters, audio, subtitles, etc... without waiting 30+ seconds! Before it was just the menu preview, but now the whole program options give this delay!
Even blanking titles from a BD-RB full movie backup is delayed to choose/select the title to blank.

deank
23rd June 2010, 17:20
All is related to the very same thing. Executing avisynth scripts - be it with avsinfo.exe or x264.exe.

Capsbackup
23rd June 2010, 17:25
OK! Renaming avsinfo.exe in tools folder to avsinfo.xxx worked!!
Now I am back to quicker previews like before. The real time menu preview still has the 30+ second delay, but it always had that for me. Blanking responds quickly too.
Thanks deank, I appreciate your help! :)
