View Full Version : multiAVCHD - author Blu-ray/AVCHD (Blu-ray players, camcoders, Viera TV) + (HD) DVD

I used tsmuxer to cut out some .m2ts clips from some Blu-rays for a demo disc. I ran them through MultiAVCHD to combine them into a BD disc format. When I play the iso back on my computer using powerdvd ultra 9, the scenes with True HD sound only show that they are Playing Dolby Digital 640kps and it is not in sink with the video (off by about 1 second). I did not check the eac3to box because I wanted to keep the original HD audio, the clip was from "Old School". The other clips contained DTS-HD MA 5.1 and they turned out fine. How do I keep the True HD audio on a m2ts file?

I won't count on PDVD for testing. Try your 'production' in a real player and it should be okay.

@deankThe process of transcoding and adding hard-burned subtitles doesn't depend on the output format.
If you're using "START" -> "HD-DVD" without going to "TRANSCODE" window, then you have the option to choose hardburning of the subtitles, too.Does this procedure by any chance require changing any settings in FFDShow?
deank

No. multiAVCHD expects that all filters in ffdshow are disabled.

I'm a newbie on this program, but I was able to copy/add the files I wanted from a Blu-Ray rip directly into MultiAVCHD by just clicking the Add BDMV option rather than add video, and all chapters and subtitles were added too, since it looks at the .mpls file for this. An AVCHD title, I would think, would behave the same way. Give it a try!
Thanks.
Actually, we can copy or drag & drop the m2ts files without problem.

Thanks was looking for this for a long time its really great....i have 2 questions can u please clarify
1. Is there any possibility for adding borders without reencoding......I know its not there but how avi files are there without borders..and
2. Can we import gif images for menu backgrounds (or) import videos for intoductions..and how to increase the runtime of intoduction...
deank
29th December 2009, 10:48
1) No
2) Yes you can use GIF images (not animated). If you are asking about 'welcome screen' duration - you can set it to 30 seconds, but not more.
You can replace multiAVCHD's welcome screen with your own, by replacing files 01400.m2ts/.clpi/.mpls with your own.
-Murali-

but then why avi files will have that resolution without blackbars......and when we view it in telivision black bars are automatically added...so is it not possible for mkv???
Music Fan
29th December 2009, 18:04
The Divx players accept nearly all resolutions and add the black bars.
But for dvd-video or AVCHD, we have to respect a norm.
And AVCHD is not Mkv !
If you wanna transform a Mkv into AVCHD, you have to reencode it to add the black bars if the resolution of your Mkv is not 720.480, 720.576, 1280.720 or 1920.1080.
Some players accept other resolutions but deform it to adjust it to the screen format.
For example, 1920.800 could be played by some players but the 800 lines will be stretched to 1080 lines.
And the AVC has to be in 4.1 profile with 4 ref frames maximum.

I'm glad to announce that a new major version is on the way to you (ver 3.1)... It will be ready may be after the holidays.
It will feature the long waited animated menu (video title thumbnails + animated background) and background audio/music for title pages.
I'll upload a sample for some of you to test in their stand alone players.
Keep fingers crossed! :)

Cool !
And will you add the chaptering on keyframe ?
deank
30th December 2009, 01:48
No. It will slow down compilation generation a lot... It may require 30 minutes for 'chaptering' a good 4GB title when it takes 50ms now.

Sad news, it was my most important expectation.
I don't understand why the authoring would be slowed down, because it's very fast with Tmpg dvd author. Ok, it's for dvd in mpeg-2, but why is there a so huge difference ?
And in the actual working of MultiAVCHD, how are placed the chapters if not on keyframes ?

A quick note about build 722:
* Hidden titles are now really hidden and user cannot select/play them during playback of other titles
* Fixed some bugs about DVD interlaced sources detection
* Added detection of Provider name of imported Blu-ray discs
* Added detection of AVCHD compilations created by Sonic products (along with Panasonic, Sony, JVC, Canon and Nero)
* Some code optimizations
* Installer: removed icon key-shortcuts, because they cause too much trouble on some non-english windows installations
* Installer: fixed uninstalling: textST.exe, readSUP.exe and splitMKV.exe were not removed after uninstalling of multiAVCHD

Deank, could you answer please ?:o
I have a suggestion : if you don't want to slow down compilation generation because some people don't need it, you could maybe let the choice between a chaptering by seconds or by keyframes.
I can't believe that I'm the only one to need precise chaptering.
It's one of the basic feature of all authoring tools, and your program proposes much more sophisticated possibilities than this one.
Thank you for your work and understanding. ;)

Basically chapters are set in the playlist files (mpls) while muxing with tsMuxeR. Chapter times have a good precision (of 0.024sec per frame for 23.976fps video). What you ask requires searching for IDR frames in the video and I can't do it right now.
When using compliant AVCHD/BD sources or when transcoding with multiAVCHD, keyframes are placed at each second and chaptering should work properly.

Thanks for your answer.
Chapter times have a good precision (of 0.024sec per frame for 23.976fps video).
Off course, but we can't choose it because of the search by seconds.
Actually, it wouldn't be a problem if I could find a tool which shows the keyframes and the same total duration than MultiAVCHD.
Because as I said a few weeks ago, I have a mpeg-2 file (in 1080i) whose length differs depending on the programs (Virtual Dub, Mpeg Video Wizard, MultiAVCHD).
If the duration was the same, I could find the exact places of the keyframes with Vdub or MVW, create a chapter file and import it in MultiAVCHD.
deank
2nd January 2010, 12:32
I'm not sure if I can help at the moment. multiAVCHD supports chapter files in frame format so you can try to play with it - for example using the info from vdub. But don't rely on the preview in title properties. Once you create the compilation - test it in your player to check the jump points.

Sry for screenshots quality from my nokia phone and crt 4:3 tv.

2. rum = ron = ro = romanian. Sometimes your program said that one of these abbreviations are "romany". Romany even is not a language written. Romany is only spoken, even some "smart" guys are trying to prove that romany can be wrote. Oh, I can wrote: ahem, whoa, huh, wow.
I will never understand why some retard or idiot standard inventor decided that the "rom" abv, to be used for romany and not romanian. Even romany is not correct and is supposed to be rromany with two "r" so rrm or another 3 letters supposed to be for rromany. And rromany is the language of the gypsies. No gypsy write in gypsy or rromany language. No DVD or Blu-Ray is made with this language.
Sry for offtopic.
3. Deleting bug. Creating some AVCHD folder for tests. Then, wanted to create some Blu-Ray folder for another test from the previously created AVCHD. After finishing, the M2TS files from AVCHD folder dissapeared. The resulted Blu-Ray is fine.

1. Can multiavchd override the font settings from ass or ssa external and/or embedded subtitles with the font settings by the user from the multiavchd?
Not in 'advanced processing mode'. ASS/SSA are processed by VSFilter.dll and since original files are not altered you will see the fonts set by the script.
If you disable advanced processing you will get SSA converted to SRT and then user fonts will be applied.
2. rum = ron = ro = romanian. Sometimes your program said that one of these abbreviations are "romany".
My program doesn't say anything like it :) I added rom->ron conversion and it will be fixed in the next release.
3. Deleting bug. Creating some AVCHD folder for tests. Then, wanted to create some Blu-Ray folder for another test from the previously created AVCHD. After finishing, the M2TS files from AVCHD folder dissapeared.
This is not a bug. When you import a compilation created by multiAVCHD to create a new one, its contents are MOVED for faster processing. If you don't want it to happen - untick [x] Move transitional files in SETTINGS tab.

There is a serious problem with the encoding quality of the X264 encoder (x264.exe) included in the latest full download.
Please download this one (400kb ZIP) and unzip it in multiAVCHD\tools folder. (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/x264.zip)

Build 723:
* Reverted x264.exe (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/x264.zip) to r1336M
* Fixed rc-lookahead in HD-DVD transcoding mode
* Fixed all transcoding profiles (no weightp, no mbtree, etc.)
* Importing of AVCHD or Blu-ray structures is now much faster
* Added Czech translation (mlf file) by Radek Kříž - 2010 - "Any mistakes reserved" :)
* Fixed Romanian language id to "ron"
* Fixed a crash when importing structures, which have improper/added files in certain locations (like PLAYLIST folder)
* Fixed a crash when importing (network/USB) folders/files which don't exist (media disconnected)
* A lot of other small fixes and improvements

Hi!Fixed rc-lookahead in HD-DVD transcoding modeIn which build was this problem first introduced?
deank
4th January 2010, 00:23
It think it has something to do with 2passHQ not working as you remember. For some reason x264 would use rc-lookahead of 19 frames when only 14 are in a GOP... I believe it is caused by a bad x264 build (patched). Probably doesn't affect the playback quality in any way, but I wanted it to be correctly set to 14 frames.
Also all one and two- pass modes now work for HD-DVD transcoding. I checked them before the fix (some wouldn't work - just grey, green blocks and stuttering) and after the fix (all okay).
Weight prediction for P frames is disabled now and also mbtree is set to "no" for 2 pass modes. This eliminates all problems which I knew of. It is important to use the version of x264 which I posted in the previous post. Probably the problem appeared after build 716-717 with the change of x264.

Hi Dean
Just tried this build, replaced x264 exe with the one here, still takes longer than b717 to transcode 2 pass HQ. Here is the difference on the 2 passes, Pass 1, about 5% longer, Pass 2, 4 times longer.

Level (4.0 or 4.1) is just a flag in the stream. It doesn't actually make a stream compliant, although PS3 sometimes would accept 5.0 flagged as 4.1.
I'm not sure what your question is, but during remuxing the flag is set to 4.1 if user set that in Video group-box.

Okay, I have a dvb stream with Level 4.0 like *.ts-file and would like to make a AVCHD-Disc (Level 4.1).
The problem is that the program multi-AVCHD, "Force AVC/H.264 level 4.1 flag" is not functionally like *.ts-files. (after making AVCHD-Disc the Disc-Menu is in level 4.1 and the film is in level 4.0 and not in 4.1!)
