*** I don't understand your question about SRT subtitles.
you implemented this and the time lining must make a difference to set or not, but which?
deank
15th May 2009, 14:42
It is for SRT (text subtitles) and has nothing to do with DVD/BD sup subtitles.
If you had the FULL download from before - download it NOW. The update (of the exe) won't help you. Just try to follow some directions here.
Dean
*** the latest .exe update now has the "ABORT" button almost working :) it will abort compilation successfully in 99% of the cases.

at 16:10 I made the full download again and now started with one of those movies, which memcoder couldnīt deal with. Let see what happens this time....
...nothing better: stopped again at extracting the only subtitle, so I guess it has more to do with this subtitle than with your program!
With certain movies at the moment I have to leave subtitles....
So far: thank you Dean!

Build 586:
* Some fixes with chapter marks
* LPCM audio in DVD imported files/discs will always be converted to AC3. Sorry about that but at this point it seems that basic extraction of LPCM doesn't work, so multiAVCHD uses eac3to to convert it (and it now works if your DVD has LPCM audio). Also - without significant loss of quality you'll gain space!
Dean
@strad: Please give it a try with another DVD... As I posted yesterday - DVD import is just for testing purposes, although I managed to convert 4-5 DVDs without problems (with subtitles or not).

DVD import is an interesting concept. I tried 1 DVD successfully so far except one thing, bdsup2sub.jar couldn't start.
I'm using Vista 64 and pretty sure the problem is it's trying to call 64 bit javaw.exe (C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin) from a 32 bit application. I don't know if you want to look into fixing this or not especially with tsmuxer currently working on a solution that doesn't rely on java calls. But if you do with vista 64 and xp 64 you can get 32 bit install path from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\Applications\javaw.exe\shell\open\command in the registry and for 32 bit os I'm pretty sure it's HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\javaw.exe\shell\open\command

Hi Deank
Thanks for this soft.
I make my family disc with menu -january, february, march ..., but in one month i have for example 4 files - first i must in TsMuxer - append it in one file (title) for every month.
Can you add checkbox for titles - "Add thumbnail to menu" - in Tab Editor?
When I will be play it sequential -it will be all right, only will be problem with thumbnails for chapters in title.
Regards.

I'm using "java -jar bdsup2sub.jar" to launch it.. nothing special about it... If you find a way to launch it (via command line) in your environment - let me know and I'll add it.

Ya this is the problem then as default command interpreter is 64 bit in 64 bit OS. Working call for my environment from a 32-bit app would be: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe -jar b2sup2sub.jar".
But since java can be installed anywhere and C:\ isn't always system drive its much safer to query HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\Applications\javaw.exe\shell\open\command and use that path. If its 32 bit OS it won't find anything and it should continue to use 'java -jar'.
deank

Does it work from the command prompt?
C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe -jar b2sup2sub.jar
or better
javaw.exe -jar b2sup2sub.jar
I don't have time (nor resources with current app-creation "calcit" environment) to deal with registry and stuff.

Well... multiAVCHD is true win32 bit application... I can't test it in 64bit environment... and I guess most users will have to deal with it. It it's java only - then the only thing that won't work will be dvd-subtitles-import... all other things work fine.

Hi deank
I just thought I'll write a thank you for this great up you created.
I have been following it since you gave birth to it, sort of speak, and it has grown to be a great application.
I have one suggestion, only if it's possible, can there be an option for custom thumbnail for the XMB styled menu, but only for the preview of the movie title, so instead of showing a preview of the movie clip you can just add a 3D cover art preview of the movie in .png format so it can keep the transparency background and shadows.
So if you have multiple movies in on a disk it will show the movie cover preview and next to it will show the chapter previews as normal thumbnails as they are fine the way they are.
Once again, thanks for this great application. This app is worth donating to.

Hi deank, great program you made,i got one problem i have had for the last few builds, when i finish making an avchd folder and burn/test it i get no thumbnails or bg,just an update homepage with 3 icon markers which i can select to start an episode.
I tried v2.5 and it made the correct type of menu,i then got the latest update to try again and got this message-[18:35:28] x264/AviSynth output unexpectedly small or missing!

1) Download the complete setup!
2) There is a slider in Menu tab - FRAMES TO ENCODE - try to change it to middle position and check if it will work. Experiment with different slider positions.

Hi deank, just like to let you know that the clip details using XMB style for the most part didn't show the correct audio track info. For instance, I have a clip which featured DTS-ES6.1 track but it shows DTS 5.1...of course there's no problem with the clip. Just to let you know...I understand that there's some bug or error in reporting when you use mediainfo or was it mkvinfo (or the other way round) - but the error in clip info still remain.

On AVCHD with menu after last title playback the player stop.
Which one is true?
It is supposed to work like that:
* When QUIT is not selected:
1) With menu - last title finishes -> go to menu
2) Without menu - last title finishes -> quit/stop.
* When QUIT is selected:
1) With menu - last title finishes -> quit/stop

A note from Ai_em_ron:
Congratulations, built 588 works fine for me.
I think I also know what my problem was. I work with windows 7 64bit version, and I always got java errors.
I saw there is a 64 bit Java version so I downloaded and installed that, and all problems were gone.
I tested 2 different VIDEO_TS folders and they both worked on the PS3. With multiple audio and subtitle tracks.
So thanks a lot so far.
Maybe Java 64 bit is a tip for other users?

As a matter of fact, the HDPVR can encode in AC3 in 2 channels for analog input and 5.1 channels for digital. Take a look at the software you are using (TMT, SageTV, EyeTV...) and change the input accordingly. For capturing AC3 through optical input you might need to update the firmware of your HDPVR.
I'm using the bundled Total Media Extreme to capture. The choices for audio input are "RCA Back" (current setting), "RCA Front", and SPDIF. Doesn't SPDIF require a separate cable (not included with the PVR)? Even if I did that, it wouldn't help with all the recordings I've already made.

How do you play your output files?
You can't get the sound if you're playing directly the M2TS/MTS files. You need to play the whole AVCHD structure with AVCHD/Blu-ray player.
If you have TMT - drag the BDMV folder to it to initiate playback.

a few days ago I reported about convert-problems with subtitles from imported VIDEO_TS folders on HDD, ripped from original DVD with 2 language files and 1 german subtitle. The program always got stuck with a certain title while MENCODER tried to extract the subtitle (CPU always at 60%). After 1 hour I had to abort. With version 591 no difference!
Since I wanted this film in the compilation of 5 movies I tried out as follows and it worked:
with Subrip extracted the subtitle from each film, added it to the imported (joined) VOBīs in TsmuxeR and exported all as m2TS.
These files loaded in multiAVCHD made no problem anymore except 2 errors with Directshow and Mplayer, but only concerning thumbnails in title 3 (see attachments). After closing that message it went on and the final result on BD-RE 25 is completely OK (with subtitles!).
Dean, could you say, what causes those messages?
And another thing: sometimes after closing multiAVCHD and starting again I get the attached message, but taskmanager doesnīt show that process, and also had it even after restarting the computer. Any idea to that?
By the way: the editor preview is GREAT!

Dean-this a very unique and useful program-but I have a question. This is the logfile from a conversion that I tried. Evidently tsmuxer doesn't like the files-but here's the odd thing-I tried the same files before and they converted perfectly-I'm thinking that when I tried to update the program something got botched. Any ideas? Thanks.

About your DVD title hanging - I'd ask you to wait and try with the next build. If the problem persists - I'd be glad to get a sample of your DVD folder... If there is another way to extract DVD subtitles IN CLI application - let me know - I'll implement it.
You can also open task manager and kill mencoder. multiAVCHD will continue forward.
Evidently tsmuxer doesn't like the files-but here's the odd thing-I tried the same files before and they converted perfectly
[11:12:05] Detected video: ID#1:V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC 712x480,
I'm not sure if any player will play such resolution (712x...).
This programm getīs more and more important for me ... and now the only way to process my footage is multiAVCHD. But I fear that it also will break with my footage as it has tsmuxer integrated.
Don't worry. multiAVCHD doesn't use MOV features of tsMuxeR. In fact, as many of you think how hard multiAVCHD is dependent on tsMuxeR - it is the case and it is not. multiAVCHD has a completely different approach on feeding stuff to tsMuxeR so I doubt anything will ever go wrong (unless tsmuxer stops processing files at all :) ). multiAVCHD does not rely on tsMuxeR's ability to detect input files/types but forces it to accept what's written in the .meta file - hence multiAVCHD can process a lot more files, which tsMuxeR can't (or couldn't until recently). I also forgot to mention that I added (DVD) VOB and (DVR) TRP file support.
You have my skype - so just drop a note if you're worried about anything.

p.s. I'm preparing a new build that will offer completely rewritten way of importing AVCHD/BDMV folders and playlists. All will be available for edit/rearrange/remove in media tab. Preview (for titles) will work also for all kind of media (including playlists and imported AVCHD/BDMV titles). DVD support is also rewritten without the use of IFOUPDATE. DVD titles with no chapters get new ones...etc... a lot of things I prepared this afternoon... Will post it later.

@zrdb
I'm thinking that when I tried to update the program something got botched.
you should download the full version (now 2.7 build 591), might solve the problem. The "Tools" folder becomes updated from time to time!

thank you Dean!
multiAVCHD.pid doesnīt exist, but I disabled the warning in "Settings".
Killing memcoder leads to loss of that subtitle.
How can I submit the folder (4.2GB)?
What do you think about the thumbnail problem with DirectShow and MPlayer ("Directshow splitter/Encoder failed")? This obviously only has to do with just 3 chapter thumnails.

How do you play your output files?
You can't get the sound if you're playing directly the M2TS/MTS files. You need to play the whole AVCHD structure with AVCHD/Blu-ray player.
If you have TMT - drag the BDMV folder to it to initiate playback.
Thanks, I tried your suggestion of dropping the BDMV folder into TMT, but still no audio. I also tried playing the disc in my PS3. The video looks great, but no audio.

Build 600:
* DVD VOB support
* DVR TRP support
* Preview (3x3) for all media (including imported playlists)
* Bugfixes ("tsmuxer didn't like..." errors)
* Rewritten DVD chapters / titles import
* Imported DVD titles without chapters will get auto-generated chapter marks
* IfoUpdate.exe is no longer used for DVD import
* AVCHD/BDMV editor (on load) is removed
* Major revision of how imported PLAYLISTS are handled:
You will now see each title in MEDIA TAB (as a separate MPL/MPLS file). You can use UP/DOWN/DEL/VIEW/EDIT for all items in media tab. Removing titles will remove them from the list, not from your drive.
New IDs for media in MEDIA TAB:
[f] - File or MPL/MPLS playlist for m2ts join mode
[d] - DVD title
[m] - multiAVCHD playlist (no m2ts join)
[p] - Imported playlist (no m2ts join)
The difference between [m] and [p] is that [m]/multiAVCHD playlists and their media will be MOVED to your destination folder and [p] will be moved only if [x] Move ([x] all) is enabled.
[f] for MPL/MPLS means that playlist contents will be processed in m2ts join mode.
A lot of other new things in this release but it is late now so I'll leave the details for tomorrow.
If anyone experience some weird behavior from multiAVCHD - let me know.
I hope you'll like this release.

Had an Issue with Build 591. Some M2TS files would play fine an others would cause the PS3 to play part way through then crash out of the disk with Illegal Disk error. With a previous build which I don't know which one it was...sorry...I did not have this issue with the exact same M2TS files.
Any idea what may be causing the PS3 to react as Illegal Disk?
Thanks.:)

Hello,
about the "loop playback" at end of the last title saw in previous posts :
I've tested with the lastest versions :
- with avchd "no menu" and option QUIT desactivated, it's works fine.
- with avchd "with menu" and option QUIT desactivated, no "loop playback" and player return to the menu.
Can you add a option for avchd "with menu" to force loop playback at the end of last title (last title movie end->fisrt title movie start).
With this option, the return to menu will be only if "TOP menu/MEnu" button used on remote.
Another error appaer during complilation if I make AVCHD with menu, if image.jpeg existing in same folder as video/audio files.
ex : with movie.jpeg and movie.264/movie.ac3
If I removoe the jpeg file no error message, with avhd with menu, it's works fine.
