Hi deank,

Thanks for you program wich is the only way I found to this day to convert without reencoding my DVDs to AVCHD for playback on an Oppo BDP-83 (using the PS3 profile works fine)

I'd like to report an issue with subtitle creation though.

I got this warning in multiAVCHD:
!!! BDSup2Sub reported: 2 warnings!
[11:29:57] !!! Last imported subpicture: (none imported)
[11:29:57] !!! Subtitles may be incomplete!
[11:29:57] !!! Error converting subtitles! (java?)

I tried starting BDSup2Sub and it works fine so it eleminates an issue with Java VM.
After some investigation, it seems that the idx/sub output produced by mplayer isn't accepted by BDSup2Sub.

I reran the mplayer command used by MultiAVCHD to extract the sub stream and then loaded it manually in BDSup2Sub and it get this error message:
Illegal timestamp: 00:29# VobSub index file

Loading the idx file in a text editor, we can find the portion that BDSup2Sub doesn't like:
timestamp: 00:29:09:456, filepos: 000132800
timestamp: 00:29:12:433, filepos: 000133800
timestamp: 00:29# VobSub index file, v7 (do not modify this line!)
#
# Generated by MPlayer Sherpya-SVN-r29280-4.5.0
# See <URL:http://www.mplayerhq.hu/> for more information about MPlayer
# See <URL:http://vobsub.edensrising.com/> for more information about Vobsub

I'm not sure if this is an issue with mplayer or with BDSup2Sub but maybe you can do something about it :thanks:

If you remove the line will BDsup2sub accept the subtitle pair?

BeNooL
23rd January 2010, 14:53
This is going to sound weird but now I'm unable to get the same idx/sub output that I had before...
The idx file now doesn't have this comment mixed on timestamp line but still I get another error from BDSup2Sub:
ERROR: Invalid control buffer size

the same title and language sub extracted by VSrip is loading fine.

deank
23rd January 2010, 16:22
Then just use the extracted idx+sub from VSrip. :)

Hi,

Am I missing something or re-author mode isn't correctly working for seamless branching movies (generally all movies containing playlists that point to more than one m2ts file)?... If you have a playlist referencing to more than a m2ts file, instead of re-authoring each m2ts file independently, MultiAVCHD merges all the m2ts in new big m2ts where the re-author is done.

That means that if you have the extended version and the theatrical version sharing the same m2ts files and just inserting additional m2ts files for the extended version, after re-authoring, you will end with two big files even bigger than the original bluray.

Is there any hope that this will be corrected in a future release?

Greetings

Yes, you're missing something... (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1361598#post1361598) where you can read:
In re-author mode features as PIP (Picture-in-Picture) are not supported (yet). Blu-ray titles, featuring alternate endings with branched playlists may or may not work as expected (either one branch will work or you will get huge oversize, having both/all versions in the final compilation). I don't have such titles to test with. TextST (subtitles) should work.

Build 729:

* Last for version 3.0
* Updates are disabled
* x264 is replaced with one from build 717 to fix all troubles with transcoding
* uncropMKV is also updated
* either download the full package or update and download x264.zip from http://multiAVCHD.deanbg.com/x264.zip and put it in your \tools\ folder.
* Added FILE/PLAYLIST information in "Playlist" tab in Title properties

I have some titles that come this way... Is there any way I could make a sample of them (lets say take a few seconds from each m2ts/playlist) so I could upload them and you could take a look at them?

Dunno if you're an X-Files fan, but X-Files2: I Want to Believe is one such BD disc. I thought it might be fun to blank the main title(s) which include Theatrical and Extended versions, but no-go w/RA mode.

The reason I tried was to make a disc with just the extras, which include an extensive timeline of the entire series.

You can send me the entire structure without the files in STREAM/BDJO/JAR folders.

A short note about motion menu development... multiAVCHD now creates menus and extracts chapter/title thumbs in completely different manner (about 10 to 50 times faster). Pop-up works for all titles and chapter thumbs will no longer appear on the main menu page.

And back to the next update add-ons... I was thinking today if it is a good idea to add 'named chapters' menu. Since chapter thumbnails are no longer displayed in the main menu page, it is kind of cool to add names to chapter thumbnails once user opens the 'Chapter menu'.

Also... an option to add a subtitle track, using chapter names (useful for concerts / songs)...

Dean

***

I did a test with 252 titles few mins ago... What was previously known as 'menu' (now just static menu) takes about 25MB (130KB per title in 1080p, compared to 550KB in 1080i in ver 3.0) which is ~75% less (plus - it is created a lot faster).

I hope no one's getting angry because this question may have been asked already - I've used search to no avail yet I am not willing to read 206 [!!!] pages.

I had a look at multiAVCHD's homepage (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/), turorial (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/tutorial.php) and, partially, the forum (http://multiforum.deanbg.com/), too.

Wouldn't it be easy to add (classic) DVD authoring ability as well? You have Blu-ray and AVCHD as output already...

Hi Dean,

I have one further question regarding the "failure to write in file (...\multiAVCHD\cleannow.cmd)" problem. I do know, that Kaspersky scanner causes this problem, but in earlier versions I could overcome it with unchecking "Delete temp files". In actual version this option has no effect, cleannow command is always triggered regardless, if it is checked or not. Do You have any idea ?

Thanks !

deank
25th January 2010, 14:16
multiAVCHD creates like a dozen of .cmd files.. I wonder why this one triggers the error.. I may rename it to something else... and I'll check about 'del temp files'.

@Alba Ra: I have no knowledge about DVD authoring and there are so many programs which already have DVD support.

***

Those of you who updated to 729 may start multiUPDATE.exe to get the latest (again). There was a small fix for 2pass transcoding and 'welcome screen' encoding.

I know, it's just that none of them have the input capabilities as multiAVCHD. Added DVD authoring would turn your application into a full swiss-knife - that can do it all. Still, thanks for your reply and explanation. Much appreciated.

Very good work !

Good idea !

I think it was you who asked for more precise preview seeking in "Title properties".

I managed to make it work, so now precision is 1ms (<< and >> buttons skip 250ms), chapters reflect time with milliseconds precision. It is much better than 'frames'.

It will be available once I publish the next major version.

Yes, it's me, thanks a lot !
When you say a precision of 1 ms, I guess you mean that we will see the timecode in milliseconds (like in Virtual Dub for AVI), but that we will advance frame by frame, and not ms by ms ?
Because I believe we can't advance ms by ms in a video, it's too short compared to the duration of a frame (16.6 ms in 60hz, 41.6 ms in 24 hz, ...), am I right ?
Actually, a search by keyframe is enough (less precise than a ms precision), but it's maybe more difficult to program than what you are going to propose.

OK so I have a problem I am hoping you can help with.

This is not the first time this has happened so that is why I have come to ask about it.

I have an MKV file which is approx 6GB in size, inside the MKV with MultiAVCHD it shows as having 2 audio files(ac3 and DTS), and SUBS. after using the properties window to remove both the AC3 and the SUBS I then use the transcode button as default settings to adjust to compliant size. I click ok and then use the fit to all button to make the file size for DVD 5 (standard dvd).

the file converts fine and everything plays and looks as it should on the PC. However when I come to use IMGburn to burn the finished AVCHD it reports that it is too big (aprrox 100MB) and cannot be burned.

1. Why does this happen?

2. What can be done about it?

3. I always thought that DVD's could be overburned and that IMGburn has that feature, although I have tried to burn anyway and it always fails at the end resulting in a non usable disk.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

inside the MKV with MultiAVCHD it shows as having 2 audio files(ac3 and DTS), and SUBS That is NOT a wedding video. You are welcome to post a fragment of this M2TS to show that it is a wedding video, of course with the two tracks and subtitles. Followup to discuss the forum rules and/or moderation decisions go to PM, however. Do not continue that discussion here, per forum rules 3 and 17.

You also have an earlier post that you deleted that demonstrates that you are downloading copyrighted materials illegitimately. Now that you've had multiple warnings, immediate strikes will follow any repeated violation.

It's very simple, you cannot discuss this illegitimately obtained material here.

Dean,

I downloaded your file and burned it to BD-RE. My JVC XV-BP1 recognized it as AVCHD disk. Looks cool. Couple things though.

When I navigate to the left to highlight PLAY button I don't see that blue square, it is in overscan area. I think it would be better if you put all those buttons in vertical direction:

PLAY
CHAPTERS
TITLES
SET UP

Also, footer is in overscan area. I can barely see top edges of those letters.

But overall it looks great!

Your setup is faulty...that´s why you have overscan.
With Blu-Ray/AVCHD @ FullHD there is no such thing like Overscan!!!
Switch your TV to "SCAN" mode not 16:9 then you´ll be able to see the whole content of the AVCHD (picture).

@Dean
Well what can I tell you. Plays fine so long.
Any option called the Menu is replayed.

Do I press PLAY the Pioneer goes to hell ;)
Only thing that help here.....pull the plug :(

The Samsung by the way survives.....after a few "scratches" it plays the menu again. Everything is fine.

Pioneer BDP-LX52 (V3.41)
Samsung BD-P2500 (V2.5)

==============================================
Note of general concern:
Something must have changed again within the last builds of x264. My last encodes have gone unconform with blu-ray/avchd standart. I can´t play them on my Pioneer!!!
Changing the parameters (command line) for x264 gets me back to playable stuff.
With "Simple x264 Launcher" the following worked instandly: using preset fast with the addition of "--level 4.1 --nf --direct auto --vbv-bufsize 16000 --vbv-maxrate 16000 --subme 5 --no-mbtree --trellis 0 --me umh --nal-hrd --sar 1:1"
Of course this is just a sugguestion.

Basically I wanted to warn you, that you should check your results before deleting the sources, just like me here

You can't have them placed vertically, because UP/DOWN scroll the title list. About the overscan - there are settings in multiAVCHD which let you move all (footer/header and title list) to a place where they won't be affected by the overscan.

Okay guys... after a week or so of non-stop working on the motion menu it is finally ready (XMB and Slide styles).

multiAVCHD now supports static and motion menus + chapter pages + title list menu.

It is possible to create a compilation without a menu (xmb/slide/carousel) but only with a Title List Menu which allows you a faster scroll (12 titles per page).

All menu pages (static or motion) feature background audio.

Here is how it looks:

XMB base static:
http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/730RC_shots/multiAVCHD_730RC_xmbS0.jpg

XMB base static / chapters:
http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/730RC_shots/multiAVCHD_730RC_xmbSch.jpg

XMB base motion (title thumb and background are video):
http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/730RC_shots/multiAVCHD_730RC_xmbM0.jpg

Title List Menu (for all menu styles and when not using menu):
http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/730RC_shots/multiAVCHD_730RC_tlm0.jpg

http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/730RC_shots/multiAVCHD_730RC_tlm1.jpg

And of course - the POP-UP menu (designed by drelin) available during playback of each title:
http://multiAVCHD.deanBG.com/730RC_shots/multiAVCHD_730RC_popup.jpg

Also, in Blu-ray output mode there are 'clicks' :) when you move the selection box in the "Chapters" and "Title List" pages.

All buttons can be placed at user-defined places, labels (play/setup...) can be changed and a lot of other things.

Since the GUI is lacking the additions, I can post a test version (1.5MB) for those of you who want to give it a try.
