Thanks deank for the excellent multiAVCHD software.
3-4 years back I used an older Panasonic BD35 blu-ray player that would only work with the AVCHD restricted output build format with static menus.
Last month I upgraded to a newer (2011 model) Panasonic BDT-210 blu-ray player and found it wouldn't play any old DVD+R discs I created with the AVCHD restricted output format with menus, they would just hang apparently in attempting to load the title menu. The new player would however play AVCHD discs I created with titles only and no title or other menus.
I experimented today with other build formats and found the newer Panasonic BDT-210 player would work fine with full AVCHD (not restricted) build output format with menus. Using the menu item for Strict AVCHD folders checked or unchecked didn't matter (that just appears to create a dummy CERTIFICATE folder if unchecked) - burning a DVD disc with just the BDMV folder worked fine as long as I did a build with full AVCHD (not restricted) format with menus.
The new player could play a test AVCHD restricted format disc if I had it set to go directly to the first title and not the title menu, but would again hang if I tried to access the title menu. Again worked fine if I built it with full AVCHD (not restricted) format. Of course a full Blu-ray output format to BD-R or BD-RE also worked fine as well with menus.
So it appears newer Panasonic blu-ray players now work with unrestricted AVCHD format, and not with the restricted AVCHD output format that the older Panasonic models required for discs with menus. But there doesn't appear to be a single AVCHD output format with menus that will work in both older and newer Panasonic players from what I've seen. Only a full Blu-ray output format with menus, or a menu-less AVCHD disc would work fine in both old and new models.
Perhaps others can test other manufacturer's Blu-ray models (old and new) to see what output AVCHD formats with menus are supported for those and report them.

Thank you so much Deank! I'll try them.
Yes, the slim PS3 has pretty new firmware. That's why I keep the old thick one never updated to have at least a working one.
In the last weekend, I tried a couple more and had an error that never happened. It says "DTS audio track is not added, please enable "Use eac3to". I don't know what option was clicked by mistake.
1) In the title [properties] you can set the thumbnails for all chapters. Most of the time the first chapter (at 00:00:00.000) is just a black screen -> black thumbnail :) Another option would be to use [x] Chapter icon between chapters in AUTHOR/Video&Chapters and then in [properties] use [auto] chapters. Also you can change "Thumbnail #00" in [menu thumbnails] in [properties]: click on it, select a chapter from the list in the top-right hand corner and press [link].
2) You can try to disable the option [Discard settings from project files] in "settings" tab.
3) I'm not sure about that - never happened to me and the imported titles are the correct number
4) I have a slim and fat and everything is fine on both (but I'm still on firmware 3.55). I remember reading that sony changed something, but not really sure. What firmware version do you have on your PS3s?

Hi There
I'm using multiAVCHD for quite a while now.
Through a lot of trial and error here is my method that
my BluRay player now accepts multiAVCHD authored blurays with
menu (incl. moving menus, moving thumbnails etc.)
My Player is Panasonic BT310 and also my old Phillips BDP 7500 Bluray Player accepts those Blurays.
Only my old Panasonic BT30 doesn't work.
1. When transcoding untick : use long GOP if possible
2. Quality: Do not transcode faster than : 1 past fast
3. Ref Frames: 4, B-Frames 3, Level 4.1
4. Under Menu Settings tick : Use MPEG-2 for Menu encoding
5. Menu Encoding Quality: Very High
6. When authoring I tick just Bluray/BD-R
You can use motion menus and everything else
All other settings are standard.
Even Adobe Encore CS5 -CS6 accepted MTS Files from the STREAM folder encoded with those settings: and adobe ist extreme picky when it comes to blurays streams (it also didn't reencode it anymore at accepted the streams as is)
So far alll blurays played fine in panasonic BT310
There where burned with Power2GO: UDF 2.5 setting
Greetings:)

:(Help!!!!
One of the title in the multiAVCHD folder doesn't show the picture in my PS3 (others are fine) and I can't stop and get it back to menu or title list. I had to unplug the power cord from PS3 and restart. However, due to the "resume" feature of the MultiAVCHD, it starts again and black screen with sound only.
How can I get out the play and see the menu or title list again in order to play others?
Thanks.

Hi Guys !
And Deank thank you very much for the wonderful tool that is multi AVCHD.
I have a small issue that i can't explaine, but perhaps someone here, can.
My original file has an audio delay (-83ms says mediainfo). So, i tried to set it up in Audio tab. (transcode button-->Audio TAB).
But until now, nothing workerd. i always had this delay, and when i look in the log file, nowhere in the tsMuxeR meta section, the delay appears.
Also, I tried, with tsMuxeR, to obtain .M2TS file, with the proper delay! And nothing worked...
Any ideas ?
Thank you very much.
If needed, i can post the initial mediainfo log, and multiAVCHD log.

Hi,
Please, sorry my bad English.
I'm learning MultiAVCHD. It's a great software. I have a question about menus:
It's possible make menus like Ghibli Japananese Blu-rays?
The screenshots are here: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/reviews/grave_of_the_fireflies.htm (the red menus)
If it's possible, there is a tutorial or something like?
Thank you so much!

I finally found out how to use DVB subtitles from MPEG-2 1080i TS files and to author Blu-ray using multiAVCHD (Demultiplexing with ProjectX, but I did the same for months without success, my mistake was that I added SUP files instead of IDX files to multiAVCHD).
BUT now I would like to the same with H264 1080i TS files. I have lot of recorded HD H264 files with DVB subtitles. I did the same as for MPEG-2 1080i TS files but there are no subtitles in compiled Blu-ray. I suppose that the problem is that now ProjectX, as it cannot demux H264 video, adjust subpicture stream at its own timeline, not to video timeline as for MPEG-2 1080i TS.
On the other hand when I compare corresponding IFO files from ProjectX (for MPEG-2 1080i TS and H264 1080i TS) I cannot see any difference.
Is there any way to fix this problem and compile Blu-ray with extracted subtitles?
I sincerely hope that someone will find the time to answer at least if it is possible.
Thank you very much in advance.

TSDoctor could perhaps help you.
Thank you very much for your answer. I already tried TSDoctor and TSDoctor can demux all streams (video, audio and all 6 DVB subtitle streams) but I don't know how to use these SUP files:
1. multiAVCHD acccepts them but there are no subtitles in compiled BD, what can be expected as neither
2. BDSup2SUB (can export BD/SUP file from idx/sub) nor
3. Subtitle Creator (in order to get VobSub idx/sub file pair)
can recognize SUP files from TSDoctor.
Any idea?
By the way, when I use MKVMerge to mux H264 TS file with idx/sub subtitles files from ProjectX subtitiles are out of synch, actually subtitles start at the very beginning.

hi,
hoping someone here can maybe point me in the right direction
hi,
been using this awesome software in combination with BD rebuilder for over 2 years now. Multiavchd to remove some extra's, or transcode them to 720p and to sometimes add audio or subtitles.
In those 2 years .. never a problem.
Now the last week, I've had 3 discs that after I put them through multiavchd, I get the 2501 error "disc is not blu ray structure" in BD rebuilder when I load it there to make a BD25. Which I find so weird ... since all files & dirs are there.
Is there anything I can do / to check why certain discs after multiavchd don't open in bd rebuilder ?
Just to mention :
- the full blu ray's open & recode perfectly in bd rebuilder so it's no problem with the original rip.
- with the discs with a problem I've tried at least 2 times with multiavchd to remake the disc to make sure it didn't go bad or something.
- The 3 discs I had a problem with after going through multiavchd were 101 Dalmatians; Aliens (which I found very weird because it's structure is 100% like Alien with which I had no problems) & Vampire Diaries S1D4
tnx in advance for some pointers or tips
I haven't changed any settings or programs on my PC. Only thing I recently installed is VLC media player.

Hey guys,
Every BD disc has at least the 2 main folders: BDMV and CERTIFICATE.
I've noticed on several BD's the addition of one or more zip files and an XML file. And, of course, just blanking a couple of warnings, etc., in re-author mode, multiAVCHD ignores these files.
BDMV
CERTIFICATE
128824576.ZIP
128824577.ZIP
128824578.ZIP
FilmIndex.xml
Anyone know what purpose those extra files serve?
laserfan
11th August 2012, 13:16
What's in the ZIP files. I'd guess that that stuff is just junk that got missed in the authoring process?
rapscallion
11th August 2012, 17:13
@laserfan
Inside zips :
1. Folder with the same # as the zip
2. Then a same # file with a "klk" extension and a "sync" folder
3. In the syn folder : 2 files w/"IID" extension and 2 with "syn" extension . "128824576-dts_5_1-eng" and 2 with "spa" vs eng.
Other 2 zips are similiar but with 2.0 vs 5.1 and "fra" vs eng/spa
Not the first time I've seen this, but tend to agree with you

Is it possible to remove chapters in properties to effectively 'edit' the video file? (remove the selected clips from the output)
I tried choosing a chapter & clicked remove but the app doesn't seem to respond. The chapter is still included in the chapters list.
I don't really expect this to work but thought I'd give it a shot..

Sometimes happens that picture is blurred due FPS rate, so if movie have 23.976 FPS you need to change FPS options in Transcode from Original to 23.976 (probably a bug).

I've started having a strange issue with multiAVCHD. I am putting all my blurays onto a HD to play through PS3 and successfully until recently. Since I formatted and reinstalled Windows 7 (x64) the process hangs at "renaming to FAT compatible" near the end of the process. The weird thing is I can make 2 half size compilations (36 titles each) without any problem but when I combine them (72 titles in total) it hangs. I never had this problem for 2 years! I've left it for up to 14 hours to see if it moves on but it doesn't and multiAVCHD cannot be closed even with task manager.
I'm using build 771, the recently released one on Dean's homepage - but I had same issue with build 770 too.
Anyone any ideas please? It's driving me nuts!

I was trying to combine AVCHD folders from 2 HD with quite number of titles (for PS3) . However, it had a power break and all 3 AVCHD folders are incomplete now.
I can recognize each title by its file size (4GB, 4GB, 2.1GB 3 files for example) and recognize what it is by playing the ts file.
How can I re-make the AVCHD (without re-mux these files into each title) with multiAVCHD and just let the multiAVCHD to add these 3 files directly into one title? I hope I can restore all titles back into a new AVCHD.
Thanks for you help for such a raining day!
AND Why is the response time so long when click on to another title from properties window. It used to be very fast, now it takes a few minutes for each title to get back.

I have created a project with 13 titles, each with their own background image and background audio. The problem is this:
For title #12, the background audio playing is that of title #11. Title #11 has the correct audio playing. The Title List menu is non-functional on all titles.
The problem does not occur when using 12 titles. No errors were shown in the logs.
I redid my project with 12 titles, but there is another problem. If I use the setup menu, then the title list menu button does not work. No matter which title menu I am at, the Title List just resets the screen. The ONLY way around it is to restart the disc, or go to a DIFFERENT title, select play, then access the title list from the Pop Up menu.

Each title has an independent menu. When you change titles, you are basically switching menus and starting over again.

I'm trying to like this program, but this deal-breaker is making it hard for me.
Regardless of what I do, multiavchd *always* reencodes the DTS track into ac3. I do not want this to happen. I've unchecked the 'use eac3to' option, and ever option underneath it. Nope...multiavchd keeps calling the program to convert the dts to ac3. I want to keep the DTS track, so how do I?

Hi all,
Been using multiAVCHD with (mostly) wonderful results for several months, but periodically run into these odd sequence of errors that when I cancel out the program will just close. I run into one of two scenarios:
1) a window pops up that says tsMuxer has stopped working - once I cancel out of this it normally retries once, then stops working again, then eventually multiAVCHD crashes
2) an error window that says something like "(RT) Invalid array index. Array is empty - Line 35926" - Again, after clicking ok to close the message the software crashes
I did some searching on the multiAVCHD forum, and it sounds like sometimes bad srt files within the MKV files can contribute to this, but the one in particular I'm running into tonight has no subtitles at all.
I would say (roughly) this happens 15-20 % of the time. Often, if I "re-do" the MKV file using RIPBOT, the output MKV file works much better (but not always).
Anyone else familiar with these types of messages and what they could mean?
Thanks!

Which "flavor" of DTS is the audiostream? Perhaps the type of DTS requires that you place a checkmark next to "Core only" (or similar. I forget the exact wording) on the page that shows tabs for "Audio", "Subtitles", etc.

Suddenly I now find Multiavchd 3.0_729 & 4.1_771 freezes/hangs and will not load files when I click on the Add media button.
The only way to close the application is through Task Manager End Task button.
However Drag & Drop of files into Multiavchd works and adding AVCHD/BDMV/DVD folders button also works.
So the problem only occurs with the add files dialog.

Just bought Lawrence of Arabia BD and was surprised to see that the studio left in the 4m15s prelude of music/blank screen and the same for the intermission at the 2h19m point. They didn't even chapter it so you can skip to the video. Very strange.
So, in reauthor mode, I used the "cut start" and "cut end" to eliminate the beginning ~4m.
However, I can't figure out how to eliminate the music/blank video at the intermission point. Essentially a "double cut" ?
If Multiavchd isn't capable of this, is there any software out there that will?

Hi setarip,
No, complete bd, not a "movie only" remux, (blanking the usual warnings, interview and studio clips).
You're correct re tsmuxer and I thought of using it and reinserting the remuxed movie stream but I don't think that MAVCHD wil handle the time change correctly.
I've already eliminated the prelude, so I think the easisest solution is Laserfan's suggestion to just insert a chapter mark at the end of the intermission.
Edit: I forgot that eliminating the prelude will throw all of the chapters off, so chapter marks it is.

Hi!
Although I can't believe that "Dean" would not error-proof this procedure, you might want to check for illegal 8.3 characters in your filenames.
Try making the compilation with only 2 titles and see if it still hangs at the "setting FAT compatible 8.3 filenames" stage. If it doesn't try it 40 titles - and work your way up and down regarding number of titles until you come to the highest number of titles that convert to "setting FAT compatible 8.3 filenames"...
Bomopu
27th November 2012, 21:44
Thank you for the reply. I don't think it's caused by an illegal character because all the titles are already in compilations. Problem comes when I combine them all. I will try adding one title at a time and see if it highlights a particular one that's causing the problem.
I don't believe it's the number of titles though - on another HD I put over 200 titles in a single compilation.

Using MultiAVCHD 4.1 (build 771) and creating a static XMB menu with two titles/episodes, each title/episode with one audio and one subtitle.
Making a strict AVCHD output (20GB) and it plays perfectly fine on PC.
when burning to 25GB BD-RE disc and playing on standalone (Oppo 93) menu shows as it should and I'm able to select and switch, each title.
But when playing any title/episode the video doesn't show up, only audio and subtitles plays.
So, menu stays but audio and subtitles plays? Strange indeed!
Tried using ac3 audio instead of dts, tried downgrading MakeMKV to 1.7.8 and resetting MultiAVCHD to default and starting all over but no luck...
Also tried burning to a 25GB BD-R, don't know why really, and of course it didn't play the video, only audio and subtitles. Arghhh!
Have done several compilations using the exact same workflow and settings with excellent results but never seen this behavior.
What am I missing? Any input is highly appreciated.
