I cannot get the movie to play properly, and even after updating most of the executables in the tools subfolder I still get avs4x264.exe has stopped working when trying to transcode them. Anyone got an idea on how to fix that?

MultiAVCHD is not a video converter (or whatever all-in-one software) - it was designed primarily to make BD-compliant videos playable on a PlayStation 3. The rest was a bonus, like subtitles, uncropping and so on.
Your problem should be solved by ensuring the videos are BD-compliant.

So i would just have to retranscode the bugged x264 stream (? which is it apparently) to 25p? How does 1920x1080i/25p even work, is that interlaced or progressive, or did the original author do something quirky there?

25p is not supposed to be BD compliant but actually it generally works.
even after updating most of the executables in the tools subfolder
I'm not sure it is a really good idea because I changed TSmuxer by curiosity and the resulting AVCHD was not playable, while the same project worked with the old TSmuxer version installed by multiAVCHD.

25p for BD is flagged as interlaced even though it is progressive. There's a setting in x264 for this. Go here (http://www.x264bluray.com/home/1080i-p).

Yes, that's the best thing to do but if one has already encoded in 25p without this flag, it will work on most players anyway.

Anybody know how to add multiple avchd folders to a flash drive so they will properly play on ps3?
Typically I just author multiple titles together with multiavchd and copy the avchd folder to the root of the flash drive..
My question is about adding new avchd folders periodically with the previous folders still on the drive.
Is there a numbering sequence that will work? Thanks.

This tool works great on my Win 7 64bit Desktop but just installed it onto a new Thinkpad laptop with same OS.. After loading a 720p.ts file it takes forever to go to properties. It creates a .ffindex file before it will proceed..
I have the same k-lite codecs installed as the desktop and multitest passes.. Any ideas on how to skip the indexing step?
EDIT- Ok, I unchecked 'Use FFms2 instead of Directshow' and it seems to have fixed it.. To all of you who know more about this than I do - Is that the solution?

ffms2 always indexes video before opening it. DirectShow doesn't. ffms2 should be frame accurate. DirectShow tends not to be (when navigating back and forward in a video etc). If you're encoding a video from start to finish, DirectShow should be fine. Maybe the indexing process takes longer when using a laptop as it has a slower hard drive than the desktop?
Keep in mind if you have any of ffdshow's video filters enabled (I'm assuming you have ffdshow installed... I can't remember whether it's still included in K-Lite) they can effect the video decoding. Assuming ffdshow is decoding. For example, if you enable the ffdshow picture properties filter and adjust the contrast or brightness etc, it'll be adjusted when you re-encode also. I've done that many times in the past..... encoded video before realising I hadn't disabled ffdshow's filtering first. Of course if you never enable ffdshow's filters, or LAV or another DirectShow codec is doing the decoding, it won't be an issue.

Sigh, did a fresh Windows install and now eac3to inside multiavchd won't encode audio in any way. I take that back, if it does decide to encode any audio it drops any 5.1 DTS or AC3 track down to 128kbps. It won't do anything at all with DTS-HD or TrueHD, all conversions just fail and will only mux in the audio untouched. Any audio files in mkv container have never really worked to begin with if I wanted to transcode the audio. Most files I have to mux into m2ts so the audio is recognized and then add in chapter file separately. Even in an m2ts container I cannot get eac3to to do anything with my audio other than downconvert it to AC3 @ 128kbps?
Any idea what's going on? I have installed ffdshow, avisynth, and haali just like always and still no joy. Right now I just have LAV filters installed and I can still encode a video but can't doing anything with audio so I do that separately in audiomuxer, which is a pain.

Yes, well I don't think I explained myself very well. For instance. I have a BD rip with a DTS-HD or TrueHD track and I want to convert it to let's say a AC3 @ 448. I cannot achieve this anymore. If I take a AC3 @ 640 or DTS @ 1500 and want to lower it to a AC3 @448 or 256 or whatever, its is not allowing me to do it, or if it does it is always lowering it to AC3 @ 128.
Did I just complicate it even more?

Actually multiAVCHD has some bugs and is really outdated, it should be used only for authoring, not encoding.
To re-encode sound, you can use eac3to, its command lines are quite simple.

Yes, I do realize this. It's just irritating because I had it all working before and now it's not. I wish the program would get updated but it does not look like that's going to happen, and that's very unfortunate as it is a fantastic program when it works correctly.

Agreed. There's nothing similar out there and AFAIK no one has anything like it in development. Unfortunately, I don't think it is open source and the author seems to have disappeared.

Hello,
I use multiavchd for a long time.
Suddenly I noticed something strange.
Although I see on main menu preview the buttons (box with colors), when I play my final AVCHD disk (folder from PC) I see an arrow at the same color and I have no pop up menu (even though I choose it from the beggining of my project).
Few days ago, I didn't have any problem.
Has anyone else the same problem or might know what cause it?
(I install it to another PC and I have the same result)
:thanks:

Sorry if this has been asked before. Can multiAVCHD handle Dolby TruHD and DTS HD?
Like if someone has a collection of clips that have those audio formats, and they want to put them together on one disc with a menu structure, will that work? Will the HD audio remain?

I have had success making BDR's using both of these Hi-Rez formats with this program. I run into issues if I try to transcode the audio, I didn't used to but I do now. I really like DTS-HD, I don't really care for Dolby True-HD... it's more of a pain in the ass imo.

Hi
Some unwanted audio streams were stripped from 35GB's Blu-ray.
The result really suprised me because the new size is 65GB.
What went wrong?

Here is a small tool for fast text subtitle conversion (microDVD SUB, SRT, SSA/ASS) to PGS/SUP/XML/PNG(BDM):
****
Download link: 1.3MB standalone package (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/goSUP/)
Download link: 125KB executable only (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/goSUP.exe) (if you have multiAVCHD, just put it in multiAVCHD folder).
(since my servers are down, here is a mirror for the .exe (http://92.247.11.202/sub/new/goSUP.exe)only.)
As you can see, it is quite simple, but some people need just that. :)
http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/goSUP.jpg
XML+PNG are saved in a .rar archive in source file folder (just like easySUP does).
SUP is saved in source file folder.
******************
It takes about 2-3 mins to process 500 subpictures in 1080p, about 1min for 720p (and 20-30secs for 480/576i).
No external filters/plugins are used in the avisynth script.
It supports, left/center/right alignment, bottom offset, font size/color/outline, shadow, blur, opacity... Breaks long lines in ssa/ass, converts {000}{000} microDVD sub and ssa/ass to srt before converting to png/xml/sup.
Requires only avisynth and java (for bdsup2sub).
goSUP supports multiple source files. You can drag&drop multiple text subtitles to the file-box and get them processed in batch.
Dean
Hi ! I've tried goSUP and I saw the conversion going and completed but sup are supposed to be in the source folder. Is it the srt subs folder or the goSUP folder or folder where multiAVCHD tools are ? I can not find my converted sup ! Very strange. Thanks for helping me.
Capsbackup
13th July 2015, 22:39
You could try doing a search with the original name of the file and .sup on the end to see if you can find it that way.
Or it could be in the source folder but just did not get the ".sup" extension put on the end so you can't tell that it's there.
Or it did not actually convert the file because of an error.
Look for the .RAR file folder.

I've done such search without any positive results. Tell me, it looks like goSup would come up within multiAVCHD if extension has been put in the multiAVCHD folder. Is it right ?
When I had external subs, there is no popup windows or any additional changes to the program, that would permit to use goSUP at this point. I've also tried easySUP with same result. I'm still with Windows 7 64.
Thanks for your response.
Update: I've found the folder "multiTEMP-20150705" under TEMP folder in multiAVCHD. But I have another problem, multiAVCHD authored the addition but refuses to show subs although I can see it under BDInfo and MediaInfo. Must it be authored with BDEdit ? If so, this is a real challenge as things I can do with this marvelous program, are limited

I want to download Hauppauge captured HD AVCHD video to DVD in AVCHD format. I am running into BFF problems, even if I alter detected properties to BFF interlaced. I have gone through this thread and done what is suggested, but my videos still show BFF foward-backward motion problems when played on my SONY Blu-Ray player. I believe I have all the tools needed by MultiAVCHD.
Is there something else I should be doing?

If I remember correctly the Hauppauge HD AVCHD videos are usually captured using the component RGB connections and the cable box sends 1080i 59.97 or 720p at 29.970 fps. You get into all sorts of problems when you try toconvert them to another format because the cable box compression algorithm's are very inconsistent and have all sorts of bandwidth artifacts and errors because it's so compressed. When was the last time you watched even an HBO show with out glitches. I finally gave up on using the Hauppauge for capturing anything except over the air broadcasts because of this. At least the OTA broadcasts were not squeezed down to just a garbage bitrate but they still had some artifacts because of interference in the signal. I finally gave up on my Hauppauge 1212 and sold it. TV has become such a crappy excuse for high definition because the cable companies need for more and more crappy channels and to supply the idiots who are apparently willing to pay through the nose for all the on demand non-sense. Wow! I think I'll pay 7.99 right now to watch The Walking Dead "AIR" on my cable box, lol. I can just imagine how crappy its going to be when they try to cram 4K into the wire.

I was told multiAVCHD is not recommended for authoring SD AVCHD because the x264 is very outdated and there is no way to replace with newer versions. Is this true? I'm archiving interlaced and progressive SD DV captures onto Blurays.

You can encode your videos in x264 before to open them in multiAVCHD that will be used only for authoring.

Under the settings tab there is a box that says "X264". You can select to use the 64-bit version, and add command line options to one pass, or two pass encodings.
I haven't tried swapping out the encoder, but it could work in theory.

Hello everyone,
When authoring a BD with multiAVCHD, pop-up menu does not appear, when I press the remote key. And this is happening only when using 720p videos, because with 1080p, it pops-up fine!
Of course, in the "Author" tab, the "Add pop-up menu" option is always checked.
I thought it was my stand-alone player (Panasonic), but I also tested the disc on an LG BD player and I got the same failure.
Any suggestion, please?
Thank you,

Hello again,
It was too good to be true! Until yesterday, multiAVCH was warking like a charm and suddenly is "misbehaving". No matter which project, or settings I load, the Menu's background (image) won't change at all and also, I cannot modify some settings like, for example, the name of the "Title List", which I successfully modified to "Extras", until yesterday! I tried the following: resetting all by default, rebooting my PC, removing and re-installing the program (also with the previous version and then again with v. 771). I even removed and re-installed the required haali (recommended version) and ffdshow, but nothing! So frustrating, but of course, it's not the end of the world. :(
Has anybody elese encountered the same issue?
Thanks again in advance,
Jiji

Hi everyone!
I finally, found out why that was happening and it was caused by me! Let me share it in case someone bumped in the same problem:
In order to make sure that the the playback returned to the main menu, I checked in "Media/Properties" the option "Action after playback" to "Menu/Custom" and pressed "OK". Doing so, the Main Menu gets blocked for editing! All it took was to select "Menu/Default", instead, to be able to edit the menus again.
Hope this helps!
