It depends on how 'wrong' the resolution is. You may be able to play them as they are... Otherwise you will need to transcode to proper resolution.

Have in mind that strict Blu-ray/AVCHD resolutions are 720x480, 720x576, 1280x720, 1440x1080 and 1920x1080.

It is better to test and then decide what to do.

the files play but theres a big black line at the bottom of the screen

is there any way to remove this with out re encoding as that takes ages

thanks

hi dean

i didnt see uncrop mkv before, so im going to use it. My mkv resolution is 1280 x 532 so i should uncrop to 1280x720 right?

thanks

deank
5th September 2009, 16:03
Yes, but it is better to use multiAVCHD's built in "Transcode" function (in Title properties). It is similar to (but better than) uncropMKV.

transcode is greyed out, how do i enable it?

thanks

It is enabled for mkv/*ts/mp4... and other types of video... What did you load?

deank

If you load playlists/compilations then you need to switch the title to 'full processing'. Use the 'normal (playlist)' button in Title properties. It will unlock 'Transcode'.

Avisynth and proper directshow decoder is required for m2ts processing. It seems you don't have them working fine. You can try with the original MKV... Still you need to check if you have latest avisynth and ffdshow.

im having problems with uncropmkv\the transcode part of multiavchd unsynching the audio. im using it to change the frame rate from 25fps to 23.976fps and the video lags behind the audio. also i feel like i should mention another problem im having is that this new uncropmkv doesnt work as well with avi's anymore. it used to turn it into an mkv first, but it doesnt do that anymore and it also doesnt run mkvmerge successfully with avi sources.

I intended (at last!) to download multiAVCHD and to test it. I had problems in "convincing" my Humax to cooperate with my PC, and I still have some problems with the subtitles, thus the delay.

However, I think I will hesitate a bit, because it seems that, according to your page, multiAVCHD can only be used if multiupdate is activated. So I assume that would require an internet connection. If this true? Because my video processing PC will never see the internet, so in this case I won't install it, like any other software that needs internet.

deank
6th September 2009, 09:54
I don't know where you read that it requires internet or multiUPDATE. Internet is required only if you want to update to another version - otherwise not.

I don't know where you read that it requires internet or multiUPDATE. Internet is required only if you want to update to another version - otherwise not.

Well, here:

Be advised and aware that:
* all builds expire few weeks after being issued and can be used after you execute multiUPDATE
* you should NEVER download multiAVCHD from any sites/links/torrents, except links in this page and from Softpedia, Digital Digest and Videohelp
* multiAVCHD is free and no one can charge you, should you decide to obtain/download it
* multiAVCHD does not contain any spyware, nor any other unwanted software
* this software is available only because you support it and may cease to operate at any time without warning
* if multiAVCHD employs donateware program or becomes payware, all (10+EUR) donors and selected testers will be noticed in advance

So, I intend to download on my internet PC this package, but I still hesitate. Having access to internet was the only way possible for multiavchd to function and since all builds will expire after a while I will be nevertheless forced to do this multiupdate. Maybe I got it wrong (I haven't yet installed the software, just red these warnings on the bottom of your page) but having my video PC connected to the net is something that won't happen.

i ran a test using a file that was 1280x532 on both MAVCHD and the avchd mode in tsmuxer. The results were interesting. the tsmuxer outputed m2ts file when checked on the pc staye the same resolution, but when played on the ps3 was 1280x720 and looked to be widescreen.

Then i ran MAVCHD without trascoding it filled in the space with a big thick black bar.

thought id tell you incase it helped in some way not sure how tho lol

You're comparing incomparable things.

You're playing tsMuxeR's m2ts file in XMB/File mode in the PS3 and you're playing multiAVCHD's AVCHD compilation in AVCHD/Blu-ray player mode. They have nothing in common.

I've gotten my first problem since using your excellent program. When I open a .ts file, it goes to the media screen ok, then when I try to click on the red title to open the transcode window,ti freezes and mx.264.exe starts in the task manager and I have to shut it down in task manager to get the transcode window to appear, then it shows the file to be 720x480 when in mediainfo it shows 1920x1080. any ideas? I can't send you a log because it won't get that far. I've used it previously on a .ts capture and it worked fine...don't know which version I was using at the time though.

Tried in both Win 7 & XP Pro with same results.

The problem with DT and PowerDVD is that it emulates a CD-ROM disc for any ISO images < 1GB in size, a DVD-ROM for anything <= DVD9 size (4169920 sectors) and BD-R for anything bigger than that.

PowerDVD (and ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 3) will not play BD / AVCHD content from anything looking like a DVD-ROM.

Virtual CloneDrive has the advantage here in that it actually parses the image file (at least in the newer beta versions) and will mount an image (of any size) with a BDAV/BDMV folder in the root as a BD-R. That's why it works and DT doesn't.

Thank You very much for this post, I was trying and trying to play my movie (less than 4gb) created with multiavchd, with Power dvd and no luck, but I used Demon tools and I didn't noticed that it emulated dvd instead of blu-ray, so now I will try virtual clone drive to mount iso from imgburn

Quick question here, if you guys don't mind . . .

I was just wondering if there is a way to combine multiple .mts files into a single .mts file using multiAVCHD. If so, how? I don't see that option in the "edit" menu under the "media" tab.

If it can't be done in multiAVCHD, is there another program that would help with that?

Thanks for the help! :)

deank

Yes, you put your mts files into a folder and drag it to multiAVCHD program window.

Thanks Dean! . . .

I found that the combined file had the audio reduced to AC3 6ch. The original files had LPCM 8ch. Is there a way to still retain the LPCM 8ch?

deank
11th September 2009, 08:12
The combined file (before processing a compilation) should have the original audio - no conversion is performed. If you get AC3 after you create a compilation - there is probably an option enabled in Subtitles&Audio tab.

Hi!* Avisynth, haali and ffdshow excluded from installerPlease clarify - If these are not included in the installer (but, presumably, are still required):

1) What does a first time user of the GUI have to do?

2) What does a user of earlier versions of the GUI have to do?

Hi,
I have this message when i run multiavchd.
Before this i had a message saying that my multiavchd version has expired so i downloaded the latest version.
Now i have a new message :

"= (RT) failure to write in file (C:\Program Files\multiAVCHD\tempset.cmd) (File access denied) - Line 1968"

what's wrong ?
Thank U
:helpful:

I'm having this same problem with the latest build. I've taken ownership of all the files in the multiAVCHD directory and I've set the .exe file and tempset.cmd to "trusted" under kaspersky. I've tried deleting the files in C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\_multiTMP, but the problem still persists. I can reboot the computer and it will run the program one time successfully, but if I use it a second time I always get this error. I was experiencing it occasionally with the previous build so i don't think it's anything specific with the new version. More than likely it's something on my end that I'm overlooking. I'm using Windows 7 RTM so it might have something to do with the issue as well. I skimmed through the posts hoping olivier06 found a solution, but I never saw one. Anyway, if anyone has any other suggestions I'd appreciate them.

Hi! Please clarify - If these are not included in the installer (but, presumably, are still required):

1) What does a first time user of the GUI have to do?

2) What does a user of earlier versions of the GUI have to do?

1) Avisynth, ffdshow and haali are not required for multiAVCHD work when no welcome screen, menu or transcoding is required. User should obtain and install them himself (if needed). Most users have the correct DirectShow filters and decoders and reinstalling them (by not taking a look at former installer options) causes them troubles, instead of making things easier. The change is due to the presumption that most people *can* in fact play the files they're willing to transcode. Avisynth is the only requirement and there is a link in the 1st post.

2) Installer is nothing but an 'extractor' and 'shortcut' creator... No weird registry tweaks or system modifications. Users of previous builds should not have any troubles simply 'installing' multiAVCHD in the folder of the previous version. .INI file is kept so all should be okay.

I'm having this same problem with the latest build. I've taken ownership of all the files in the multiAVCHD directory and I've set the .exe file and tempset.cmd to "trusted" under kaspersky.

I posted an .ini file for you in xbit forum. (if you're not the same user, follow this link: http://forum.ixbt.com/topic.cgi?id=29:31524-2#30 )

A user there found out that his Kaspersky antivirus program blocked the access of multiAVCHD to its own folder, so... I can't help you more.

Well, be careful what options you change in your AV/Security program, because allowing creation of such files (like .cmd / .bat) is hazardous. Once created and executed a lot of troubles can appear.

multiAVCHD is using .cmd for basic operations such as executing other programs (tsmuxer, bdsup2sub, etc...), temp folder setting and temp folder cleanup - no harm there. So if you're tweaking the options of your software - make sure it is only for multiAVCHD, not a system-wide setting.

If anyone is willing to test something I added in the latest (700+) build:

here is more info (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1325366#post1325366)

It is for PS3 users, who occasionally burn BD-R/RE discs (it may be useful for regular BD players, too).

The files in meta/disc-library folder .\BDMV\META\DL\ are created when "Blu-ray" output is chosen after "START" in multiAVCHD.

Upon inserting the Blu-ray disc in your PS3 it should display your compilation name, titles and picture thumbnail (instead of BDMV text).

If anyone can test it - please let me know.

Latest update includes a small update/fix for Panasonic/Viera SDHC output modes.

Bug: Transcode will not be initiated for MPEG2 files, even if it is set to and instead SD_VIDEO format output is created.
Fixed: If MPEG2 file is set for transcoding with Panasonic/Viera output modes it will be transcoded to H.264/AVC and then authored properly as AVCHD (not as SD_VIDEO)

Also for "Blu-ray" output mode, meta files for title search/scene/chapters for each title are created in 8 languages in .\BDMV\META\ES\ folder (esmt_lid_plsid.xml) (LIDs/languageIDs are for eng, deu, fra, jpn, por, rus, zho, esp)

Maybe a question asked million times about the program. 2 things that I would like to comment/questions on.

1) How do you change the font size/color for the title text. Its pretty small and I would like it larger?
2) The arrow that is shown to indicate the selected item in the menu is also pretty small. I can (from what I have found out) only change the Color and Transparancy. How to make it larger or change it to a frame around the selected item or something simular?

Other then that, its a great application, keep up the good work.

deank
16th September 2009, 11:01
You can change the color in Menu tab, but not the size (at least not at the moment).

About the navigational arrow - sadly none of the things you wish are possible (also at the moment).

Thanks for the reply. My menu looks pretty nice, just some small details.

Would be great if the title and the headers font/color could be change independent (add font type, color, size to Title).
Maybe add a few difference navigation symbols (like arrow (already there), large dot, maybe a frame around the title image (bit harder to create).

Could it also be possible to add a sub menu for chapters, so they arent shown on the same menu as the title. Also a Subtitle/Audio menu would be great. Lots of possibility, it just take lots of time to make.

But thanks for at great application. Thumbs up

OK. I did use triangle button (on the first screen - first image in my post) - I see only those options:
Play
Play from Beginning
Eject Disc

When I use triangle button on the second screen - second image in my post - I see usuall PS3 play menu - icons for skip forward, skip back, subtitles, audio, fast forward, fast back, etc.

Looks like there is no "Information" anywhere.

If it may help - I ripped Pirates3 bly-ray with AnyDVD on my HD, used "all files" option, not a ISO, after that I selected biggest mt2s file (about 40GB), put it in multiAVCHD programm as a video, removed not needed audio and subtitle streams in title properties, did a reencode to fit a BD-R, created a ImgBurn ISO image, burned it on BD-RE first, checked, burned on BD-R - everything worked perfectly, (however, reencoding took about 19 hours on my Pentium 3.2 single core PC on turbo mode)

Ok... if you start multiAVCHD it will update to a changed 700+ build - it includes the POSTER image (or poster frame) as BD thumbnail as you asked. (if it doesn't update - use multiUPDATE.exe) Also if you delete the 'compilation name' there won't be this 'dash' sign in front of the Title name :)

It is great that all worked as it should :) from the original Blu-ray -> RIP -> multiAVCHD -> BD-R :)

I guess you know about BD-Rebuilder program - it will make it easier for you if you want to retain the original menu and features of your Blu-ray disc.

Thank you, Dean!

I know about BD-Rebuilder. Actually, I did'nt try this program yet. I discovered yor program first and greatly satisfied with it. I used MKV2VOB before, but this program won't allow multiple audio, multiple subs, no way to reauthor... so I'm a big fan of your software now. I'm kinda conservative - I'm still using Ifoedit, Cinema Craft Encoder and DVD maestro for DVD backup and I don't care about menu's, extras and other like that things,. All I need - just a good movie in better quality I can get with English audio and subs (and Russian audio and subs, if present) - your programm doing great, so I don't need anything else yet.

Just to be sure that I have this right.

[11:35:50] Copy C:\Personal\Videos\AVCHD to X:\PRIVATE\ of SDHC/SD/MMC card.

I copy the contents of C:\Personal\Videos\AVCHD to the folder X:\PRIVATE\? Or do I copy the folder C:\Personal\Videos\AVCHD to the folder X:\PRIVATE\?

Sorry if this is obvious.

You copy AVCHD folder (not its contents) to x:\PRIVATE\ so you should get

X:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\INDEX.BDM

:) Dean

p.s. Otherwise I would've made the log say, 'copy ...\AVCHD\ to... ' or 'copy ...\AVCHD folder contents'... as the log shows for DVD/BD-R.
