Nice :)

And the chapter count is proper, right?
And mouse won't enable those empty chapter-placeholders :)

Wow ... when using external/embedded chapters even under crossover/mac thumbnails in XMB menu are accurate (+/- 1 sec). But you have to integrate 00:00:00 as first chapter in your txt. I used for example in my 1:14 HDV clip: 00:00:00;00:00:10;00:00:25;00:00:40;00:01:02 ... and mplayer does a nearly perfect job.

Perhaps some people confirm this by using external chapter an disabling directshow option ....

after my tests,
With Directshow, the difference is allways (-1s) between chapter file txt reference and the chapter point created.
With mplayer, the chapter points and references file are near similar but by title I've 1chapter point with (-1s) difference.
Not the same number chapter on each title (some the 2nd, time the 3th...)

Another about the poster image.
I don't know if I well understand the way for input poster image in XMB menu (or it is not yet aviable).
But I've created picture (png file in 1920x1080) and named correctly (movie1.png for movie.mkv...)
After compilation no poster image displayed in xmb menu only thumbail or backgroung picture.
I saw in tab Editor for each title a box poster image (with "click to ad image poster.." option), but when I click nothing appears ?

Can you explain in other words what you mean?

I try, for example :

I've created for a sample movie a chapter file with 4 points, like :(00:00:00 is the original point)
00:00:00 00:00:31 00:01:02 00:01:33

I creat a multiavchd with 3 sample movies
movie1 with movie1.txt (chapter file txt).
movie2 with movie2.txt
movie3 with movie3.txt
(each txt have the same chapter points seen up).

During playback, if I check each chapter :
- with directshow option, each chapter have -1s difference
For 00:00:31 reference playback acces is to 00:00:30 etc..

- with mplayer (not directshow option activated).
The playback acces to chapter a the reference are correct,
but for one chapter I obtain this same difference at -1s.
ex: With movie1
00:00:31 is correct
00:01:02 => playback 00:01:01
00:01:33 is correct.
With movie2
00:00:31 => playback 00:00:30
00:01:02 is correct.
00:01:33 is correct.
With movie3
00:00:31 is correct
00:01:02 => playback 00:01:01
00:01:33 is correct.

Ok, I understood.

But now after testing with some longer movies (40 min.), I have to say, that 2 chapter thumbs where set "wrong" as they are approx. 1 - 2 min. to early in time.

deank
19th March 2009, 14:44
That's right. With mplayer it is impossible to get the correct thumbnails.

For shorter videos the difference is not so obvious but for 40-50min or 120-240min movies it is. Directshow works fine no matter how long is the video.

A minor fix in build 471: it seems some CLPI/CPI files were wrongly set with HDMV0200 header instead 0100 which is by AVCHD standard. It is now fixed.

Dave5118
19th March 2009, 18:39
It was not implemented, yet. If you took time to browse the last pages of the thread you would have known that.

Build 468:
* External/embedded chapters are used for chapter thumbnails in XMB style menu

I did some tests with ts/mkv/m2ts files... Please let me know if something is wrong.

You will see information in the progress bar about current chaptermark used while generating menu.

I did read the previous pages, just didn't realise the thumbnails were always 12 :o

Working fine now, thanks :)

This tool is becoming pretty useful for movie only BD's now that chapters can be used for something like a 'scene selection' menu. Great job!

Next step importing retail menus/extras? :)

This tool is no longer working for me. Worked 2 versions ago, when XMB menu option was first introduced. Now, when I click 'Preview', it looks like it's going to generate the menu preview, but doesn't. I click 'clickBD', it goes through the motions, but gives me an error when building menu (see attached). I'm using m2ts files (extras) from the UK 'Taken' Blu-ray.

Could this be because I've used the update tool to keep multiAVCHD updated? Do I need to uninstall and install the new build? I have Vista and do have AviSynth installed. Thanks.

The resulting BD structure just shows the generic menu w/a single title, not what I created (see attched).

Update: Sorry, I can't get the 'menu' screenshot of the menu properly. It shows just... 1. multiAVCHD Custom Menu

FYI, Middle to late of last week this was not an issue. I made a BD-R with two movies, both with original chapters. multiAVCHD was up to date then.

deank

@hidef_rec: If you can't get the preview working and if you have "1. multiAVCHD custom menu" it means that there is a problem with avisynth. Reinstall version 2.58 - there is a link in the first post of the thread. You can download the complete Setup_multiAVCHD_2.5, too.

@odin24: I know. The problem appeared when I introduced chapter thumbnails generated on the base of external/embedded/default chapter marks.

When AVCHD folder is imported I have no way of getting info about existing chapters - hence the crash. Original chapters are still kept, it is all about the thumbnails in XMB.

deank
20th March 2009, 12:34
In build 473:

Chapter information is stored in output folder (the same way as multiMENU.txt) so information will be available when importing AVCHD folders back to multiAVCHD. The file is multiCHAP.txt and each line contains chapter marks for the corresponding title in order.

If verbose logging is enabled you will see information about chapters used while processing files/folders.

*** edit ***: and in 474 a fix for chapters for file-titles, as they were not saved.

Finally.... in build 475:

UP and DOWN buttons will scroll title list in XMB without pressing OK/X/ENTER :)

I hope you'll like and enjoy it as much as I do :)

It is somehow sad that it took changing only ONE BIT to make it work, but I needed 14 days to find it out.

No! Duration must be on right. It looks better this way and it will not be covered by next thumbnail. This should not be i big problem.

Then either uncheck [x] Use Directshow (XMB) option or install Haali Media splitter and AVC decoder like ffdshow.

You need to be able to play M2TS files to use directshow option.

What happens when menu shows and you start a title?

Are you seeing any warning in the log? Is your player NTSC and mkv is PAL? Does it happen with all imported files? Do you have a PC player to play AVCHD content?

it only happens with m2ts files for me. the mkv files work perfect.

When I want to add a new mkv in a existing MultiAVCHD, does the program mux the whole existing MultiAVCHD to add the new one?

deank
22nd March 2009, 10:13
@jbalsor: The problem can be with the VC1. It was discussed in some other thread, too.

@Butterfly666: It won't mux anything, but will copy/move your old multiAVCHD compilation, do the necessary changes and will add you new files. There is not other way. If you use XMB menu it will recreate it and it may take time, but it can't be avoided.

deank

If you can try with a RW disk it will be better. Or you can try DVDs you've used in the PS3. Also there is a thread about problems with VC1 and BD35. Just test and post back. You need to use "create multiBD" button.

Enable ImageBurn in Settings in multiAVCHD, add your MKV and click "create multiBD".

Build 477:

* AVC elementary stream support (*.264 files)

You can now add .264 files to your compilations.
Of course it is good idea to have audio/subtitle tracks in the same folder, otherwise you'll have video-only title.

If your elementary h264 file is test_movie.264 and you have demuxed audio, just put it in the same folder and multiAVCHD will add those streams (test_movie.ac3/dts/lpcm/srt/sup/ssa....)

Two minor problems:
(1)The Title names editor/preview would change the original file name into small letters. ie.
Babylon.A.D.(2008).UNRATED.BDRip.AC3.X264-TLF-English.mkv
babylon a d (2008) unrated bdrip ac3 x264-tlf-english
(2)The chapter points set by 00:00:00 is imprecise compared to 00:00:00:000. Is there a way that we could grab the precise I-frame for chapter-point anchoring? Some professional authoring software can automatically set the chapter point to the nearest I-frame by referred from the imprecise chapter table. The most obvious effect for the imprecise chapter marks is the "jump delay" from chapter to chapter. It would take 1-2 sec for a BD player to search the I-frame with black waiting screen. I personally do not think there is a easy way. I know in Vegas 8.0, chapter marks are embedded within the encoded m2v file that is specially for DVD Architect to process.

Hi, Deank, i found a little bug with external subtitles, if the file name is "Movie.Spa.srt" the language code is incorrectly set as "Spa" when should be "spa" (lowercase letters), because of that most players indentify the subtitle as "Unknown language" instead of "Spanish".

I am trying to understand the XMB menu chapters thumbnails.

If I select the "keep original chapters" selection, is the source chapter locations read to create the thumbnails? Does it matter what the source is (AVCHD, MultiAVCHD version with no chapter.txt, , MultiAVCHD with chapter.txt).

I have a AVCHD source (not created by MultiAVCHD) and when I use the "keep original chapters" selection the thumbnails don't match the actual chapter points.

deank
22nd March 2009, 21:54
multiAVCHD cannot recreate chapter marks from non-multiAVCHD sources and - yes - it matters the source. AVCHD/m*ts sources bring almost "zero-info", unless I take a month to process MPLS files and get chapters from those files and I don't think it will "pay back" to dump my work projects to implement it at this time.

deank
22nd March 2009, 22:05
I think after almost 500 builds multiAVCHD deserves a semi-pro version (3.0).

* No more "on-the-fly" processing

* All properties of 'to-be-build-compilation' will be available before processing

* Nice user-friendly interface, allowing user to:
--- Select/De-select/browse-for/add/remove built-in/external audio files, subtitle files, external chapter files

-- Decide what kind of processing will be applied to selected/existing audio media

* User decision on final output format upon compilation completion

I'd add more and more to the list - it's just I can't remember all changes.

All those planned changes will bring multiAVCHD to completely new level - from being just a "tool" to a real product.

Chapter point insertion:
The format 00:00:00:000 table is most precise one if and only if "true" values are given. For zero-wait chapter search, I-frame must be inserted at the chapter point during encoding. Any value of 00:00:00:000 other than those values co-incident with I-frame are not "true" for precise chapter search. There are obvious delay moments during chapter-to-chapter jumps with imprecise chapter table values. The greatest problem is, how do me know which values should be implemented without knowing where the I-frames are? Should I care so much for the momentary black screen waiting for the chapter search? I think I can tolerant them when I know the reason why and I won't care to set the values from 00:00:00 format to 00:00:00:000 format if I do not know precisely the "true" values.
