@asherungar: Yes, there is a way to add slices with macroblocks for each frame. It doesn't touch the video itself and the final size get's a bit bigger but it's not a big deal.
I'm still working on it and waiting for some help from the x264 developer.
waiting for that!!!
way to go ! :)

I could reproduce a bug in the custom menu when combining more than 12 AVCHD folders:
If I select with the RC of my SAP in the shown custom menu the arrow to the 13th folder, the files of the 12th folder are played again and not the files of the 13th folder.
If I play the folders sequentially they show and play all!
And I can select the folder-title directly via RC through a so-called 'info-menu', which shows the titles and chapters as numbers.
The bug can be reproduced with Nero Show Time as well. It seems to me that the arrow of folder-title 13 is pointing to the wrong playlist. But why? For these tests I had created very simple AVCHD folders containing just one single file.

This is for the list menu (with 14 titles) not the thumbnail one, right?
I did a lot of tests and couldn't see the problem. Is it always and ONLY with nav-arrow 13?
edit: I found the problem.

It is the list menu, not the thumbnail one!
It is only with nav-arrow 13, but my tests ended with15 folder-titles!
I'm happy to do more tests, but I don't know which one.

I just down-loaded 'DAT update only - Version 2.4.409 (10 MB)' but the program is reporting 'multiAVCHD.DAT is outdated!'!
What's wrong?
(The new dat-file seems to have exactly the same size as the old one1)

You need to update multiAVCHD.exe to build 409, too. Yes, dat is of same size but changed contents. If you disabled the autoupdate - run multiUPDATE.exe.

Probably because the "outdated" error occurs before the check for new version is performed. I'll change it in next versions. You can always use multiUPDATE.exe. What it does is download the last available version and then launches it.

In build 410 you can change "credits info". Also font settings for top menu title and credits are saved in the .ini file.
Also a bugfix in case of outdated dat-file - exe will update.

Ok, let's give another try of the SD card playback support.
Here is the sample. (http://rapidshare.de/files/45568311/SD_ROOT.exe.html)
It is 55MB 1920x1080 h264 video 23.976fps with 2 subtitle tracks and DTS audio.
A great success will be if it shows your VIDEO playback menu not to say if it plays. :)
Please post back with results.
----
It seems there is a way to test if SD contents are valid using Panasonic's HDwriter application. A little observation: changing ONE BIT in .CLPI files (the one that defines the audio tracks) - makes SD contents invalid. If the audio is DolbyDigital (STEREO) - it is all okay. No multichannel support.

DLL UPDATE
Download calclib_dll.exe (http://rapidshare.com/files/201571957/calclib_dll.exe) and overwrite your old calclib.dll in multiAVCHD base folder (it is just 600KB). It will be included in the full download (build 411) in first post.

What kind of ICON/THUMBNAIL do you see in your video screen?
Build 412
Some interface changes. It seems that novice users find multiAVCHD too complicated to use. Most of you probably didn't notice as we're together since multiAVCHD was "born" :) but piling up so many options makes multiAVCHD a not-so-easy to use.
I made some space in some tabs and added others and will try to make it look and feel better. Anyway - I need space for the next features as popup menu and chapter creation, SD support along with h.264 stream processing if border-addition is needed. So - keep fingers crossed.

I see a black icon. I remember that in your previous test with two videos, only one of them appeared in the menu, but that one worked almost completely (thumbnail, video and audio were correct, only the subtitles were missing) It seems this video has something incompatible with my player

Please excuse me if this issue has already been dealt with; I simply do not have the time to go through all 63 pages, and a quick search has not yielded a solution.
I have successfully created a compilation with a menu which my PS3 plays perfectly from a Flash Stick. (Thanks for a great program, Dean -- just what I've been looking for!)
Problem is, the same compilation, burned with ImgBurn to a DVD, does NOT play. The DVD shows up as a data disc in the PS3. According to AVCHDme, the compilation is PS3 compliant.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Usually I do not support Non-Readers ... ok .. I do an exception:
create a multiAVCHD -> that is for USB
create a multiBD -> that is for optical medium

A note to all new (and not only new) multiAVCHD users.
Take a time to read the guide. Once you launch multiAVCHD - if you hesitate on some option's function - hover with the mouse. There are a lot of hints for almost each menu option/checkbox.
multiAVCHD and multiBD produce almost the same output. The difference is that in the latter there are some more folders present and filenames are BD compatible (not 8.3 format) and are to be used for burning to DVD/BD.
And about the problem :) the funny thing is that is was mention in the FIRST page and the first user post :)
And... redfox, I suggest you to use the other nice program of idbirch - AVCHD Manager (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143920). It contains AVCHD_Me and AVCHD_meUNDO.
Before burning - check if you place BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders in the ROOT of the compilation and that your files are named index.bdmv, movieobject.bdmv, xxxxx.clpi, xxxxx.mpls and xxxxx.m2ts.

Thank you for treating this "non-reader" so kindly! Actually, I'm an avid reader and experimenter -- but I've reached a point of exhaustion after a very busy weekend learning about backing up blu-rays to hard-disks from the PS3, then learning to re-encode DVD's to h.264, creating AVCHD's, the whole works . . . my head is still spinning after trying out a myriad of different routes before discovering a handful of tools that really make things so much easier.
I just want to take the opportunity to express my gratitude and admiration to those who create these tools -- sofware like DVD Rebuilder (and now BD Rebuilder), MultiAVCHD and AVCHDme -- you guys rock!

Unfortunately no luck for me either. Tried on a Panasonic BD35.
Dean, may I suggest you try to get some samples from the newer (US) panasonic AVCHD SD card cameras. I know the US models can shoot 1080p @24fps. Maybe if you can find some samples from these that might be of use/help.
Ah, after a second read it does show the standard AVCHD from SD card menu - I'll send you some pics. Hopefully this is helpful?
EDIT: The HDC-SD9 (US model) which isn't too new, can shoot 1920x1080 @24fps. Maybe samples from this might be attainable?

Hmm, just re-reading this part again seems odd.
I say this because my panasonic SD card HD camcorder records in DD 5.1 and plays back fine via SD card in my Panasonic BD35.
Do you mean it can only be seen to be DD stereo, or it has to actually be DD stereo?

For testing I would need a video with 25 fps !
I'm a bit concerned about the following:
I suspect that AVCHD playback on Panasonic TV/BD via SD card is restricted to:
* 1920x1080 / 1440x1080 @ 24p/50i/60i
* 1280x720 @ 24p/50p/60p
* 720x480 @ 60i
* 720x576 @ 50i
That means that 1920x1080p @ 23.976 should work and you don't need 25fps as it is not supported in progressive but only in interlaced mode.
About dec-pvr's comment: Yes, I believe that DD upto 6 channels (5.1) is supported (and LPCM of upto 8 channels 7.1 too), probably my sample gave the error was because it had DTS sound, which is not supported in AVCHD.
I'll try with some samples that conform AVCHD standard. I think BD SAP players use a bit more relaxed standard when playing from optical media, but not when it comes to playback from a SD card.
If there is someone who can shoot a sample 10sec clip with HD camera and these settings: 1280x720@24fps and 1920x1080@24p and send it to me - it will be great.

You are right: 25fps is not the correct description.
I need 50i for testing, because that's the format my camcorder can handle.

deank, sorry to stray a little off topic but as you were recently talking about your experience.
But out of curiosity do you think it will be possible to convert retail menus into something like your menus that play on nearly every standalone?
If so, how difficult do you think the task will be?
deank
25th February 2009, 11:02
Converting is a hard thing to do.
You can always generate a menu with multiAVCHD and then replace the original menus and index/movieobj. Few changes are needed to make menus use correct playlists but it is not that hard.

25th February 2009, 12:49
OK thanks for the info. I guess if I want retail menus and extras my only option then is a Sony BD player when I go looking for one in a few months. At least for the forseeable future unless another player comes out.
